My sisters and I had a wonderful lunch here today at the outside bar right on the Hudson River. Amy our bartender was so nice and friendly. We had the best conversation with her. We had the Brussel sprout appetizer which was delicious. I had the French onion soup, (I admit, I do make it better) but still very tasty. My sister had the medium wings. She said they were tasty but she didn't get any flats, all drums. Note to ask for them the next time. My other sister had a burger, no bun and she enjoyed it as well. Probably the worst dining experience I've had in a really long time, Alexis was our "server". Between the 15 minute wait for drinks (not busy at all), then our drinks coming wrong, then being ignored to the point my husband had to get up and find our drinks, then not giving us a steak knife for my son's steak and then not coming back to the table for 15 minutes and now his steak is cold, The only thing it was prompt about our service was when we asked for the bill. We have been here several times. We love the food here and sitting outside by the river is so nice. The bar staff and Lori are amazing. However, tonight we had terrible table service. Alexis brought us a round of drinks and then did not return for 30 minutes. Our food was delivered and it took another 20 minutes before we could find her to get sour cream. We ended up having to go to the bar to order our drinks because she was nowhere to be found. I have served for many years and can understand when things are busy. But to not check on your large table for 30 minutes at a clip isn't good service: I appreciate the bartender and Lori who hustled their butts off to ensure we had what we needed. read more

The sprawling deck, outside bar and boats docked on the Hudson all give the Basin Grill a full-on vacation vibe. I didn't feel like I was in Schuylerville when we took our seats on the patio overlooking the outside seating (since it was fully shaded). Friendly staff, pleasant service and some tunes in the background added to the relaxing environment. We started with the Brussels sprouts-a very generous portion of larger sized sprouts adorned with smoky bacon crumbles, dried cranberries and balsamic drizzle. Tangy, sweet, crunchy and cruciferous-ey. My only issue was that several sprouts still had the base/stem attached and were difficult to eat. The only other "complaint" is that the sharing plates were not entirely clean-something was stuck to the bottom of one (that was stacked on top of the other). No biggie. The cheeseburger and fries got rave reviews...from a burger "connoisseur". I grabbed several fries and they were just right...smaller, crispy and not greasy. I ordered three different tacos ($6 each): pulled chicken, blackened mahi mahi and regular mahi mahi. The corn tortillas were very tasty; each one of the tacos were excellent (because sometimes corn tortillas are meh!) and filled to the rim. The service was lackluster and the food was not much better. I looked forward to the lobster roll all afternoon, but was so incredibly disappointed that it had almost no meat, and for $28.00, I had 4 small bites of lobster- an absolute FAIL. My husband had the tuna tacos that were served on stale shells, making them another disappointment. Two of our friends had the lemon chicken and the salmon, which were delicious. We happened to be traveling near Saratoga Springs and I wanted to take my wife to some place we hadn't been. It was a Tuesday and specifically her birthday. So I decided to try the Basin Grill. Looked it up on Yelp, had good reviews, menu looked great so we made the trip. It's a nice, canal front restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating. However, when we were seated and presented with the menus there was something not right. It was way smaller that what I looked at online. Then I noticed (Monday/ Tuesday menu) printed at the top. Our waitress (quite lovely and very new) explained that they had started to offer a smaller menu during slower days. (Wish their website had mentioned that). The food was good albeit not what I wanted to order but we were there and hungry so we stayed. We witnessed other couples get up and leave. I would try it again on a Wednesday through Sunday. So this place has outside seating And depending on where you sit outside a view. They have a tent with sides and pumped in heat with picnic tables that allows for social distancing. The draft beer selection is very good some local some seasonal. We ordered a few sandwiches and I ordered the fall risotto. This was a full meal in itself and delightful. The mascarpone risotto has excellent flavor was well cooked with perfect texture and with the micro greens and sliced radish on top I was extremely happy. The sprouts I added on in case the risotto was served in a way to make it an actual appetizer. They were also well seasoned and the drizzle on top to add the salt and vinegar flavor were good. We visited here for the first time Sat 4/30/22. We wanted to get some food & drink after going to Washington County Fairgrounds Antique Fair & Flea Market (more fleas than antiques). But walking around for three hours sure did make us thirsty. The Basin Grill next to the Schuylerville Yacht Basin was on our way towards the Northway so it was the perfect stop on a nice sunny day. Beautiful outdoor deck next to the Hudson River. And as this was was the first nice spring day we wanted to be outdoors all day. I'll mention here that the yacht club has full marine services for seasonal & transient boaters, RV sites, container cabin rentals, kayaks & paddleboards rentals-all your boating needs. You can tie up to their docks if you are going to The Basin Grill. The Basin Grill was very busy when we got there 3:30pm and it was filling up fast. Our party of six was seated at a comfortable table for eight. OPur server was Lori S. who acknowledged us immediately. She directed a co-worker to bring water to our table as she took our drink orders. Lunch orders placed then & drinks delivered promptly. My Bloody Maria (yes, w/ tequila) was excellent even w/o the usual celery & olives. I had two blackened Cajun Mahi tacos ($6.each)-very good w/ an added splash of Tabasco sauce. Other lunches were burgers w/ a choice of six sides ($14). Salads ($5-13, sm & lg). Sandwiches ($13-18), (lobster roll mkt $). Entrees mac-n-cheese ($14) to steak ($38). Varied fare to suit all tastes & appetites. "Not the cheap stuff Lovey. This is the yacht club." LOL. Total for six lunches, 12 adult beverages, tax & tip was $240. More than fair. By the time we left just at 4:25pm the deck was almost full. There is also an indoor bar & restaurant. Despite the crowd, Lori S and her co-worker did a great job. Our first visit to this establishment in Schuylerville NY. We arrived around 4:15pm to an almost empty space which surprised us as it was a delightful day. Casey our cheerful waitress was an awesome first introduction to the restaurant. My Manhattan was superb earning the bartender a special tip. Casey delivered our dinners with an amazing presentation. Want to have some good food on the waterfront. This is the place to go while in the Saratoga area. They have a new fall menu. We had the maple chicken and a chicken club. The maple chicly I got the burnt Brussels sprouts. The chicken was a full breast slightly pounded to tenderize and coated in a creamy glaze flavored with maple bourdon and topped with roasted pecans. A wonderful fall meal. The burnt Brussels were a fantastic combo but they off a root vegetable as the standard. The chicken club had a deliciously moist and tender breast with crispy bacon tomato and lettuce on a brioche bun. Perfectly balanced and went well with a side salad with blue cheese. Drinks served in plastic cups would be the only complaint. Service was excellent with an attentive wait staff. Definitely would come again. And the advantage of sitting on the deck by the water was wonderful. Dessert was a smooth and creamy Reese's peanut butter pie. read more

We just happened upon this place while out for a drive. We had no expectations but were quite happy to sit in the sunshine on the beautiful large deck. The fried calamari appetizer was one of the best versions I've ever had, served with delicious micro greens and a dipping sauce that should be bottled for sale. I ordered a BLT which came with 6 slices of applewood bacon - which frankly is too much bacon for me, but who is going to complain about too much bacon (?). My husband had a delicious chicken sandwich and what he reports was a great local draft beer. They were clearly understaffed and our waitress was running to serve us, but always with a smile on her face. We took advantage of the family special option, and had a "car picnic" at the park across the street from the Basin Grill. Our preference to bypass in restaurant dining is not a reflection on the establishment; my +1 is a cancer survivor, restaurants are taking adequate precautions but w/a compromised immune system, being around other patrons is risky. I used toasttab to order in advance, and went in to pick up our order at the requested time. The transaction could not have been easier. The interior of the restaurant and bar area were immaculate. Our order was ready at the requested time and service was prompt, genuinely personable, attentive and very polite. As noted, we prepared in advance for in-vehicle dining, including bringing our own plates & cutlery. We took advantage of the family dinner deal, and had the short rib ravioli in a sherry cream sauce with mushrooms. Let me apologize for buying the lead earlier.. they were the BEST ravioli I've ever had... hands down. Homemade pasta, perfect pasta to filling ratio. The short rib was succulent, flavorful.. paired beautifully with the sherry cream sauce. Each ravioli was a silky little pillow of delectable goodness. The meal included a full family size house salad and 4 light fluffy flour dusted dinner rolls, all for $32. Portion size was BEYOND generous; feeds 2-4). And we both wanted to try the pear walnut blue cheese salad, so we ordered that, too. Sweet chunks of perfectly ripe winter pear, bits of tart blue cheese dressing and candied nuts.. it was very satisfying and we loved the acidity of the dressing in contrast to the rich sauce of the ravioli. We have enough leftovers for a full dinner, tomorrow. Total bill before tip was $43.00 The Mr and I will be car-picnicking 1x a week at Basin. The only problem w/b exploring the menu when the 1st dish knocked our socks off.. deviation seems like an impossible feat! So.. if I could offer a suggestion, maybe add small plates? Also, with all due respect to the reviewer who took off a star for lack of music, with food this good the server could have whistled the alphabet and i would have been just as happy. Had an early light dinner with my son today. The Calamari was exquisite and probably the best I've eaten, and I've had many from coast to coast! My 19 year old son tried it for the first time & loved it. The Lobster Roll, not the traditional mayo salad but large chucks with clarified butter on the side. $16 for 3 pieces of shrimp with a subpar cocktail sauce. I was shocked and wondered if I had been served some sort of side appetizer instead of the "Basin special" shrimp cocktail. When the bill came out I was surprised that wasn't the case. Burger and Wings were okay but nothing special for the prices. They didn't have the liquor for the house special "skinny" drink so I got Gin and Tonics that cost $9 and weren't particular good OR strong. Staff were nice and responsive without being overbearing but it was hard to stomach $5+ a piece for those shrimp and we won't be visiting again unless the prices come down significantly. read more

I understand they may be understaffed, but the place was almost empty on a Wednesday night and severs were putting away chairs and closing up at 7 pm while we waited. We were the ONLY table inside Food was overpriced and something you could get anywhere for much cheaper. Weirdly the soda was flat, so I am assuming they have a broken soda machine, but we didn't have a server so I sat for another half hour before I could ask for a water instead. Food was all cold, so I assume it sat while the servers ignored our table. While we were there two other tables got up and left. The lobster risotto was extremely salty (actually everything was salty) and the steaks were all served well done, despite how ordered. One member of our party sent his back twice, wanting medium-rare and getting well done. The other just ate the well done steak. When the second steak was sent back, the waitress brought the bill. He wasn't even asked if he wanted something else for dinner. We weren't asked if we wanted coffee/dessert. No manager came to speak to us. Nothing.
