When I arrived to the shop I met Sabine, and hit her with a bunch of questions. I felt like I must've been overwhelming to her, but she was calm and gave me a lot of recommendations for design and proper sizing; I had never ordered a custom cake. After ordering the cake Sabine had asked me to leave my email for further contact. I sent her an email with other recommendations for the design and she started to work on the cake immediately. I had left town and was in jeopardy of not making it in time to pick the cake up and even then she was fully accommodating, working with me to try to find out what would work best for my timing. Sabine was incredibly responsive! Long story short (lol) I did make it back in time to pick up the cake-and it looked AMAZING! It was the proper size, had my GF's Nail Salon logo on it and she had it packagein the most perfectly shaped box for transportation. We wanted a very unusual flavor combination for our wedding cake, and we could not find any other baker who could execute it, but we would have chosen to work with A Love For Cakes regardless. Sabine was so patient, explanatory, and conscientious throughout the process. She instinctively understood the style that we were looking for, and we felt completely comfortable trusting her judgment. We immediately understood that she truly cared about us instead of trying to push a sale. The cake that she executed was elegant, beautiful, and so delicious and moist - exactly what we wanted. The strawberry buttercream was unique in that it captured the flavor of real fresh strawberries, and our matcha sponge cake had a perfect flavor. We made our own cake toppers, and Sabine took great care to preserve and present them exactly in accordance with our wishes. Our guests continuously complimented us, and we even ended up ordering extra servings for the sole purpose of taking them home so that we could keep eating it even after the wedding! We also ordered extra servings so that our wedding staff could try it, and they all loved it as well. Where do I start with Sabine? She deserves 10 stars. I found her while searching for cake decorators for my twins 1st birthday (I believe her Pinterest page came up, she has a lot of her work on there). I emailed a few people, but she sounded like she truly understood what I wanted, and she sounded so professional in both decorating cakes, and the actual flavors. I don't know what was better- the fact that the cakes were BEAUTIFUL and just what I pictured, or the taste!! I've never had a better tasting cake, especially not the pretty types. All the effort is usually put into how the cake looks, not how the cake taste. But not with Sabine. I have told so many people about her work and already ordered a specialized cake for my moms birthday. I can't wait for more events so I can enjoy more of her amazing talent! We will be forever grateful for the custom cake we ordered from "A Love for Cakes". It was for our 2 year old son's birthday and it was in the form of Noah's Ark which turned out to be a perfect master piece!!! It made our day extra special as we skimped out on his 1st birthday. We ordered our wedding cake from A Love For Cakes, in early June this year. Sabine was very attentive and helpful in her suggestions when we first met with her to discuss our order. I really appreciated the quality of her work, especially the attention to detail that she paid with regards to a specific decorative feature I had specially requested to be added to the cake. We ordered a two tier cake; one was a lemon poppyseed cake with white ganache filling and cream cheese frosting and the other was a chocolate sponge with chocolate ganache filling and chocolate buttercream frosting. Both of the cakes were moist and flavorful and tasted great. I also appreciated that the sugar paste was not too thick, and therefore not cloyingly sweet. I found A Love For Cakes from online reviews and I must say I am so thrilled that I listened to the reviews and checked it out for my bridal shower cake! I sent an email and received a reply right away! Sabine was very professional and accommodating! She offered a free cake testing... It was so hard to decide which flavors to choose that I had 3 different flavors for each tier. The chocolate with raspberry mousse was so delicious!! I have to say , I bake a little so I'm a huge cake critic, I went to Sabine with few pics of my sons DJ equipment , I was blown away at how she was able to duplicate it with such precision, then the big question was does it taste as good as it looks well it was absolutely delicious! The cake was moist and the fondant wasn't overly sweet. Incredible place. I reached out to over a dozen cakemakers for a special occasion and A Love For Cakes was not only the fastest to respond, but by far the most reasonably priced and accommodating. The cake they delivered was astonishingly delicious (which is not always the case when it comes to specialty-shaped cakes!) and all the guests raved about it and took photos all night long.
