The views here are phenomenal, obviously. We sat inside but were still able to see the lake. The service was delightful! It was pretty empty & quiet & our waitress was able to perfectly capture that sweet spot of not coming over too often but making sure we were taken care of & not in need of anything. The menu options are great for everyone. There are plenty. The wings were. so. good. Hearty, meaty, great flavor, even the naked version we ordered. I was between 4 & 5 stars for this place but my kiddos are adamant about 5 stars!! My only critique would be the pizza is a little doughy & the sauce is alright, but it's not bad. The kids loved it & that's a win.

Award winning Lagoon Mac n cheese

We came here because we wanted to sit on the water, and with a 4.3-star Google rating, we figured the food had to be at least decent. I genuinely have no idea how it has that rating. The view is beautiful, and our server was friendly, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The $36 lobster fries were especially disappointing. The menu makes them sound like they're tossed in buttery flavor, but they were just plain fries with a tiny piece of lobster sitting on top. Definitely not worth the price. Then there was the "award-winning" Lagoon mac and cheese. If this is award-winning, I'd love to know who the judges were. It was overcooked macaroni floating in what tasted like warm whole milk soup and virtually no flavor. It was basically a stomachache in a bowl. The buffalo chicken wrap was more like a snack wrap than an actual meal. If you're hungry, this won't do it. We also noticed another table order pizza. After one slice, it just sat there, and judging by the reheated appearance, we can only assume it wasn't much better. We expected to be paying for the waterfront atmosphere, but we didn't expect the food to be comically bad. Come for the view if you must but eat somewhere else.

We didn't know where to eat and having the dog made that really hard. This place was very dog friendly and the waitress even hugged our dog! It was great. The pizza was perfectly thin and flavor spot on. The turkey sandwich had real turkey which was great. The view we had was top tier for me. I could watch the boats come in and see the mountains.

Came here for dinner while spending a night in Lake George. Didn't realize we had been here before a few years back. They only had seating left at the bar so we opted for that. Their beer selection is pretty decent. The pizza was nothing specials but the sliders were pretty good. Besides location the best thing about this place is the view especially if you're able to sit outside.

Good food with a great view! Went here with my family, so we tried a couple of different dishes from fish and chips, the lobster dishes and the steak sliders and all were good. Our server was very accommodating and friendly, the food came out quickly even though it was a busy day. Does NOT give tourist trap vibes at all, really recommend giving this spot a try.

What's better than to spend a lazy afternoon by the lake with good food, music and service?! Plus it's so dog friendly. Parking isn't easy on the main stretch but you can find plenty parking one street away. The restaurant isn't easy to find, but know that it's easier to find if you walk along the water. I love the staff here, they were friendly, and always making sure if we were doing ok. The food was good and portions were huge. He prepared to take home some.

Ordered a Reuben. The sandwich was gigantic and delicious! I only ate half and took the rest to go. The fries were also nice and crisp! Matt the waiter was awesome!

Great experience at The Lagoon! Amazing views and great food. Our server, Valeri, was attentive and gave us great recommendations: chipotle bacon BBQ wings, Lagoon mac n cheese and the surf and turf sliders. Highly recommend this establishment!

The view of the lake made it worthwhile.

We visited The Lagoon off season (in October) when the choices were limited, splitting a Greek salad and a veggie lovers pizza. The Greek salad was good, fresh, and huge. The pizza was somewhat boring - both the crust and toppings were short on flavor. The service was A+, and the view of the lake made the boring pizza worthwhile.

    Steak au Poivre

Went on a Wednesday night at about 7pm, this is during the end of October so the season is mostly over and few places are still open. We were sat immediately and there were heaters throughout the room that kept it warm even though it's currently in the 50s and right on the water. Everyone ordered the special steak au poivre, it was absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly to our preference, the sauce tasted wonderful, I dipped my potatoes in it. The green beans were just okay, they were not fresh, but everything else was so good it didn't matter. I would 110% recommend ordering the steak au poivre. The server was very nice as well.

Shrimp tacos, steak tacos, and Cesar wrap!

Service was awesome!!! Food was great and vibes were high, perfect lunch spot for our senior trip! (Leo was an excellent server!)

No acknowledgment, candle, or mention of his birthday despite it being noted, so our expectations were modest. From the moment we arrived and were served cucumber water that was VERY refreshing, the Gem delivered a much better experience. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, and our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely engaged throughout the meal. The cocktail menu was creative and fun. While I felt the pours were a bit shallow for $18-$20 drinks, and the oversized ice cubes seemed to take up a lot of glass real estate, the drinks themselves were well-made and enjoyable. The food was the star of the evening. Everything we ordered was delicious, and it was easily one of our better meals during the trip. When it came time for dessert, we asked if they could add a candle so we could celebrate my husband's birthday. Unfortunately, the dessert station had already closed, leaving bread pudding as the only option available. While that was a bit disappointing, our server went out of their way to make the moment special by bringing over a mini mint cordial. There was still no candle, but the thoughtful gesture was genuinely appreciated and meant far more than a scripted birthday acknowledgement. The Gem struck a great balance between good food, a fun atmosphere, and attentive service. Our only regret is that we didn't have another day to try the outdoor seating area in the back, which looked fantastic. Maybe next time!

Most Americans generally associate slow-cooked, wood-smoked meat with the southern regions of these…read moreUnited States. Finding respectable barbecue in upstate New York requires a slight adjustment of geographic expectations. The Gem, located in Bolton Landing, attempts this feat with a wood-fired smoker and an ambitious cocktail program. My wife ordered the smoked chicken wings and a side salad. The wings possessed a deep smoky flavor and properly rendered skin. The salad performed its minimal duties without incident. My youngest son consumed the kids cheese fries. They were sufficient to satisfy an 11 year old's palate, though underwhelming when subjected to adult inspection. I selected the brisket, which spent hours absorbing hardwood smoke. The flavor was rich and beefy, though the cut was somewhat leaner than I prefer. In my experience, truly magnificent brisket requires a generous layer of rendered fat to achieve complete structural tenderness. This was good, but it was not that. The genuine masterpiece at our table belonged to my oldest son, who ordered the pulled pork. It was moist, tender, and properly seasoned. I found myself eyeing his plate with the quiet envy of a father who made the wrong selection at the counter. To assist with the meat, the establishment places four distinct sauces at every table: Texas Red, Carolina Copper, Georgia Mustard, and Alabama White. Experimenting with all four is an enjoyable exercise in flavor chemistry. The bar produces some of the finest craft cocktails in Bolton Landing, maybe in the entire Lake George region. The drinks are mixed with intelligence and high-quality spirits, which helps soothe the human nervous system after a long day in the sun. The primary defect of The Gem is monetary. Prices in Bolton Landing include an unwritten tax levied on tourists. Other local establishments justify these steep prices by offering a view of Lake George. The Gem sits on Lake Shore Drive, offering a view of asphalt and passing automobiles instead of water. Paying high-end prices for barbecue without a lake view attached makes the final bill a bit harder to digest. Still, the pulled pork and the cocktails were good enough to warrant a return visit. One must simply prepare to surrender a few extra dollars for the privilege.

Yuck. But their single lager and single pilsner are always good/consistent. And they have one meddle/award that they are proudly showing off, and they should but guess what kind of beer it is? A Pilsner. Take the hint you don't need 17 easy to make no effort IPAs that all taste the same. Food seems like an afterthought here. It's consistently average. They make a decent pizza here, but it's always soggy. The outside crust typically is perfect, often with a light char which is nice, but underneath the cheese and sauce, which they to put too much of on and undercook it, you wind up with a soggy slice of pizza that tastes OK. I also had their poutine recently. I can live with the vegetarian turkey gravy, which tasted pretty good, cheese curds were OK but what's going on with these fries? Soggy, brown. Are they brown because they're fry oil is disgusting? Are they just cooking the crap out of these things. I can't imagine that's the case because they're not crispy at all and taste awful. Waiting and bar staff seem to be wonderful people- they're attentive, food comes out relatively quickly. Service is not rushed. Atmosphere in this place is pretty good though I would like to have the music turned up a little bit louder so it's just not background noise and so you can actually hear the lyrics or discern what song is being played. Music done right can be part of the experience. Right now it's just a soft rumble in the background and it just becomes an annoyance. There's literally been extensive research on music in your restaurant and bar and how loud it's supposed to be and the music selection. Why places like this pay absolutely no attention to that research is beyond me. MUSIC IS IMPORTANT! Treat it that way please. Ultimately, even though the food is averaged to below average, and I can't hear the music, we continue to come back here because of the beer . Imagine if they put the same effort into their menu...
