John and Cindy Kennedy from Cave Creek: We decided several years ago to install a swimming pool, but were usure of the design we wanted or what the layout of our backyard would be. So we had the luxury of time and hosted at least 10 pool companies to our home to solicit pool designs, and bids. Our very last bid was SATURN POOLS owned by Nathan Green. Rarely do you expect a major construction project to complete without some issues or problems. In this build, the rarity occurred. From start to finish the build process was flawless, and the end result was a custom pool designed by Nathan Green based on a concept my wife related to him that he conceptualized for us. Our pool has literally taken our breath away and our custom designed water feature has become the envy of several neighbors (custom designed by Nathan Green). Quality, craftmanship, and materials were all top quality right down to the standard tile selections we opted for (would have been upgrades with any other company). So here are my takeaways from Saturn Pools and Nathan Green: 1. Saturn pools is what I would refer to as a low volume "boutique" pool company. The focus is not to build 1000 pools in a year, rather my observation is more that Saturn wants to build XX number of high quality pools. There was no high pressure process. Nathan presented his idea, we assessed it, and ultimately went with it. 2. Saturn pools does not weigh the pricing down with pool salesman fees, or additional fees for contractors to pad the bottom line etc. From start to finish you deal with one man, Nathan Green, the owner. He designs the pool, is the project manager for the build, and shows up on the job site regularly to check on the work being performed. It was not out of the ordinary to see him actually out there with a shovel himself. Hands on owner-I liked that. 3. Nathan was approachable, and always either a text message, email, or phone call away. When I came up with looney ideas that I thought would be great add-ons, he politely told me the pros and cons to my idea, and the reasoning behind his thoughts. He also would incorporate an idea if he thought it was beneficial for me. So he helped me not make mistakes he knew I would regret later during my pool ownership. 4. Saturn Pools/Nathan Green also, in my observation, cherry picked the contractors he used. I actually spoke at length to the excavator who was not only courteous, but wanted me aware and informed as to what he was doing-they hit granite so it was a hard dig. I had no idea what it was, but he took me outside and clearly I could see what he was talking about. The tile setter was focused, and the decking crew didn't mess around-they got it done, and were very good in their quality. So my summation on that is that you aren't getting a 1000 pool per year company grab anyone you can to be a sub-contractor. Rather, with Nathan you're getting his preferred contracting crews, crews he has established reciprocal business relationships with that he trusts. 5. Professionalism and customer treatment-outstanding. Nathan never pressured me for money up front etc. Rather there were pay points associated with each phase of the build. He or his office would reach out to me and let me know the amount of the payment needed. Easy Peezy! So in summary, if I moved and had to build another pool, the only company I would reach out to would be Saturn Pools and Nathan Green and forgo alternate pool companies. I highly recommend Saturn Pools as a builder, and again, the process was flawless from start to finish. As I said before, the quality and materials I gained by using Saturn Pools easily would have cost me $20,000 more due to commissions and added fees the larger cookie cutter companies upcharge for. So not only did I get a value (still wasn't cheap) but I got more for my money. Keep in mind this is a small local company so it takes a little more time to build-not much more, but you'll be happy if you opt for Saturn as your pool builder. My wife and I are not originally from Arizona, and when we decided to build a pool in our backyard, we didn't know where to start. Prior to our move, I contacted several pool companies to get an idea of cost and time to build. Only a few made a personal visit to assess the size and layout of our yard, and others didn't return my calls or emails. Pricing was right in line with other estimates, and the payment points were transparent and as quoted. Nate guided us in every aspect of our pool design, features, budget and estimated time of completion, which ultimately came out to be ahead of schedule. He directed us appropriately if a design or feature would not be cost effective in the long term. His communication through the entire build was excellent, and he was always available and responsive to any questions, even months after our pool was completed. Nate was regularly on-site to make sure that all work was completed to his specifications. We are thrilled with our new pool, and have received many compliments and requests for the name of the pool builder. We have friends who are using Saturn Pools based upon our recommendation, and they are equally happy with their choice. I could not be happier with Saturn Pool and Nate Green the owner. Super professional and great guy to work with, accommodated 2 changes to the decking dimensions, a change to add in a water feature, and the whole project came in on budget and ahead of schedule (6 months). Nate was a just call or text a way while the pool was going in. He was there every step of the way as the various subcontractors excavated, did plumbing, rebar, shotcrete, tile, and PebbleTec. The pool is beautiful! See for yourself in the pictures! Like everyone else in the valley, we wanted to get a pool installed in our home. I must have talked to 10 different pool companies including all the big ones like Shasta, Thunderbird, and Presidential. Even went to the home show to try to find a somewhat reasonable company and person to work with. Generally, these companies would start 1-1.5 years out, initial meeting was 1-2 months out, and pools started at $75k. Ridiculous, and it felt like they're trying to gouge people because pools are in such high demand right now. We also recommended Saturn Pool to a couple of friends and one has signed a contract and started the pool project. They are also extremely happy with Nate and the progress. I am shocked to read some of the other bad reviews and honestly a little mad because Nate's a quality person and doesn't deserve it. We are in the process of having our pool built by Nate Green, the owner of Saturn Pools. We hired Nate because of he claimed that customer service was his priority & he would be involved in building the pool himself & managing it. Nate has been Extremely Unprofessional from day one after we signed contract with him. He lied about building a pool in a new home build, he also lied about knowing how to read home blue print plans. He had me sign a elevation waiver that he would not be held liable if the elevation was incorrect. Our pool had to be built before our home due to elevation & retaining walls. Our home builder's excavator had to shoot the laser for proper elevation measurements for Nate. ..Had we known this we would not have hired Nate! Also when questioned about the utility permit he said "Fu$k off"! ...Can you believe this?!? He is VERY RUDE!! As of today, we have had to report him to the ROC because he has left our pool plumbing exposed (dug up) for almost a month now, and a site wall has dropped & shifted due to the monsoon floods. By the way, Nate does not supervise or manage his subs!! My advice is to stay far away from this pool builder, and look elsewhere. Saturn Pool Company installed our neighbor's swimming pool, so I am very familiar with the quality of their work. In fact, they did such a great job on our neighbors pool that we spend most every weekend during summer at their house. So that is the problem. I have gone back and forth on if I should write this review or not, but here I am. I would use caution when signing a contract with Saturn Pools. Their communication skills are absolutely terrible. We signed a contract with Saturn Pools on or around 12/12/2020. Upon signing the contract, we were under the assumption the permits were going to be submitted to the city. After no communication from Saturn Pools since we signed contract/handed over our deposit I decided to reach out to Nate around 01/05/2021 to get a response "if we received them, I would've called to let you know". A month later, on 02/05/2021 I received an email from Saturn Pools stating "the city has some additional requirements. They've been trying to resubmit, but the city website is down". I emailed the Owner, Nate on 02/10/2021 asking about a status update, giving them 5 additional days to submit to the city. I took to upon myself to contact the city and ask for a timeline. The city got back to me right away stating that they received an initial application on 01/05/2021, they sent a request for more information from Saturn Pools on 01/12/2021, and as of a MONTH later, 02/11/2021 there was still no second application. After receiving the information from the city, I decided to text Nate asking for a reason on the delay in resubmitting the application to the city. The response back, in my opinion was snarky and rude. "Jessica 1) cities don't five out accurate info. Paper is dated until some one actually looks at it. It could sit on their desks for weeks before they look at it and record it. Also, when there are questions it takes them days to get back to us. 2) If you are unhappy with the situation, we can refund the deposit and cancel the agreement if you like" He immediately put the blame on the city and offered us to cancel. If he was really interested in our business, he would've explained what happened and why there was a delay. I was so taken back by his comment to just cancel. The communication and professionalism just isn't there with Saturn Pools. read more

Nate and Saturn Pools just finished our pool last week. I can honestly say it was a per delight having Nate help us with our pool. He was so attentive in every step of the way and kept us informed as to what was scheduled next in the process. The pool looks absolutely beautiful and is exactly what I had envisioned in my mind. He also had our BBQ built in so that the travertine in the deck matches what is around the BBQ. Even when I had to make some changes in the decking Nate said "no problem" I can change that which made the whole project so much more functional. All of the crews that came out to do various work cleaned up after they were done. Nate even went over and above when I couldn't get the timer set for cleaning the pool. We received multiple bids but were feeling overwhelmed and and a bit uncomfortable with the whole idea UNTIL we met Nate with Saturn Pool Company. He was low pressure, highly informative, and put us immediately at ease. He stuck to the budget and the timeline he laid out for us at the beginning. Our experience with Nate at Saturn Pools was very positive, and we would highly recommend Saturn to anyone putting in a pool. From the start of our first appointment, Nate listened to what we wanted to do. He didn't patronize us, like some other pool guys we talked to - when he had recommendations that were contrary to what we said we wanted, he explained his reasons and guided us to a pool design that made sense from a cost and practicality standpoint, and yet still met our requirements. Nate's design work was excellent - he took our ideas and turned them into plans and graphics that showed us exactly what the pool would look like in our backyard. He walked us through all of our options, presented the pros and cons of all of them, and helped us to come up with a design that fit into our budget and our space. As with any construction project, the timeline for our pool was fluid, and subject to circumstances outside of anyone's control. Nate made sure that we were aware of that, and told us that he and his subcontractors would manage the project to the best of their abilities. They did - Nate was great about keeping us informed of the schedule, and checked in with his subs and with us regularly. He inspected all of the key points in the pool construction, and helped us to know what the city code requirements were, so that we could prepare to pass the safety inspection at the end. Once the pool was finished, Nate explained all of the stuff we'd need to do to maintain our pool, showing us how to run the pump and equipment and how to test the water and adjust it as necessary. When, a couple of weeks in, our auto-filler started mis-behaving, he was immediately responsive, and helped us to get it back into good working order. I can't say enough good things about Nate and Saturn Pools. Pool design was exactly what we wanted. Was done on time and with the highest quality. Even the Inspector noted the quality of the steel and the jobsite during his pre-gunite inspection. Nate is the owner. All his subs have worked with him for a long time. He pays attention to detail. Example: during the layout for the concrete, Nate noted the concrete guys were a few inches off of square on one of their lines. Over the length of the pool it was not very noticeable.
