It was a cold, rainy day and we didn't want to out so Pooh suggested we order in. Number One Pizza had good reviews so we ordered some Italian food We each had a Caesar salad to start off and then we shared an all dressed pizza. When our food arrived it was cold. Not sure whose fault it was; the driver had been waiting at the restaurant at least 15 minutes before the food was ready. This is an update from two years ago. We have become regular patrons . The pizza is probably the best in the area( I haven't eaten at every pizzeria) NY style thin crust. Top quality ingredients. All of the dinner offerings are similarly well made and delicious. The parmigianas are excellent. The pasta is always al dente in a flavorful sauce. Try the stuffed shells! Tiramisu continues to be delicious. I don't understand why this place isn't always packed? Just a well-kept secret among locals I guess. read more

If you are in the Lake George/Bolton Landing area take the time to have a meal here. You will go back for more. It is located past the busy part of the downtown area, so it wasn't busy the day I was there. We had lunch after reading the positive reviews left on Yelp. (Thank you all!) It is a true family owned restaurant. I'm assuming the two were husband and wife. The chef and owner is 81 years old and is the one who prepares the majority of the food that you receive. We had the Eggplant Rollatini with side salads. For dessert the Tiramisu and Cannoli. It was all fabulous. The marinara on the pasta and eggplant is amazing. Definitely made by someone who cares about the food they serve. The lady that works the front and waits on people is very friendly. We were obviously not locals and she took time to make conversation and share about her family. Just go if you get the chance. The food far exceeds anything else in the Lake George area. read more

We got Pizza here and it was very good. We are originally from Long Island, which is known for it's pizza. Since moving here 2 years ago we have been trying different pizza places and this is one we will return to. This was a great stop for our group. Yelp and google had different opening times, but they let our group of 20 in as soon as we arrived, which was great because we wanted some AC. They had pepperoni rolls hot and ready for us, which were delicious. The pizzas were homemade, they didn't take long, and they were good. We did Hawaiian, pepperoni, and pep/sausage. Our family was short on time due to numerous ADK activities so we ordered out. This place was a pleasant surprise. Pizza, tossed salad, and mozzarella sticks. They also threw in some pepperoni rolls for free which my son older loved. Pizza was better than expected. Salad needs work, but good house vinaigrette. Kids loved the mozzarella sticks. At first, it was slow like there are 2 group of customers; an elderly couple and of course, me! I simply love the laid back and homey/comfy atmosphere. And the waitress was attentive and very approachable! Minutes before I left, it got packed! So much so, I feel bad for the waitress who served my food afterwards! The food? OMFG! Very simple and no BS! Their spaghetti & meatballs are to die for! The pasta has the perfect firm texture, mild marinara taste, and very fullfilling meatballs! Their white pizza does not stand out, it was more of a confort food above all else! It has that right amount of crunchiness yet not too oily either! Ambiance was comfortable for seating and practicing reasonable distancing even after laxed rules implemented. I have no idea what the other reviews talk about with rude customer service and tasteless food because we had a great experience here. The wife was extremely nice and welcoming as we talked while waiting for our pizza. Her husband, the cook, even came out to greet us as well. So our motel was directly across the street from the pizza place so we thought how easy! We will get a pizza and take it back to our room. It got pretty good reviews so we decided to take a chance. Upon stepping inside, we were pleasantly surprised by the dining room and we decided to eat there. The place was spotless -so clean and comfortable. We ordered a wine and a beer and looked at the menu. There were several specials as well as a few pasta dishes. We had our minds set on pizza so that's what we ordered. We got a white pizza with garlic, olives, hot peppers and onions. The pizza cans out quickly and was huge. Our request for blue cheese for dipping was taken care of quickly. The pizza was delicious! Alright, so I was up in Lake George with some friends and family for the week and we were just about wrapping up our vacation when a couple people in the group said, "Let's round off the vacation with a nice dinner tonight at an Italian place". Being an avid Yelper, I jumped at the opportunity to find a place. I read a bunch of reviews for Italian restaurants in the area that weren't too far off the beaten path since we had planned to spend part of the night downtown. I came upon Number One Pizza and, although the ambiance isn't exactly what I looked for, I figured maybe the food far outweighs the physical appearance. Evidently, there's no Number Two, Three, Four or even Fifteen Pizza anywhere near Lake George, because this place absolutely sucked. I don't know who all the people were that left the four and five star reviews, but I can only surmise they're family and close friends of the family that owns the establishment. For starters, the nightly special featured on the menu the night we went they were out of, and while extremely apologetic, if you're going to feature it as a special on your menu for the night and only have 6 people in your restaurant during peak dining hours, don't run out of it. Then, after having to order something else other than the special they were out of, the same person in our party ordered a meatball parmigiana panini, which wasn't. Rather, it was a plain as day meatball parmigiana hero. But hey, at least she was eating something. Unfortunately, I ordered the pepperoni and sausage calzone after it was recommended as being the house special, but after everyone else in our party received their meals (in 10-15 minute intervals of two meals coming out of the kitchen at a time...must be a new meal-staggering strategy so as to not overwhelm the exit door), I waited another 20 minutes to get mine. Given some of the comments made by the waitress, I can only guess it's because she never put the order in, which was re-affirmed when I saw it listed at the very bottom of the check at the end of the night. The table behind us had a similar experience, though someone in their party was brazen enough to say something, only to be bashed among the rest of the staff in front of other customers after they left. One of the waitresses even commented about her lack of concern because the customers were out-of-towners. I got news for you, Number One Pizza...your business only exists because of out-of-towners, so you should care a little more. The worst part of it all is that the calzone, when it finally came out, was delicious, as was the rest of the food per the others in my party. Unfortunately, this is one of the rare circumstances where the service and overall experience was such a train wreck that the quality of the food couldn't even bring the rating up to a 2-Star. Bottom line, don't EVER go here. read more
