The Neighborhood Kitchen in Milton opened recently on Rowland St. This casual eatery and market is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner serving a variety of homemade dishes including breakfast sandwiches, light fare, salads, kettle soups, hot dogs, sandwiches with chips, pasta dishes, comfort entrees, sweets, and cooler drinks including Red Bull. The prices are moderate here. I placed an online order for lunch recently via Toast and ordered the Lunch Chicken Saltimbocca ($13 plus tax) and the Lunch Bourbon Meatloaf ($14 plus tax). My food was hot and ready when I arrived 30 minutes later. The lunch portions were just right as I slowly enjoyed both lunch entrees for dinner at my home. The Chicken Saltimbocca had a pan seared chicken breast topped with melted mozzarella cheese, prosciutto over capellini and spinach. The Little Bourbon Meatloaf was soft with good flavors with soft mashed potatoes and spinach. Both dishes were great choices and I would definitely try some other their other offerings here such as their gnocchi bolognese and pan seared salmon.

Neighborhood kitchen catered my son's wedding last night & the presentation & taste of all the food was absolutely perfect! Best charcuterie display I've ever seen. I literally couldn't stop eating cause all the food tasted so delicious. Absolutely loved the family style portions as well.

Their food is fresh and excellent. Much better quality than most of the local places.... however $9 for a skinny slice of pie is ridiculous

I was told they are "off the Northway at Exit 16" but they are more specifically at the corner of Ballard and Route 9 which is a couple of miles off the freeway. I ordered the #3 Meal ($16.50) with Chicken Skewer, Pork Skewer, 2 Lumpia, Pancit noodles, & soft white rice, packed in a paper box and thin wooden flatware. The grilled marinated meat skewers were very tender and had good flavors. The hot fried lumpia with sweet chili dipping sauce was also pretty good. The pancit noodles (very thin glass noodles) were tossed with veggies, peppers, green onion, cilantro, seasonings, and tender pieces of chicken, had a nice blend of flavors. I would stop by again for Filipino eats if I am passing by this spot on the way to Corinth.

So, you might want to check them out on Facebook before attempting to seek them out off Exit 8 of the Northway. Are they worth seeking out or stopping by if you are in the neighborhood? First of all, their menu is limited, sandwiches (chicken, burger, hot dog, sausage, egg), tenders, fries, rings, mozzarella sticks, hash browns, poppers and drinks. Maybe it'll expand in the future. My first experience was trying the Sausage, Pepper & Onion sandwich ($9) and Onion Rings ($4). Keeping in mind that I've generally made at least one annual excursion to a competitor about 2,000 feet East on this road to satisfy my sausage sandwich and onion ring craving for the last 25 years, I was curious if anything here would come close to satisfying. While we waited for our order, we spoke with the wife of the husband-and-wife team owning the food truck. Very personable people. Our food was obviously made-to-order since we waited at least 10 minutes for the carryout container to be handed to us. Opening the container at home was the first surprise. Expecting to see a sausage patty on a hamburger bun, instead we saw a long link of sausage on a section of a sub-style roll - think county-fair sausage peppers and onions. This sausage was delicious. It had good texture, flavor, and spiciness. Peppers were a combination of chopped red, yellow, and green, and the onions did not overpower. The roll was fresh and soft. This may be my new preference. The onion rings were a surprise also. The coating was thick, very crunchy, and did not fall off the onion. The other standout was that there was no oily mess. Even as they later cooled, they did not have that lingering taste of oil. There is no question that I'll be back to try something else. Parking is available behind the food truck. Pull in the driveway alongside the food truck.

The craziness of…read morethe new rage, from an oldie but goodie, and the committment from the owner to make his/her greateness available at reasonable price and in cool digs. Now, I wouldn't call the New York State Capital lawn cool digs, but seeing as it just a few blocks away and plenty of green grass, park benches, picnic tables, and other seating, how can one resist coming out here for a stroll and a great bite to eat? Not to mention, it is the only place in Albany where you can find 4-5 food trucks to choose from, which makes me feel sad, as that number is low compared to other progressive cities like, San Diego, San Francisco, Austin, Dallas, New York. It also upsets some people that the capitol gets special treatment for placement of food trucks, but let's save that for another day. Michele's looked good. I was simply craving a burger and fries. However, I've learned from my food trucking, that fries can be somewhat of a challenge. Either soggy, dried, or just not right. I hate suffering through that, so instead, I ordered the tots they have. Being a chemist by nature, I don't know what it is with tots, but you can hardly mess them up. They always come out crispy on outside and nice and hot inside. Michele's did not disappoint. I ordered my 0.3lb burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The film broke loose and this movie came to a screeching halt when I heard, "We are out of onions." "Ahhhhgg," I thought, as in my opinion a burger just isn't a burger without onions. Before I could complete my sigh of disbelief, the server said, "We can put some fried onions on it, if you want. Will take a little longer." I was ecstatic. Not because I got my onions, albeit in a different form, but the food truck guy did not have to offer this, but he did. Why? I don't know, ask him, but I can guess it is because they have that food truck service mentality of "Let's take care of our special customers." It did take a little longer but was worth it. The cook handed me a freshly cooked cheeseburger with fried onions and tater tots. He even warned me that the tots were piping hot just out of the fryer. Really nice touch. I will definitely be back and try their other menu items which look really good including the clam, even though I am not a big clam fan.

I miss having a diner that's super close to home with an outstanding breakfast/brunch offering and reasonable pricing. Over The Moon in Schuylerville was my go-to spot and I haven't replaced them since they shut down. If I were being completely honest, my experience here was actually closer to 2 or 2.5 stars. Service was great and everyone was friendly. They clearly work very, very hard. But most of the food was served lukewarm and cold-ish. The potatoes were burnt...and I like mine well done....but I couldn't even get my fork through some of them. Burnt yet cold...not a great combination. Same with my breakfast burrito...the cheese was only partially melted and it just wasn't hot. Coffee was strong. Plenty of half and half on the table. The other breakfast was also "meh" and not quite hot, either. Giving them the benefit of the doubt; perhaps I just hit them on an off day.
