Didn't know they had a Pakwan here in Hayward! We used to go to the location in Fremont. We ordered food to-go. We had the beef curry, spinach and potato, goat curry, lentil beans, and plain naan. Only complaint is the goat meat wasn't that tender. Beef was very tender, but it was in a gravy sauce. Lentils and spinach with potato were very good. There was a lot of oil in the dishes so we poured some out.

Service is simple and nothing fancy, you order and get your food from the counter, you gets your own plates, utensils and drinks. But we go here for the food... very flavorful. I did notice something different though when I came back today... the servings seems more than before. I have not been here in a few months... but this is a good change.

Very nice, good atmosphere clean, customer service is good and fast too. biryani doesn't have too much meat, tandoori smell gas, the restaurant is pricey comparing with other Indian, Pakistani restaurant.

I think the food, service, and the interior in this place is amazing! The food is cooked to perfection, barely any burnt parts on my meat, the interior in here is spotless, not even a single piece of food on the floor. And it only took 6 minutes for our food to be ready! The bathroom however..... every time I go in there, there is two flies flying around. Some pieces of tiny paper towels that has been used that are on the floor. This is restaurant is very good but the only problem is the bathroom.

Gosh been coming to Pakwan for ages, and never thought of writing an updated review in 15 years! This is one of those few places where the food, portions and quality has stayed amazing thought out the years. It's been our once a week go to for so long we've really just taken it for granted I guess. It's a no frills place, you go in, order at the counter and everything else is self serve. But see the food, it's incredible. Whether it's the non-vegetarian curries, the rice dishes, naan, or the grilled meats, it's all chef's kiss. Just go and try for yourself.

What if I told you that my brother and I drive more than 45mins just to have the juicy, flavourful, fresh, tender and tastiest tandoori chicken ever in the Bay Area? Yeah we do. And we love it every single time. The ambiance is not so great, food court style tables and chairs. But you can see the chefs in action making fresh hot naans in the authentic naan making clay pots and the tandooris being marinated and grilled right in front of you. The curries and other dishes are good too. And don't forget to dip your meats in the amazingly fresh and savory yogurt mint dipping sauce. Chefs kiss. We don't bother even going home to eat.. we devour this right in the car parked outside Pakwan lol.

The only thing here worth consuming is the chai, sometimes. Butter chicken is watery and nothing has enough flavoring.

He seemed snappy when I asked to bring the roti first as an appetizer...(we were hungry) and he just said "it's coming". And sure enough we didn't get it as an appetizer but came with the rest of the food. Here is where the negative experience begins. We got a lamb curry when we ordered a lamb biryani. Instead of apologizing for the mix up, the server took no responsibility and said it was our fault for saying the wrong thing. I said there was absolutely NO way we said the wrong thing. He still tried to argue and say he repeated the order twice (he didn't). I said look man, it's not my fault you messed up, we would never order that. Then, we got the mixed tandoori grill and there was a HUGE hair sticking straight up. I didn't get to snap a picture. This server really asked if we wanted another one... He did eventually say his bad for the mix up and did bring us another naan basket for free so I give him credit for trying to make it right after the fact. But then the check came and he bypassed the tip after I tapped. He said, "the tip is for the restaurant, I only take cash." Like wow, not even the opportunity for me to tip the restaurant? And to expect everyone to only tip cash for him? Food was for sure amazing but this server really needs to get trained on service. To not give the customer an opportunity to tip the restaurant is unfair for the workers. Edit: I had to take another star off because when I got home to eat our leftovers I found ANOTHER hair literally embedded in our chicken! Absolutely disgusting...

Favorite Indian Restaurant, Hayward…read more August 2026 My nephew was craving for Tandoori and Butter chicken so we came here for much. We were served with appetizer called Papadum (Papad) which is are thin, crispy discs made from lentil, chickpea, or rice flour. They are served as an appetizer with mint chutney or tamarind sauce. They were so good! Next we ordered the Tandoori chicken and their lunch specials: Butter chicken, Chicken Vinaloo and Paneer Tikka Masala. All came with naan and side dishes. We also ordered the onion naan too. All the chicken entrees were very tender and fall off the bones. The Chicken Vinaloo was my favorite because of the tender, juicy chicken and the Vinaloo sauce was a tad spicy which I loved! I need to order an entree by itself next time! There was a rice pudding as a side dish they had and it was really good! It used to be plain and bland which I didn't like, now they added sliced almonds, golden raisins and other stuff that made it sweet. Perfect way to end the meal! Services were excellent! The waiter had all our orders correct and he was attentive. Definitely coming back for the weekend when they serve the buffet! Highly recommend this place.

The fresh grilled meats served table side is a nice idea but poorly executed. There weren't very many and it kept running out by the time it reached our table. The lamb was good but the grilled chicken kebabs were dry. My favorite buffet offerings were all the veggies plus the tandoori chicken and naan. The zucchini, cauliflower and chickpea dishes were delicious. The tandoori chicken was fresh and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the meat curries were bland for me with little spice and heat. Plus the chicken in all the curries were very dry. I'm happy I tried it but not sure I'd come back.

This time, I tried Chicken Do Pyaza for the first time. Surprisingly, I couldn't find any photos of it on Yelp, but I decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did. The combination of flavorful gravy, onions, and other ingredients created a wonderful texture and made every bite enjoyable. Of course, we also ordered their dal, which is always delicious, comforting, and full of flavor. And no meal at Kabila is complete without their gulab jamun. But I don't go to Indian places to get the butter chicken. I actually don't remeber what I got for my lunch combo, but it wasn't anthing to write home about. Pricing was okay given it was the lunch time special pricing. Honestly the atmosphere felt like a family shop where no one wants to work there but it pays the bills. There's a counter filled with unlabeled treats. They looked good but I had no idea what they were. Service was the minimum which doesn't really bother me but some people enjoy it.
