La Chaparrita - Their burritos are so good & always come hot piping hot! - Mexican Near Me - Hayward, California

A great spot for a quick lunch! My job is on the road and I look for quick lunches a few times a week such as fast food, pho, etc. but sometimes I just want something for less than $10.00 =/ I was working in the area and decided to find local taquerias and came across La Chaparrita! Parking lot if a little confusing since the lines are scrambled, but I snagged short term street parking. $4/super taco was perfect for a filling but not food coma-y lunch. Quick service, clean restaurant/restroom. Take out is very popular here, I'd be back read more

This place was cute and clean. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the burrito I ordered could have had less beans and more meat. But as far as flavor it was good. The tacos were good. Our food came out quick. read more

A Family owned place, very clean and welcoming. They also have a food truck, so they are already experts at working together quickly as a team. Lots of choices, we each had burritos- me a Supremo, hubby a Californian. The beef was steak, well seasoned and a good portion with beans , sour cream, cheese, rice , sauce, salsa. Hubby had added Guacamole and onions, Came with fresh thin hot tortilla chips, pickled veggies- salad with radishes, peppers, cauliflower, a nice addition. Enjoyed the festive colorful eat-in dining area, pretty tablecloth -table for 4. Lots of room, space in between tables made our meal relaxing and enjoyable. Enjoyed Mexican Coke and Fritos- the meal was served quickly. Great service too. Easy parking- lot to the side. Easy to get to freeway. Clean bathrooms. Thanks for a good lunch. We'll be back. read more

So sad to see them under new ownership, and the food didn't stay the same. Went in the other day on my home from work for their enormous and delicious nachos, and they don't even sell them. Back to the truck on Whipple it is! Went to the truck to get my fix. Truck gets 5 stars! read more

Not bad at all! Our first time ordering from Grub Hub. The food arrived hot and fresh as it was made and was not cold in any way. They do give you lots to eat. My burrito looked bigger than most places that served up Super Burritos. Did not take that long to arrive. But glad we tried out something different for a change. If we are ever in the area we may consider trying this out. Note - I noticed in the app, it had a number 2 next to the business. I am not sure if this signifies it's a food truck or something or if it's another branch of the business. Nonetheless we're happy we tried and liked! $33.00 for Sopes, Burrito and a Soda before tip and delivery. read more

One of the few places to get good Mexican food, including faves like a burrito bowl (that's not from Chipotle) and a hot cheeto burrito. There's plenty of vegetarian options, as well. I've only been here twice after phoning in an order for take out and have been extremely happy both times! The hot cheeto burrito is out of this world! Will definitely come back for a true dining experience to enjoy the cute and authentic décor and try the tacos. read more

Spec-taco-lar food! Hayward is very lucky to have a more formal location for this awesome Mexican food spot. I believe La Chaparrita had a food truck for several years with a strong following in Hayward; but, they now have a brick and mortar location here at 44 W. Tennyson. Take that as a great sign their food is tasty. So far I've tried their tacos, burrito bowl, and quesadillas. I have been extremely impressed with the freshness and taste of the food here compared to other Mexican restaurants (especially the chain spots like Chipotle). The tacos were so tasty I barely blinked a few times before they were gone; the quesadilla impressed me with the quality and taste of the meat (I ordered carne asada). Not to mention, the portions were more than adequate for leftovers. 400% I am going back to try their other options such as the hot Cheeto burrito. Did I mention they're also affordable and available through ubereats and other apps? read more

The torta La Chaparrita never disappoints! From The melty Oaxacan cheese, to the charred marinated pork and chorizo, to the tangy pineapple and fresh lettuce, tomato and avocado. Its heaven on fresh bread. I'm so glad they are still open after so many places closed in the pandemic. Food hasn't suffered one bit. My hats off to the family for keeping the best standard of quality! Thank you. read more

The food was on point. My husband got the super burrito that he loved. Had some crunch to it and it was THICK. I got the Torta la CHAPARRITA that had so much meat and great seasoning. To start this review off I just want to say that when it comes to Mexican food specifically I am very picky, i've lived in Hayward for years and so many people till this day will recommend Senaida's, which is right down the street but I really believe that people only go there because it's drive-thru and convenient. I say that because I've been there three different times and got three different dishes and I've never been impressed by their food, I decided to try this place and oh my gosh I've found my Oasis! This is what I've been looking for, One of the meat was greasy and the beans are made just the way my Nana makes them! The inside of the restaurant is clean and has an open floorplan, I ordered a carne asada sope and taco al pastor with rice and beans, next I'll try the hot Cheetos burrito! Maybe today! Great job! I'll be a regular for sure! read more

Finally got the chance to try this place out, and it was pretty good! I've been looking for a hot Cheetos burrito, and this one hit the spot. We ordered two burritos one hot Cheetos with Asada the other super burrito(my partner enjoyed this) with asada as well. The beef was a bit chewy but only in a few spots, so the texture was really the only issue I had. Flavor was great, service was good, the food was walked out to our table, overall pretty chill place with decent eats. Check it out if you need a quick heavy lunch. 4/5 read more

Discovered by my son who loves flaming hot Cheetos because they serve a burrito made with it. I prefer to get my street tacos in carne asada, carnitas and pastor. There's a side parking lot available and inside is quite spacious and clean. The sauce is delicious and flavorful. Quick and friendly service, don't miss it even though there's many other Mexican restaurants on this street! read more

La Chaparrita - Tacos de alpastor & a manzana soda - Mexican Near Me - Hayward, California

New favorite taqueria. Hidden gem on Tennyson where the liquor store/gateway kitchen used to be. Their Al pastor is delicious.

I ordered a Super Carne Asada burrito and added guacamole! Side of spicy salsa 5 star yummy! Tastes like fresh ingredients, meat was flavorful, great amount of cheese, & not overpowered by rice! It was simply great! Salsa was GOOD too! I fully intended to save my husband half but after 1 bite I quickly realized that was NO longer happening! I moved to Hayward last year and was struggling to find good Mexican food! So much that I was driving back to Oakland and San Leandro to go to my fave spots because I had been so disappointed here . Happy that this place popped up in my Yelp. It looks like it's relatively new, a cool secret little gem! This place is super low key with a parking lot and corner store next door! Clutch! Looks like cleanliness is important to them, as everything was spotless. Fridge fully stocked with your favorite drinks especially Jarritos! The señor at the counter was polite and sweet. It wasn't busy so my burrito was finished in 5 mins! I will definitely be back! I HAVE FOUND MY HAYWARD BURRITO SPOT! I feel complete! Lol read more

This is for the taco truck. I got back home and we were missing 6 tacos out for the 24 we ordered. And when we called to try to give a refund, they can't do it over the phone. "We aren't suppose to do that" Well, you're not suppose to have horrible customer service and you're also not suppose to miss 6 tacos. We ordered $95 dollars worth of food which were 24 tacos and 2 quesadillas. After nicely asking for extra salsas, the cashier, rolled her eyes at me. After purchasing 95$ worth of food and 24 tacos I'm pretty sure it's normal to ask for some extra salsas. After she rolled her eyes at me, I asked firmly but nicely, "did you just roll your eyes at me?" We basically come here once a week and about order $95 dollars worth of food. I called to talk about the interaction and they said they would talk to her, however, after asking for her name.. they hung up on me. I have had good interactions except for this lady who is 98% the cashier. What a sad life you live if you must roll your eyes on a simple request. Pathetic. She consistently has a sorry, sad, hates-her-life attitude and I hope she becomes a much happier person for everyone's sake who has to have an interaction with her. read more

I was happy I decided to try a new restaurant. We ordered chicken taquitos, plain quesadilla, a super burrito, and asada tacos. Quality: all of the food was cooked as I liked. The meats were a good quality and chopped small. Beans in the burrito had the 'made there" texture. Our taquitos we a good sized with nice toppings. Quesadilla: cheese was flavorful and the tortilla was excellent. It was baked perfect. The burrito had a good mix of meat. Rice and beans. Tacos: one order was plenty. I will come back often read more

I walk in and music is BLASTING. I waited in line for almost 10mins and no-one wanted to take my order. I've ate here before but wanted to give it a second try. The asada is dry. tortilla is stale. no chips/salsa. DO NOT EAT HERE. Go to Senaidas thats less than 100ft away. read more

You don't understand how delicious this was. You order a burrito and they make sure the cheese is nice and melted with a perfect crunch, besides the big size all there ingredients are fresh! We decided that for our regular Wednesday lunch we would try out the new little Mexican restaurant by the railroad track. Not that many trains go by so the railroad track is not a problem. The food is delicious and generous, and the prices are I think the best in the area. I hope our neighbors will all come out and support this locally owned restaurant. The tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and crisp and new. We tried almost everything on the menu between the four of us, and we all agreed that this is a business was trying to save. We will definitely go back. read more

I was so disappointed when I came, The service was not good. I got a super taco and it was more like a regular with just A but if beans, cheese and aguacate!! Definitely killed it. My brother got a burrito and it was good, I was just disappointed in how she gave us our drinks with no ice, we wanted to eat there and gave us to go plates. Kept passing this place by, its right next to Senaida's up the next block facing Tennyson Rd, they are usually setup in front of the restaurant with the taco stand. Pulled up and tried some tacos, the beef (carne asada) tacos were great, $3 each, would definitely order these again. The Birria taco was pretty good, fyi they do not come with consume (not a big deal to me), although its larger in size than the regular tacos they are bit pricey (as is the trend for birria tacos) at 5 bucks pop, I would say they are overpriced, I only had one and it was pretty filling. The chicken tacos to me were not the move, semi shredded with bigger chunks of dark meat and kind of dry, I wasn't digging the pollo asado flavor that much, something is different about the chicken but that might just be me being picky. Service is friendly, they might be busy when you walk up but they prepare your order pretty quick once placed. They give a very small amount of salsa, literally more plastic than salsa. I like to spice up my meal so I had to negotiate with her to get a couple extra gotas of green salsa, by the way the greens salsa is good. I will be back here in near future to explore more of the menu, for now I will say its a convenient and worthy addition to the local Taco supply chain. read more
