During our initial consultation we told him what we wanted and the budget we wanted to stick with. We got more than what we asked for and he stayed within our budget. He was patient with me when it came to finalizing my choices for the shape of the pool and surrounding landscape. He gave a reasonable timeframe of pool completion given today's circumstances (8 months) but he was able to complete the pool in 4 months! All the crews that he sent to our home showed up at their designated time, were professional, and cleaned up after completing a job. Dave was always available to take my calls and answer all my questions. Every time a job was complete with the pool he would come out and inspect it and make sure I was satisfied and addressed all my concerns. My pool is four years old built by AAABar pool company. It already has 3 different leaks and another issue with the drain on the bottom of the pool that is supposed to function somehow but does not. I had the leak repair company come out and inspect and will be costly to fix. AAABar says it is out of warranty and the clay and ground shifted. Interestingly enough no one I know has had such problems after such a short amount of time. Also, the company did not level/slope the ground when they built the pool and decking. All the water when it rains or when the kids are splashing in the pool just sits up against the foundation of my house. I'm sure that cannot be good. That will also be very costly to fix. I guess just do more research before hiring a pool company to build your pool. Very disappointed in the lack of quality. This has turned into a money pit for us so far. read more

The worst pool building experience I have ever encountered!!! I hired Dave from AAABar pools at the beginning of June to build my pool. by the 3rd week in June, Dave's TRUE COLORS came out! This man is misogynistic, condescending, extremely rude and unprofessional. The inconsistencies in his work ethic and the day labors he was bringing to my home when he did show up, became unbearable, I noticed that his equipment cracked the sidewalk leading to my driveway. I mentioned this to Dave and he became condescending and sarcastic, telling me that "If I am nice to him, then perhaps I will think about fixing the cracked sidewalk" I highly doubt Dave would have spoken to another MALE this way! At the end of July, I noticed that the giant gaping hole still in my wall that leads to the backyard was still there leaving me open to a potential "Attractive Nuisance Suit" when I mentioned this to Dave,he became sarcastic and nasty.and proceeded to tell me what he didn't have to do and what was in his contract and why I needed to be focused on getting him his 5k before he went on vacation the next week instead of bothering him about things I know nothing about! This man even went as far as to say " I AM NOT SURE YOU PEOPLE KNOW WHAT A GOOD POOL JOB LOOKS LIKE" BTW...this project was my 3rd pool being installed to my 3rd property in two States. I was mortified and offended by the "YOU PEOPLE statement as well as worried that the pool wouldn't be professionally done due to his attitude. I filed a claim with the BBB. Dave the owner of AAABar pools began to text me nasty messages saying "You better retract your complaint with BBB" I informed Dave that I was not scared of him or his threats and that I expected my pool to be done on time and without unprofessional antics from him. The next week neither Dave, nor his crew of "Home Depot" day laborers showed up to work; 5 Days went by and I decided to contact the "AZ registrar of contractors" to complain about Dave's workmanship, lack of consistency and unprofessional-ism;This set Dave off!!!! Dave began text and call me; calling me a "LOW LIFE for calling the AZROC on him. I expected the meeting, at my home with the AZROC investigator & Dave to be professional; but as usual, Dave went off again screaming at myself and my niece calling us LIARS and storming off while the investigator was talking to him trying to calm him down. The pool was completed on time once the AZROC got involved. I thought my nightmare starring Dave of AAABar pools was over. NO SUCH LUCK.... the pool is 45 days old and now,has a leak in the waterfall, and the pool sweeper he installed does not work, no suction at all! I called Dave several times and each time he would say something nasty and hang up on me or not even answer the phone at all! I called the AZROC again, they came out saw the issue and wrote him up again... to fix the issue. I am now getting nasty unprofessional and unnecessary text messages from Dave again!! Dave's favorite word seems to be "LOW LIFE" as I have been called this slur both verbally and in writing by this male several times. I am a 76 yrs old Great Grandmother and active Philanthropist, and never have I ever had to deal with such disrespectful, unprofessional, male chauvinistic,& borderline racist behavior from a company I HIRED & PAID to complete a project. To be clear.... The pool looks GOOD on the outside, and I hope I have no more problems with it once the AZROC makes Dave fix the leaking waterfall and non-working pool accessories he had installed. He did not even discuss our options and prices. He said since the house is on the market, it would not benefit him or me to build the pool at all! We reminded him, independently of what we are doing with the house, he needs to do his job. He packed up his things and left shortly after arriving. I explained to him we are either selling the home or building the pool, not both. He did not even listen and left very angry. I was going to use this company to build our next pool, at the new home. If you have never had a pool built in the past you may not know how unreliable pool builders and contractors can be. Dave is the exact opposite. He is always on time, professional and overseas his contractors to make sure the work is of high quality. Our initial impression was extremely positive. He came out to the house and designed the pool on the spot. He also gave us a quote which was almost $20,000 less than Dolphin Pools. His subcontractors have been in the business almost thirty years and are extremely reliable. He's very quick with getting the work done. We're going through a different company (BYOP) to build our own pool, but the guy who gave us the quote for one step in the process seemed a little sketchy. I reached out to Dave to ask if they do just portions of the job. He was INCREDIBLY rude. He said if he doesn't do the whole job, he won't do any of it. He asked what we were doing to our yard and I told him that I understood he wouldn't do just a portion, but asked if he had recommendations on finding a sub to do this one portion. He said he had no advice. I know he uses subs based on the reviews and he wasn't willing to share any contacts with me because he was pouting that we didn't hire him. So, if you're a sub of his, let this be known that his ego won't allow him to share your information with paying customers. Lesson learned. My husband called to make an appointment and the first impression wasn't great. The phone was answered like it was a cell phone rather than a business. We made an appointment any way and the guy never showed up or called to cancel with us. It's very unprofessional. When you're looking to spend a substantial amount of money on something, you want to feel reassured that you're going to get taken care of. Great sense of humor and kept us informed of every step of the process from beginning to end. Met with Dave, made our preferences known and he came up with a great design for our small backyard. Upon inspection, gas lines were found to be in the area of the pool. We were disappointed, but Dave reassured us we would just work around the issue. He came up with another design very quickly and we were back in business, in fact the pool was completed a bit ahead of schedule. Dave supervised each and every aspect in the installation. Everyone working with Dave from digging to fence installation, to Glendale city inspectors, etc were very professional and so nice, never too busy to answer questions or explain what was being done. I was also impressed that as each group finished their part of the process, they always swept and cleaned up before leaving. We scheduled an in-home appointment with David for a design/quote on a pool. He did not show up, so we called him. He apologized and said he had just finished up at a job on the other side of town, and would need to reschedule. We understand that these things can happen, (although a phone call letting us know would have been nice) so we rescheduled. He did not show for the second appointment. My husband TEXT him to ask if he was going to make our appointment? He TEXT back: "Sorry I'm just going to have to pass I'm sorry for that". He also put in a built-in BBQ, Fire pit, pavers and artificial grass to finish off my previously desert landscaped yard. We are 100% satisfied with his work and absolutely love our backyard. So my family decided we wanted a pool in our new house. I did my research very thoroughly for such a large purchase of course. Was referred to other contractors and large builders. Called, emailed, etc. many builders. Had meetings with a few, some never called back or even got back to us after having met with them. Found aaabar through bbb with an A+ rating so looked more into it. Submitted an email inquiry from their website and within minutes received a call from Dave. Set up a time to meet and he showed up on time. Wife and I discussed what we wanted and we measured the yard and drew up some plans. We had a few more meetings scheduled with other builders and told Dave we would get back with him. After meeting with the other builders and fine tuning what my family wanted, we decided to let aaabar pools build ours. Dave said that now things are gonna get moving quickly, and he was right. He pulled permits very fast and a few days later he said we are gonna dig on Monday June 1st. So 2 days of digging, Wednesday was plumbing Thursday was steel, Saturday electrical. Then an inspection by city and then shotcrete. Then came tile and kool deck/ acrylic, fence, etc. All in all about 5 weeks from start to finish for the type of pool I wanted which is fast. But all trades used did a very good job. Dave showed up for every phase and went through with each crew what was going on. Dave also was in contact the whole time and filled us in with the next phase or just answered any questions I had. We have only had our pool complete for a few weeks and use it almost every day. Have a 3 and 4 yr old and they love it and want to be in it every chance they have. The finished product turned out better the we had envisioned. The pool is gorgeous and was made exactly the way we wanted. The process for how intense it is, was actually very smooth and pain free. Everyone who has seen it has been very impressed with how nice it looks. We have told everyone how happy we are and we whole heartedly recommend Dave and aaabar pools. read more
