If you're looking to feed a large group of people in Lake George, and you want to sit by the water, The Lagoon is an eminently solid choice. The menu is massive, and so you should easily be able to find something for everybody...unless that person is looking for something super healthy. The Lagoon has burgers, and pizza, and lobster boats, and fish and chips, and four kinds of mac and cheese, and the appetizer list consists of all the things, fried: brussels sprouts, mozzarella wedges, wings, and more. We ordered all three of those fried things I mentioned to start, buffalo mac and cheese, a pizza, fish and chips, a cheesesteak, chicken fingers and a Greek salad. Our server was super bubbly and brought us all the sauces and drinks and everything else we asked for. I was here on a Tuesday afternoon and generally felt unwanted. The staff would congregate in a corner inside and someone would only venture out to the patio if there was food to deliver to a table, but you would have difficulty getting their attention even as they were walking back. Ordered was the poutine, a turkey club, and the hot buttered lobster roll. I came here for the poutine, a previous review had been very complimentary. I was underwhelmed, the gravy was thin, the cheese and tenderloin scarce. I will give the fries credit, crispy and seasoned, they were a solid base. Being so close to Canada, I'd expect better. The club was loaded up with dry turkey and not enough mayonnaise to help balance that out, but again the tots were crispy and seasoned so they were a gem, possibly the best thing here (and that's not a compliment because they're clearly a prepackaged product). The lobster in the lobster roll was chewy and dry, the roll was crispy but it was as though they had made garlic bread with a hot dog bun, then shoved some sad lobster bits in it. The coleslaw was drenched in dressing, but bland enough that I ate it for some texture and filling after being left wholly unsatisfied by my roll. All in all, I get the impression this restaurant relies solely on the lake, and their proximity to giving you a view while you eat, almost entirely to distract from a subpar performance in every other aspect of restauranting. read more

I had such a great time here. We hot a nice view and what i loved is that they allowed the dog to come with us. The staff were super friendly and even gave us some water for the dog. It was pretty empty & quiet & our waitress was able to perfectly capture that sweet spot of not coming over too often but making sure we were taken care of & not in need of anything. We came here because we wanted to sit on the water, and with a 4.3-star Google rating, we figured the food had to be at least decent. I genuinely have no idea how it has that rating. The view is beautiful, and our server was friendly, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The $36 lobster fries were especially disappointing. The menu makes them sound like they're tossed in buttery flavor, but they were just plain fries with a tiny piece of lobster sitting on top. Definitely not worth the price. Then there was the "award-winning" Lagoon mac and cheese. If this is award-winning, I'd love to know who the judges were. It was overcooked macaroni floating in what tasted like warm whole milk soup and virtually no flavor. It was basically a stomachache in a bowl. The buffalo chicken wrap was more like a snack wrap than an actual meal. If you're hungry, this won't do it. We also noticed another table order pizza. After one slice, it just sat there, and judging by the reheated appearance, we can only assume it wasn't much better. We expected to be paying for the waterfront atmosphere, but we didn't expect the food to be comically bad. Come for the view if you must but eat somewhere else. read more

What's better than to spend a lazy afternoon by the lake with good food, music and service?! Plus it's so dog friendly. Parking isn't easy on the main stretch but you can find plenty parking one street away. The restaurant isn't easy to find, but know that it's easier to find if you walk along the water. We were sat immediately and there were heaters throughout the room that kept it warm even though it's currently in the 50s and right on the water. Everyone ordered the special steak au poivre, it was absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly to our preference, the sauce tasted wonderful, I dipped my potatoes in it. We had a very disappointing experience here. The host (male with a beard) told us there would be an hour wait, so we gave our phone number and expected a confirmation text. However, we never received any text updates; no confirmation and no notification when our table was ready. Out of frustration, we went to the restaurant next door and were seated at with no issue. We stayed there for two hours, and still never got a single message from this place. We had a negative experience with the staff. Our waitress was passive aggressive. Being the tip was included in the bill there was no incentive to provide good service. It was brought to management 's attention however, nothing was done to correct the situation. The mixed drinks lacked any alcohol and were poorly made. Visited Lake George on our annual fall motorcycle trip through the Northeast and spent a few days here. We were looking for a place to grab a drink before dinner and found this place and stopped in because it has a view. Had a sketchy vibe to it to begin with. Our party was 8 & their website states parties of more than 8 will be seated separately therefore I didn't expect such a poor seating ... both booths sat 4 by the kitchen door. I expressed my unhappiness and the waitstaff really didn't want to deal with me and would confront me with eye contact that seemed annoyed, so regardless of the customers unhappiness they had no tolerance for it. It's a beautiful place to dine if you have a good table & the food was good but I def wouldn't go for the food it's the atmosphere on the waterfront. Stumbled on the Lahoon with a few family members after taking a ride on the Mohican. Service was friendly and quite fast. Folks at the table ordered pizza, fish and chips...and I had a Greek salad. My salad was quite small, so I was mooching off of other peoples plates. The fish was very good, however, the batter was so thick that it was described as "cakey ".
