Outdoor seating... View from host table

The sprawling deck, outside bar and boats docked on the Hudson all give the Basin Grill a full-on vacation vibe. I didn't feel like I was in Schuylerville when we took our seats on the patio overlooking the outside seating (since it was fully shaded). Friendly staff, pleasant service and some tunes in the background added to the relaxing environment. We started with the Brussels sprouts-a very generous portion of larger sized sprouts adorned with smoky bacon crumbles, dried cranberries and balsamic drizzle. Tangy, sweet, crunchy and cruciferous-ey. My only issue was that several sprouts still had the base/stem attached and were difficult to eat. The only other "complaint" is that the sharing plates were not entirely clean-something was stuck to the bottom of one (that was stacked on top of the other). No biggie. The cheeseburger and fries got rave reviews...from a burger "connoisseur". I grabbed several fries and they were just right...smaller, crispy and not greasy. I ordered three different tacos ($6 each): pulled chicken, blackened mahi mahi and regular mahi mahi. The corn tortillas were very tasty; each one of the tacos were excellent (because sometimes corn tortillas are meh!) and filled to the rim. Really enjoyed my experience and would definitely go back for another good, laid back meal.

So this place has outside seating And depending on where you sit outside a view. They have a tent with sides and pumped in heat with picnic tables that allows for social distancing. The draft beer selection is very good some local some seasonal. We ordered a few sandwiches and I ordered the fall risotto. This was a full meal in itself and delightful. The mascarpone risotto has excellent flavor was well cooked with perfect texture and with the micro greens and sliced radish on top I was extremely happy. The sprouts I added on in case the risotto was served in a way to make it an actual appetizer. They were also well seasoned and the drizzle on top to add the salt and vinegar flavor were good. I got a bunch stolen from our party. Go. Order just the risotto. You'll be glad you did.

Great location, very good menu and we really enjoyed all meals. Great service. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts as appetizer and the fresh mozzarella. Great salads, sandwiches and desserts.

    My loves lobster salad!

Our first visit to this establishment in Schuylerville NY. We arrived around 4:15pm to an almost empty space which surprised us as it was a delightful day. Casey our cheerful waitress was an awesome first introduction to the restaurant. My Manhattan was superb earning the bartender a special tip. Casey delivered our dinners with an amazing presentation. Our dinners were fantastic, just the right portions and so flavorful! I believe we have discovered a new favorite!

Food was good. Took a while to get silverware and napkins. Waitress was really nice and apologetic. Place looks great.

Ordered lobster roll. Lobster way overcooked. And looked like half a roll. Not worth the money after waiting half an hour

In fact, this location is in a marine on an alcove and has several slips for docking. The restaurant has outdoor dining on the large patio overlooking the water or along the deck. We were pleasantly suprised with the quality of food and service. The server was courteous, welcoming, and funny. Every one of our needs was attended to throughout the experience. I ordered a portabello mushroom sandwich with housemade fries. It was served with a balsamic glaze and a portion of their homemade garlic aioli which aside from that would have mad the meal fully vegan. My friend had the bacon cheeseburger topped with melted cheese and crispy thick smokey bacon, not that thin chain restaurant stuff. He really enjoyed it. With a Fiddlehead IPA draft it was an excellent meal. Did I mention how great the server was? Talk about being made to feel at home, we were treated like regulars. I hope the surgery goes well! We were made to feel like family and with the conversation with other customers I feel like that's how everyone gets treated which is awesome!! If you are taking a historic tour of the revolutionary war sites from the Saratoga Battlefields up to the surrender point at old Saratoga, now Schuylerville, or if you are cruising on the Hundson, stop in to The Alley Bar and Grill for an affordable meal and a delightful experience!

This is probably a more popular place during warmer months when a patio is open and boat docking is available along the Hudson River. There was only one table of four being served when we arrived at 6 p.m. on a Sunday. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the place is noticeably clean. There was a special on Wings, order 6 and get a dozen for the same price ($13.95). We chose the Whisky BBQ sauce to go with our Fiddlehead IPAs ($6/pint). The wings were meaty and tasty buy not real crispy. My wife didn't notice any whisky flavor, but I thought I did. We also tried the Fish Bites ($8.95) - pieces of haddock breaded and deep fried. They were a nice change from chicken fingers. While my wife ordered their Hawaiian Chicken Wrap Special ($10.95) - with pineapple BBQ sauce, provolone, and a side of cabbage salad, I had their French Dip ($12.95) - with onions, sauteed mushrooms, provolone, au jus, and a side of potato salad. Both dishes were very tasty and plentiful. We each ended up taking half of our meal home for next day's lunch. The food here comes across as home style and is a good value. I'd like to get back once the patio is open and try the hush puppies, a burger, and some of the desserts.

The price is on the higher side for this area but at the same time you have several things to factor in.. everything tastes homemade including the soups, the portions are large (my mom and I both had leftovers), and you are at a golf course as well so that already sets an expectation for elevated cost in my mind. The service was very friendly and you can tell they work hard, everyone is readily available to help you out while also constantly moving and making sure everyone has everything they need / having efficient table touches, etc. I had the Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo & my mother got the Ribeye.. they were both huge lol but they were also both cooked and prepared perfectly! They have a TON of alcohol selections - for seltzer / can people like myself FYI - they have High Noon, Truly, Surfside, all the good ones! The ambiance is great, it was pretty much a full house when we came and everyone was clearly enjoying themselves. The room when you first walk in has lots of tables by big windows and a bar, and then the back left hand side is full of gorgeous murals covering the walls and additional seating kind of in its own little corner. Overall, definitely recommend this place for a drink and a really nice dinner. Just come hungry and allow yourself the option to go home after with some leftovers! For our meals plus an alcohol beverage each, it was $70 or so, plus a tip.
