Butter Chicken Chicken Tikka Masala
Kathleen W.

This is a classic place to eat at for their buffets and lunch specials. I hadn't eaten here in years until my partner wanted to go after a friend suggested it to us We came on a Friday for lunch and it was quite peaceful. They have a very comfortable and upscale interior with good food options. We got the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala and everything was so creamy and went well with the garlic naan and curries. The kheer helped bring the heat down from the curries. Everything was made so well and we need to come back here stat!

I've been coming to Favorite Indian Restaurant for around 15 years now, and it's still one of my go-to spots for Indian food. The food is always good, and it's one of those places I always come back to. I'm really happy their lunch buffet is coming back on May 2, and I'm excited to try the new Live Kababs too. I've missed having a good Indian lunch buffet with fresh food and all the classics in one place. If you're looking for good Indian food, a solid lunch buffet, or a reliable Indian restaurant, this place is definitely worth trying.

Just highlighting the amazing customer service. I did an uber eats order, but one get one! Orde the chicken rolls masala, naan, and vegetable samosa. They gave me 2 extra samosas! They also gave complimentary rice to go with my chicken tikka. And of course gotta have a mango lassi, mine is currently in the freezer getting extra cold!!

Came closer to closing time so no other customers were around Opted for buffet styled dinner Selection was not bad for price but average quality overall Loved the endless chai refills Loved the mango soft serve Thank you!

Food was amazing. My family and I love it here. Service was very attentive. Also they refill the food very quickly. Clean up dishes, attend to our drinks very quickly. Very good price for dinner buffet on the weekend for $22.95/person. Parking is plentiful just next to the restaurant. A safe area too.

An absolutely favorite for my family and I to eat authentic and delicious Indian food. We have been going to Favorite Indian buffet since they opened in San Ramon. Now they moved to Hayward we still come once in a while. My favorite is their Butter Chicken. The best!!

great place! super friendly staff. the kabab sever was extra nice and courteous. Keeping our table clean. For the food. The lamb kabab and chop was so flavorful. The red and yellow grill chicken kabab was super juicy and good. The naan was thin and crispy. Everything was fresh and yummy. The mango lemonade was the best of their lemonade. and mango ice cream very good and creamy. only complain is their mill tea is a bit weak but I'm used to much stronger stuff.

Timing is everything. Sometimes things just fall into place because they are meant to be. On 11/09/2024, at around 4:45pm, my family and I were traveling on NB 880 when we started talking about having Indian food for dinner and how much we missed the old Favorite Indian Restaurant in San Ramon. Well, someone must have been listening because when I did an on-board computer search, the first option that came up was - you guess it - Favorite Indian Restaurant in Hayward! Done deal, off we went. We arrived right at 5pm and were the first customers of the dinner rush. The owner told us to sit anywhere we wanted, and we chose a booth near the buffet station. The interior was dark, and cleanliness was satisfactory. The space must have been an American restaurant in the past because many aspects reminded me of one. The buffet ($22.95) featured 20 meat and vegetarian items plus salad, soft drinks, and desserts. I noticed some higher cost ingredients such as okra, cauliflower, etc. were missing. The overall quality was decent. The standout items were the fish pakora and tandoori chicken. Both were made in small batches to ensure freshness. I was disappointed with the chicken tikka masala. The chicken breast pieces were tough and dry. Service was alright. The owner came by several times to refill water and clear the table of plates. All in all, I thought this place was decent but not as good as their old San Ramon location (better selection and quality). 3.5 stars rounding up to 4. Will return when I crave Indian buffet. BONUS MATERIAL: - Private parking lot on site. - Major credit cards accepted.

The group was 22 people. There is no reservation so one of us had to come at 4PM to be on the list for 6PM. The line is so long and people are patiently waiting for good food. The price on this special day is $35/person. Yes, it's a $900 meal. There are quite a few dishes for everyone to enjoy, the nice thing is every dish is actually tasty, not bland at all. I started with some sashimi, salmon, tuna and yellow tail. The rolls are soggy and not crunchy due to being out so long or the seaweed wraps not too crunchy. The chicken wings are my favorite, very hot and tasty. The oysters in sauce are great too. I'm sure there are something good for everyone regardless how picky they are. The hot and sour soup I like. The fruit and dessert bar has plenty of things to choose from. The ice cream station is crowded with kids and adults too. There's a cook to order station like in many Mongolian buffet, you choose your noodles, meats, seafood, veggies and they will stir fry for you which is excellent. There are clams, shrimps, snow crab legs which are gone very quickly but refilled fast too. Anyhow, for a few people the $35 is good if you all like these food, but for 20-22 people, $900 can order many excellent dishes in a good Chinese restaurant. We may not be back here for another fee years although the food is great the service is very attentive and fast.

Service 7/10, we were barely there an hour and they served the check. Ambiance was ok, casual dining, not a lot of people. Lots of tables available, place is clean. Won't dine here anymore. I like world gourmet because of the oysters and king crab legs on a regular weekday lunch for $19.99. Lesson learned, at least I tried them. Also, their chicken wings were kinda tasted old, not fresh. They have chicken feet but it had no taste and It was hard. They have a nice sushi section.

For the AYCE sushi restaurant, it was good but not exactly mind-blowing. The fish and seafood variety didn't taste like the freshest quality, and after a while, a lot of the rolls started tasting the same. For around $45 AYCE, I personally think there are better options out there. Some of the skewers came out burnt. Takoyaki was 1/5, you can skip on taht. But that being said, the service was really good. The lady serving us was super friendly and attentive, and overall the staff was kind and welcoming. However, there was only one other table besides ours at the time, so I'm not sure how service would be during peak hours. Now the cafe side, I loved it. The vibe made me feel like I wasn't even in Hayward. The sandos were really good, and the matcha looked amazing. I'd definitely come back for the cafe experience alone. My biggest concern though is the elevator situation. It wasn't working during our visit, and I heard it hasn't been working for quite a while. It honestly made me wonder how elderly or mobility-impaired guests are supposed to dine there. That definitely seems like something that needs attention.

When it came time to take food to go, we had to ask for the container, bags, and the right sized containers and the right sized bags. The older woman with the jet black hair was the one who rude and dismissive. When I asked her for a larger bag, she said that was the largest one. I pointed out that we gave them a very generous tip and that I see larger brown bags, but she still did not offer me one. The food is good though, but the service sucks! We spent, with the tip, about $240.

I'm gonna check with my NorCal moots about this but sucks if that's true. I was going to comment on how this is one of few bastions of affordable, slightly more unique food in the bay area, but I guess that's not the case. I'm spoiled by having a Dollar Hits in SoCal literally down the street from me so I can't say this place compares, but it's at least an option for NorCal, you know? This definitely used to be another restaurant, but then retrofitted to be a grill. Super large grill in the middle for everyone to communally cook at indoors. This is a good combination between the outdoors grill it yourself and the indoors seating of both the SoCal Dollar Hits, so I thought that was nice. They have all the classics here, isaw (sometimes Dollar Hits doesn't have this unless you request -it's chicken intestines), large intestines, chicken skin, kwek kwek (battered quail eggs), and Tender Juicy bright red filipino hot dogs (a must). You can also order a side of rice and the sauces were self serve (made it a bit sticky). It gets a bit smoky in there even with the fans, but overall had an enjoyable time the time when I did visit.
