Filet mignon

My best friend and I went to Erlowest to celebrate her birthday and it was a very memorable experience. Firstly, the property overlooks Lake George and we happened to be there during a full moon. The beautiful bright moon reflecting off the water was absolutely stunning. It definitely set the scene for what promised to be a beautiful evening. The food at Erlowest was absolutely AMAZING! I had the lobster bisque, filet and the chocolate mousse with raspberries. Each dish was well presented and flavorful. We finished the evening an espresso martini that was absolutely perfect!! The night was made that more special by our server Brooke. She was very helpful and so sweet. My friend's dessert (brownie sundae ) was brought out with a special handwritten card wishing her a happy birthday from everyone at Erlowest. It was such a special touch to a lovely evening. I would highly recommend for a special evening out. The venue is stunning with gorgeous views, the food is beyond compare, and everyone there is so attentive and thoughtful. Thank you again to Brooke and the staff at Erlowest for making my best friend's birthday so special.

What a great place for dinner in the lake! We ate outside on the beautiful stone deck overlooking the Lake with the Minnihaha passing by... Dinner was perfect, service prompt. We will come again!!!!

Excellent dining on Lake George 4 course pre fix valentines day menu. Everything was terrific as well as the service. Squash soup, filet mignon, chocolate lava cake, risotto appetizer was very good.

We were pleasantly surprised with both the high food quality and friendly, efficient service. Seated outside at a comfortable table we shared an excellent crab cake with our cocktails. The 'Lake George Punch', was very nice. Our server, Jack, was on his game & could give lessons on on unobtrusive high quality table service with a smile and some pleasant conversation. The pulled chicken tacos and crab stuffed haddock were both excellent! Flavor, texture, doneness all top notch. We were caught up in the details of sauces, rice, and wonderful harcort verts (can't just call them a side of green beans). Unexpected in a hotel restaurant in a touristy area. All in all, with the July evening breeze blowing off the lake, a slice of lake view, and the bustling fellow visitors putting on a show just for us.... It was a very nice experience.

However, food came out very slow. Nachos were good and we enjoyed most of our entrees. Someone else had the rib eye which we would absolutely not recommend. Upon further review, we all felt that the food was a bit salty, but worked in a pinch when we were hungry. Overall, just okay.

If you're looking to feed a large group of people in Lake George, and you want to sit by the water,…read moreThe Lagoon is an eminently solid choice. The menu is massive, and so you should easily be able to find something for everybody...unless that person is looking for something super healthy. The Lagoon has burgers, and pizza, and lobster boats, and fish and chips, and four kinds of mac and cheese, and the appetizer list consists of all the things, fried: brussels sprouts, mozzarella wedges, wings, and more. We ordered all three of those fried things I mentioned to start, buffalo mac and cheese, a pizza, fish and chips, a cheesesteak, chicken fingers and a Greek salad. Our server was super bubbly and brought us all the sauces and drinks and everything else we asked for. It isn't going to blow you away with their culinary innovation, but The Lagoon hits a certain spot, and can seat your whole party with a view. I'd do it again.

The staff would congregate in a…read morecorner inside and someone would only venture out to the patio if there was food to deliver to a table, but you would have difficulty getting their attention even as they were walking back. Ordered was the poutine, a turkey club, and the hot buttered lobster roll. I came here for the poutine, a previous review had been very complimentary. I was underwhelmed, the gravy was thin, the cheese and tenderloin scarce. I will give the fries credit, crispy and seasoned, they were a solid base. Being so close to Canada, I'd expect better. The club was loaded up with dry turkey and not enough mayonnaise to help balance that out, but again the tots were crispy and seasoned so they were a gem, possibly the best thing here (and that's not a compliment because they're clearly a prepackaged product). The lobster in the lobster roll was chewy and dry, the roll was crispy but it was as though they had made garlic bread with a hot dog bun, then shoved some sad lobster bits in it. The coleslaw was drenched in dressing, but bland enough that I ate it for some texture and filling after being left wholly unsatisfied by my roll. All in all, I get the impression this restaurant relies solely on the lake, and their proximity to giving you a view while you eat, almost entirely to distract from a subpar performance in every other aspect of restauranting.

Let's set the scene: two hungry humans are driving up To…read moreLake George for Labor Day weekend. They remember on a whim that the Erlowest had some of their favorite cocktails in town. They call the Erlowest pleadingly, hoping for a dinner reservation. They courteously and warmly made room in their reservation book. Enter us, a couple of foodies looking for a great meal with a view. That's where this story *really* begins. We just had to call out the other part because they were so hospitable. We started with dirty martinis by Andy. Perfect. We then moved to an outdoor table overlooking the lake, with Molly as our server. She was friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly attentive. We started with the paté and pickled shallots, accompanied by their delicious warm bread and olive tapenade. The amuse bouche started ya off with Wagyu beef and a subtle horseradish sauce. Everything we ate was delicious and well balanced. Then, came the main show. The strip steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was likely one of my favorite steaks of my lifetime (I order a lottt of steak!) and was paired perfectly with duck fat fries and a rich sauce. When you can get a crust on a juicy steak, you're golden in my book. My dining companion had the scallops with lemon risotto. SO GOOD. Every bite made perfect sense. The chef is clearly talented and puts incredible thought and care into the food. If you are a foodie and come to Lake George, don't miss out on the Erlowest. My only regret is not taking photos of our food. Five stars for food. Five stars for ambiance. Five stars for service!

Can I give 10 stars?…read more If we lived in the area, we would be here monthly if not more often. Incredible food (served in full or half portions), craft cocktails (I had a tomato infused vodka martini), and a welcoming and friendly staff. When we arrived, the restaurant was just opening but not quite ready for guests, so one of the servers came out and chatted with us for a while. How many other places do this? The food was so good and creative and plated in a tempting way. It almost felt a shame to eat it. Accolades and kudos to the BEST restaurant in LG.

My husband and I shared a few appetizers and a few half plates so we could both taste a bit of everything. The only thing we didn't really like was the tuna appetizer. If you are contemplating trying the wild boar sausage it was absolutely delicious and I'm so glad we tried it! Now for the negatives. When I made the reservation I let them know it was for our anniversary. I didn't expect special treatment but we felt it actually went the opposite of being special. When we were led to our table we walked through a very nice and cozy dining room into a way less nice side room at a four seat table. Almost immediately after sitting multiple people came in and were arranging tables and chairs around us to accommodate a party. We were quickly told we should get our order in asap as when the party arrived the kitchen would be busy making their meals. I honestly was floored by this remark. The last thing you want on a special occasion is to feel rushed. I'm sure they thought they were being helpful but it just felt unwelcoming. By the time dinner came we were the only ones in there surrounded by a large party of other people. Why the room wasn't kept for just the party is kind of baffling because we were just two people and could have easily fit somewhere else. While dinner was tasty I was not at all happy with dessert. We ordered the peach cobbler, which is one of my favorite desserts. When it came it was a chopped up peach sauce on top of what seemed to be some type of very dense spice cake. My husband somewhat enjoyed it because he likes spice cake but we left most of it because it wasn't at all like a cobbler. And not something we would have ordered if it had been properly described. On the way out to leave we again walked through the other dining room and got a better look at how much nicer and romantic it looked with much more private tables for two. So disappointing. All in all I think we would give this place another shot for a more casual dinner. But I would absolutely never even consider coming back for a special occasion again.

Love the old cash register and the serving staff is top notch. This is a busy restaurant, so expect to either make a reservation or wait for a bit. Let's talk about the fall menu that dropped this week. I wish I took a photo to show you, however, their main entrees (non-steak or seafood section) consist of 6 options and out of the 6, three of them are pork entrees. Baby back ribs, pork chops and then a third option. What was missing?? A chicken entree. There's literally one chicken sandwich on the menu and it's a sandwich. The bartender offered to have grilled chicken and veggie. Their only veggie is broccoli. Seasonal for fall would include squash usually. Love the log jam and will be back, but I may wait for a new menu to drop, this one didn't hit with me. I studied it for like 15 minutes trying to find something. It felt very alienating because I swell up from pork and I don't like eating a lot of bread or fried items. Had the haddock which was roughly a 3.5 oz portion with about 2 cups of broccoli. The broccoli was perfectly cooked, however, it's a cruciferous vegetable. In large quantities it can easily upset a tummy, which it did with mine. Enjoyed the haddock a lot, it was really well cooked. Ultimately, when I think of going to log jam, I don't immediately think I'm going for a burger, I immediately think I'm going for a healthy and delicious chicken entree. Next time maybe! The reason why having 3 out of 6 main entrees pork could be a dilemma for some patrons is: (1) it's inflammatory; (2) gout patients; (3) naturally high in sodium; (3) religious reasons. 4 out of 5 - look forward to the next menu drop!
