For our entrees, we ordered the Argentinian Skirt Steak accompanied with Frites, Sautéed Greens, Fries and Chimichurri Sauce -- and the Mezcal Glazed King Salmon with Cashew Relish, Purple Potato Puree (so interesting!), Shaved Brussels Sprouts, and Chipotle Butter Sauce. Been recommended this place lots of times, so glad I finally decided to try it! Fiance and I did a little date night here and it did not disappoint. They were busy, but the staff accommodated us last minute which was so nice. Drinks were fantastic, the bartenders love what they do and it shows. The food was sooo good. The short ribs were my favorite though, seasoned well and the cilantro mashed potatoes it came with were EVERYTHING. I'd come back for a side of those alone. We came here in a large group and was immediately welcomed and seated quickly. The first thing I noticed is that this is not a tradition Mexican restaurant like I had imagined. It is much more. Our waiter was great, good customer service and attentive, we were a large party and he handled us all seamlessly. I ordered a peach lemonade, the chicken dish and empanadas. My husband ordered the steak kale salad and my kids ordered chicken and fries. Everything was soooo bomb! That peach lemonade? I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant from start to finish. The food was absolutely on point, especially the fried chicken Benedict perfectly crispy fried chicken paired with rich hollandaise and soft, fluffy bread underneath. It's one of those dishes you don't expect to be that good, but it really stood out and was easily the highlight of the meal. The ceviche Trio was just as impressive. Each portion had fresh, bright flavors with the right balance of citrus and spice, and you could tell the seafood was high quality and very fresh. 2 Hour Eating Limit on Customers who spent close to a $1000!!! Bad Service! Messed Up Orders!! We ordered food for kids from the brunch menu, while the adults had appetizers, so we could burn some time before 3pm when we could order from the dinner menu. They forgot an order for 1 of the kids and when we asked them about it, they said they could no longer serve that item because it was now after 3pm and that item is not serviced on the dinner menu. We asked for a manager who came and repeated the same thing. It gets worse. We paid close a $1000 for all our meals and then decided to stay at the restaurant to watch the Mexico - England World Cup game since it was starting in a few minutes. We were then told we'd reached our 2 hour maximum time and had to leave the restaurant. We said we were willing to order more appetizers and drinks while we watched the game and the manager said she had to go find out if that was possible! Can you imagine? Needless to say we left, and needless to say Mexico lost the game. My first time going here so I was really excited since it's a Latin vibe! First off, parking was not the greatest. A little on the shady side. Dark and the parking is somewhat tight. I was not liking the location but still excited. Ok, inside is much better. Loving the vibe. The hostess was very friendly. She seated us right away. Our waitress was superb. Overall food was above average but nothing I'm overly excited about. I had the deconstructed paella. The flavor was good, I like how the sauce had a hint of citrus. The fish was a bit dry but the mussels, scallops and clams were good. My husband the short ribs. Flavor was good but too salty. Short ribs were soft but could be more tender. He usually likes carrots but these ones weren't seasoned well. I like how their menu has suggested wine pairings for each entree. Bread pudding was really good! Service was okay over all. Server was nice but didn't check in as often, even though I noticed he rounded at the other tables more often. I'm used to servers checking in after the first few bites of food but he came when we were more than halfway through our meal. We were extremely disappointed with how this restaurant handled our Christmas Eve reservation. We made reservations on December 2nd and just four days before Christmas Eve, our dinner reservation was canceled due to "not enough customers." Christmas Eve is a special occasion that people plan well in advance, and canceling so close to the date left us scrambling to find an alternative when most places were already fully booked. If the restaurant was unsure about operating that evening, this should have been communicated much earlier. Canceling confirmed reservations at the last minute for business convenience shows a lack of consideration for customers' time and plans. The matador mint mojito was refreshing and perfect after a long day of work. The empanadas were crispy and flavorful. I brought my brother here on his birthday for a special lunch. We had been to the restaurant that was here prior to Casa del Toro and wanted to try out the new restaurant in downtown Hayward. The decor is really wonderful with a glittering full bar, dark wood tables and chairs, and brooding art work centered around the bull theme (bull=toro, for those who don't soak Spanish). I ordered an Argentine steak and egg plate. My brother ordered the chicken sandwich and we split the house salad. I was dismayed when the salad came out after our main dishes, but it is what it is. Everything else was amazing. The bar was just so beautiful that I had to try a cocktail. My brother got an old fashioned (they use the good cherries btw) and I ordered the Paloma nuestra. Both drinks were great, well made, eye catching and delicious. I loved that my Paloma wasn't too sweet (I hate sweet drinks). The service was top tier as well. There were two men helping us. One was mostly a host and the other was our server and sometimes the bar tender. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 11.45am on a Thursday but two or three more tables trickled in for lunch. Yesterday I met my cousin for brunch here based upon her yelp search. This place is located in downtown Hayward. First off I loved the accessibility of parking. I love that. My daughter said the seafood pasta was delicious, and my son liked the ravioli and asparagus even though he usually does not like asparagus. My husband was very disappointed to learn that his favorite item in the menu, the ribeye steak was no longer available (even though it is still listed on the menu).
