My update is this place isn't the same as it was. I believe they are actively selling the business but something already seems changed from the kitchen. The eggplant and chicken Parmesan weren't as good. The chicken was thicker than before and even a little too crunchy. The stuffed shells would've been better homemade by myself. I don't think the original Mario's will ever return especially since they are selling the business. This might just be the last time we ever visit.

We have been coming here once a year for the past two years when my dad has a work convention. We usually come with a large group so we called ahead and made a reservation. Our server was really nice, he was a little overwhelmed with the amount of tables he had but we didn't mind. All of the food was really good, the ravioli are ginormous! The only negative I have was my dad and brother both wanted the seafood pasta but unfortunately they ran out. Other than that, nice place, would go again!

Pooh and I came here for supper tonight This place was packed and we were lucky to get a table without a reservation. We heard the reception on the phone turning people away because they were full We started off with a French Onion soup each and fresh, warm bread. After we had a salad each Pooh ordered the lasagna and I had the Italian platter. Both dishes were delicious and filling. For dessert we each had a specialty coffee. In Quebec we call it a café comique. Really a great supper and the staff was super friendly We will definitely be back

Ambiance was nice, service was great! Marinara made from scratch! Met the owner/chef. We will definitely be back

I first visited Mario's about 10 years ago and was quite pleased to hear they we're still in business. We were able to make sane day reservations which was for 6:30 on a Saturday'. The parking area behind the building is small and nearly every spot was taken just as it was on my first visit which is always a good sign. Mario's has simple decor, nothing fancy but when you walk in it just has that vibe that you'll be sitting down to a great meal. It's very homey and the wait staff are great. We were greeted with a smile and promptly sat at a table by the window which gave us a great view of the main Street and people walking by.. My meal (and my husband's) however was a bit lack luster. It wasn't bad by any means but there was certainly nothing memorable about it that would make it a required stop on my next visit to the Adirondacks. It was just ok- it didn't give me that "wow" factor that I remember from my first visit. But that's ok. I would still come back and give it another try. The couple seated next to us told the waiter that Mario's is a required last stop every time they are in town. That's the kind of restaurant this is - they probably have a favorite dish that they enjoy and look forward to. I think we just had a one off experience that ended up being so-so. This is a local establishment that has been around for a long time. Stop in and check them out. I imagine this is a favorite of a lot of people and I don't want to short change them over one so-so meal.

This being a tourist spot I expected something a little better. The food was blended and unseasoned. The chicken was beaten so flat it was a thin as paper.

Good classic Italian food which is a nice difference from the other restaurants in the area. They were able to take a reservation for 5 on a Saturday night last minute no problem. Mario came over to our table personally to ask how everything was and he was the nicest! I love how he cared about the guests and didn't rely on just the servers to ask how things were. He even too the time to ask about our trip to lake George and our friends wedding. He also took the time to explain the history of the building and how it was his grandmothers house and how it was structured before converted to the restaurant. Has a few parking spots off road which is nice. All our food was delicious and perfect portion size. Didn't overdo it, but felt full and content. Our friend got the chicken Marsala and said it was one of the best she has ever had. Meatballs had amazing flavor. Another friend got the sampler which is a great entree idea for someone who wants a little bit of everything. All meals come with a salad and most with a pasta side, both good. A good place for a special occasion (ours was a bachelorette party) or a date night. But also a place you can bring children too and not feel out of place. Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the hostess was rushing around and didn't give you that welcoming feeling (walking so fast she knocked over the water pitchers and didn't stop to pick them up, then when seating us she walked to our table, dropped the menus and kept walking without saying anything. We actually walked past our table to follow her not realizing that was our table). I also wish the bread came with dinner instead of having to order it for $5 - note you only got 6 pieces of bread too which for a party of 5 is a little sad. Will come back next time I'm in the area!! Thanks for a great meal, Mario!!

Consistency is what Mario's is about. Jason has been the Chef for a number of years and his food is delicious. We were seated promptly and Rachel our server, was very professional and her recommendations were spot on. We had our drinks and water and orders taken timely. I had the chicken piccata and it was perfect. A perfect lemon caper sauce with mushrooms. The chicken was thin and perfect. Cooked to order. Our group all agreed that there food was fresh and cooked perfectly. The stuffed shrimp and chicken Marsala came out fresh and hot. We enjoyed our drinks and our food came timely. We had a nice atmosphere to enjoy the evening. When you come to Lake George don't miss out.

Great place for dinner- good Italian dinner choices, drinks and wine. Waitress was fantastic, ambiance and food good, but a little pricey.

Mario's should be utterly ASHAMED to think that a plate for $25 involves three shrimp and three slices of eggplant for their parmigiana platter, with a watered down side of pasta and house sauce. The sauce for the parmigiana was different than the spaghetti - WHY?! I can taste the difference and you can too. I cook more generously for strangers! How do you justify that cost?! Hubby's plate was a little more substantial with chicken in his "vodka" sauce, and the quotation marks are there, because there was nothing "vodka" about the vodka sauce. Don't try to convince me this is Italian food at its finest, because it's really NOT. I come from 4th generation Italian-Americans, and this is maybe up there with Olive Garden. Get your recipes straight and your portions on better par; people are spending their good money on you, Mario's, and you certainly lost me as a future customer. Go to Massie's in South Glens Falls - they have been there for YEARS and know exactly what Nonna's food is supposed to taste like.

I'll admit that living near Trenton has made me a little spoiled when it comes to pizza, but even with that in mind, this was not great by any stretch of the national imagination. The main appeal was convenience. Giuseppe's was only a few steps from our hotel, and the idea of eating pizza on the balcony overlooking the lake at sunset sounded too good to pass up. The order was ready quickly, less than thirty minutes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, despite asking for utensils and plates both on the phone and again in person, they forgot them entirely. A short walk back to the shop solved the problem, and to their credit, the staff handed them over without any fuss. The pizza itself was the kind of food that serves a purpose but not a memory. The crust was too thick and doughy, the sauce had very little character, and the cheese existed mostly to keep everything from falling apart. It was utility-grade food sold at premium tourist-town prices. We knew we were paying that tax going in, but even so, it felt steep for what we got. Still, it did the job. Our family had a meal, the sunset over the lake was beautiful, and we went from phone call to first bite in under forty minutes on a Saturday night. For that, I'll give some credit. But for the pizza itself, there's not much to recommend. Three stars for speed and convenience, not for flavor.

Prices were also decent, making for what could have been a pleasant dining experience. However, I cannot recommend this place to anyone with even the mildest of mobility issues. After having to pick my uncle up off the steps outside, I was shocked by the lack of basic accessibility. Every step has a raised lip of about half an inch, there are no handrails, no handicap signage, and the parking lot is in a serious state of disrepair. I genuinely have no idea how this passed inspection. Thankfully, my uncle did not hit his head and will be okay aside from some soreness and bruising. I understand that running a small business is not easy, but skimping on safety--especially accessibility--is a non-starter for me. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant.

This was my first time visiting Lake George, and Boyfriend had been talking about this restaurant for years, every time we brought up coming here one day. Was a bit worried seeing many other reviews mentioning this place was dirty, but although everything looked super old, it was clean. Some stuff is "good old" - like the decor, cool light fixtures, jukebox etc; other old things such as the AC units and outdated bathrooms, should be upgraded. Pizza was fine! Boyfriend had a pepperoni slice and raved about it... I'm just glad he was so happy :) I had a plain cheese pizza slice, it was fine - very good thin crust but not enough cheese for my taste. At $14 for two slices and two sprites this was the cheapest meal out we've had in a very long time too, lol.

Their hand-tossed pizzas are delicious. I always remember watching the chef kneading and tossing fresh dough from the front window, visiting here always takes me back. After enjoying the day at Oktoberfest we wanted to grab a slice of pizza before heading home. We were able to grab a table right away as most customers were taking their orders to go. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The restaurant is a bit dated but I do like that they left the old CD juke boxes at the tables, once again, reminiscing about the old days. One downside is the restaurant and restrooms are not very clean. I'm sure there is a lot of people traffic here but they definitely need to improve in this area. We ordered the meat lovers ($27.43) with pepperoni only on one side. Our pie was out in about 20 minutes and was delicious. The large gets you 8 slices, we had four so it worked out to 2 slices each. The pizza was loaded with ingredients and the crust had just the right crispiness and chew. All-in-all, I had a great experience here and recommend them to anyone looking for a great slice of pizza in the Lake George area.
