Great food, friendly service, unbelievable views. The restaurant is part of the Sagamore Hotel. Highly recommended.

I had a great dinner at The Pavillon during my most recent stay at The Sagamore. This restaurant doesn't just have views of the lake... you are literally eating on the lake. If you can, be sure to time your dinner during sunset. The menu is pricey (as expected at The Sagamore) but the portions are large and the seafood is incredibly fresh. My pasta had so much shrimp and scallops, both perfectly pan seared. The tomato sauce was light and flavorful and they were able to make it mild instead of spicy which was appreciated. My husband's snapper was also incredibly fresh and well prepared. Service is wonderful and cocktails are strong. You can call ahead for a reservation which I suggest. Because of Covid they are also only accommodating hotel guests which is nice. This is a great option for a classy dinner or a more casual lunch if you want to grab something like a lobster roll or burger. If you stay at The Sagamore I do suggest dining here at least once!

Fra diavolo (both hit and a miss)

Pavilion is the more casual restaurant on the property but has the best/most expansive views by being at the bottom of the property on a deck over the water. First come first serve, no reservations accepted. You don't know how badly I want to give 5 stars! -Service was fine -Drinks were tasty -Bread and butter was yummy But this review is really about the main course.. The fra diavolo dish is both a hit and a miss. The flavor of the actual seafood is delicious, crave worthy and done to near perfection. Not spicy (will talk about in a second) but for the seafood I didn't care as it was that good in flavor The problem? Pasta lacked flavor itself (but did taste fresh) and there was zero spice/peppers to make it an actual fra diavolo dish...if you didn't call it fra diavolo I guess this wouldn't matter as much :) $44 isn't cheap so why not go for the wow factor and at least give more mussels. It's the cheapest seafood for you to put on the plate, your sauté is amazing so why not add more so we say "wow"? (Even though it's an illusion because they are just mussels but it is all about the eye appeal and feeling a value!) Ya ya higher end property = high price and small portion but what a great feeling it would be to leave that unparalleled property view feeling like the dish was worth it and would get it again and again and make a point to return for it. What about being known for that dish guys?! Plus need I remind you this is your more casual restaurant here so keep the pretentious potions inside :) Your plate consists of: 1 split lobster tail- was plentiful and flavorful 3 shrimp- perfect size and flavor (would 2 more kill you?) 3 scallops- perfect size and flavor (would 1 more kill you?) 4 mussels- more great flavor! (Would 6-7 more kill you?) My mother also got this dish with the same seafood count so safe bet it is the usual portion... Come on, make me want to go back!!!! Good talk

This will be our fourth year staying at the Sagamore and every year our first night we go and eat at the pavilion because it makes us feel like we're at home. Love the atmosphere love the food love the company.

It was such a beautiful day Sunday, and ended up at the Sagamore. Decided to have lunch at the Pavilion. Perfect table with a million dollar view!!! Couldn't have asked for a more accommodating waiter. He was from South Africa and was very friendly. He had recommendations and actually went out of his way a few times for us. For starters we had the fried oysters, steamed clams, & seafood bisque. Everything was exceptional. The clam butter base was so good, we did a second order. I had the fish and chips. Light and fluffy. My brother raved about his mahi-mahi . My daughter loved the Lobster roll and it was packed high! Great drinks, carried s few of my husbands favorite scotches, and a no rush relaxed atmosphere . Can't wait to go in the fall at the height of peak season to capture some great foliage pictures as well! Great experience!

We were in the area for a wedding but had time to waste during the day. We had heard a lot about the Sagamore and wanted to check it out, but while there we decided to get lunch as well. We chose the Pavilion due to the reasonable prices and the fact that we were casually dressed. The venue was located right on the lake. They had seating both under an awning and in the sun, though we sat under the awning. I spotted heat lamps on the ceiling as well which would make for a nice dinner when it's cooler out! The view was gorgeous from this location. The restaurant had a bar area as well as tables for sitting. The menu had wine and cocktails options, and food choices consisted of sandwiches, salads, some seafood and other entrees. The menu wasn't extremely expansive but there were plenty of options. We were all sold on the natural chicken sandwich so all four of us at the table got it. It was a natural chicken breast grilled with Monterey Jack cheese, avocado, bacon and honey mustard on a roll. You could either get it with fries or coleslaw and it came with a pickle. The sandwich was delicious! My friend has a gluten allergy as well and they were able to accommodate with both the bread and the French fries. The service was impeccable and quick. Definitely a beautiful place with delicious eats to stop and enjoy if in the area!

The location was ideal - right on the water and near so many cute shops in town. We were a little early for our reservation, so we explored the back for a bit (our reservation was inside). We enjoyed the picturesque landscape and beautiful lights illuminating the yard - this would be a lovely spot for a party or even a small wedding. Inside was also lovely with quaint decor; I particularly loved the simple seasonal hydrangeas on the table. There was a little confusion with our reservation at first, but after sorting that out, we were seated at a comfortable table for our party. Not surprisingly, the menu focuses on seafood and fresh ingredients. We started with the graham cracker encrusted calamari, which was a unique take on a classic dish that worked well! Very crunchy and refreshing. For my entree, I went with the crab-stuffed flounder, which was delightful. I enjoyed the risotto accompanying it and the fresh sauce and arugula. A filling but not stuffing meal that was high quality! Our dining partners all enjoyed their meals as well, focusing mostly on their seafood options. We split a bottle of white wine, which paired nicely with all our entrees and starters. We did not get dessert, and I did not pay for this meal, so I cannot speak to the after dinner menu or the prices. The ambience was excellent and the food was delicious and fresh, so I would definitely return on future visits to Lake George, hopefully sitting outside next time!

Despite it being almost an hour away, I chose Chateau on the Lake to celebrate my husband's and my…read moreanniversary (which OpenTable did communicate, thank you). I had every expectation that it would the perfect setting for a quiet dinner with a lovely view, exceptional cuisine and attentive service. Unfortunately, for a restaurant of this caliber, they did not meet the mark. Let's start with the good stuff. They have a parking lot which is really appreciated in Bolton Landing, NY. We were warmly greeted at the door and wished Happy Anniversary. We were seated on the porch (our choice of tables because there was only one set of two diners in the restaurant at 6 p.m. on a Sunday night). Off to a good start. I commented about the pretty dress the hostess (at least we assumed she was) who seated us was wearing. A sweet Jamaican gal who goes by "Skinny Girl" offered water and chatted with us (we recognized her Caribbean accent and asked her which Jamaican parish she was from). She was more attentive to us during the evening than our waiter, Owen (he was clearly overwhelmed handling tables on the porch as well as on the patio outside). To his credit, Owen was honest about the crab legs and we were grateful. Service was slow, from drinks to getting the bill. What really rattled our chains is that the hostess in the pretty dress visited diners at every table on the porch - sometimes more than once - except us. We felt ignored. Our drinks were very good. The specialty of the house (a cucumber concoction) was actually the signature drink at our wedding. My husband enjoyed it. My Blood Orange Martini was delicious, albeit $18 which I thought was more like NYC prices. Appetizers were good. I ordered the Escargot which was served on puff pastry with a light cream sauce. Delicious. My husband's Grilled Clams did not look to be grilled at all, and swimming in what appeared to be the same cream sauce as my Escargot which, because he is lactose intolerant, was a concern. My husband's Chef's Choice steak was strip steak, cooked rare as requested, and served over truffle mashed potatoes with asparagus spears on the side. While pricey st $65, he was pleased. I ordered the venison, rare ($41). What was served to me were 2-1/2 small medallions of which two were rare and one was seriously well done (could not eat it). Spinach was on the side. I would have loved some of the yummy truffle mashed potatoes that accompanied my husband's steak. Again, with no one paying attention to us, by the time our waiter came to check on our food, my husband was already finished with his meal. So Owen's offer to return my overcooked venison to the kitchen was not an option. I packed my dinner to go. We asked for an order of churros to share and two coffees (the espresso machine apparently wasn't working). The coffee was old and barely lukewarm. We asked for replacements. One would think that the kitchen staff would try to make up for their two errors and at least provide us with fresh replacements. Nope. They probably microwaved the first two cups. I did not drink mine. This restaurant claims to be rated among the top 100 in the country. We certainly expected better service and care worthy of their New York City prices. I've worked in the hospitality industry for over 40 years and would never disrespect customers like that, especially when they chose my restaurant for a special occasion. So yes, I was disappointed. Would we give Chateau on the Lake another chance? We have so many wonderful choices in Saratoga and Albany (which would have been the same distance). Maybe.

After already visiting Caldwell's and Dr. Brown's Pub, La Bella Vita was our final stop for dinner. The setting is absolutely lovely, and I can only imagine how spectacular it must be in the summer overlooking Lake George. Even in the winter, it felt warm and inviting, and the dining room was pleasantly busy. Our meal was very good and satisfying. We enjoyed the prime rib, and our friends ordered a pasta dish -- everything was flavorful and nicely prepared. We truly had a nice evening. The only small disappointment was that the lunch menu on Friday and Saturday in the Caldwell was the same exact menu for dinner in La Bella Vita. There were only a few entrée options, including sandwiches and pizza that we had already tried. We may have been expecting something a bit more grand or elevated for dinner. That said, overall it was a very nice experience. Prices are on the higher side, but that's to be expected at a beautiful resort like this. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly, and asked if we wanted to sit outside overlooking the lake, or inside, and we of course said outside. We had prime seating on the terrace and enjoyed the lush greenery and the lake waking up. There was a comfortable breeze that made the whole experience top notch. Our waiter, Fabian, was super sweet, friendly, and full of smiles. We decided to do the al a carte option as opposed to the buffet, even though many of the other patrons who were staying at the Sagamore did do this. I had my heart set on the thick cut stuffed French toast, because it's fancy and I'm 40 now so why not - while hubby got their lobster eggs benedict. The food came out beautiful and was just as delicious! My french toast was piled high with berries and powdered sugar, and hubby's eggs came with rosemary roasted potatoes. We cleaned out our plates happily.

For me, that's unacceptable; servers should always check in at least once after meals are served. The food itself is good. A lot of our group has their "go-to" dishes, and mine is the steakhouse burger on a GF bun. I really appreciate that they offer gluten-free options and let you swap fries for whatever potato they're serving (baked, mashed, etc.). My mother-in-law loved the shrimp tacos, and the Hawaiian shrimp bowl is another favorite, but definitely ask for light sauce, otherwise it's too heavy. The dock staff are always great - super helpful getting boats in and out, and we really appreciate them. We keep coming back for the ease of docking, the views, the atmosphere, and a solid dinner with drinks. Honestly, it beats a lot of the other spots on the lake.
