Horrible sevice. I saw this sign on and left. Later when I called them, they insisted that they were open!

Came here with our Groupon and found a sign on, which says "closed under maintainance". We didn't get to use the Groupon and the coupon got expired. Then we called to make sure they were back open. We came back on a day they were supposed to be open, and found it closed again. We took a photo of the sign. And when we came here, they refused to honor the Groupon voucher as they promised on the phone earlier. And also, they said they were open last time when we were here, we showed them the photo with the evidence that they were closed during regular lunch time. They argued that they were open, such big fat liers in front of our photo with time and location marked! And they refused to honor the coupon value. Just horrible service. We wasted our time and effort, and they are completely not worth it!

Stopped in late Saturday evening with a groupon. The place was empty except for one other table that was wrapping it up. Since there was no one in the joint we had the servers full attention during our meal. He was very attentive and answered all our questions. We had a very nice dining experience and a delicious meal. We ordered the Chefs Special tandoori a combo of chicken, seafood and lamb. The dish was very tasty and the side of green sauce (tasted like cilantro) drizzled on top enhanced the spicy flavors. We also had lentils marinated with ginger and garlic they were very good and very filling. One order of garlic naan was just the right size for two and for scooping up the tasty tidbits from my plate Finished up with the mango pudding nothing special pudding with canned fruit cocktail. Based on the yelp reviews it appears the majority of their business is during lunch Monday thru Friday as they are located near the court house and the po po station. I will definitely have to check it out the buffet but for a nice quiet meal check this place out for dinner.

Very yummy! Goat and lamb curry! The chickens! The rice! And then the donuts and mango pudding! Wonderful lunch choice and it was my grandma and uncles first time having Indian food! We got here at 1145am and the food was ready for the buffet! Quiet enough to enough lunch and Raj was a dear, sharing with my grandma and me how the food is spiced, what some of them are and how the food is done in India! Wonderful experience ;)

Buffet: fish curry, vegetable curry, goat curry, chicken curry, tandoori chicken

Came here for the buffet with a Groupon $9 for 2 for lunch buffet. I really liked the fish curry and the chicken tikka masala, but everything else was so-so. Even those two were so-so, probably because it's a buffet so the food was out for a while (albeit in heaters). You have to ask for the naan, but it's kind of slow to come out. The naan is good though, because it's fresh. It could be chewier and fluffier though, and they should give more per basket. Food's okay; I wouldn't come here again for the buffet though.

Really complete buffet with vegetarian and meat dishes. Awesome desserts too!

I was on Jury duty and had an hour and a half to kill during lunch time (90 minutes for lunch? Really?!) so I walked around and not feeling like Mexican or burgers, this place looked good and what a treat it was! Indian restaurants are famous for their buffets but this one was really, really tasty. A good mix of chicken and vegetarian dishes, garbanzo beans, lentils, both jasmine and vegetable basmati rice and delicious fried doughnut on syrup for dessert. Everything clearly identified and and at an amazing value! I had a taste of everything and had seconds of the lamb, the saag paneer (cheese and spinach) and the Indian seasoned chicken. Completed it all with a sweet lassi and I took my time, enjoyed my lunch and savored every bite. I'll be back with the hubby soon!

    Lunch buffet

Just finished eating their lunch buffet and boy am I stuffed and happy. We got there around 11:45 AM and were the first ones there. The place was clean and decor nice. They have a great variety of dishes and all were really tasty! There wasn't one dish I didn't like. The chicken tikka masala is always my go to dish when eating Indian food and theirs didn't disappoint. My boyfriend and I tried every single dish except the salad and everything was flavorful. Some of the dishes include mixed vegetable pakora, palak paneer, dal, chilli chicken, tandoori chicken, gobi aloo, chicken curry, plain rice, vegetable biryani, goat curry, and lamb curry. For dessert they had kheer (basmati rice pudding), mango pudding and guiab jamun (donut balls soaked in flavored sugar syrup). Things that can be improved - friendlier customer service and the food could be warmer. I would definitely recommend this place. I'd like to eat dinner here next time.

Not a lot of selection. It wasn't busy when we went which makes me nervous about the turnover of the food. It tasted okay.! We used a groupon. I don't think I would pay full price to eat here.

The chicken tikka masala was flavorful and comforting with a nicely balanced tomato-based sauce. Creamy without being overly heavy. The chicken was tender and well portioned. The combo also comes with rice, dal, and vegetable of the day, which made it a filling and well-rounded lunch. The garlic naan was a solid upgrade, soft, warm, and nicely garlicky. Pricing for the lunch special is very reasonable for the amount of food you get, especially if you're craving Indian food during the workday. Service was quick and efficient, making it a good spot for a casual lunch. Overall, a satisfying lunch spot with good value and consistent flavors. I'd definitely come back to try other combos on the menu.

We got the pani puri, the samosas, and we both got their lunch combo. The pani puri was like eating stale tortillas, like they bought the economy pack and will keep using them regardless of freshness. The samosas were good, not really rememberable or better than other Indian food spots. The bf got their butter chicken and the sauce was good. But I don't go to Indian places to get the butter chicken. I actually don't remeber what I got for my lunch combo, but it wasn't anthing to write home about. Pricing was okay given it was the lunch time special pricing. Honestly the atmosphere felt like a family shop where no one wants to work there but it pays the bills. There's a counter filled with unlabeled treats. They looked good but I had no idea what they were. Service was the minimum which doesn't really bother me but some people enjoy it. Felt really cramped filled with tables and people who think they're having an exotic lunch instead of McDonald's. This place is not for me and after I told by bf this he agreed. Kinda hard to find, it's like a blink and you miss it. Parking is sparse, I parked down the street.

There are plenty of Indian restaurants in Fremont where we live, but since our favorite go-to place closed, we've yet to find another that perfectly pleases us both. He's a vegetarian. I'm not. He likes heavy spice and some heat. My tastes run towards mildly spiced chicken curries. If you are considering Shahi Darbar based on Yelp reviews and photos, you will not be disappointed. There is ample parking in front as the restaurant is in a strip mall without a lot of evening traffic. Outside is brightly lit and inside, the dining area is large, so there is plenty of room between tables. Even though there were many people there and music overhead we could still hear each other and converse. There are tables and booths. It's clean and bright. Our server was attentive and friendly. The menu is extensive! It was hard to choose, but I ordered chicken tikka masala because I don't see it offered at too many other restaurants, not the way butter chicken is.. it was wonderful! The server asked our preferred spice levels and the kitchen delivered. Husband ordered palak paneer and loved that the spinach wasn't over creamed or over blended (he doesn't like when the spinach is no longer recognizable as spinach and the palak looks like green baby food - this is not the case here). The palak paneer was perfect. We had veg pakora as an appetizer. It was SO good. Since we were celebrating a birthday and had cake waiting at home, we took home a lot of leftovers, which made the next night's dinner at home pretty epic too. For such a nice place, the prices are reasonable. There is a full bar. I had my back to it and didn't see it until we were leaving. I'm not sure if it is open all the time or not. When we return, likely for our anniversary next month, I might order a drink. It was about a 25 minute drive for us, so we won't be able to make this our new go-to, but you can be sure we will return as soon and as often as the opportunity comes along again.

This exceptional establishment has become my go-to destination for experiencing the genuine flavors and aromas that transport me back to cherished memories of home-cooked meals from years past. I discovered Flavor of India several years ago, and since that initial visit, I have never once been disappointed--not with the food, not with the service, and not with the overall experience. What makes this restaurant truly special is the remarkable consistency they maintain. Every time I walk through their doors, I know I'm in for an authentic culinary journey that honors traditional North Indian cooking methods and recipes. The heart and soul of Flavor of India are undoubtedly Pawan and Gurudev, the dedicated staff members who don't just serve customers--they welcome guests like family. Their warm hospitality creates an atmosphere that goes far beyond a typical dining experience. They remember regular customers, take time to explain dishes, make thoughtful recommendations, and genuinely care about ensuring everyone feels comfortable and well-cared-for. This personal touch transforms a simple meal into something meaningful and memorable. The restaurant's physical space itself contributes significantly to the overall ambiance. Abundant natural light floods the dining area, creating a bright, welcoming environment that feels both refreshing and inviting. Unlike dimly lit restaurants where you strain to see your food, Flavor of India's well-lit space allows you to fully appreciate the vibrant colors of the dishes--the rich reds of tandoori preparations, the golden hues of curries, and the fresh greens of chutneys and garnishes. Adding another layer to the sensory experience, the restaurant often plays bhajans--devotional songs that provide a spiritual and cultural soundtrack to your meal. These traditional hymns are a true blessing, creating an atmosphere that feels authentically connected to Indian culture and heritage. The combination of soulful music with the aromatic spices wafting from the kitchen creates a multisensory experience that engages not just your taste buds but your entire being. Whether you're seeking the comfort of familiar childhood flavors or exploring North Indian cuisine for the first time, Flavor of India delivers on every front. The authenticity of the food, the warmth of the staff, the inviting atmosphere, and the thoughtful cultural touches all combine to create a dining experience that nourishes both body and soul. This is more than just a restaurant--it's a place where tradition, hospitality, and exceptional food come together perfectly.
