Grabbed some breakfast here while waiting for a train. It was very conveniently located and had a good amount of seating. They had a large menu with vegan and vegetarian options, as well as a "grab and go" breakfast sandwich station for those in a rush. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly. I got a hot chocolate and a Humpty Dumpty avocado toast, and both were delicious. I'd love to come back next time I'm in town!

Lemonade. It was just a little too sweet so I had to add water.

Today I had breakfast at "BUD's on Jay" in Schenectady, NY. My sister took me so I didn't know what the town had to offer as I was there visiting. When we walked along the quaint street, it was in a section of town that was full of art, theatre and history. The restaurant had a full menu of choices from coffees, wraps, sandwiches and platters. The prices were so reasonable and the staff was really kind. They brought great energy and allowed all to be served. The attention to details recognized. Once we order, we sat and when the food was brought to our table number, it was hot, fresh and good. It seemed like my hot breakfast sandwich was made with detailed care. I really appreciated that. The lemonade was just a little too sweet so I asked for water to dilute it some but it was good. The experience I had was a joy and I would definitely recommend it to those who are looking for a great place to sit and enjoy good food with fantastic ambiance.

The cafe has generous seating and many parking options on State Street and the LAZ lot on the south end of Jay Street. I visited to purchase whole beans because my normal coffee delivery was delayed. The barista was helpful showing me the options available for purchase . I asked if the Bourbon blend was ready to sample and she generously gave me a full cup to sample. I am really enjoying the Bourbon infused blend. The price is high for one pound $26 but the house bend was more reasonable. I also signed up for a reward program which is a nice perk. I will be back for more coffee and some snacks.

The customer service here was really exceptional. From the moment I stepped up to the counter the employees took the time to insure they were taking my order correctly and even informing me of all the options they had available. I got a BEC on a croissant and it was actually a nice breakfast sandwich! It was filling and exactly what you want with a BEC- the croissant was a bit greasy, but nothing too too much. I might suggest the bagel here. Really impressed and satisfied!

Wasn't sure why there weren't many reviews but I always get coffee in the AM here when I'm visiting and staying downtown. Get spot with great coffee and all the fixings. Has a good menu too. But a nice place to get a good coffee and sit to enjoy it.

Seriously, there are so many choices I almost needed a life coach. Everything is fresh -- you can taste that the lettuce didn't come from a bag. The staff? Friendly, patient, and clearly used to people standing there in awe trying to decide between turkey or Italian for ten minutes straight. And can we talk about how clean this place is? You could eat off the floor -- though please don't, they worked too hard to keep it that spotless. It's trendy in that way that never stops being cool -- kind of like vinyl records, or good manners. Lyle's Hoagies proves that old-school still rules the lunch game.

I'm not sure why but there were new people working the counter making subs. Our 2 subs were terrible. They were lacking the usual amount of meat and vegetables. I had mix sub and it had probably 3 pieces of meat and same for my husband's which was a super Italian and lacked the usual amount of ingredients. There was more roll than anything else. The price wasn't any cheaper just the quality of the subs. We will not be back, you lost 2 loyal customers. I don't know what happened??? . Is it under new management? Was it sold?. It's too bad. You are going to lose loyal customers this way.

R Gershon's Deli (Facebook) Dear Friends of Gershon's, It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with our loyal customers, friends, staff, and extended family. I have made the incredibly difficult decision to close Geshon's Deli & Caterers. Friday, January 30th, 2026, was our final day. This decision was not made lightly as Gershon's has been an integral part of my life since I was a little girl. After my father's untimely passing, I took over with one clear mission, to honor his legacy, keep his dream alive, and continue providing quality service and "good food for good people." For more than 60 years, Gershon's has been shaped by the people who walked through our doors. Every employee, customer, client, and friend has played a role in our story and our success. Unfortunately, rising food costs, ongoing economic challenges, the lasting effects of COVID, and the loss of my final opportunity this week have left me with no other choice. To everyone who has supported me over the past nine years, thank you. Thank you for the memories, for trusting us with your celebrations, holidays, milestones, and everyday moments. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives, in both the joyful times and the hard ones. I will miss seeing you all more than I can put into words. I am deeply grateful for the love and support you've shown me and my family over the years. I wish vou all nothina but the best. Please take care

On good days, they can serve one of the best sandwiches. Otherwise, I've had several occasions where I was left wondering why my pastrami sandwich was literally two pieces of bread with a small bit of pastrami - no dressing or anything else, and no questions asked. I like the attentiveness of the staff whenever we come here in person whether for diner in or takeaway, and their fresh pickles are wonderfully crunchy and worth looking forward to. They have some delicious pies, too, and the chocolate cream pie is our fave. I would go back, but the inconsistency over time certainly has dampened my enthusiasm that I may have once had.

Ever since, I try to stop by about three or four times a year to enjoy the food and ambiance. The owners Mike and Barb are retiring 7/31/24 after fifty years. May they enjoy their retirement. The new owners, a couple from Schenectady, will keep the name and the menu. Bravo! It is a lot of work and long hours, but it was evident that the owners enjoyed their business and their customers, many of whom became regulars. You noticed that the food they prepared was made with love and expertise. It was consistently good. The menu has been constant over the years because it pleased customers and made the place a success. The roast beef and turkey are cooked daily. Plus, the potato salad and macaroni salad are made in house every morning by Barb. I had to stop by today to honor my memories of eating here over the years. I had a huge roast beef and turkey mix on rye with thousand island dressing and macaroni salad. Delicious as always. I took half home for my husband to enjoy. He did! My friend enjoyed a huge roast beef sandwich and a potato salad side. Even the dill pickle spears taste incredible here! It must be the yummy sandwich. We sincerely hope the quality and ambiance continue with the new owners. If that is the case, I look forward to supporting them. It is so much better than a chain restaurant.

But also... facts are facts and the facts are DELICIOUS. It was a full-on snowstorm, the weird dead zone after Christmas where everyone else is like "nah, we're closing early," and Perrecca's was like: "We ride." Just me and the wife, snow coming down sideways, and this place is warm, welcoming, and absolutely cranking out hot food. And I mean HOT hot -- not "restaurant hot," but "careful-that-plate-is-trying-to-burn-your fingerprints-off" hot. Love to see it. Food? Super tasty. No notes. Service? Solid across the board. Bathrooms? Clean enough to eat off of (I didn't, but I could've). Parking? Plenty of off-street, no parallel parking Olympics required. Now let's talk about the hostess -- because WOW. She works the room like she personally built the place brick by brick. Touches every table, warm, friendly, checking in -- you'd swear her name was on the sign out front. Absolute pro. Hospitality Hall of Fame behavior. Between the legendary bakery, the attached restaurant, and the fact that they stayed open when the weather said "stay home," this place is a must-see Schenectady institution. Come hungry. Leave happy. Possibly leave with extra bread you didn't plan on buying but somehow needed. Would go back in a blizzard. Would go back tomorrow. Would go back just for the vibes.
