Mike, Grace and Andrea were the absolute right choice for us. Their communication was top-notch, keeping us updated every step of the way. The quartz refinish, new pool light and hand rail all look terrific! Top-notch quality for the price (they were also the lowest bid). And even when there was an issue while drilling for the hand rail, they were on top of things and made everything right! We recently had our old, crumbling plaster pool completely refinished by Mercury Pools and we could not be happier with the result! We put in a mini-pebble pool surface, had the tile re-done, and had our deck sanded down, repaired and resurfaced/repainted. The work was done extremely well and in a timely manner, and perhaps more impressive, the communication of the company was excellent. They sent over a timeline and explanation of the work, they touched base as they project progressed, they have a project manager come by and check on the progress as the days/weeks went by, etc. It really was a great experience and we couldn't be happier with the result! read more

I've posted before about this company. Today, I hired another company to redo all the grout in the tile. The grout is cracking and falling off in small pieces. Additionally, after Mercury Pool "finished" replastered, I noticed one of my bottom drains wasn't working. I had to drain the pool so a more reliable company can redo all of the grout. I lifted the lids on the bottom drains to discover the one side was packed with plaster. I chopped it out and got it clear. Please don't hire this company unless you want to hire other professionals to redo their work. Mercury Pool completed the job June 10, 2021. Today is February 17, 2023. read more

Our pool has been looking kind of rough for a few years now; holes in the plaster; bad concrete, tiles chipped and picked off. I had been looking for someone to resurface it for a while. As you can imagine, the ads and internet are full of scammers, rip-off artists, and nuts. After several estimates that felt like being with a used car salesman, we stumbled upon Mercury Pool Plastering quite by accident. This is a family owned business. It was a great experience from the beginning. Michael came out within a few days, inspected the pool, and we talked details for a few. No pressure, no BS, no sense of getting scammed. The price was very fair, and I scheduled them. Grace, who one of the owners, was my office POC and was always responsive and available. Andrea was my POC in the field, she was at the house regularly to see how things were going. Grace she sent me a schedule of when work would be done, and what it would be. And they stuck to it. This company is poorly run and barely organized. They made so many mistakes it is astonishing. We researched how this replastering with mini-tek is to be handled. Mercury pool did the absolute bare minimum and many times fell absolutely short of a poor job. The "employees" brought to work on my pool had zero clue what to do- they were being trained hat to do at my job site. Inferior materials were used- discussions and color choices were about "pebbletek or mini tek". I asked for warranty information but Grace never provided anything. I have no clue what they used. They screwed up so badly that they had to drain our pool again, cut the errors out and do it over again at MY COST! I bickered and was able to get the work discounted by $1,000, but we had to shell out another $1,000 over our contract price. Need reliability as to when they will show up? Forget it! Grace will give you dates and times, but they come and go without anyone showing up., or they show up unscheduled. They expect you to keep our gate unlocked. We don't do that! The workers used our hoses and nozzles, broke all of them. They threw their garbage and used gum in the yard. We have dogs- the gym is poisonous to them! The drained the slurry in our yard, without permission! Doing so killed my cinnamon sage bush and our princess palm has been struggling since. We have no clue what chemicals or hazards were flushed into our yard. We were told "it's safe" by someone who couldn't tell me any other information. Our surfaces are staining easily. We don't believe we got the actual mini-tek promised. The "Kooldeck " we were promised? It was not IR (heat reflective) covering, just regular paint. We paid to have a portion of the Kooldeck leveled where water was sitting, they didn't do it, just painted over it. Water still pools. Oh! When they were spraying the "minitek" in the pool, the workers pulled out the foam pool line protectors. That led to clog pipes, which overheated our pump. To this day, I can time 1 minute and fill a small bucket with waste debris they didn't bother to clean up. They left an absolute mess. The best part of all of this? My neighbors got to watch the guys showering themselves in our front yard!!! read more

Just had Mercury do my pool and it went great. Mini-pebble, new tile, acrylic lace deck. I went with this company in part because I wanted to know that if we hit a bump in the road I'd have someone to contact that would respond in a timely manner and address my concerns. We hit a little snag with the weather. A patch of rain right in the middle of the project, but Grace got back to me to answer my question on the schedule and any issues. The price was excellent, the workers impressed me with their talent, but the real advantage Mercury has is Grace. read more

I contacted Grace and Joel on 08/13/2019 about my cool decking chipping for no apparent reason. On August 19th Grace finally got back to me and told me someone would be here on 08/30/2019 to repair. No one came on 08/30/2019 to repair. I contacted Grace informing no one had shown up for the repair. It has been 14 days and they have not responded to me. On 08/29/2019 my new pool equipment they had installed stopped working. I called Victor to tell him my pump appeared to be broken. He sent a contractor out the next day to fix it. Chris showed up and had it working within 2 hours. I'm thankful that they fixed the new pool pump. I really wish they would honor their warranty and come out and fix my cool decking. read more

I moved into my house in 1995. There was all ready an in-ground (plaster) pool when we moved in. It had been built in 1990 by Sylvan Pools. The pool was beautiful until around 2010. There were a couple of spots at the bottom of the steps where the re- are was showing through. So, I decided to have it re-plastered in 2012. I thought they did a good job, at first. The last day the worker, who put water into the pool, left a stain. Okay, I put up with that. Soon after, I tried to turn on the pool light & it didn't c come on. It was flooded with water. Okay again, since I never use the pool light. But, starting about 3-4 years ago my pool has started to get more & more stains in it. We live in Phoenix Arizona. We don't close our pool & the pump is run everyday. This year we have had a terrible time with algae. While dealing with it I'm finding more & more hairline cracks in the plaster. Last year, this company resurfaced our pool beautifully & even ahead of schedule. Now, if that's all you need to do, this is the company to do it. Now, if you want to arrange anything else, requiring the most basic of skills & Communication skills, such as requesting that they send over someone to look at our greenish water & quickly tell us what to do in order to to fix it, this is NOT the company for you. We honestly don't understand why they list themselves as a contractor AND pool cleaner when they obviously have no desire to do anything with pools after they finish installing, resurfacing, etc. Regardless, it took weeks of the company promising their best guy would be coming over that day & him never showing up & Never even being considerate enough to even let us know he was blowing us off time after time. Finally, when he did grace us with his presence, the problem was resolved & we enjoyed our pool all summer long. Needless to say, we tried having someone sent over to simply direct us on how to fix our green water again in time for memorial day holiday. Despite having all week wide open for his quick visit, we were told he was finishing a job on Friday & would be swinging by our home afterwards. She said that he had no idea when he would be coming to us. Despite finding that extremely unprofessional & inconsiderate, we sat around waiting for him to come & guess what, he never came, never called, nothing. So, we were unable to enjoy our pool over the holiday & have finally learned our lesson, we'll be working with a professional company from now, since this is not obviously one of those. read more

Here's the short version: Mercury caused permanent damage to my pool that would cost tens of thousands of dollars to repair properly. I suggest you look elsewhere for a reputable pool resurfacing company. If you want the long version of the story, continue reading below: I had these jokers and their "discount for cash" crew resurface my pool with mini pebble. My pool had pop-ups that were functioning flawlessly prior to Mercury beginning work as they had all recently been replaced. Three of the pop ups were damaged by Mercury when they used their air chisels to hammer out the old plaster. They didn't just damage the pop up heads, they damaged the pipe that the heads go in to. I told them I wanted the damage fixed and I was assured REPEATEDLY by Victor that the damage would be repaired. Rather than replace the broken pipe which would have been the proper way to effect the repair, Victor chose to use stainless steel screws in a half-assed attempt to re secure the pop-ups to their base, assuring me that he does this "all the time". And then he whined dramatically when I demanded a sizable chunk of money to be removed from the final bill (which he denied and haggled over) because I knew Mercury's hack job would come back to haunt me later. Well, guess what? The pool pump pressure is too strong to allow 4 one inch screws to hold a pop up head in place and within just a couple of days the pop ups began to lift, crack and break. It's a great way for people to cut their feet open while swimming. The only way to properly repair my broken pop ups is to chisel out the plaster, dig down to the pipes and replace them. That would require resurfacing the entire pool all over again which Mercury isn't about to agree to. In retrospect I should have gone after their contractor license. read more

I met with Victor and instantly felt a whole lot more comfortable with taking on such a big project. He talked me through the whole process and seemed very trustworthy. I found them on Yelp but asked around too and turns out Checker Pool Supply and Blue Marlin Pool service also recommend them. I just completed a pool remodel with additional concrete work and cool deck resurfacing. Without a doubt Victor and his crews were nothing less than top notch. Every detail was thoroughly explained and the whole process was flawless. The quality of their work is outstanding; any issues were quickly resolved. I had a pool remodeled by Mercury Pool. The quality of work was excellent. We had new waterline tile installed, as well as tile around the spa over flow and fountain. We have a very old pool that was in need of resurfacing. I discussed the job with 4 company representatives, and settled on Mercury. The costs, except for one company, were relatively close. Victor, the representative we met with, provided us with written guidelines for managing the start up of the pool once the work was complete. We were not in a hurry and were surprised when the demolition crew showed up the next morning to remove the old plaster. They seemed to take care in keeping the mess to a minimum. The crew was gone by mid-afternoon. The tile guy(s) came two weeks later and did a very nice job installing new tile around the top edge of the pool. The tile is perfectly aligned and level. Next came the crew who was to prep the walls for the new coating and they were very good about explaining what they were doing and some problems they had found that needed extra care. Then the day of the coating application came. We had been in contact with the Mercury office about letting us know in advance when they would be there, and they missed the mark again that morning. But, all that was needed of us was to open the alley gate for the mixer carrying the coating and the crew took it from there. They worked hard and were done by early afternoon. The coating and tile looked great, even without water in the pool once they were done. The final item we were waiting on was a handrail and after a few days of waiting, it was finally installed. All in all, Mercury did a great job on the pool. The only complaint we have with them is their lack of notification when the crews would be out to do the work, but that did not make much of an issue with the work or our schedule. read more
