First, the parking. I was at this part of the mall on Friday morning and Sunday evening, and there was plenty of parking both times. While it is part of Southland Mall, it's not attached to the actual mall. It's near Panera and several doors down from Panda. Most tables were filled by the time I arrived on Sunday evening but with only 1 person in line to order. I ordered 3 burritos and 2 tacos to go, and it came to about $55, tip optional. To the left of the ordering area, there is a chips/salsa bar with containers for the salsa/lime, and bags and "boats" for the chips. I prepared chips, pico de gallo, and lime while waiting for my number to be called. Thirty minute commute later, I got home, and we took everything out. Chips were large pieces, very crunchy, and still warm (not sure if warm originally or because they were on top of my food). Tacos were grilled chicken and carne asada. There were 2 tortillas as usual and plenty of meat on top. Squeezed some lime on it, and it was yummy, but I should have poured some salsa on it so that it didn't taste as dry. User error, but I didn't want to be greedy with the salsa and didn't bring enough for the chips and meals. My daughter took the chicken taco home but said the pieces of chicken she picked at had very good flavor. She also took her chicken burrito home, so I can't comment on that. My carne asada burrito had ample amount of steak along w/beans and rice. The pico de gallo kept it from being dry, but I didn't like that it had bell peppers in it because to me, even though it's very little amount, it still overwhelms the taste of everything. The burrito was so large that I could only finish half of it. My husband ate the super fish burrito. While he liked it, he said it didn't have enough fish and possibly had too much sour cream and guacamole (which he's never said before!). Also, he felt the cheese also overwhelmed the taste. I'm thinking if there were more fish, it would have equalized everything though. Great service, sensible prices and great portions. To note, I'm vegan so my review is strictly on the one item I ordered. The cashier was kind and accommodating in building a vegan friendly burrito for me. The burrito itself was okay, but the salsa and pickled veg made up for it. I'm rarely in Hayward and really just stopped by here in a pinch. Los Pericos delivered on what's needed and I'm sure based on how many people I saw come in and out while I was dining in, this is certainly a place for regulars in the area. My first time here... I like how they season their meat... light, so you can actually taste the flavors of the meat. You go to the front and order and seat yourself. Service was quick and the place is huge... they have 2 sections. And where else can you get free chips now??! They have a self service chips and salsa bar. I had a really disappointing experience here. I ordered a vegetarian burrito, and I'm very strict about my diet. Unfortunately, the staff gave me a chicken burrito instead. I didn't realize it at first and ended up eating some of it before noticing. This is a serious issue, especially for customers who are vegetarian for personal, religious, or health reasons. Food mix-ups like this shouldn't happen, and there needs to be better attention to order accuracy and labeling. Hello Yelpers and Foodies in the know. I visited Los Pericos on 05-17-25. I wanted a little something to eat and stopped by this afternoon. The restaurant is Very Clean and the employees have are very Pleasant and attentive to customers and the service is quick. You order at the counter and get a Table Sign with a number and the food that we ordered came really fast. We had two steak tacos each with two Fountain drink. The restaurant has a Salsa Bar with fresh warm Tortilla Chips. The Fountain Drinks allows for refills. This is my second time eating here and both times were the same experience as far as food and Employees being exceptional. I recommend Los Pericos when you are in the area. Thank You for Reading. Today Sunday 12/7/25 at 7:05pm I ordered 2 Carne asada Tortas which wsd cold and 1 Regular Burrito Carne asada and the meat, rice and beans were cold I had never experienced this ever, it was horrible. I thought I was going to enjoy my dinner but was totally ruined. I called them and made a complaint, Ive been going there for years but now you can tell the quality of food has gone down, ever since they changed ownership. They really need to change their kitchen staff/Cooks because they dont put any effort in making quality food. Its sad for the paying customers and this gives Los Pericos a Bad Reputation. I love coming to Los Pericos! We arrived during the lunch rush on a Thursday, and all the workers were on top of their game. The line to order flew, orders came out fast, the tables were cleaned off immediately when customers were done eating, and the salsa bar was always stocked and wiped off clean. We ordered 3 carne asada burritos and one drink, and it was at our table within 5 minutes. Lots of regulars coming in and chatting with one another so it's nice that they come here to eat so often, because it's worth it in my opinion. This place is a solid Mexican spot nearby. We placed the order via phone for a group of ~6 adults and a handful of kids, total came out to ~$110. Such a good price to feed a family and get full off of. Love how they have a salsa bar for you to pack your own. I tried the carne asada super burrito, which is a massive burrito for a solid price. I was only able to eat half for a meal, and saved the other half as leftovers. The tacos look delicious, but quite pricey at close to $5 per soft taco. They do load them with meats and everybody said the meats were flavorful. Folks were pleased with their food and got super full very quickly. PSA: if you're Black DO NOT GO IN TO THIS RESTAURANT TO ORDER FOOD !!! You know. I'm am actually very sad to be writing this negative review because I would say that this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area to get my favorite of all time, wet burritos. Although I live very close to Los Pericos, I DoorDash my order 9 times out of 10. I have placed over 15 orders on DoorDash and they only got my order incorrect one time !!! I will say every time I go into this restaurant to order my food they seem to mess up my order somehow. EVERY TIME !!! I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe it is the language barrier because NONE of the staff speaks English. Mind you, I've only been into the actual restaurant a total of three times. But every time I go in the store, they mess my order up and I don't want to think that they are racist but it's saddens me because I think I have to stop coming here because of the mistreatment I get when I come. I don't know why it's so hard for them to get my order correct when I go into the store. I order the same order every time which is a carne Asada wet burrito, refried beans and no rice. I went into the store last week on Wednesday and ordered my usual and they gave me pinto beans instead of refried beans. I again gave them the benefit of the doubt because I thought they misheard me. I went in tonight to order and it really saddens me because I was getting my special order for a friend's birthday dinner and it sucks because it didn't come how I usually get it. I literally didn't get any Carne Asada in my burrito. I got all refried beans in the burrito. It really sucks because I don't even like beans that much and I literally got no meat. My friend recommended this place and we found another gem in the rough. It's near Southland Mall and parking is abundant. We tried their Tostada ceviche and Camaron and also their soft tacos with steak. What I like about this place is their unlimited chips with several varieties of Salsa. Their Tostada is very generous with their shrimp. We were surprised by the amount of shrimp that was placed on top of the tostada. They were garnished with cilantro, onions, tomatoes, lime, and salt and pepper. They were so good and tasty. It's one of the best I've tasted. Their soft tacos is also good. This meal is so filling and satisfying. You mixed this with the chips and salsa and you'll enjoy the meal. We still have to come back and try their other menu. It is located where Southland Mall is. We were hungry after working on the house so we decided to order 9 tacos and 1 burrito to-go. It was Wednesday around 8pm. It was $80 something for the food. They even have a salsa bar with chips, sauces, limes, radishes, jalapeños with carrots. Don't forget to take some to-go. There's no condiments included in the to-go bag. Holy, the tacos were so soggy and they fell apart. It was so hard to eat. I think the meats were too hot and so the corn tortillas couldn't withstand the heat and juices. I think you can only eat the tacos at the restaurant. Don't order tacos to-go. I ordered lengua, beef cheeks, and carnitas. The carnitas had salsa on top. The meats were very good and tender. This location is not as good as the San Leandro E. 14th St. location and here's why: the carne asada meat was cut in smaller pieces and the amount of rice and beans in this regular burrito was scarce. I did not enjoy this burrito nearly enough as the one I had at the San Leandro location. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious just like the other location.
