My 4 Stars is for the food! All dishes we tried had amazing flavor. Staff were friendly. My request to the owner: Update your menu. My only disappointment with this place was the menu and tabletop sign had the drink menu which showed you can order a glass of wine (I love a glass of wine with my meal). However, I was told they no longer offer glasses and I need to purchase the bottle instead. I did not feel like I wanted to finish a whole bottle to myself for dinner on a Monday evening so I stuck with water. If re-printing menus is too expensive, I suggest blanking out that option on your current menus. I just checked the menu for this establishment on Yelp, and it clearly states "All wines served by GLASS or bottle". I will return for the food, because it was a very good meal, but probably for pickup so I can enjoy it with my wine at home. read more

I was craving some butter chicken so I decided to check this place out. Ordered the chicken momo, butter chicken, garlic/cheese naan, and chicken thali. The chicken momo is similar to a Chinese steamed dumpling and was a perfect plate for sharing as an appetizer. The butter chicken makes you scrape the bowl for every last drop. The naan was warm and flavorful I could not stop eating. The chicken thali is a nice meal set but I would prefer to order other dishes separately with a side of rice. This place is small inside and limited on tables so I would definitely try to beat the dinner rush and come early or order take out. There is plenty of parking with a free parking garage near by. The service was a little slow because there was only one server that was serving dishes and taking orders/payments-- he was hardworking though and very kind! As soon as our group of five walked into Aama's Kitchen, our noses signaled that we were at the right place. A nice aroma of spices and herbs permeated the air. The owner gave us a warm welcome and handed us the menus. After I asked him for suggestions, he recommended we order momos and Khasi Ko Pakku- goat meat marinated in aromatic spices cooked on low flame and garnished with seasonal fresh herbs. We took his suggestions and requested the chili momos and the Jhol momos, plus the goat meat dish, paneer tiki masala and the Gobi Manchurian, with some butter naan and garlic cilantro naan. When the food came, everything looked and smelled so good. The momos were great, especially the chili momos, even though at medium spicy it made my nose dripped. The goat meat was a bit tough to chew, but it was incredibly flavorful with the spices. The naans were perfect with the paneer tiki masala. We washed our foods down with some really thick mango lassis and masala chai that has a hint of cardamom. For dessert we had the pistachio and mango kulfi (hand made ice cream), and the incredibly warm and satisfying rice pudding. The owner checked in on us regularly and asked for feedback. We have been meaning to try this place for awhile now and are glad we did but surprised at the wait times for the food. We ordered garlic cheese naan, chili momos, and the aloo Gobi. Everything that we ate was made fresh and seasoned well. The chili momos had great flavor and even with the vegetables and sauce were very crispy. The aloo Gobi had tender potatoes, cauliflower, and other veggies in rich sauce. And the garlic cheese naan was fresh, though the cheese fell to one side of the naan. My partner enjoyed his Nepali beer and I enjoyed mango drink (though my partner said the mango tasted canned). We were very surprised at the wait times though. It took over 20 minutes to get our momos. Then probably another 30 minutes to get our aloo ghobi and naan. A staff member apologized saying that the wrong dish was made initially. But we waited over an hour for the food, and that was not ideal. But overall, you can tell the food is made fresh and that they put a lot of care into the food. There is a public parking lot diagonally across the street. The space is smaller than you'd think, with around 7-8 tables. When ever I run across a "himaylan" restaurant I check to see if they have C-momo on the menu and if not I call to see if they can make it. This place had C-momo as well a Jhol momo. So I proceeded with delivery order. My food came quickly and I was excited to did into my c-momo. There was a huge portion of 8 and it was Nepalese spice. I was brought back to Nepal in a restaurant near in Boudhanath, I first had c momo. You might want to clarify if you order to make less spicy. I also ordered curry chicken thali and they had a door dash special on the Naan breads. FYI, in Nepal naan is not really served. That an Indian and tourist thing. There was so much food and I was pleasantly surprised to find side of achar included. The yogurt mixture I was a little iffy on. One thing about Indian/himaylan food, it can be a little over salted. I can tell cuz you get full quicker at the salt bloat sets in about c 15 mins later. I'll definitely order again or try to come to dine in. Stopped in for dinner on our way to SF, parking is on the street so keep your eyes out as it is busy here! It's a very small, quaint restaurant that is so unassuming. These chicken momos really impressed me - the seasoning was spot on and they tasted great even without the sauce. I've tried steamed momos all over the country and these easily make my top 5. The wrapper was incredibly thin, similar to what you'd get at Din Tai Fung. Their fried momos hit the mark too, we got both the regular fried and the Sadheko which both were nice and crispy. The paratha was a bit dry and more wheat-heavy than the chewy, flaky ones I usually find elsewhere. The khasi ko pakku packed serious umami flavor with fantastic seasoning. I came here with a friend on a Thursday evening for dinner, and I am so happy we found this restaurant. Aama's Kitchen had the best service by far and budget-friendly meals! The place itself is small with a few large tables and three to four 2-person tables. However, the walls were lively and there is a cute flower wall near the door. We were seated immediately and got our order shortly after. There was only one server working all the tables, but he was so efficient and kind. Honestly, the best smile and charisma I have ever seen from a server! He kindly showed us his favorite dishes, and we ordered the Chicken Tandoori, Aloo Gobi, Chicken Biryani, and Naan. The chicken tandoori was so flavorful and tender! It was enough to feed one hungry person (about six pieces) or a protein to share between two people. The aloo gobi was hearty and a little spicy, I really like how soft the vegetables were. The chicken biryani was also really fluffy and plentiful! Very generous portion! The sauces they gave us to complement the meals were so delicious as well. Our entire meal only cost $50, and with such great service, this place is a 10/10! We met for lunch and were the first people in the restaurant. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow. When we all arrived we immediately put in our order. However, it took 30 minutes for us all the receive our food. For lunch this is not acceptable as people are on a limited time frame. Also they brought out the first persons dish, then 10 minutes later the second person's dish and then another 10 minutes for the 3rd person. We ordered medium spicy but the food was under seasoned. I was surprised to see that Aama's kitchen had a rating of 4.9 stars on Google and high ratings on Yelp. I am so pleased and satisfied to have tried this restaurant, I am officially a fan! When I ordered for pick-up, I requested extra sauces and while I expected to be charged, the owner was incredibly sweet and told me there was no need to pay for them. They generously provided me with extra sauces, which was a refreshing change! At a similar restaurant in Oakland, they charge a lot for even a small amount of chutney. This made me feel a great sense of relief and happiness. Everything I ordered brought me joy and was perfectly seasoned without being too heavy. I highly recommend all the items on my receipt and especially the fried chicken momo. Everything is so delicious without making you feel guilty.
