Chicken 65
Sanna A.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 3/5 I recently dined at a restaurant in downtown Hayward, and I was impressed by the friendly server who recommended some dishes. The food had flavor, and I appreciated the option to order naan without butter - a rarity at South Asian restaurants.

Vegetable steam momo
Jennifer C.

Came to try the momos and was a little disappointed. Flavor was okay, texture was okay, but I wish the skin was a bit thicker and there was a bit more bite to the momo. Also just feel like the flavor was a bit one dimensiobal and relied a bit too much on spice. Would be willing to come back to try the butter chicken and curries and naan which looked great, but might skip the momos next time.

This was the first time trying Aama and absolutely coming back! We got every medium spicy and could have turned the heat up a bit more but was worried how spicy they would do it. We ordered the chicken mono, matar panner, and lamb vindaloo. Everything was delicious! The naan and paratha was 10/10 and honestly could have passed on the roti. It was more like a tortilla & wasn't a huge fan.

Aama's Kitchen features Nepalese and Indian dishes in a hole-in-the-wall setting. To start, the Chicken Jhol Momo was a bowl of steamed dumplings filled with minced chicken mixed with aromatics, all floating in a creamy, spiced Himalayan soup made with soybean and sesame. While the dumplings and filling were tasty, the orange-colored soup was surprisingly bland. For my entree, the Nepali Thali was a round metal platter that came with rice, naan, papadum, dal, saag (mustard greens), mixed vegetable curry, mixed pickle, sliced cucumbers/carrots, raita, and a main curry dish of choice (I got the bone-in goat curry). The quality and flavors of the items were just average, but the components still came together to make a balanced meal. Overall, the food here paled in comparison to other Nepali restaurants in the area (including Gurkha Kitchen). Unfortunately, the service was painfully slow and inattentive, and the setting could definitely have been cleaner.

Chicken 65 very small quantity

They are open till very late 2 AM! Place was very welcoming to begin with. Food was okay! The best were chicken momos- soft, juicy succulent no complaints. Noodles were bit off, sauce didn't taste right, it had over bitternes, rancid oil taste. Chicken 65- chicken itself was dry, hard to chew. Very small portion. Naan was decent. They added 18% late night service charge for a party of two adults and a child. Which is fine I suppose, but has to be disclosed either on the menu or posted somewhere in the restaurant.

A small tucked away place, in downtown hayward where it can be easily missed. Definitely worth checking out, First time having momos, so was wondering what it tasted like. Service was very meh, not much people in the resturant and still nobody greeted, or checked on us throughout the time spent here while we tried to order, get the check, etc. 3.5/5 - Garlic Naan - Usually our go-to any time we get some curry. However all the garlic was burnt on this one. Tasted nothing but burnt flavor of the garlic overpowering everything 3.8/5 - Butter Naan - Generous portions, and was very crispy and fluffy, perfect to scoop up naan with. Butter is not spread well though as it was only in the middle. Would of made the dish better. 3/5 - Jhol Momo - Excited to try the dish. Presentation looks good, however the soup flavor was not great on top of it the momo was just very spicy overpowering any flavor in the momo itself. Soup is nutty but not much else comes through. Felt bland other than spice. 4/5 - Sadheko Momo - These fried momos were better than the soup ones. Crispy and has great spices to pair with it. Can't go wrong with these and worth to order. 4.2/5 - Butter Chicken - Classic curry. Very buttery, creamy and tangy with spices hitting you all around. Definitely cant go wrong. Generous amount of chicken to go with it as well. 3.5/5 - Tandoori chicken - Felt a bit dry, overall. Flavor is good and decently tender, but slightly overcooked where it sticks to the bone and not as easily to eat. Had better ones elsewhere, just could be better executed on cooking time.

First things first, our waiter Santos was very accommodating when we told him my sister was Vegan. He was able to explain which dishes were vegan and which could be made vegan. The food was great, but a bit on the salty side for my family. This was our first time trying Nepalese cuisine and I would come again but ask them less salty. My favorite was chili paneer!

It was a decent tuesday lunch . Me and 2 of my other friend went for a lunch . We order butter chicken, lamb curry garlic naan and lamb choila . All the curry and naan was best but the choila was better and way good then they used to sell before . Will come back for sure . Highly recommended.

Chicken Thali

I was craving some butter chicken so I decided to check this place out. Ordered the chicken momo, butter chicken, garlic/cheese naan, and chicken thali. The chicken momo is similar to a Chinese steamed dumpling and was a perfect plate for sharing as an appetizer. The butter chicken makes you scrape the bowl for every last drop. The naan was warm and flavorful I could not stop eating. The chicken thali is a nice meal set but I would prefer to order other dishes separately with a side of rice. This place is small inside and limited on tables so I would definitely try to beat the dinner rush and come early or order take out. There is plenty of parking with a free parking garage near by. The service was a little slow because there was only one server that was serving dishes and taking orders/payments-- he was hardworking though and very kind! There is another location opening in Livermore soon. I will be back for the butter chicken and warm naan!

Vegetable Nepali Thali - Medium Spicy
Solo M.

Great food and great Service. I'll start with our server, Santos. If you have any kind of dietary restrictions. Santos is well versed and can give you specific recommendations as well as to let you know how it would be prepared. Our group was blown away by this. Personally, I had the Vegetable Nepali Thali, medium spicy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd order it again and maybe try some meat the next time. Will I be back? You damn right, I AM! Parking is sometimes limited right in front of the restaurant, but there is plenty of parking real close by. You got Parking lot 4 on B Street and the Cinemark parking garage nearby on Foothill blvd.

The food, the service, and the environment was great! We loved everything we ate. Our waitress gave us the best suggestions and options as we had so many questions about the menu because we've never had Nepalese food before. She was so helpful and gave the best service! Santos was also a delight to have. He served our food and explained which was vegan and what wasn't. One of our friends was vegan, so he was trying to be considerate of that and thought it was so sweet. We ate so much and still had so much food left over! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to try something new!

Decent Nepalese food! The owner is super sweet. We went around 11am so we beat the lunch rush. The interior is cozy and homey. There aren't too many tables but I am not sure how packed they usually get. The food is warm and cozy, but nothing too inspiring or memorable. If you're in the area, this is a great contender, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Goat lunch combo
Sheila E.

Came in close to 12pm on a Wednesday and there was one party of 2 in the restaurant. Ordered the goat lunch combo and my friend got the lamb combo. The food took a long time to come out, past 12:30. After the meal, I felt content and not full, although I didn't eat much of my rice and I barely ate the pickled veggies (it's just not for me). Nothing was amazing and the goat was a little tough. Not sure if I'd come back on my own but if friends wanted to come, I wouldn't be opposed to it unless I was in a rush. Service was very attentive. There was only one server and it was really empty. Bathroom was bright and clean.

They had lots of delicious food jnside, something for everyone although I've never seen breakfast inside a Thai place before I always go straight for the lunch :) All the staff were very welcoming and let us take our time to order as we do get picky on what we order. Our time that we went, it was busy and they did have plenty of people who were waiting. It does tend to get busy on weekends. I do like chicken a lot after all these years and thats what I had. Overall this was a pleasurable experience, and we're going to visit soon as we're due for a visit.

While the food arrived fairly quickly, nothing really stood out, especially considering the prices, which I felt were a bit high for the overall quality. On a positive note, the restaurant has a beautiful, spacious interior with two separate dining sections, which creates a nice atmosphere. However, the service was disappointing. Despite the automatic 20% gratuity, our server never checked back to see how we were doing, refilled our water, or offered any condiments such as hot sauce. What made the experience more confusing was that additional guests arrived after us, so we weren't sure why we were rushed to order in the first place. Overall, the ambiance was nice, but the food and service didn't quite justify the price. Unfortunately, I would rather explore other dining options than to return.

In all my nearly 10 dayum years that I have been blessed to be a Proud Yelp- Elite have I yet to see such a thing. I propose a change to the equation of what currently exists as a ranking option. Agtwr all; Fresh & New is what we all live for here, amiright? Welcome to the Stage, My Favorite Indian Restaurant .... *crowd goes wild", now, insert that proverbial, "OOOHHHHHH, Ahhhhhh...." Let that marinate... Indian Cuisine holds a very special sweet spot that conjoura much more than a temporary mouth-gasm, yet should aim to deliver nothing short of a solid slap to my tastebuds follow d by the upmost, sinfully sensual mouth kiss & an umi aromatic extravaganza exploding with the most sensual flavor profile delivery that nearly could cause the most refined palette to pass right out over such sinfully aromatic, mouth-wateringly scrumptious, delectably exquisite mouthful of heaven you've ever placed upon your tastebuds. Welcome, Favorite Indian Restaurant. "These Are My Confessions:,"... I'll keep it hard, fast, straight up and to the point: You have one job, follow my instructions and you will leave gasping in rapture upon the floor, mouth agape, struggling for oxygen, fully awake & enlightened beyond any culinary expedience you dared to let your mouth embark upon -in the most excruciatingly ecstatiic moment, picture this... A base of aromatic Shrimp Biryani, smothered in Paneer Tikka Masala, combined with a bite of a flavor-filled veggie samosa with just a splash of their notoriously "make-you-wanna-offer-up-your-first-born-chili's" maybe, ooooh, just maybe - mint/jalapeño & Tamarind chutney - yes - ALL TOGETHER IN YOUR MOITH HOLE AT ONCE - to the Indian Food Gods in feverish hopes for just...one...more....bite. Do it. Let's face it folks, you're seriously going to want this all up in your mouth hole. *clears throat* - in all seriousness, this establishment more than delivers, whether it's a dine-in experience in their decadent & cleverly adorned establishment worthy of any Majarani, or if it's an "I ain't goin out kine night and I feel like treating myself just a lil bit", Favorite Indian Restaurant is a super solid go-to. I've experienced them over the years and across different dietary restrictions to include vegan, vegetarian & my most recent due to health reasons: Pescatarian. We got the chilli chicken, and while it wasn't especially good, it did exactly what I needed it to do in that moment. Craving: handled. The surprise was the chicken curry. Rustic, hearty, comforting, and the kind of dish that feels less like restaurant food and more like something made to actually satisfy you. That one definitely hit the spot. So no, this isn't going on my "best Indian food" list. But when the craving hits and there's a good deal involved? I get it. Sometimes dinner doesn't need to be transcendent. It just needs to show up and do its job. And the food here did just that

From the moment we arrived, everything was excellent. The food was fantastic, the ambience was beautiful, the drinks were spot on, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We started with the Trio Ceviche, which was delicious and beautifully presented. My wife had the Paella, and I ordered the Short Ribs--both were absolutely fantastic. Everything was plated beautifully and served quickly without feeling rushed. We also had the pleasure of meeting Miriam, the restaurant manager, who went above and beyond to take care of us. Her warm hospitality really made our evening special and turned a great dinner into a wonderful overall experience. We're already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the delicious dishes on the menu. Casa del Toro is definitely one of our new go-to places to dine! Highly recommended!

We had borani kaddu - butternut squash with yogurt and garlic sauce. This was a good alternative to the common borani banjan. the texture was perfect, not overly cooked, went well with the warm bread. perfect for vegetarians. Our vegetarian companion had borani banjan - smoked, grilled eggplants in the tomato yogurt sauce similar to the appetizer we had. But served with rice and salad and green chick pea side provided enough serving. it was delicious - they have an option to make it vegan as well. Now quabili palaw was the star! massive size of lamb shank, well seasoned, well cooked, perfectly seasoned. The rice was fantastic with enough sweet carrots and raisins. Will be back just for this! Shami kabob came with two kababs (picture only one as our little one already sneaked one!). Kababs were juicy, perfectly spiced, with enough rice and salad. Between quabili palaw and shami kabob was enough for two adults and hungry child... Khoshmazeh!
