This was the first place that popped up on my phone for breakfast near me. I'm visiting family for the weekend and found this beautiful place. Betty is an amazing resilient woman of God. She offered us a handshake or a hug we both opted for the hug. She wasn't over zealous or preachy. She shared and asked to pray after we finished eating. Breakfast was delicious (Biscuits and Gravy and Sausage Corssaint With Hashbrowns). Lots of tea options as well. Don't go in judging. These people are sweet and kind. The atmosphere is pleasant. The reasons I chose this restaurant was for the vegan option and the lion imagery. Lol. So when I arrived I was seated immediately and it went downhill from there. The service was slow and also my order for my food was in accurate. It also did not taste good. It was very bland. And I waited a long time although the restaurant was not busy. The owner was very busy telling her life story and evangelizing. This takes me back to the lion, it was a biblical reference and so is the name of the business. Which is all fine as long as the food is good. It's a small diner with nice people who have not prioritized the reason people go to a restaurant which is for food. Feed me well, and then maybe the rest will be ok. She did offer a prayer and it was good, just not the food or service. read more

This lady is building community. That being said- it's probably too much for me. As soon as we got there the owner of the cafe told us her life story -which included a whole part involving teenage prostitution. She obviously feels very mission focused which is commendable but maybe a bit much for everyone. We just wanted some eggs for breakfast. The food was tasty though. Coffee not that great but the breakfast itself was good. Our trip here ended with a full on prayer circle. The owner gathered everyone up and basically forced us to participate in the prayer circle. I believe in prayer but the whole thing made me itchy to leave. read more

Betty is a beautiful Christian lady. Lots of room inside with a cozy, friendly atmosphere. The menu is limited and a little pricey for the portions but definitely delicious. Love how they have kambucha and healthy option on their menu! We need more Christian restaurants in Fort Wayne. read more

The good is the purpose of the place, giving those struggling a chance to get back on track. Food was mid at best. Service you could tell the workers were somewhat new and they were doing the best. If you don't have patience and understanding this place isn't for you. Chill environment on the inside with soft music playing. Not what we expected. The food here is delicious! We had the burger and loved it. But we were pretty quickly dissatisfied with the service for a number of reasons... 1. The owner is very preachy ... to the point of feeling overbearing. Side note: We bought a Chinese I-Ching oracle card game at Barnes & Noble before coming and thought it would be fun to learn this divination set at "A Divine Encounter Cafe" and it seemed to grab the attention of all the workers enough for them to go around to every table and offer a prayer circle in the middle of the cafe. Coincidence, maybe? We didn't join... not because we don't pray (we do, in our sacred spaces such as home or church or in our hearts - not in a restaurant) but because we were eating. 2. Our food was served just before the prayer circle started so we couldn't actually get what we wanted before we lost the ability to be served for a good amount of time. I wanted condiments on my burger like Mayo/mustard/ketchup but I didn't bother asking because it was impossible to get anyone's attention as they were all socializing/praying. Also, the fruit wasn't fresh - the watermelon was soft and soggy. They did offer to give me bananas and blueberries to make up for it at the end but honestly I was done eating and it would have been nice to have everything addressed before the big distraction. 3. The owner has an incredible story, it's impossible to not hear her conversion story while they're in a prayer circle but she insisted on coming to our table and addressing our divination set while retelling her story to us. She didn't address the table behind us who didn't participate in the prayer circle. Because of that we felt like she was being judgy/preachy and it didn't feel like we were at any restaurant - we were at her place of worship where she doesn't let anything that isn't approved by her beliefs go unnoticed. I will be retuning because the food is quite delicious. But maybe for takeout only. :) read more

This is a tough place to review. Tried the restaurant out for breakfast and didn't read reviews as I was too thrilled they had vegan options. Cute place, with a lot of random clutter on tables near window counter. Presumably it was the owner who came and apologized it was taking so long to order and get food for reasons I won't repeat (staff health issues and staff personal issues among them). A bit "gossipy" but appreciated knowing it was going to be a bit. The folks working were very kind. 4 stars for communication and being nice. 3 stars for the inside- the table piled up of random papers books etc., belong in an office or at home, not in a restaurant. Maybe 6/8 other tables in restaurant at the time. Took a while to get refills, and then maybe 4 pieces of ice in the soda. Ok. Food was ok. The breakfast potatoes were let's say interesting. 3.5 stars for food. Prices were high compared to other local restaurants given the portion sizes etc. Almost 40 for breakfast for 2 with mediocre food is too high. Now here is the hard part. Before we got our check the server comes over and says we pray here is there anything we can pray for you about. Nearing the verge of a cardiac event over this peculiar offer at a RESTAURANT my husband had to awkwardly reply as I almost vanished in thin air. It's America, we have freedoms. I totally respect a business owner incorporating their beliefs into their business. However, it would be nice if it was posted on the door or on their online menus that they will ask to pray for you. People go to a restaurant for food, and great if they want prayer, but not everyone wishes to have awkwardness because of this. Had I read reviews, I would have known that, and chosen to go elsewhere. There's a time and place for things and pushing even offering religion while someone is only there to eat is incredibly odd. If that's your jam, you'll probably really enjoy the place. If it's not, hopefully this review helps you choose carry out or a different place. read more

I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. The food was delicious and tasted homemade. I had biscuits and gravy, a hazelnut latte, and apple pie. Betty came over and chatted with me. She treats her customers like her friends. The store is clean and a nice place to relax. I didn't feel rushed or like I was imposing taking my time. To top it off, the prices are very good! This cafe was recommended to us because a friend knew we seek very healthy options. This new cafe did not disappoint! We had the Mediterranean Quinoa bowl and the Mexican Quinoa bowl, plus the Thanksgiving kombucha, delicious coffee and homemade gingerbread for dessert. Everything was so good! The service was excellent, and the owner, who came out to speak with us was a delight as well. I am a vegetarian and was stoked to find they had a variety of healthy options! I ordered the Tofu Time and was blown away!!!! I ordered the divine skillet and a cup of creamy hot chocolate. I liked that the beverage came in a nice sized cup. Personally, I expected something over the top after being told that the chocolate was a "higher quality " chocolate. It was ok. The eggs which came with the dish were prepared to my liking. The tofu scramble is fantastic. The atmosphere is comforting. The owner brings a special atmosphere and love of people to the restaurant !

This place is so amazing the owner of the place Betty is legit a gift from God. The food she makes is always from her heart and love, she always check on her customers which is very good customer service, and if theirs a wait or delay on food she apologizes profusely and offers to make a new dish, which is amazing, I have been here multiple times and would always order a kombucha or a water and either an eggs Benedict, shrimp and grits or the glory skillet. Every time I come here food is amazing as always. Hopefully they update the menu and add seasonal or limited time dishes. read more
