    AYCE KBBQ

Amazing ambiance, and I'm grateful that there's a KBBQ + hot pot place in Foster City! However, the quality really fell short for me and my group. Let me start with the KBBQ, the brisket was shockingly lean... like scary.... No fat content AT ALL. I do not recommend. Definitely go for the beef toro and pork belly instead. Bulgogi was decent as well. My favorite was the marinated boneless short ribs! Marbled and tender. And for the hot pot... the veggies were really fresh! Loved the mushroom and tofu options... but OH MY GOD. The broth... tom yum was not good. Bland and too sour. It did have a good spicy kick to it though. The "broth refills" also looked like straight up water... scary once again. FYI - The biggest tables they have are for 8 people!

When one of my relatives suggested coming to Warehouse Buffet for lunch, I got pretty excited for a whole variety of reasons. First and foremost, it's always fun to get together with the fam. What's more, I'm never going to say "no" to AYCE Korean BBQ and hot pot (which is always a good combination) and the chance to check out a place I had heard good things about. However, another underrated reason I was so happy to come here is that I have admittedly odd affinity for this complex. You never know for certain whether a restaurant's food will be good or not, but for the ones here, at least you can count on getting a pretty nice view of Foster City's lagoon! Much like Seapot in Daly City, Warehouse Buffet offers up an AYCE hot pot with the option to add on Korean BBQ for a small upcharge. However, despite their name, it's not really a buffet. Yes, they do have an area where you can load up a plate with their variety of banchan items (kimchi, fishcake, seaweed salad, etc.), sides (salad, japchae, edamame, etc.), fruits, and desserts, as well as a sauce bar for you to create your own dipping concoction. Otherwise, all of their hot pot and Korean BBQ offerings need to be marked on a menu and handed to a server for them to bring out. That being said, they've got a wide variety to choose from! Even though we came here for lunch, because it was on a weekend, the price ended up being the same as what they charge for dinner ($34.99 + $5 to also do Korean BBQ). Something to be aware of if you're looking for their lunch price ($24.99 on weekdays only), but we were fine with it since we knew ahead of time. Plus, we didn't mind getting the chance to try more of what they have to offer - ten types of hot pot broths and over sixty different meats, seafood, noodles, fishballs, and tofu along with another three dozen options on the Korean BBQ menu. Not that their lunch menu is tiny considering how it has the same ten broths, nearly fifty options for hot pot, and another two dozen more for Korean BBQ. They also have sushi rolls on a separate menu, too! Given the sheer volume of everything they have, it should come as no surprise that we were only able to try a fraction of it all. Of what I did eat, nothing was bad, but most were just okay. On the Korean BBQ side, I thought the CHADOL (Brisket), BEEF BULGOGI, and WOO BEASAL (Thinly Sliced Beef Belly) were great while the AUSTRALIAN LAMB, RIBEYE, and ANGUS BEEF were our favorites from the hot pot menu. That being said, the quality of a handful of things wasn't the greatest. Most notably, the color of the BONELESS BEEF SHORT RIBS was oddly dark, the NY STEAK was a bit pale, and the second plate of PORK BELLY we got was super fatty. Beyond the food, as well as the awesome tableside view we had of the water, the thing I liked most about Warehouse Buffet was the service. In particular, our (main) server was terrific - not only was he very friendly, but what we appreciated most was how often he came by to take our orders and how he encouraged us to stay as long as we'd like. Which was a refreshing change from how tightly other places enforce their time limits (to be fair, it was the end of their lunch hours and there was no shortage of open tables, but still). All in all, THREE AND A HALF STARS would be perfect if I could, but Warehouse Buffet is closer to three than four. Despite how often our server came by, it still felt like we had stretches were we ran out of things to either grill or drop into our pots. If they had a belt or a station to grab hot pot items on our own, this would probably four stars instead. Either way, at least the view was awesome!

This restaurant, located beside the most beautiful inland lake in the Bay Area, offers a clean and atmospheric environment both inside and out. Inside the restaurant, there are private dining rooms, all-you-can-eat barbecue, and all-you-can-eat hot pot. There are also large televisions and a bar area, which are especially popular with Americans who enjoy watching sports and drinking. In terms of food, the meat options included in the all-you-can-eat menu are not particularly outstanding. The meats available for an additional charge may offer better texture and taste. However, overall, the barbecue and hot pot selections, including both vegetables and meats, are above average compared to the general market. The price is also very reasonable. Lunch all-you-can-eat is under $25 per person, and dinner is under $30 per person. The staff are friendly and helpful. Combined with the quality of the food and the surrounding atmosphere, dining here while enjoying the scenic inland views of Foster City is something I highly recommend to food lovers in the Bay Area.

This is for the KBBQ dining option: are you going to get super high quality meats here for $35? Definitely not, but there honestly aren't many other KBBQ restaurants in the Bay Area that's going to offer such competitive pricing like this in the post-COVID era, especially for AYCE. My friends and I arrived around 2:30pm this past Saturday and there was very little people. I've been here before at peak dinner hours and it can get quite packed and noisy so time your visit wisely. I've always appreciated the decor here, definitely a lot of thought was put into it, as well as the lake view. If there is availability, I always request to sit by the window. Restrooms are also clean and easy to find, located next to the entrance/exit. As I mentioned earlier, the meats (as well as the other appetizer options) weren't amazing quality but you get what you pay for! They're tasty and marinated enough, and I always enjoy my meal here. My favorite is the spicy samgyeopsal. Sauce and appetizer station and desserts were well stocked. Plenty of options for every diner. Frequent grill changes which was appreciated. This time around, the chicken bulgogi took a bit longer to come out - we had to ask a couple times for it and when it finally arrived, the taste was inconsistent between orders. We also received random meats that we didn't order and we weren't sure what they were. Seemed like the staff was a bit unsure too. We don't have any food allergies and cooked them anyway so not a huge deal. At this time, it wasn't that busy still so better coordination here would be nice. Overall, a positive dining experience with speedy and friendly service. Will continue to come here for my AYCE KBBQ fix!

Aaahhh this was such a wonderful experience for me and my family! We did the AYCE hotpot, and everything was delicious. This was our first time trying individual pots, which was fun. We ordered the pork broth, tomyum soup, the herbal soup, and a water-based soup. I was bummed that they didn't offer a completely vegetarian soup (or maybe our server was unaware?). We got to make our own sauces in a buffet-style set up. I usually put satay sauce in mine, but they didn't have that. My sauce was still yummy though! We ordered a ton of pork belly, lamb, beef belly, fish, tripe, ribeye, and clams, as well as veggies and noodles. The only thing that I wasn't a huge fan of was the ribeye. Our server was wonderful! He sang beautifully, brought a little dessert for the birthday girl, and chatted it up with us in different Chinese dialects! He didn't seem to be very knowledgeable about vegetarian accommodations, but he made an effort. I would highly recommend this restaurant for birthdays--it's FREE! Just make sure you bring ID.

$23.99 for AYCE! SAY LESS! I came here on a weekday with no wait. When we sat down, they asked what kind of broth, veggies and meats we wanted. They have a condiment bar where you can create your own sauce! They also have fruits and desserts. As you're eating, you get to look out to a lake. Sometimes you'll see someone rowing on the lake.

    Claire C.

The meat here did not seem fresh and it was a very average KBBQ experience. They also have both hotpot and BBQ option, which is a bit suspicious in my opinion. They're definitely using the same meat for both. The beef tasted really thick and difficult to chew at times. The color of the raw meat also seemed wrong. It came to our table as a brown color. The server explained that it was because it was marinated but I've had marinated meat at other places and it was definitely not this color. I will say the price for All You Can Eat is only $32, which is a lot better than some places but there's good reason for that. If you're really hungry for KBBQ, come here for a mediocre time but don't expect high quality service or food.

Nice service and it's a good deal if you are hungry. Beautiful waterfront views. The food is decent for All You Can Eat. Good variety of options for DIY sauces, side dishes, and you can select 10 items for lunch. I wish the veggie and tofu combo listed what it comes with on the menu so we wouldn't have wasted some of our selections on duplicate items. The herbal broth, miso broth, and pork bone broth were all tasty. We were offered soup refilled many times, which was a sign of the great service. Seniors are 20% off and kids are half off.

I am not sure how to rate the food. The selection of seafood that you can pick was nice. Clams, mussels, shrimp and crawfish were the seafood picks you can do. Potatoes, sausage, corn were the free add on that you can do. I do not eat crawfish, which was also a seafood pick, so I can't review that. Everything was good. The shrimp was hit and miss, depending on the piece. They were peel and eat, but some shrimps were mushy meaning those shrimps were old. It was tolerable. Nothing that I haven't had before. I'll let it go for the price point they offer. The clam and mussels were good. As expected. The sausage, corn and potatoes were good as well. The place was pretty legit. The fried shrimp and fried chicken wings were amazing! Freshly fried, they were juicy and steaming on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Although the place was dead (it was a Wednesday after all), we did see a lot of people come in and pick up food to-go. Not sure if they were customers or drivers picking up for Doordash/Uber Eats. All in all, I would definitely come back to this place.

We visited during lunchtime on the weekend. When we first arrived, it was fortunately not too busy, which made it easy to get seated and relax. However, as we continued our meal, we noticed more people gradually coming in, and the restaurant started to fill up. By the time we were finishing, there was a steady flow of customers dining in and picking up orders.

The pinakbet was not skimping on the bagoong and was delicious. The kare kare was tender and the bangus sisig had a perfectly crispy bottom. The high quality of the protein here really makes each dish taste worth the price. The cocktails were also really good, I enjoy the purple jeepney which was an ube based cocktail. They do have smaller sizes for entrees that you can order so you can sample more of the menu. Will be back to try to crispy pata! The service was also very warm and friendly, they first asked if we've had Filipino food before (which we have many times) to see if they could help make any suggestions from the menu.

Bustling on a Friday night - great food and great vibes! We had a reservation for the evening and…read moreluckily so, as the restaurant was packed. Located in downtown San Mateo, it can definitely be difficult to find parking, even in the garages. We had to circle around a couple of times until finding a street parking spot. Keep that time in consideration and come early if you have a reservation. The inside has relatively dim lighting and is quite spacy, and there's plenty of seating both upstairs and downstairs. Service was pretty quick despite how busy it was, and the servers were great! We ordered: - hot calamansi tea - thai chili & garlic wings - inihaw na pusit - pork sisig - sinigang - garlic rice The food came out pretty quickly and mostly all at once. Standouts of the night were the inihaw na pusit (super tender and chewy, and grilled with a great char) and pork sisig (super umami and tender). With that being said, was very satisfied with all the dishes, and there wasn't one that left a negative impression. I will say that this restaurant does lean on the pricier end, but there's a great ambiance for good food and conversations with friends. Would come back!

Really like the concept of a build-your-own hotpot bowl. My friend and I were debating between a…read moretypical hot pot place or malatang, and we opted for something new for us. So glad we did! We arrived at around 7pm on a Saturday and were fortunate that there was no wait. We were immediately seated. After we got our table, we went over to the ingredients station and built our bowls. There was a wide variety and good selection of ingredients, from different types of protein to veggies and noodles. Given how much there was to choose from, it would be very easy to go overboard and get too much. I made sure to only get as much as I could eat. After we grabbed our ingredients, we went over to the register, where they weighed our bowls and we picked our soup base. I chose the mushroom soup, and this was delicious. It was flavorful, and I could really taste the mushroom, which I loved. Overall, we had a wonderful meal, and we will definitely be back in the future.

If you haven't tried Zhangliang Malatang yet, this is your sign. This San Mateo location is easily…read morethe best one in the chain and a must-try for anyone in the area. Pro Tips: -Get there right when they open. The ingredients are at their freshest and you'll have the pick of the litter before the rush comes through. -Be mindful of your bowl weight--it adds up fast. Tofu and mushrooms are sneaky heavy. Load up strategically or you'll be in for a surprise at checkout. -Choose your spice level wisely. The mala is legit and does NOT play around. If you're not a regular spice person, start mild and work your way up on future visits. Food (5/5): The selection at this location sets it apart from other Zhangliangs. They carry beef shank, pork belly, and a wider variety of proteins that you won't always find at the other spots. The veggies and mushrooms are fresh, and the broth options are rich and flavorful--the mala has that deep, numbing kick that hits just right. The self-serve model is fun and lets you build exactly what you're craving. It's the kind of place where every visit can be a different meal, which keeps it exciting. Ambiance (5/5): Spacious, vibrant, and well laid out. Unlike some of the other locations that can feel a bit cramped, this one gives you room to breathe. The ingredient stations are organized and easy to navigate without bumping into other people, which makes a huge difference during peak hours. The downtown San Mateo setting is a nice bonus too--plenty of parking options and easy to pair with a walk around the area after. Overall: 5/5 -- not only for the experience on its own, but especially when compared to other Zhangliang locations. The ingredient quality, the selection, and the space all make this the one to visit. Whether you're a malatang veteran or trying it for the first time, you're going to leave happy. Just respect the spice levels.
