Over the last few years I have moved more times than anyone should with the bulk of items ending up in two places - at my house that I own with my ex-husband and at the apartment that I moved into with my current boyfriend. I swore up and down that I would never move again because it's a pain in the rear, but after living with the boyfriend over a year we decided to upgrade our place and get the rest of my furniture and belongings away from the ex. It seemed like a logistical nightmare and I was having flashbacks to my last BIG move (into the house) where U-haul messed up our truck rental and it took twice as many trips with a smaller truck on a 95-degree day in July. Never again. After much Googling and Yelping I came across A-Plus and with a Yelp coupon deal to boot, I decided to give them a call. Customer service was awesome and answered the mile long list of questions I had. I was nervous because I'd never been professionally moved before and I'm obsessed and possessive about my mid-century furniture collection. Also, needing to move things from two locations to one, seemed crazy, but I'm almost speechless about how easy the process was. After years of moving heavy items back and forth, to have people do that FOR you and PROPERLY without so much as a scratch on your over-priced reclaimed wood dining table, well people, let me tell you, I felt like a princess for a day. Never again will I attempt to move myself. This took less than half the time that it would have if we'd done it ourselves and I thought the grand total was very reasonable. Considering the multiple trips we would have had to make, it would have taken us a few days and many bribed family members instead of the afternoon it took the guys at A-Plus to do it. And our DIY costs wouldn't have been that big of a difference when you looks at all the benefits of having someone else do the work for you. So, all in all, A-Plus was superb. Moving is stressful no matter where you are and what you are moving - but moving within a city, especially one like Boston, is a nightmare. The narrow streets, the multiple flights of stairs, and forget about finding a place to park while you are moving. Thank goodness these guys were professionals, because I would not have wanted to do it myself. We moved from a first floor apartment by Northeastern to a third floor apartment - nothing was damaged, everyone was on time, and best of all, I didn't have to throw out my back or make my friends take a weekend to help me move. You go with this moving company and you will regret it. We used them in 2019 and the did multiple damages on our personal stuff. we got several broken furniture at the end of the move. our dining table chair, our portable cooler and few more were all broken and damaged. not only that, their staff were extremely unprofessional. One of their staff even pushed my senior father during the move yelling at him to not watch them while they are moving our boxes. They were extremely slow to a point we thought they might be hungry and we got free lunch for them. at the end they charged us much more than the quote because the move took longer than the estimate since their staff were so slow. I posted our negative review to Yelp and reported about the damages and complained about their unprofessional behavior, they (Mike Aileni) called us and promised they would give us discount in the next move (Mike Aileni sent the email with discount info) and asked if with that we would remove the negative Yelp Review. We even had email with their promise for the discount. and yes, with that promise, we removed our negative yelp review back then!!! recently, when we called to see if we can get their discount (we spoke with the same person whose name was on the email) for our current move, they (Mike Aileni) completely denied it and told us the email granting us the discount was a mistake. Making the reservations was a breeze and the gentleman I spoke with each time was very helpful in making sure my moving day was going to be as stress-free as possible. My husband and I got a recommendation from his brother to use these guys. He just moved from the North End to Charlestown, and said these guys worked quickly! Well, he was right! We moved from Cambridge to Dedham last weekend. Three movers showed up on time. They went over our names, new address and did a quick walk through to see our items we had to move. They packed our two bedroom apartment in about and hour and a half (including half a garage too) They found the new place just fine,and unpacked our items. They listened and asked when they didn't know where any of the items should go. We suggest to pay in cash to get a bit of a discount. A-Plus was able to accommodate a somewhat last minute request to move 1-bedroom Boston to Portland, Maine. The price quoted was in line with others but they were the only ones available on a Saturday and there were three movers and a big truck. Communication was great - personable and professional, from initial contact to confirmation call. The movers arrived on time in the North End and maneuvered a parking space where the wasn't one -- so I didn't have to get anyone towed and feel guilty. The furniture/box moving went very smoothly -- fast but not hurried -- and even included getting a cat in a carrier (I just... couldn't.. do it). There was one accident that broke my not-so-new flat-screen TV but fair compensation was swift. And the actual moving price came in way under the quote, so that was a nice surprise (they work that fast and efficiently!) I would definitely recommend A-Plus. read more

My landlord informed me a week ago that she is selling the house and that I would have 60 days to find myself a new place. After several hours of online browsing within 4 days I found a unique apartment that I felt in love with and an awesome price, the only thing it had somebody else interested in it, in order to get the apartment I needed to move April 1, witch wasn't a big deal, the deal was that I had 1 day to find a moving company. A friend of mine referred me them, telling me how awesome and fast they moved him. I picked up the phone talked with them, the person that answered was very professional I explained him over the phone he gave me a free estimate quote of how long was going to take. Long story short the next day three guys came in, they were on time, wrapped up all my furniture, packed up all my stuff, got me out of the house with all the furniture and lots of boxes less than 3 hours and got to my new place in no-time after about another hour they unwrapped everything and set everything just like I wanted. These guys were great, they showed up early in the window they gave us and immediately set to work. Everything was wrapped up well and protected before they brought it to the truck. They were able to pack everything in we needed without a single problem. We had a giant couch that was almost impossible but they were able to get it down from a second story apartment without any trouble. No scratches or dents in the furniture or apartment during the entire process. They got to the new location without problem and quickly unloaded everything where we told them to, and did it fast. Long story short. One week prior to our big move, we found ourselves without a moving solution because our landlords would't let us get a pod. Therefor at the end of the month finding a moving company that is available was hard. We called A+ movers and they could do Monday afternoon, store our stuff for 2 weeks, and then move it into our new home. This was my first time hiring professional movers for a very dreaded move, and now I know what I've been missing all these years. All the credit for the 5-star-worthy effort goes to the actual moving crew (Randall, P, and James) for being professional, quick, and having great attitudes during what was a frustrating day for all of us. I scheduled my move with A-Plus well in advance, and all was set and good to go. Moving is stressful anyway, but a major unexpected delay occurred the day-of threw us completely off schedule. It was 100% out of the control of the crew, and while I was in touch with the main office the entire time, I wasn't very happy with the level of customer service I received on those calls. Not so much as an apology from CJ, who I gathered was a manager of some sort, though he did offer a small discount for the inconvenience. Anyway, the 5 stars is because the crew more than made up for it by being so friendly and incredibly efficient. I was impressed with how they handled my larger furniture, which I thought was going to be a huge hassle for them. They handled everything with such care, as if it was their own stuff. I knew they were tired, hungry, and frustrated from the day they'd had, but they never once complained. They were so focused on making up the time we'd lost that they skipped lunch. I forced them into letting me get them some food so they could refuel, and they whizzed through unloading all my stuff even faster than they got it out of my old place. The next day, I spoke to CJ again and made sure he knew it was because of his crew and his crew alone that I was left with a positive impression of this company. I moved from the city to the suburbs with A+ and I was very happy with the service. The movers showed up at the beginning of the window in which they said they would and they efficiently packed all my things. Nothing was scratched or broken during the move and they put all items in whatever room you asked for. They will ask you if you want plastic wrap which costs extra, but I it provided good protection for my couch. Their customer service is great as well so I definitely recommend them. read more

Moving into an apartment for school was very stressful with just my parents and I. The furniture was heavy and multiple trips were needed because there was just so much stuff. Glad I picked to today to review A Plus moving and my last move with them, they have a yelp deal with only a few left that is good for a year! and in 9 more months I will be using them again for my next move FOR SURE! okay, so picture this...I work in the restaurant industry and I work 50+ hours a week, boyfriend is in the same boat so moving is really a pain in the you know what. Instead of paying (and begging and pleading) friends to help and dragging the process out I looked online, called so many places and finally found these guys to help me move from the suburbs right outside the city to our new place in Boston. The price was right in our budget and after finally getting the boyfriend to agree I called and set it up. The guys who showed up were friendly and fast, they wrapped things quickly and it were not sloppy about it! I know because I was hovering around some of my valuables to make sure they didn't get smashed (luckily they didn't mind and I relaxed once I saw that these guys knew what they were doing!) Last year I felt extremely lazy. I didn't really feel like picking up a Uhaul, cramming my stuff into this tiny truck, and drive this thing from Bedford to Allston. It just wasn't going to happen. And so I looked around for movers that can give me a good deal. I shopped around 5 and as I was about to settle on the cheapest option, one of my buddies recommended I call A-Plus, saying he used it for a move and they did a terrific job. And I am really glad I did. The quote I got was the most affordable to my surprise. A-plus helped us with a local move in Watertown. Johnny, Charlie, and Nick were great. They moved us in/out quickly. They were too fast actually and ended up causing a slight damage to our paint. But, they followed up and compensated for the damage. Overall, they were careful about wrapping our flat-screen tv and other fragile items. A-Plus quoted me 100 an hour for 3 guys. They were ONE THIRD the price of Gentle Giant. Pro: The crew kept an amazing speed throughout the hot day! I was really impressed with the actual movers. These guys were pro, wrapping all my stuff, keeping good spirits, and keeping in constant communication with me, doing exactly what I asked them to do. Con: They pulled some crap during the move by sending a FOURTH guy and telling me I owed them 115 an hour for his service (which I did not request). The reason that they sent him was because they booked another job in the afternoon and were concerned that they didn't have enough time. Result: The fourth guy did save time on the move, saving me cash in the end, so I ended up paying for him. I did NOT appreciate the billing office calling me repeatedly throughout the day trying to convince me to pay for the man I did not ask for, and that I told to go home because I did not want him. My apartment had recently burned down. One of my family member's in Boston, was contacted by my family letting them know about my situation. They happen to have a storage full of furniture that had not been used in some time. But only because they previously owned two properties and now only lived in one. There was not enough room for all their belongings, thus it being locked away in a storage room, collecting dust. They offered to help me in anyway they could when they heard. Offering anything in storage I could take off their hands. The problem I saw with that, was how would I move it all the way to Texas? Especially with my situation there would be no way to afford this trip, or move it, period. They made the whole process easy. They said since they had moved soo many times, they had a company who they used and trusted. Since I knew they had moved around quite a bit, i figured they knew what they were talking about. They set the whole thing up for me. I was so thankful and a great relief was lifted, not to mention their tremendous generosity!! The movers were on their way and I was given an estimated arrival time. The movers called me 30 minutes before expected arrival time to let me know they were going to arrive 20 minutes earlier than expected. I really appreciated the phone call, and I grew excited knowing they would be here any minute. I would soon within a few hours have a home full of furnishings. When the movers arrived, they were professional, yet very friendly. They started to unload item after item. Big furniture that I had no idea could fit thru my doorways. They did this very efficiently and had great execution unloading and quick as well! Everything was packed neatly and carefully in the truck it was surprising to see soo many items packed in the truck and imagining them fitting into my new home. They unpacked it just the same, treating the belonging as if they were their own. I knew my new belongings were in good hands. Whoohoo! As good as it gets! They deserve it! My boy friend and I are world travelers because of his occupation and we literally live from our suitcases to storage units. Crazy I know! Moving is not fun, but these guys at least made it easy. I was moving ~15 boxes, a large bedroom set, a large painting and mirror, and a few other smaller pieces of furniture from Back Bay to a storage room in Brighton. I did a pretty thorough Yelp review hunt before choosing these guys, and they didn't let me down (as always, thanks Yelp!). A-Plus movers were communicative in advance of the move, showed up when they said they would, and were very careful with my stuff. Everything that needed it was well-wrapped. The lead mover on my job (I forgot his name, sorry!) was a very intelligent, well-spoken guy who barely even flinched when he cut his hand on the storage room lock. (Don't worry, I got him bandages!) I'm a real stickler when it comes to 5 star reviews, so my one missing star reflects a few (minor) areas where they could have improved. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that I just have far too much stuff (true), but the move time did end up being well over the estimate. They'd estimated 3 hours including travel; we ended at 4.5. I've had previous movers who literally ran around with my stuff; that wasn't them. The flip side of that is that they were way more careful than movers who were running around. They also left a bunch of screws behind when taking apart my bed. The catch was the apt I was living in my parents and I has been living in for over twenty years so you can imagine how much crap had been accumulated over the years. I looked on Yelp and decided to go with A plus moving because of all the great reviews. We moved today and I can say that even though moving is stressful these guys did a great, fast job. Four guys came to do what I think was a tough job with all the things that we had. They moved fast, took apart a huge and heavy bedroom set like experts, and they were friendly and funny as well so they made the whole process easy. The price was great as well we had budgeted $1000 for the move but came out to less than $800. We bought them lunch and gave them great tips as it was well deserved. A-Plus lives up to its name! This was my first time using a moving service so I went overboard with the research, checked out about 5-6 other moving companies in the Boston/Cambridge area. I liked A-Plus after reading the Yelp reviews, but I REALLY liked them after the super-prompt and courteous customer service on the phone. Even though I booked them on a Monday for a move on Wednesday (yeah, 2 days notice) they were extremely enthusiastic and reassuring that they'd find a way to accommodate me. They also give a 10% discount if you pay with cash. The three movers -- Emmet, and I believe Nikolai and Steven -- were friendly and really quick. From the moment they arrived they were on the job, and cheerful and upbeat the whole time. It was 95 degrees that day and these guys worked hard. They just helped me move from a 4th floor walk up apartment in Beacon Hill. The three men were all very hard workers, polite, and efficient. They did a great job and at a bargain rate compared to all the other places I called. After the move I noticed a number of small nicks on various furniture - some of which may have been there before but some that I know were from the move - That's the main reason I'm not giving them a 5 review.
