    Ahhhh!
    Roger K.

Deliciously off the beaten path. Wonderful food with no pretense. This is the type of place you hear about by word of mouth. The current owners have been there for 12 years and many local folk are still just discovering it. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and a welcoming warmth I'm sure, even when the circular fireplace in the middle of the dining room is not roaring. Entrance is through the small bar area unless you require handicap access directly to the dining room. There are a couple of more intimate nooks with tables, fireside tables, and a raised floor dining area to give more dimension and separation. You will notice almost immediately upon being seated how clean everything looks. I was quite surprised at the quality of the draft beer list even though it was brief. We ordered pints of Whale's Tale Pale Ale and Bell's Two Hearted Ale ($5.50/pt) after our server Julie offered us tastes of each. We then reviewed the specials with Julie and made our choices from both that menu and the regular menu. My wife was intrigued with the Fig, Bacon & Shrimp over Creamy Goat Cheese Quinoa appetizer ($9.99) from the Specials menu while I opted for the Empanada appetizer ($9.99) on the regular menu. The blend of flavors in the fig/shrimp appetizer was excellent. My wife said her preference would have been for the quinoa to have been cooked just a bit longer, but she was not at all disappointed, and I was more than pleased with the taste that she shared with me. My two empanadas came with dollops of avocado and salsa, and chopped tomato, lettuce, and sour cream. The pastry crust was very flaky and flavorful and the ground beef and sausage filling was equally delicious and tasty. The warm sliced bread that was served did not even need the butter that was provided. The accompanying salads were a nice mix of shredded greens, tomato and good dressings. For entrées we both went with the Special menu. My choice was the Stuffed Pork Loin ($21.99) with spinach, mushrooms, bacon, and feta cheese finished with a roasted tomato demi glaze. It also came with butternut squash and my choice of a potato pancake. While I thought the pork loin was cooked a bit more than I would have preferred, the demi glaze provided the additional moisture necessary for me to still enjoy the entire dish. The potato pancake was more like shredded home fries and quite enjoyable. The squash was cooked to the perfect tenderness. I really thought I was going to need a doggy bag, but I kept on wanting to enjoy all the flavors while they were hot. My wife's entrée was the House-made Lasagna with sausage and beef ($16.99). It came with garlic buttered roll halves that were likely made in-house just like the pasta. Once again, very enjoyable flavors but my wife thought the pasta was too mushy from over cooking and she thought the sauce to be average. The warmth of the adjacent fireplace kept us from rushing out into the snow covered parking lot, so we listened intently to Julie's description of the available desserts. Chocolate Cream Pie, Coconut Cream Pie, and Apple Crisp ala Mode. There may have been others, but those were the ones that kept repeating themselves in my head. There's only one best way to settle such a dilemma, especially when your wife says she is stuffed. Along with our coffee ($2 each) I ordered the hot Apple Crisp topped with cinnamon whipped cream ($5.59), two spoons, and wait for it..... a slice of each pie ($5.59 each) to go! What a wonderful ending to our meal and a delicious midnight snack of leftover lasagna and pies. Yes, the pies were really good. This is what "country dining" should be like. The warmth of both the fire and the staff, and the outright friendliness, encourage you to return. There are a number of things on the menu that we look forward to trying on our next visit.

Summary- Comfy local hidden spot delivers some good greasy pizza with a wide ranging menu with good beers. Food- 3.5 Stars Nothing that's gonna totally blow you away, but certainly doesn't disappoint. We started with an empanada, a special corn jalapeno fritter things, and an order of chicken livers. The empanada and fritters were both pretty awesome, the chicken livers were decent. We got 2 8 Cut pizzas to split for 5 people, which was too much food. The broccoli ricotta and buffalo chicken were both pretty solid although the buff chicken was a bit too greasy. Drinks- 4 Stars For a kinda homey place they had some good beers on tap both local and otherwise. Atmosphere- 4 Stars Definitely has that converted house kinda feel, in a good way. Like the bar area especially. The fireplace in the main dining area looked like it would be nice in the winter. Value- 4 Stars Good eats not too expensivo. Service- 5 Stars Friendly, personable and timely.

    Peanut chicken. Very tender!

Well, at least we kept our word today when we ordered their two different bowls for takeout. My wife ordered the Fishbowl ($30) with the grilled fish of the day (salmon), cherry tomatoes, quinoa, feta, peaches, arugula, and basil lime vinaigrette (she said no to onions). She could not get over how tasty the quinoa tasted and wondered how they prepared it. She also thought the peaches could have been a little sweeter since we are in prime peach season. While the salmon was just slightly overcooked we'll attribute that to it continuing to cook as we drove the meals home. Even with those minor negatives, she said she would definitely order the dish again. I chose the Poke Bowl ($35) for my meal (my first ever poke bowl) with marinated raw tuna and salmon, edamame, cucumber, watermelon radish, snap peas, nori, avocado, sesame seeds, scallions, and pea tendrils, all over sushi rice with ginger gochugaru oil and soy sauce on the side. This was absolutely delicious. It was a wonderful blend of fresh flavors and textures. If I have another poke bowl somewhere else I only hope it can come close to measuring up to the enjoyment I experienced with this one.

Now the downfall, the chicken sandwich. I did notice other plates coming to tables looking like the fryer temp. is too hot, or cook time was too long. Some fish fry that came out looked quite dark as did my chicken, as you can see! A slight burnt taste was evident. It had good flavor under that burn, and the chicken was close to not being juicy, almost dry. The place is clean, and if not for the location, I would sit at the bar and have the raw bar! Something very important to me that hit me the instant I stepped through the door, if you're looking for a great shot of A/C on a hot day, not here!!! Barely got comfortable from the almost 90 degree day on a bike, and then worked up a return of sweating as the place filled up.

I'm more attracted to non-fried food so the Grilled Haddock was right up my alley. This time I had that with the side order of baked beans and macaroni salad. Again I was not disappointed. My wife gave me the thumbs up on her food also. So I guess I did good. I read the review about the cleanliness. Let me say this, this place is clean. I'm sure they have food inspectors that come in and if it was not able to pass, it would not be open. On the other review which they gave one star, I don't know when this individual called in an order but must understand that you only have a certain amount of people working, trying to please their customers so you have to give them a break. Obviously they don't want to lose customers. If it is a certain time when people are calling in phone orders and coming inside for take out, things happen. Nobody is perfect unless you walk on water. I have been telling a lot of people about this place. Thank God I'm retired and can go there anytime I want. Now I don't have to make seafood at home anymore. The only thing I'll continue making at home is the baked Salmon. Going two days in a row, I guess I'm trying to make up lost time since he has opened up. I'm good with that for sure!

No problem, there's additional seating in the back for a more relaxed feel. Service was a win. Our waiter was courteous, attentive, and accommodating without hovering. Now the food, the Gooouda Burger caught my eye immediately. I ordered it bunless, wrapped in buttery romaine lettuce, topped with crispy bacon and fried onions. Paired it with their straw fries (seriously good) and a cold beer to wash it down. First bite? Exactly what you want. Food to temp, everything was crisp not soggy, the burger was cooked perfectly, even at well done, which is not easy to pull off. A fairly short drive brought me to this little seafood shack; it is located in what seemed to be a kind of out of the way neighborhood. From the outside it looks charming, just a nice New England hang out; inside is even better with 2 compact dining rooms decorated with a nautical theme and a metal roof. When I arrived at about 6 on a Friday night the place was almost full with a couple of larger parties enjoying themselves. The menu is great for me since it is almost exclusively fish and seafood, with a good selection of preparations; even better there was another page of specials that are a bit more upscale. Since I was hungry and just wanted to keep it simple I choose the all you can eat fish fry off the menu. Considering how busy the restaurant was my meal came out in about 10 minutes. A nice basket with 4 fish fillets, fries and coleslaw. The highlight was clearly the fish with perfectly cooked moist white fish in a great batter with just enough spices to perk the fish up. The fish was so good that I actually finished the 4 fillets and then got 2 more. The fries were very thin cut and crispy. The coleslaw is what you would expect, good but nothing special. I was very impressed with Adirondack Seafood, the fish was excellent and the sides were good. The price was reasonable and the portions were generous. Service was good and the atmosphere is charming and fun. I would strongly recommend giving them a try. About the only downside is that outside of fish and seafood there are not a lot of choices; not an issue for a pescetarian like me but could be an issue for those who are serious carnivores.

We arrived at opening on a Thursday evening and had the place to ourselves. The table we were sat at overlooking the gardens was gorgeous. I would say, they don't have the best cocktails. I ordered a gin dirty martini with stuffed olives and I think they just gave me straight gin in a glass with olives. Maybe stick to wine or beer! We were greeted with some nice fresh bread and we then ordered the very popular candied bacon. It was very thick, sweet and savory. Worth trying for sure, I enjoyed it. For dinner we opted for the 3 pound cowboy to share. I had asked what came with the steaks and they said smashed potatoes and green beans, and hyped up the smashed.
