Chicken tikka masala- 2.5/5 for me. The tomato flavors really overpowered this dish. Usually this item is my go to at any Indian spot Saag panner-4/5. Probably one of the better ones I have. Good spinach to sauce ratio Garlic naan 4/5. Can taste the garlic on the naan. Could be fluffier.

pani puri was great, it's diy so you can make the perfect bite of shatteringly crisp, refreshing tangy sweet spicy potato and a little channa. i would have preferred more channa but otherwise great. ended up getting food to go for dinner: veg biryani was mild as requested, the eggplant and okra were medium, and the pickles were nice and tart and spicy - mouth watering as i write about it now. def would go back and try more dishes.

I ordered the lamb and the rice. It was very flavorful. My particularly enjoyed the sauce was cooked in super soft and tender. The price was a little high $27. Will definitely be back.

It's hard not to go crazy ordering everything when I go here. This is my absolute favorite Indian restaurant period! I have been to countless Indian restaurants in the Bay Area to give you an idea. Their chai is the best that I have had and perfectly balanced. The chicken tikka masala, veggie Korma, veggie Pakora are the best that I have had. The staff are nice and the facility as well as the bathroom are always clean. Honestly every dish that I have had here is delicious. Can't go wrong!

I've never had a bad meal from Indian Grill. When I first came here a few years ago, I knew it was going to be good from the aroma that permeated the air as we walked to the restaurant. The food is always fresh and hot. The service is always swift and friendly. The ambiance is cool enough for family night or for date night. Sometimes the music from the tv's are a little too loud but they are accommodating in turning it down if need be.

This exceptional establishment has become my go-to destination for experiencing the genuine flavors and aromas that transport me back to cherished memories of home-cooked meals from years past. I discovered Flavor of India several years ago, and since that initial visit, I have never once been disappointed--not with the food, not with the service, and not with the overall experience. What makes this restaurant truly special is the remarkable consistency they maintain. Every time I walk through their doors, I know I'm in for an authentic culinary journey that honors traditional North Indian cooking methods and recipes. The heart and soul of Flavor of India are undoubtedly Pawan and Gurudev, the dedicated staff members who don't just serve customers--they welcome guests like family. Their warm hospitality creates an atmosphere that goes far beyond a typical dining experience. They remember regular customers, take time to explain dishes, make thoughtful recommendations, and genuinely care about ensuring everyone feels comfortable and well-cared-for. This personal touch transforms a simple meal into something meaningful and memorable. The restaurant's physical space itself contributes significantly to the overall ambiance. Abundant natural light floods the dining area, creating a bright, welcoming environment that feels both refreshing and inviting. Unlike dimly lit restaurants where you strain to see your food, Flavor of India's well-lit space allows you to fully appreciate the vibrant colors of the dishes--the rich reds of tandoori preparations, the golden hues of curries, and the fresh greens of chutneys and garnishes. Adding another layer to the sensory experience, the restaurant often plays bhajans--devotional songs that provide a spiritual and cultural soundtrack to your meal. These traditional hymns are a true blessing, creating an atmosphere that feels authentically connected to Indian culture and heritage. The combination of soulful music with the aromatic spices wafting from the kitchen creates a multisensory experience that engages not just your taste buds but your entire being. Whether you're seeking the comfort of familiar childhood flavors or exploring North Indian cuisine for the first time, Flavor of India delivers on every front. The authenticity of the food, the warmth of the staff, the inviting atmosphere, and the thoughtful cultural touches all combine to create a dining experience that nourishes both body and soul. This is more than just a restaurant--it's a place where tradition, hospitality, and exceptional food come together perfectly.

The food was quite bland, lacking the expected flavor and spice from Indian cuisine. I even asked for some extra spice, but there wasn't any. One of the naan orders was also a bit raw and chewy. New menu, new prices, new staff. Upon walking in they asked us if we would like to sit outside after seeing my service dog. I said no thank you (as it was chilly out) and they didn't push the issue at all, just sat us. They served us water immediately. This is a small thing but the water glasses were easy to hold and lightweight and I liked that. Anyways, they checked on us several times while we looked at the new menu, encouraging us to ask questions if we wanted. Rice is complimentary with each curry-type dish. Our food came quickly. When they noticed we had eaten half our rice, they repeatedly offered us rice and we said no thanks. Then they brought it anyways. We didn't mind, they were very eager to give good service and to be present. They refilled our glasses once they got low. At the end of the meal they came over and discussed the food with us, let us know about the new ownership and how they've changed the menu, and that they are using all fresh ingredients. They seem very eager to provide good food and service. The dishes were both flavorful. The vegetables in them were fresh tasting. Neither was at all spicy-- afterwards they let us know that they are doing all the dishes mild (Castro valley lol) so if you like your Indian food spicy you will need to tell them explicitly when you order.

I should also say, this is only the 2nd time I've had pani puri. The first time I had it was at a cart outside of an Indian market in SJ and it was really good. My opinion was affirmed when I saw a long long of mostly Indian people developing behind us patiently waiting for their turn. Anu's Chaat Corner has only 1 flavor compared to the 5 or 6 I had tried at my first experience, but this one was much more complex and had pieces of chick peas and I don't know what else (it might've been potato) but it was full of flavor. The Dahi Bhalla Chaat and Aloo Tikki Chole were equally impressive. I loved the potato patty in the Aloo Tikki Chole and the crunchy bits in the Bhalla Chaat. After paying a second time, I checked my bank statement just to be sure and saw I was charged twice, back to back. He kept insisting I call his boss and that he wouldn't be able to assist me then and there. Only after an awkward back-and-forth did he finally issue a refund. My go-to is the triple kebab (which you can customize), and I'm partial to their shami (ground beef), chicken, and chapli (beef patty). The meat is succulent and incredibly well-seasoned, with the shami being a standout...definitely the kind of dish you don't judge by its cover! This dish is served on a bed of rice and small salad. The rice is cooked well. I have also tried several of their appetizers, and my favorites are the samosas and borani banjan (eggplant), though the bolani are also great, and the serving size is enough to feed a small army. The samosas are a nice departure from traditional samosas I am accustomed to, especially at India restaurants. The ones here are large, flatter (almost like an empanada), and not the slightest bit greasy. You can tell they make these fresh. The banjan have a nice acidity and a tasty cream/tomato sauce they are tossed within. The bolani can be prepared with either leeks or potatoes (or ask for a combo!) and are served with a cream dipping sauce. I feel that everything here is a good value, with the triple kebab coming in at $25, and the appetizers all coming in at $10-$15. You will not leave hungry.
