I had been dying to try this spot for the longest time after first hearing about the unique, upbeat cafe's opening, and let me tell you the commute is worth it! If you find yourself in the Seaport or have a free day to do some traveling, this is a must stop! Its seating area is on the smaller side, but there's plenty of available work space perfect for a productive study day or just a chill time with friends. The service is fast and the menu offers a variety of fun drinks to choose from. I was also pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality of their pastries (which are half off after 2 pm!) This place is cheap, such a fun vibe being connected to a cute bookstore, and their menu delivers on flavors! Can't recommend enough!

Hunted for recommended matcha shops in the area and this was the first on the list. I had to try their flight. I think they have a missed opportunity of using an airplane instead of a skateboard considering the window faces the airport. This is definitely meant to be shared between two people. I think it was the equivalent of 2 matcha drinks. The matcha coconut water was refreshing, the lavender matcha reminded me of fruity pebbles/fruit loops, the raspberry was very tart, and the chocolate matcha was super rich. Would definitely get it again when I'm in the area with more people to split it with.

Came in on a Tuesday before noon and was pleased to find this sunny little spot inside the bookstore. There were a few people sitting around but otherwise there was no line. My sister and I ordered an iced chai latte and an iced blood orange hibiscus tea. We found a seat by the corner and waited for our drinks. It was a little hard to hear over the music and the other patrons talking so after about five minutes I went back to the counter to check on our drinks just in case we missed them calling out our order. Neither of our drinks were ready at that point so I waited a few more minutes for them to make the chai. When it was finally done they asked if I had gotten the iced tea yet, which I obviously hadn't, so they quickly got it ready for me. I was confused by the delay, since it took almost ten minutes to prepare a single chai latte. Definitely a cute spot if you want a treat after book shopping, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Good spot for a flavored coffee which is what appears to draw people in if they're not heading to browse the bookstore that's connected. Coffee flavor wasn't super apparent but that's alright when you're drinking an apple butter iced coffee. They also have cookies from the half cookie in Newton for sale so come try them here if you don't want to drive out. The cafe has a good amount of seating, huge windows and lots of natural light making it a good spot to read a book or meet up with a friend for coffee. It isn't super busy early on weekend mornings but service is still quick and efficient here.

Overall good; what's not to love about a cafe attached the a bookstore! The cafe options were good with a coffee flight I'd like to come back for. Their bakery items are plenty and they also offer savory items. The restrooms are clean and the baristas are friendly. A perfect visit in short.

The most incredible hidden gem in the Boston Seaport. Went over with a coworker after we heard about the coffee and matcha flights, and BOY did they live up to the expectation. Such a clever business model, quality drinks, and tons of fun baked goods from various vendors. Cannot wait to go back for the coffee flight!

And I was thinking to myself.. "This could be Heaven or…read morethis could be Hell" Back door donuts is deep in Red Sox territory. I'm actually looking at the green monster while eating my doughnut. I'm reviewing the menu choices as I wait on line. I have one couple in front of me finishing up. I could go for a nice hot cup of coffee along with my doughnut. I walk up to the window and ask, Do you sell coffee? No, just doughnuts. Water? No, just doughnuts. When in Boston, how do you pass up a Boston Crème Doughnut? Well, when they're making Apple Fritters from scratch, everything else will have to wait until my next visit. I pay for my fritter and sit at one of the outdoor tables. The bar next door has a live band playing, it's a good night in Boston as I take a bite of my fritter. First, this is a warm treat. They must of made the fritter and kept it warm in the small oven. The exterior shell is almost crunchy as I get big chucks of fresh apples. This fritter is like a big hug, each bite is warm and comforting. Back Door Donuts, you did a great job the other day! My Apple Fritter was fresh and tasted great. I sure was thirsty tho...

What's worse is that they won't stop sending emails to you if you order from them online. they take your email from toast tab and market to you, so be careful of that when you order online from them. You need to ask toast tab to take you off a list, but it doesn't work. They will keep sending emails.

Modern Pastry is my gold standard…read more Twenty-five years ago, the Sicilian side of my Boston family taught me one of the city's most important unwritten rules: tourists debate. Locals know. And the locals go to Modern Pastry. I've never questioned that advice. After being away from Boston for eight years, one of my first stops was bringing everyone in my group here. As always, the cannoli was the first thing I ordered. Some traditions aren't meant to be broken. But this trip came with a new assignment. My brotha Paulie from the Saint Joseph Society didn't recommend the Zeppole... He *commanded* it. Apparently, Modern only makes them during Easter, but on his personal special request, had them made this year for last weekend's Feast of Saint Joseph. Miss the season, and you wait another year. So the rule isn't to buy one or two. It's to buy as many as you can carry. I can't believe I'd gone my entire life without ever trying one. Imagine impossibly light fried dough surrounding silky pastry cream, finished with a simple cherry hidden in the middle like a secret treasure. Nothing flashy. Nothing overcomplicated. Every bite works because nothing is trying too hard. That's really the story of Modern Pastry. They don't chase trends. They don't reinvent classics. They simply make traditional pastries exceptionally well, year after year, generation after generation. Twenty-five years after my family first pointed me through these doors, they're still right. And now I have one more tradition to look forward to every Feast of Saint Joseph.

Their gluten free (gf)/dairy free (df) donuts are also really good and actually preferred by many members of my family, as they are so moist and melt in your mouth. There are many options to choose from, along with monthly specials which are usually fun! Some of my favorites include their Boston cream, gf/df chocolate frosted, and their holiday themed donuts. My husband loves their gf/df glazed donut. Another big hit is their ginormous cinnamon roll! It's so flavorful and feeds many with its size. Their muffins are a huge hit and barely last in our house. Their bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel is also pretty good. My husband is picky about coffee and doesn't mind theirs. Sometimes they have cupcakes available and they are so moist, full of flavor, and one of my absolute favorite things to get. The staff is usually friendly, but there are some staff that aren't as friendly as others. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available, however it is pretty small and when the line is long it comes close to the tables.
