What a great surprise El Poblanito was! Hungry after a great Shakespeare production a mile down the road, we chose this place, purely out of hunger and convenience. It was so good, that I regret to inform you, I completely forgot to stop and snap a photo or two. We shared the chicken mole enchiladas and a coctel de camarones. The mole was heavenly, two large enchiladas with generous portions of rice and refried beans. The shrimp arrived as two corn tortillas topped with a few plump, shrimp, cabbage, and pickled onions. The margaritas although from a mix, were decent, and the entire meal for two was $55 before a $20 tip to reward the truly outstanding server who kept our water filled, and checked on us many times--always with a gracious smile. The only issue, though I am not going to dock a star for it, was that it was a 'heat advisory' day, and the small ceiling fan near the entrance did nothing too cool off the large, unfussy interior. That was a small discomfort compared to the food and the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. I'll definitely be stopping back here when I am in Hayward to try more of their menu, offerings. It's true a true gem of a place and the menu is extensive. Bonus: right next-door is the nicest, best-stocked, cleanest Grocery Outlet I've ever visited, and being used to bumping and swerving my way around the narrow aisles in the Alameda store, The extra wide aisles were an unexpected luxury. read more

Such a cute local spot! I really wanted a burrito and was recommended this spot on my review of another place. The super burritos are delicious, but I have notes: I love that it is toasted! The rice-to -meat ratio is overwhelming and the guacamole isn't apparent enough. Still very delicious though. I had just come from home from Europe and this was my first stop before making it home because I missed burritos! I love the service here! The staff is excellent and so attentive! The kids menu is awesome and my son absolutely loves the bean and cheese burrito! I got fajitas and they were a bit oily and the guacamole was scant, I assume things can only get better with more regular customers. For that reason, I will absolutely be back! read more

The beans and rice are both very flavorful. The chips and salsa are on point, the staff is super friendly, the space is large and comfortable, hiding in the corner of a strip mall. We ordered takeout from Restaurante El Poblanito, and I have to say, this is easily some of the best Mexican food we've had in the area. They were incredibly fast, our order was ready for pickup about 20 minutes after we placed it. The man who took our order over the phone was so sweet and accommodating with our order, which I really appreciated. The restaurant is located in the same shopping center as Grocery Outlet, in the old Salvadoran restaurant location. I ordered the shrimp fajitas with a double portion of shrimp and flour tortillas. The fajitas came with rice and beans and were easily enough food for two days! The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the flavor was spot on. The rice and beans were also seasoned really well. They gave me six flour tortillas, so I was happily making my own little mini burritos with all the leftovers. My husband got the carne asada burrito with no rice, and WOW, this thing was PACKED with meat. They definitely do not skimp on the protein here. It was huge and easily could have been enough for leftovers the next day, but my husband was hungry! We also got the nachos, which were solid. The chips were crispy and stayed that way, no soggy chips, exactly how I like them. Just like the burrito, they loaded the nachos up with carne asada. The portion was generous enough to share. Overall, really impressed with the portions, flavor, freshness, and especially the friendly service. Everything felt like it was made with care, and you definitely get your money's worth here. Passing through Hayward and found this place based on other Yelp reviews. Very festive and clean space with warm and friendly service. And the food did not disappoint - great homemade salsa and the seafood for the shrimp and fish tacos was cooked to perfection (not overcooked like most). Enjoyed the el pastor and birria, too. Didn't have to wait too long. °Both Grilled chicken and asada had really good flavor. °The salsa rojo had good heat. I recently checked out this restaurant. It's located in a strip mall alongside a grocery outlet, laundromat, and Chinese takeout spot. I appreciate the shared landing lot. There were plenty of spaces available. Inside, the restaurant is spacious and open. I thought it was a little strange there was a small shot setup in the middle of the dining area selling jewelry and other accessories. Service was off to a slow start as it took a while for someone to greet us. Once we were able to get the staffs attention though, everyone was friendly and helpful. I was excited to try the nachos. They looked great but I felt they could've used more flavor and toppings like fresh onions and cilantro. The street tacos were probably the most disappointing. They came loaded with onions and even included grilled onions on the side and the amount of meat in each taco felt kinda skimpy. On a positive note, the enchiladas were a good portion and were tasty. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to return but I can see this being a good neighborhood option for people who live nearby. read more

Heard about this place and their tacos being fuego, so had to try it. It opened two months ago, and apparently, there is a food truck. Upon arrival, I really enjoyed the wide open space. The owner (Omar) is super friendly and welcoming. He was so attentive and kept refilling our water, limes, & salsa. The food came out, and their chips are super crispy! Loved the tacos as their sauce was flavorful and the meat was tender. I'd definitely come back as I'm all about customer service and good food. It's not that it's bad. I went there because I was starving. I was doing some shopping next-door and I had seen good reviews on yelp so I tried it. I ordered a taco poblano to go. It was Carne Asada with pinto beans, melted cheese, onions, cilantro, and salsa. It was very good. It's the only thing I tried so that's why I gave it such a low rating, but I plan to go back and definitely try the brunch and try the bigger plates. They do have a bar there. It didn't look like a full bar but then again they just opened not too long ago. It was the middle of the day, so there was only one other customer there. The menu is much larger than 1 page. The owner came out and chatted with us, the service was excellent coming to check on us many times. The food was delicious. We got the veggie tacos which my vegetarian dad loved, I had the circular burrito and made it super style and it was humongous. I took almost half of it home, and my seven-year-old loved the chicken nuggets which were seasoned and different than her normal chicken nuggets she gets everywhere else. The salsas were especially good and the chips were fresh and warm. They have a monthly coloring contest which my daughter absolutely loved. It was my first visit, and the customer service stood out immediately. The owner personally greeted me, thanked me for stopping in, and took the time to walk me through several menu options, which I really appreciated. The food was excellent. I love Mexican food, but I'm not a fan of paying inflated prices for it. Here, the dishes were not only flavorful and satisfying, but also very reasonably priced, which made the experience even better. They're very generous with the meat in the burrito and I like how the tortilla is crispy and not greasy like some other places.
