I came in without an appointment today for passport photos on a weekday and was seen very quickly. It was less than a 10 minute wait and then less than 10 minutes to take the photo and have it printed. Service was great and great to get an AAA member discount on the price. This AAA location has plenty of parking and is in the same complex as may other shops, not far after the Alameda - Oakland tunnel. If I need anything else in person or from a branch, I will definitely be back here. read more

Best place to get dmv items done. Very friendly staff and wait time is less than 5 minutes for dmv services. They finally put in new card readers so now you can enter pin number that is more than 6 digits. I think the dmv portion of their services is totally worth the annual membership. read more

Quality/Quantity - We do all our CA DMV services here when possible. So much easier than the "public" DMV. When it comes to the DMV, our expectations are very low. It helps prepare me for the day. The last visit for a different car was a failed visit. But today, after only 1.5 hours, we were able to bring a car back to CA. Due to our extensive travels, I leave a few cars in both states that we frequent. Atmosphere - Beautiful location, still looks new even after 15+ years. Good size, well staged, etc. Service - Slow start but we got our car registered in CA! Not sure if everything they told us was 100% correct, but we followed their directions and got our new plates and registration. And NO fault of AAA, but the DMV forms and instructions are just NOT clear. After what felt like redoing the application 10 times, we finally got it correct... Texted me my appointment. Texted me a reminder the day before. Texted me this morning. Texted me when it was my turn in line. Glad I have unlimited minutes, LOL. Oh, bring back the complimentary coffee please. Price - $220 versus $150 if we kept the car in NV. $50 smog (versus $25 in NV). Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since the 1900's and at this location for the last 15+ years. read more

Fast, efficient, friendly service. Everything the DMV is not. This is why I am a AAA member. I came in to get my deceased father's car transferred to my name. Navigating the DMV site was challenging. You have to fill out form, a, b, and e, etc., write a check, drop it in the mail and hope you done it correctly. Or take a day off to go to the DMV to get it done. I decided to get this done by AAA. I was greeted by the receptionist, she gave me the forms to fill out. I sat down and started to fill then out. I was helped by Marco and Maritza, both were very knowledgeable on which forms are needed. As someone who has no idea where to even start, they made the process easy for me. Fast friendly service. Great place to do DMV title transfers or registration. Already did a couple title transfers here over the past couple years - so nice not to have to go to the DMV and wait an hour or two. Recently I had so much trouble with the DMV kiosk at the local Safeway I even went here for that. I had done the smog the day before but it didn't show up - maybe because it was on a weekend or maybe because the smog technician was slow or maybe because the machine was doing updates... I could speculate all day or just come here and get it over with fast. The people working here are great. Perfect service always. Same as the the older Hayward branch. This place is super new and space age. Hayward probably will look more like this one soon. I think its a great idea to get the plan for peace of mind should anything happen on the road and for the DMV services. I've had now one car without a spare and if you have a new car - especially hybrid or electric - you might want to check and see if your lack of a spare tire can be remedied by an AAA plan. read more

Went for the DMV services and received none. The front desk staff act appalled that your checking in for your scheduled appointment and dare to converse with them. The DMV staff does their best to not have to do their job. They refused to file a few extra forms for a title transfer and also questioned my license plate number and asked if it was real. Save your time and just go over the bridge to one of Oakland's many helpful DMV services. read more

I've had to come here to get my car registration renewal twice and each time has been a great experience. From the moment I check in with the front desk, I will wait maybe no more than 10 mins before a worker calls me up. The inside is nice and clean and there are chairs for you to sit and wait. All or the workers who has helped me have been super helpful and nice. Service has been 10/10 so far. I would continue to come here when I need to. read more

I was going to renew my registration via the DMV app and found that they wanted to charge approximately $79 in additional fees to do it! I then remembered that I should just go to AAA in Alameda! I can't imagine why I would ever go to DMV again The wonderful staff were very friendly, extremely efficient and took care of me so quick I was home in plenty of time to eat lunch and go back to work. I thought I would be there for a long time since I made the appt at 12:20, but I got there a bit early and was out and done in 8 minutes. I've had AAA for 22+ years it came as part of the "Help me Jesus my daughter turned 16 and can drive now" family plan. I've been stranded in the worst spots during the worst weather and am so glad that AAA was there to help me. I'm happy with AAA and mostly used for towing and emergency road side service. Anyway with regard to this location I've only ever been here once and it was 3/2021, during the pandemic. Very clear signs, markings on the floor, and hand sanitizers everywhere. From the greeter to the staff who helped me everyone was nice. I had to get a new registration sticker and card bc it never arrived and I will never ever step foot into a DMV if I don't have to. AAA for DMV services is a lifesaver. It took me 5 minutes and no stress at all. My dad and I went to AAA this past Saturday to get clarification on our updated insurance policy. Agent Khanh Nguyen is by far the most unprofessional AAA agent we have encountered in the past 17 years of working with AAA. After editing the policy online, we asked her why our statement showed a $1600 due while the new policy was only $1200 when we checked online. Her response was, "$1600 is the total," and no future explanations were provided. We had to keep probing her with more questions to get a clearer answer finally. We then asked her about how to get the matured driver discount, and she told us to Google it or go to the nearest senior center. On top of her lack of knowledge of AAA's discount resources, her attitude was worse. The entire time we talked to her, she was busy typing on her computer and drinking coffee. Minimal eye contact was made during our conversations, and when eye contact was made, it was filled with eye-rolling. She made it obvious that she didn't welcome us to talk to her, so we were bothering her. After we came home, I searched for her name on Yelp review and was not surprised that we were not the only ones with similar experiences. I will continue to escalate this, and I hope more people will see this and avoid this agent if AAA decides to continue to hire her. We are members who pay agents like Khanh Nguyen to provide services for us and not the other way around. We don't expect her always to smile, but we do ask for basic professionalism from an insurance agent. There are great insurance agents within AAA, but Khanh Nguyen is certainly not one of them. read more

Easy, quick and convenient. I highly encourage y'all to go here instead of the DMV for all your car needs!! I need to transfer the title of my car and get new plates. After a bit of paperwork, making sure I had my smog check in order, and a signature here and there (and fees), I was ready to go! They even had license plates right in their drawer ready for me to pop on my car once everything was sorted. I love being a customer of AAA. They make matters so easy and straightforward and almost enjoyable to get through! Honestly, long as you have your stuff in order, know what you need to do, you can walk right in and be fine. My annual review of this AAA branch, semi-post pandemic era. No need to wear mask. Everyone here is super friendly, still no coffee while waiting but the wait time is only a few minutes. My DMV car registration renewal now cost an extra credit card process charge for handling. To waive the fees, cash or debit card must be used. Surprise!! The DMV Kiosk at Southshore charges way more for CC payment so AAA is still the better choice, unless you mail in the payment and expect the tag to arrive in 2-3 weeks. Street parking is easy and available. I will be back in a few months for my second DMV registration. read more

This place is an absolute joke! Employees really need to be properly trained here! I sold a vehicle to a buyer. It was sold with a clean lien-free California title, and two DMV issued 262 bill of sale forms. Paperwork was presented by the buyer and they refused to register it! No explanation whatsoever other than it looked suspicious! Complete idiots! Paper trail and paperwork is 100% correct. I now have to spend time to get it done at the real DMV with the exact same paperwork. Do yourself a favor and cancel your AAA membership. They are absolutely useless and ill-informed. read more
