I had a wonderful first experience here! It was super cute inside with authentic local charm. I walked in and was immediately greeted! When I explained that I drive by all the time but it was my first time in, they welcomed me and thanked me for my business! They were very gracious when I needed a few minutes to review the menu and answered all my questions with enthusiasm. I just couldn't believe how good the service was! I ordered the Lox bagel sandwich, I believe it is called the Fisherman on a toasted onion bagel with a Chai tea latte. They have an impressive selection of cream cheese flavors available (I chose the bacon scallion) and they loaded my sandwich with delicious fresh veggies! Both my sandwich and my latte were absolutely wonderful! I was honestly shocked how on point everything was! No criticism and no critiques, please just keep up the good work and the food quality and I will be back soon! I happened to stop in on a rainy morning for coffee. They are open early, and I'm pretty sure they close by 1pm. Definitely check out their website for business hours before heading over. It's a cute family friendly establishment and they had more tables than I thought. I was pleased to see that they had a wide variety of coffee drinks as well as good bagel and breakfast and lunch options. It was unfortunate that I already had other plans for breakfast, so I only got a large hot mocha coffee to go. Service here was fast and everything seemed to move along smoothly. I wanted to love my hot mocha but I thought it was just okay. The coffee and chocolate flavor didn't have as much depth as what I'd like. Maybe they are known for their other coffee beverages and breakfast and lunch options. I'll have to revisit and grab a bite here next time. read more

every time i've passed by coffee planet in the past it has been closed, so i was pleased to finally get to try their drinks. the space is quite small but cute. it would probably be hard to get a table at peak hours. the baristas were really friendly and patient as we decided what to order. i ended up getting a cherry vanilla iced green tea (special) which was lightly sweet and very refreshing. my friend got the raspberry coffee cake latte. i am not much of a coffee drinker, but the raspberry flavor was very nice and not overwhelming. my friend said it was the best coffee they've had in a very long time. their specialty beverages are very creative and seem quite high quality. i will likely be back to try their food; i wish their tea offerings were slightly more comprehensive. read more

This was my first time in Ballston Spa and was surprised to find 2 coffee shops so close to each other. Although, I suppose that is not uncommon. I got here right when it opened on a Saturday morning. The pastries were still mostly wrapped in cellophane. The chocolate croissant was good - though, not sure if it was fresh. But, still a good combination of chocolate and flakey exterior. The egg and cheese on an everything bagel, was sadly not up to par. The bagel was chewy despite being toasted. The whole affair was kind of uninspired. They do have a lot of creative sandwich options, so maybe best to stick with those. Love coffee planet! There's so many reasons you'll frequently see a line out the door and sometimes for hours. Their bagels are fresh, their cream cheeses are unique, large variety of beverages and just all around a friendly environment. Finally made it to Coffee Planet! I was surprised at how large it is inside. We only stopped by for coffee but I think I'll head back there to try one of their specialty sandwiches and/or bagels. There are tons of beverage choices/concoctions...I was momentarily overwhelmed. I had an iced Mex-mocha, which is very tasty...basically a mocha with a little cinnamon to kick it up a notch. I like that they have alternative milk options, so I had mine with almond milk. Soy, oat and skim are also available. Solid reviews on the chai latte. Friendly service. By the time we arrived, there were several people already on line for breakfast. I decided not to be put off by the line. I was right, because it moved quickly. I ordered an iced latte. They didn't have almond milk. So I had it with whole milk and it was delish. My egg sandwich was simple. Not greasy and not a fast food production. If you want fancy, they can do that, too. My husband had the breakfast special. I forget what it was, but he thought it was great. After getting orders, finding a free table was easy. There was plenty of seating both inside and out. This is my favorite quick spot for breakfast. The bagels are amazing (as well as all of the different sandwiches you can make out of them.) The coffee is always delicious and there are so many fu. Absolutely loved this place. Was in town for a wedding and it was the perfect spot for the morning after egg sandwich and coffee. My first time the service was slow and had mediocre bagels so I wanted to give it another shot before making a decision. I tried it again with my family this morning and we waited 25 minutes for two toasted bagels and a coffee. My bagel was warm and fresh which was nice. My wife's was not toasted as requested and was slightly stale. The coffee is good but it would have been nice to have a sip or two while waiting 25 minutes for two bagels. Truly a great coffee place! Stopped in here on the way to a gig in Saratoga Springs and I'm certainly glad I did. The iced coffee here was quite delicious and a very big large. While they were our of roastbeef, I ate a pastrami and swiss on wheat with mayo, lettuce tomato and onion and it was very, very good! The pastrami was lean and tasty and I liked that in the to go process, they separated out the two halves of the sandwich. I've always like this place and I still do however my gripe is with my egg sandwich. Upon eating it I noticed the eggs had a greenish hue which means it was over cooked. Please get rid of the microwaves which most likely caused this to happen. Not only does it look tacky but I can microwave eggs at home for way less than what I paid for. Everything else was great. Best COVID friendly experience I've had. You order at the outside walk up window; with contactless payment and then walk to another area outside to pick up. Everyone was wearing masks and keeping socially distant. Plus everything we got was delicious. Excellent soy latte and bagels. One of favorite stops on my way to Glens Falls from Syracuse. I have been coming to this place since the 90s. I have the pleasure of reviewing it today. I saw nitro brew! Never saw that before. Coffee is on par with other boutique coffee vendors. No Siphon so I am not a big fan of it. But the nitro brew sounds interesting. Not bad for a cold cup of coffee. Who drinks cold coffee anyways. What tipped this to a five star for me was all the kid friendly things to do. Puzzles, chess, etc. I had the turkey club and tomato soup. Great soup, sandwich was a vegetable bonanza but it could of had more meat. Parking is no problem because there is a public lot across the street. Good music from my era and plenty of room and tables. I recommend if you are passing through. Oh I never got my bottle of water. One of the endearing continuing revelations about living in the CRUST (Capital Region of UpSTate, as we're calling it) is the relatively smooth distribution of population across our little cities and pre-urban towns. This produces nice surprises like a decent coffee place in the small town of Ballston Spa, Coffee Planet, where one really ought not to be if you just look at the size of the town. Ballston Spa itself has a downtown that is livelier in a way than Schenectady's, and I always take the slight detour to go through it when I'm wending my way through this part of Saratoga County. Coffee Planet has beckoned to me before, but I finally availed myself of its services for lunch-and-coffee, and I daresay it's in the upper tier for the hangout coffee café in the CRUST. So the first plus here is they could tell me where they get their beans; they're Panache customers, which is a Farmer Brothers subsidiary and not quite on the fair trade/sustainable/organic end of the spectrum but they're higher on the quality end of things, and the blends were all good (yes, I tried six) even if the roasting is done off-premises. It gets an acceptable three-plus stars on the coffee maven spectrum. Then they've got really decent sandwiches and baked goods, including a yummy multi-pepper wrap. We're not quite beyond what one could make at home given enough time and motivation but it was really nice and prepped fresh. Ice cream available. Then we've got the amiable hangout joint in an old 19th century brick corner office building (the former "Hannah") with the tin ceiling and the old tile floors and the used book shelf and the local art hanging on the walls and the casual two-room layout. Seating is cafe - no comfy lounge chairs - but casual. Nice vibe. So our bottom line is it was well worth a stop and a loll. read more

You know those small town places where you walk in and everything goes quiet, all eyes on you, the stranger in the small town? That's how I felt in Coffee Planet. On our way out of Albany we were needing some coffee. I saw the Coffee Planet sign on the highway (you know on the blue food signs) and thought, sounds like a non chain, let's stop. Well Coffee Planet is actually a bit of a drive off the highway, but it was through the really cute town of Ballston Spa, so we didn't mind. Their menu was quiet large, and they have really good fresh apple cider, served hot or cold. Minus 1 star for treating us like outsiders. read more

I love stopping into Coffee Planet for a drink and/or sandwich either to-go for the road or to enjoy in the cafe while working. It's a bright place to spend your day and often has live music. It can get a little crowded on weekends but I like the vibe. Sometimes the service can be slow. Last time I stopped in for sandwiches it took nearly 20 minutes and we were in a rush. They were also not as high quality as usual. However, this was a one-time lackluster experience. read more
