We read all the rave reviews and knew we had to try this place. It sure was crowded with lots of locals too. We waited for about 1/2 hour to be seated. This is the quintessential seafood shack. It reminds me of May places along the New England coast. Atmosphere is 5 stars and food 31/2 stars. The waitstaff were all super friendly and welcoming. We started with a classic New England Clam Chowder. It was rich and creamy with large chunks of potatoes and sizable pieces of clam. They were out of fresh lobster for the evening. I ordered a stack of seafood on an English Muffin (can't remember the name). It was a big wooden skewer plate of mostly fried seafood. I would have ordered differently if I realized it was fried. My favorite bites were the whole belly clams and the crab cake. The small pieces of lobster included were bland (to be fair they told us they didn't have any fresh whole lobsters) and the fried crab was mushy. It came with a side dish and I chose rice. rice. My husband's Cioppino had mussels, shrimp and clams with red sauce over pasta. He licked the plate clean. If I came back I would probably order a whole piece of broiled fish. They are attached to a fish market. It was hopping with customers doing takeout orders the whole time. The food is expensive but what isn't these days.

Back again and yes 5 Freaking Stars! Had the all you can eat fish fry with is crazy because they give you like 5 pieces and fries and I cant eat more than 3! Still a bargain. Clam Chowder again was awesome. EAT AT LOCALLY OWNED BUSINESSES!

I'm more attracted to non-fried food so the Grilled Haddock was right up my alley. This time I had that with the side order of baked beans and macaroni salad. Again I was not disappointed. My wife gave me the thumbs up on her food also. So I guess I did good. I read the review about the cleanliness. Let me say this, this place is clean. I'm sure they have food inspectors that come in and if it was not able to pass, it would not be open. On the other review which they gave one star, I don't know when this individual called in an order but must understand that you only have a certain amount of people working, trying to please their customers so you have to give them a break. Obviously they don't want to lose customers. If it is a certain time when people are calling in phone orders and coming inside for take out, things happen. Nobody is perfect unless you walk on water. I have been telling a lot of people about this place. Thank God I'm retired and can go there anytime I want. Now I don't have to make seafood at home anymore. The only thing I'll continue making at home is the baked Salmon. Going two days in a row, I guess I'm trying to make up lost time since he has opened up. I'm good with that for sure!

Instead, we all shared a piece of the gigantic, insanely good slice of baklava cheesecake. Our server was the bomb. Wish I could remember her name. The wraparound porch is just so nice to sit outside and eat in warm weather. They really utilize the space well, as it's covered in colder months so you can still sit there. I was here for brunch on Mother's Day with reservations and was seated promptly. Due to the holiday, parking was not possible in their lot as it can only take a few cars. No matter, as we were able to park nearby. Their brunch menu had plenty to choose from. You were given these small carrot cake muffins to start, then a choice of starter and main along with dessert, wow! You also had a few cocktails to choose from and you could also swap out for a mocktail too. It was extremely busy but the staff was attentive and handled our orders with ease. Their attention to detail was so nice. For starters we had a strawberry salad, French onion soup, tuna tartare, coconut shrimp. For mains, the burger, salmon Benedict, chicken and waffles and a Polynesian style breakfast bowl with coconut shrimp, sticky rice, pineapple and greens. Lastly on a full tummy we had coffee with chocolate mousse, strawberry shortcake and peanut butter cheesecake. Spending the morning here for brunch was the perfect way to kick off the day. Brunch was enjoyed by all. On a side note, I've also had dinner here and you can expect the same wonderful experience. I'll be back again!

This is a haute cuisine place that is masked by the casual dining atmosphere. Seriously: top notch chef, original recipes, a core dedication to quality seafood, paired with a fresh fish counter and some prepared food to go. We usually go for something special, but tonight I decided to get an old childhood standby, fried clams (the Boston Basket) and the fish burger sandwich. I did not expect either to be as transportive as they turned out to be. The fried clams were as delicately done as I've ever had: not crispy, but not too floppy, with excellent breading. And while I prefer my clams naked, we tried all three of the dipping sauces -- a remoulade, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce. Now normally I loathe cocktail sauce and can take tartar sauce or leave it, so I figured we'd eat up the remoulade and ignore the other two. Still, I gave them little nibbles. Man! The cocktail sauce was like no other I've had, with a heavy hint of horseradish and a far fresher flavor than I've ever had. Then the tartar sauce -- genius! It had a delicate spicing, with capers providing a floral backdrop. That was only a preliminary, as the fish burger proved to be complex, with hints of multiple kinds of fish, and a fennel-based spicing. I ended up having that afterglow, as if I'd had a couple of cocktails and was sitting next to a fireplace, that is the hallmark of truly fine food at an advanced level. We also had the usual outstanding service, attentive without being pushy. I seriously think Hooked should consider splitting into two restaurants: one where the ambiance is upgraded to match the high caliber of the food, and another cheaper one that is strictly fast casual and takeout, and they'd more than double the business. There is a restaurant back where we come from in California, Turtle Bay, that did this with fine dining on one side and the quick, simple, and affordable food on the other side, with a big shared kitchen between them but with completely separate ambiances. That way I could come back more frequently, and still have the original Hooked for special occasions!

To explain, I ordered the cold lobster roll with fries and it was great. First off, the lobster was tender, incredibly fresh, and they loaded the roll with it. Likewise, the roll was perfect. It was airy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. My only issue with the lobster roll was that it needed more mayonnaise. In the same manner, the fries were phenomenal. To make plain, the fries were scorching hot and seasoned to perfection. Also, they had a crispy exterior with a fluffy interior. These were simply great fries. Essentially, Hooked offers great lobster rolls and fries.
