    Enoki Mushroom in Tin Foil

The concept of this place is fun. Inside is spacious and cute, but the lighting is a little weird in my opinion (mixed sources and warmth). Prices are fair. Service was very quick. The food is generally good; the skewers were just flavored exactly the same (Sichuan peppercorns (numbing spicy), cumin, etc.) so it got old really quick. All the meat was well cooked/grilled till just tender and came out hot. I just didn't want anymore peppercorn flavor by the time I ate my 4th skewer. I wish they had sauces on the side to choose from for the skewers! Overall this place has good food, but be prepared for the very traditional Sichuan flavors in each dish/skewer.

I came for lunch on a Saturday on a double date and did not have to wait in line. We felt like royalty in China. Oriental instrumental music was playing. The furniture looked traditional. Each seating felt semi private since there were curtains to the back and side of us. Service was great. Food was plentiful and ordered through a scan code. We enjoyed skewers and noodles. Highlights were the cold Korean soup, potato noodle ( so chewy), mushroom wrapped in foil, fish tofu, beef, and chicken wings. The staff brings you the food so no self cooking is necessary. The restaurant got really busy by the time we left. Overall, a place a would return to.

We like our skewers, so decided to give Dynasty BBQ also try. Arrived at around 9pm on a Friday and there was still a short wait for a table. We tried calling to make reservations but they only take them for parties of 5+. Ordered via a QR code. Note - need to indicate if there is a nut allergy. Forgot to take pics as kiddos grabbed the skewers so quickly. Standouts for me were the vegetables, grilled beef and lamb, and chicken skin. Everything we ordered was flavored well and brought fairly quickly.

Came here with my family to try something different in San Mateo, and Dynasty BBQ was a welcome change! It's located on the older downtown stretch of W 25th Avenue, where you'll find some street parking out front and around the block. Definitely recommend arriving early -- they open at 4:30 PM and the crowd picks up fast during dinner. Bonus points for being open late (until 11:30 PM), making it a great option for a late-night catch-up with friends. Once we were seated, we jumped straight into ordering skewers: - Enoki Skewers -- three bundles per skewer, perfectly seasoned with sesame seeds and chili flakes; stringy with great umami depth - Chives Skewers -- grilled, lightly seasoned, thin and on the healthier side - Lamb Skewers -- juicy, tender, and packed with that signature cumin-forward seasoning - Beef Tongue Skewers -- thinly sliced, tender with rich flavor - Corn -- roasted and sweet, a great palate cleanser between bites - Home-Style Cold Mixed Vegetables -- mix of shredded cucumber, carrots, and tofu skin in a chilled savory dressing - Cucumber Salad -- refreshing cucumber chunks, topped with crushed peanuts for a bit of crunch Ordering is easy with their QR code system. Service was quick and friendly, and food came out steadily. The space strikes a nice balance between lively and private. Decor features dark bamboo furniture, antique lanterns, and traditional Chinese wooden design elements. Check out Dynasty BBQ for your skewer fix! They also have other locations in Sunnyvale and Newark if you're not local to San Mateo.

Variety of skewers (beef, enoki, corn, achoy, lamb)

Dynasty has recently earned a spot in our regular rotation of restaurants, because it always hits the spot. I'll admit, I didn't expect to love it as much as I do (my palate is pretty simple at times) but the spices on the skewers won me over. It has quite a strong cumin flavor, but It's amazing with a heaping bowl of jasmine rice! We usually order the beef, enoki, tongue, and a ton of the achoy. My husband also likes the chicken hearts and tendon. We also tried the pickled cucumbers and the sesame noodles which are delicious complements to the skewers, which all start tasting a little similar. On weekends, I'd recommend arriving early to beat the rush or coming later in the evening since they're open pretty late. They have a waitlist that you can put your name down. The service is pretty nononsense and you place your order on the tablet and multiple staff members help deliver your food and check in. It's very efficient.

When you miss skewers from China, this is the spot to go. The meat is tender, especially the lamb and beef. The service is fast and the ambiance is nice with traditional Chinese booth decorations. Their eggplant is a sleeper, get that ! Warning lots of garlic if you don't like it. But I love it

I came here on a Tuesday evening (also my birthday) with a friend and Ellie at around 7pm. Upon entering Dynasty BBQ, we noticed the interior furniture's were made to look like the traditional houses you see in those old Chinese movies (bamboo) - so elegant. I think one thing they would benefit from would be to add a few more tables to make the place feel more complete. There was extra seating visible so the floorspace looked quite messy. After standing at the entrance for a short moment, the host guided us to our seat with barely any wait time. To start, my friend and I ordered a few dishes ranging from chicken pineapple to pork skewers. I personally enjoyed the sausage skewer as there was dry seasoning on it that really elevated the taste significantly. The sausage was perfectly cooked. I would also highly recommend their salad since it pairs very well with the bbq'd skewers; can be treated as a pallet cleanser actually. As much as there are good dishes, there was one dish in particular that was trash and that was "Beef in sauce", the beef was too dry and the sauce was also very bland. Overall, this spot does skewers well, especially the sausage skewers, but I would recommend to the owners to reevaluate the sauce for "beef in sauce".

Friends and I were craving some skewers this place definitely hit the spot. Everything was solid and skewers were reasonably priced for the size. Our favorite by far was the beef; it was seasoned so well! We also tried the lamb skewers, but a bit dry for us compared to the beef. They also have a good variety of meat options. I would highly recommend if you're in the mood for skewers.

I was craving Chinese food after an escape room with friends on a Saturday night and found this place on a street full of food only 5 minutes away from hillsdale mall. The wait to get a table was probably 20-30 minutes, but it was worth the wait. The seating was comfortable, not overly cramped. My friends and I shared one tray between the four of us and ordered around 6 skewers per person and felt decently full after. The food was surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting too much as I just wanted food. But after seeing the layer of seasoning and sauces on the vegetables and meats, I knew the taste wouldn't disappoint. My favorite was the lamb skewers but everything was amazing.

We were craving skewers but didn't want to drive all the way down to SJ for Skewer Bar so we decided to give Dynasty a try. It was about a 30-40 minute wait and once we were seated, ordering our selections and the food coming out was pretty quick! The beef and lamb skewers were really good! The pork intestine could have been a little crispier. The spicy & sour potato noodles and the cucumber salad were the two best things we ordered! The service was excellent! It was quite busy but all the servers were super quick and attentive with great communication amongst each other.

Dynasty BBQ is always one of my favorite restaurants for Chinese skewers! All the skewers use special Chinese ingredients, and you can really tell how authentic they are. Pairing the skewers with beer or sake is a fantastic experience.

delicious skewers in the bay area ! we've been traveling to san jose to eat skewers that reminded us of home back in China and we've finally found a spot closer to home! depending on the time of the day, there may be quite a wait but it's definitely worth and the wait goes by quickly. we always order the lamb. beef and scallop garlic noodle. everything is flavorful , not too spicy, and just gives the homie feeling we get when we're back in China. the cucumber salad may be the best cucumber salad we've ever had - the right amount of sourness and crunch!

    5/10 was ok
    Chloe C.

Food - everything we ordered was really good. meat had a wide selection and tastily flavored. some were a tad bit spicy but nothing too extreme. Korean cold noodles were so good except i wish they gave us scissors because they were hard to chew. Service - waited over 1.5 hrs only because it's busy but they were quick to get us seated and food came super fast. Ambiance - cute spot would highly recommend going!

Upon entering, I noticed that it is a sister restaurant to the Lazhou Noodles but before we could change our minds, the hostess sat us (lol). I went with the main beef noodle soup, and we also tried the dry noodles with spicy beef. I was expecting the food to be very similar to their sister restaurant - BUT the food here was so much better I was SO surprised. The broth tasted better, the noodles were higher quality, and the beef was also much more tender and had less gristle. it made me wonder if it was a fluke or if this location was just that much better as this restaurant was also much more crowded versus the other locations. I can't wait to come back and bring friends, and though San Mateo is parking is not as friendly, the food experience definitely makes up for it!

From the first visit, it was clear this isn't an "Americanized Chinese restaurant," but a place that truly understands Chinese cooking, technique, and flavor. What impressed me most were the mushroom dishes. Being able to enjoy mushrooms with such depth and complexity in the U.S. is already rare. The aroma isn't built from heavy seasoning, but from the ingredients themselves, fully brought out. The flavors are clean, natural, and incredibly fragrant--the kind that lingers and keeps you wanting more. It immediately brought back memories of authentic Yunnan flavors. Even more impressive were some of the seemingly ordinary stir-fried dishes. At first glance, they look simple, almost unassuming. One bite in, though, and you instantly understand what real wok hei is. That smoky, high-heat flavor can only come from a skilled chef using proper equipment and precise timing. It's not greasy or overpowering--just deeply aromatic and perfectly balanced. Simple, yet elevated. Overall, this is a restaurant that doesn't rely on gimmicks, fancy plating, or social-media hype. Everything is driven by pure technique and respect for ingredients. Each dish has a clear identity and leaves a lasting impression--not something you just photograph and forget, but something you actually remember. In the Bay Area, where Chinese restaurants are everywhere but truly great ones are rare, Ping's Bistro is a place I'd gladly return to again and again. If you're looking for something different, want to experience real wok hei, or simply appreciate honest, well-executed Chinese cooking, this spot is absolutely worth a dedicated visit.

There's also a great variety, so it's easy to customize your bowl exactly how you like it. I went with the Szechuan classic soup base, and it was honestly one of the most authentic versions I've had outside of China. The broth had a deep, rich flavor with that perfect balance of spice and the signature numbing Sichuan peppercorn kick. It wasn't just spicy for the sake of it--it had real depth and complexity. Another highlight is the value. If you spend over $20, you get free dessert, and they offer coconut milk sago and bingfen. Both are super refreshing and help cool things down after the heat from the malatang, which is a really nice touch. Overall, it's well worth the price for the quality you're getting.
