He was knowledgeable, checked everything out , on our pool equipment and made assessments as to what was needed to fix our pool. In April 2025, I contacted Choice home warranty for a leak in my pool pump. All Star Pools was the contractor, James came out to the house took his pictures, collected his deductible and sent his report to the insurance company. This interaction was great, the insurance company approved the fix and the job was completed. Fast forward to June 22, 2025. The exact thing that was fixed in april was broken again. I texted the owner of All Star Pools and he told me to make another claim. I was not going to be present when he arrived to evaluate and photograph the new leak. I provided his office my credit card number to pay the co pay. When he arrived my husband was actually home and James stated to him that something must have hit the pipe for it to crack and break like that. James stated he needed the service call fee in cash. He took his pictures and submitted another claim. Please note that my pool pump is behind cement and gated off, there is no way anything could or would have hit that pipe. Needless to say my claim was denied due to the damage not being "normal wear and tear". I had another company come out and fix the problem and they stated who ever completed this took a short cut and the pipe coming out of the connector was not level putting pressure on the connector and that is why it cracked in less then 2 months. I requested both sets of photo's that were taken by the owner on 3 separate occasions (the ones he submitted to Choice home warranty) and no response. My guess is he does not want me to have the pictures due to the fact he knows he did me dirty. James I do not feel that you are a decent man with any kind or morals or ethics and will never use your services again. As for Choice home warranty, they need to drop you like a bad habit. read more

This company is part of a home warranty company - terrible business. Our pool motor broke: they provided a refurbished motor that broke down less than a month later. I've been waiting going on two weeks for another garbage refurbished motor and my pool is GREEN. They won't replace with a new motor because why should they. Save a penny. James Huey is the owner of this company and he physically assaulted me today at his place of business which is also his home and I was not aware of this until I arrived there. I went there bc i wanted a refund on the service call. I rang the doorbell and he answered the door. I asked if he was the owner of the All Star pools and he said yes and told me I had some nerve showing up. I said this is your place of business. You won't take my so I came to your place of business. He came out of the door and got within inches of me and told me to get off his property. He then shoved me with both hands to the point I got completely spun around and tripped over his dog. He then continued backing me up and then shoved me again. I told him you can't physically assault a woman I'm calling the cops. I called the cops and I filed a report and I'm pressing charges. He was not arrested bc he said he did not touch me. LIE!! i am a woman and no man should put his hands on a woman or any other human being and he did it without a second thought or even a pause. Every woman is at risk with this person around. James came to my house, after waiting 10 days since claim was placed. Though I sent the warranty company AND All Star Pools direct pics of work needed, he said I am not able to do any work today. I asked how long, he said he wasn't sure. I said I sent pics to help avoid this. He tells me find someone else. If you can't have a conversation and express what you tried to do to prevent this with this guy throwing a fit, then this company doesn't need to exist. James, his wife(on the phone), and his son were all friendly, punctual, respectful and most of all my pool has never performed better! Horrible horrible customer service. If you're looking to get you job done, please go somewhere else, heck allstar pools told me the same. They came out after my home warranty company sent my pool service request to them. They seemed nice at first but then everything went down hill. Named a few things needed yo fix including my motor. Said they would have to take it to the shop to rebuild. After I paid the invoice, James suddenly said they will just bring a refurbished motor to replace my motor in site. I was still fine with that. After reviewing the invoice, I found they'll still charge me for an o-ring which I already told them I had, and that they shouldn't include in the invoice. Reached out to James to ask if he could remove it from my bill as I have a brand new one they can use. He lost in and asked me to go somewhere else, then refunded me. Wow! No explanation why they couldn't use the o-ring I had. Please go somewhere else if you want to get your pool work done. read more

I've seen they said have claimed someone "let a barrage of expletives" and another person "incessantly called daily" so obviously it's not the companies fault. Duh, every single customer they have is crazy! In all truthfulness, any company that has to resort to insulting their customers for being unhappy is a shitty business, how about doing what it takes to fix the problem as opposed to trying to discredit the person who just wants their pool fixed. Having used Allstar pos for several years. It comes with a big disappointment that I had to find a new company to service our pool needs. Within the last year I was given erroneous information as to the service our pool needed. Also, the cost of repairs kept escalating and the trust we once had with the service personal had deteriorated. Fortunately we found a company now that for the moment has gained our trust and we will see if the change was a wise one with a future review. 1 Year warranty my ass! I purchased a refurbished Hayward Ecostar Drive from these clowns on ebay for $355 on July 13th, delivered to my home in Southern CA on July 16th 2018. Worked great until Aug 16th 2018 when it started reducing the RPM to 400 during the timer cycle and wouldn't go past 3000. The control panel also went bad within a few days of contacting them and made my pump run 24/7. I contacted All-Star-Pools through ebay to ask for help in troubleshooting on Aug 16th. No reply for a week, so on Aug 23 I requested a return and they promptly declined it. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well as a chargeback with my credit card company. I noticed that anything over 3000 rpm makes the system go into this whisper quiet, barely pumping mode. Functions are normal as long as 3000 rpm isn't exceeded. Could this be a defective drive? Soooo our normal guy that works with our home warranty had an issue and. Couldn't come out so they gave our service call to James. Well let's first start by saying we placed a call 6 days before he came out. Our pool pump stopped working still turns on but obviously the motor is out. We've had this happen...... comes out is here a total of three minutes with my husband standing with him the whole time. Turns is on turns it off and leaves saying we need a new motor. We knew that but then goes and tells our warranty company it quit working because of the rain. First off it wasn't raining when it went out and second how the hell did you diagnose that in three minutes by turning it on and off? So now my warranty company is saying it's not covered huh? I of course will not let that go and getting a second opinion from the guy that was supposed to come out in the first place! James you should be ashamed! What did you think we were gonna pay you the 250 for the pump oh nope I also made a formal complaint with landmark. You are deceptive and it's baffling as to why. Called our Home Warranty company about an error light on our pool chlorine generator. They sent out an "expert" from All Star Pool Service. For a $69.00 service fee all he did was take pictures and left with the words, "I have to talk to my Boss". If that was as much as he could do then why didn't the "Boss" come out in the first place!. I went on YouTube and with the help of a multitester I figured out the problem and fixed it myself. He was able to schedule for 2 days from initial contact, texted me when on the way and completed the work per the quote given off pictures! Beware. They will do what they can to get your home warranty to deny the claim. They came out to repair a "loose wire" (great!) and yet for 2 more weeks after their visit the pool didn't run. Then had them come back out in 2 weeks only to have THEM tell warranty company that the pool was in disrepair... of course, it hadn't run for 2 weeks because pool runs in the middle of the night - who knew it wasn't running until I woke up at 3:30am to find it NOT running! Hence the second trip for pool repair! (This was after I spent $650 to drain, bleach and refill the pool so all of that expense is now OUT THE WINDOW because they took the machine hostage for $408 a week ago - paid it and still don't have my pool pump back!!) They will do anything to get your home warranty company to not cover the charge so that you have to pay it yourself! Had they fixed it the first time, all would be great. read more
