Giuseppe's in Lake George is a reminder that while the food scene in the Village has come a long way in recent years, it still isn't exactly a food lover's paradise. I'll admit that living near Trenton has made me a little spoiled when it comes to pizza, but even with that in mind, this was not great by any stretch of the national imagination. The main appeal was convenience. Giuseppe's was only a few steps from our hotel, and the idea of eating pizza on the balcony overlooking the lake at sunset sounded too good to pass up. The order was ready quickly, less than thirty minutes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, despite asking for utensils and plates both on the phone and again in person, they forgot them entirely. A short walk back to the shop solved the problem, and to their credit, the staff handed them over without any fuss. The pizza itself was the kind of food that serves a purpose but not a memory. The crust was too thick and doughy, the sauce had very little character, and the cheese existed mostly to keep everything from falling apart. It was utility-grade food sold at premium tourist-town prices. We knew we were paying that tax going in, but even so, it felt steep for what we got. Still, it did the job. Our family had a meal, the sunset over the lake was beautiful, and we went from phone call to first bite in under forty minutes on a Saturday night. For that, I'll give some credit. We were visiting beautiful Lake George, NY and had a major hankering for Italian Food. If you know Lake George, you know the options are plentiful! We wanted to do something low-key and be able to eat outside. After driving around Lake George several times, we settled on Giuseppe's! We found parking while my guest put us on the wait list for the patio, roughly 15 minutes or so. The place is no frills and is all about the food. If you're looking for a five-star, fine-dining experience, this isn't the place. If you want a casual, no-frills authentic Italian meal, this is the place for you! We decided to start with drinks and an order of the Garlic Knots! The service is attentive and you can tell that many are family members/friends working the place. The garlic knots came out, we started with an order of three. They're served with red/marinara sauce for dipping. The knots were perfectly and brushed in herbs/oil/butter. Finger-licking good and leaving you wanting more! We also had our heart set on pizza. However, after seeing the size of the entire pizzas coming to surrounding tables, we decided to order slices. I got a slice of the classic OG cheese, add mushroom. The crust/undercarriage was perfect. Crispy without being too hard. No flop or sag. A proper slice of pizza. The sauce was just right like Mama Bear's Porridge. Not too sweet, not too acidic leaving you begging for a Zantac. The cheese was plentiful and the toppings generous. The single slice was just right. Given we only did slices, we decided to do a KIDS order of the Penne Vodka with a side of homemade meatballs. The kids size is easily enough for TWO to share if you've had appetizers and pizza. The pasta is cooked perfectly, al dente. The sauce is incredibly flavorful and well-rounded. Again, not overly sweet or acidic. It was also the right amount of sauce, the pasta wasn't "swimming" in the sauce. The homemade meatballs were incredible! Incredibly moist, flavorful, and tender, You can eat them with a spoon. Next time, I hope to try their Italian Sausage. If you're looking for a low-key, high-quality Italian spot in Lake George, give Giuseppe's a try! You won't be disappointed! read more

Amazing food. We're from Long Island and Italian and finding good pizza outside of Long Island and the city is hard... Giuseppe's delivers! Fried calamari was good, they add fried zucchini and fried peppers and at first I was like ehh but it all tasted great. We attempted to eat here during our vacation to Lake George. We arrived to the restaurant and got put on a waiting list and waited about 15 minutes for a table which was fine because it was summer and we understood it was a busy time. We happened to be here during a heat wave and it was 98° outside so we asked before we went in if they had air conditioning inside, and they assured us that they did and that it was very cool. We finally got seated at a table, and there were no fans on and none of the window air conditioners were running. It was extremely hot, but we were hungry and the kids really had their heart set on Italian for dinner so we decided to stick it out. We waited 20 minutes and not one person came to the table to greet us or to let us know that we were going to be served. So after 20 minutes of no service and being extremely hot, we stood up to leave, and then the waitress came by and seemed very offended and upset that we were leaving. This was an excellent restaurant! The garlic knots are very good, however, they could use a bit more garlic, but don't let that discourage you because the dough is very tasty! I would highly recommend it the chicken Parm is good too, but the breadcrumbs on it are a little more generic than what I would typically like. All in all, this is a very enjoyable restaurant experience. We had a hankering for pizza on our last night in Lake George and I recalled seeing on a LG FB page this establishment had the best pizza in town. They definitely lived up to the hype the large meat lovers pizza was by far one of the best pizzas I've had the pleasure of consuming in awhile. We headed up to Lake George on the Harley to do a little leaf peeping mid-week. We were staying next door at the Courtyard by Marriott, was looking for place to eat within walking distance after traveling three plus hours up from Connecticut, and decided to give Giuseppe's a try. It looks like your typical pizza joint that they added on in order to accommodate eat in patrons. Not wanting pizza, we ordered spaghetti and meatballs and penne ala vodka with chicken. The dishes arrived and were generous portions. My wife enjoyed her spaghetti and meatballs, my penne was average at best, just not super flavorful. We did order a round of garlic knots that were tasty. Prior to heading over to Giuseppe's, we stopped al the bar at the Courtyard for a drink and the bartender was generous with his pour, so the drinks we had at Giuseppe's seemed weak in comparison (we ordered separate shots to add to our drinks to kick them up a little). We ordered a slice of he black satin layer cake to share which clearly not made in house, probably Restaurant Warehouse. This an ok place for a quick bite, didn't try the pizza which was probably good. Hard to give more than three stars when I give top notch places in the City four and five stars. read more

Not only did the folks at Giuseppe's let us in after they had already closed, they went out of their way to warm up a couple slices for us. They didn't have to do that. But they did with a smile and zero hesitation. The pizza? Absolute fire. Thin, crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and that perfect cheese pull. But what really stood out was the kindness. Family and I stopped here driving through camping from Texas to Maine. Food was good, service was ok but they were short staffed so was expected. I ordered a "small" pizza and it was clearly enough food for me as I had leftovers. Family ordered lasagna, and spaghetti and they loved it.
