Wow, what a gem this place is! This was our first time and we came on a Saturday about 12:15 pm. They serve just breakfast and lunch and everything on the menu is original and different. I got the "pick 3" for lunch (they have a whole board filled with soups, salads, casseroles and sandwiches/wraps to pick from) I got the tomato basil soup, cucumber salad and portabella sandwich. The soup was hands down the best tomato basil soup I've ever had (and I've tried plenty). The cucumber salad reminded me of the cucumber salad my grandmother made when I was a kid, perfect - not too sweet and not too vinegary. Now the sandwich was something special, I 've never had a portebello sandwich before and this one came with spinach and some kind of flavored cream cheese and then the grilled portebello mushroom. Then they grilled the sandwich. It was hands down delicious and filling. The meal also came with a piece of fresh banana and cantaloupe and of course, sliced pickles. My husband had the lobster eggs Benny. It was lobster salad on a soft biscuit with scrambled eggs and hollandaise sauce on top and tomatoes slices. A very different take on eggs Benedict but he really enjoyed it and gobbled it all up. His came with an orange slice and a cantaloupe slice and pickles. We are so glad we found this place. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing and interesting! (We got to dine with a velvet painting of Elvis!) I try to go here as often as I can. Everything is homemade. And the staff is just awesome. They're only open for breakfast and lunch. But that doesn't matter. Everything that ive had here be it breakfast or lunch has been absolutely amazing. In fact my daughter and I were just there last week. She loves the place as much as I do. Wow! Found a great place for lunch! Just down the street from my new house in Fort Wayne Indiana I saw a sign for Pickles Cafe. What a find. Everything on the menu is healthy and organic. Three of us stopped for lunch today. Located in a old wooden building which includes an antique store and a small Cafe in the back you can have lunch Monday to Friday and breakfast on Saturday. We browsed the antiques while waiting, as the dining room was loaded with locals. When we were seated we ordered a steak salad with black berries and a hand made black sweet bread, a white chicken chili with roasted cabbage and a ham and goat cheese panini....delicious! My wife loved her Italian soup and a healthy salad with berries and melon. A good time was had by all!! We will return often! read more

You can get an awesome sandwich or delicious salad. All sandwiches and salad come with a side of fruit and a couple of homemade pickles. They also have daily specials that change daily and are not in the menu. I asked them where the name pickles came from and they had this to say, "The initial idea was "the veggie patch" but we were afraid people would think we are health food. We love our gardens and to incorporate them into our cooking but we also love cheese, sauces, heavy desserts so one day one of the bosses was out for a bike ride and passed a garden filled with cucumbers giving her the idea to name us Pickles. Everything we serve comes with a garnish of pickles normally bread and butter but sometimes dill or a variety marinated cucumbers. We found this listed as a 4 star on yelp. I think it deserves another 1/2 star. We got there at 10:45 and they said we could have breakfast or lunch. We opted for lunch. They had quite a few specials to choose from but we decided to order off the menu. My son got the steak tip sandwich with sautéed onions and provolone cheese on toasted bread. He said it was delicious. I got the chicken salad on gluten free bread which was also toasted. The gluten free bread was smaller and our waitress apologized for this. I'm used to the size though. both sandwiches came with fruit an chips. I had the plum iced tea and it was very good. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The seats look like they were bought at auctions or garage sales, but they were very comfortable. We will definitely go back. read more

This place is adorable! I found it through word of mouth since they have very little social media or advertising presence. I try to stop in when I am traveling through Fort Wayne because I love the quaint atmosphere and patio dining that make me feel like I am really getting away for an afternoon. Interior looks like a mix from a bunch of country garage sales. Menu is pretty standard cafe fare with sandwich, soup, and salad options. I'm a fan of the Cheese Louise and the Raging Bull sandwich. Every dish comes with little sides that always include pickles! Homemade desserts are amazing! Chocolate peanut butter pie is a favorite! I think quality could be slightly better, but the place is so charming that I will continue to return. read more

Pickles Cafe is a unique experience. Out in the county and a bit of a hidden gem. With as small of seating area it needs to stay that way - so don't ever come to this horrible place with terrible food..... Cute clutter designed place with your grandmas table cloths, mix matched plates and coffee mugs, and a hodge podge of different tables and chairs. It looks so unintentional that it might actually be. I've been there a few times, always Saturday brunch. I've never tried there lunch menu because the breakfast is amazing. Now that I recall, I've only ever eaten the Hot Mess Hash browns. But that's because it's totally amazing. No, I've also had pie. Pie that made me want to roll around in it naked it was so good. Hum, I wander if they sell that pie in bulk sizes..... So the Hot Mess is a lovely combination of ham, onions, hash browns, eggs, horseradish, and all topped with sausage gravy. I honestly believe you can top most breakfast foods with sausage gravy and it's makes anything better. The food comes in a perfect size that you finish it feeling full and not have to take it home so it sits in your fridge for a week before you toss it out. read more

Been coming here for years and figure its time to give them the Yelp review they deserve...Pickles is an off the beaten path cafe located in an old General Store that delivers no BS homemade dishes that taste incredible. They have a menu full of great sandwiches, soups, etc...but are always switching things up with creative lunch specials and deserts. The staff is super friendly, attentive and personable. The ambiance is quaint with country/farm vibe. The chef is experience and knows what she's doing. I personally love their chicken salad sandwich...possibly the best chicken salad sandwich i've ever had. Highly recommended. They do a Saturday morning breakfast/brunch that I've heard is wonderful (have not had yet) *Be sure to get there a bit early as the secret's out on this place so lunch can get a bit crowded with a wait, however a wait isn't all that bad as it gives you time to wonder around the general store which is full of old school candies, farm fresh eggs, and a bunch of antiquey stuff. You can browse the general store and outdoors garden shop, if your party has to wait for a table. The restaurant itself is small, but was very charming, with vintage-looking table clothes and rustic furniture. We had about a 1/2 hour wait on a Saturday lunch visit, but the time seemed to move quickly. I ordered the garden vegetable sandwich with herbed cream cheese; it also contained spinach, avocado, cucumber and other veggies, on a tasty bread. I chose a side of fruit with potato chips, and a not-too-sweet lemonade. My dining partner ordered the turkey and artichoke panini, with chips & fruit. We both enjoyed our sandwiches; nothing extraordinary or too fancy here, just fresh and well-prepared. I highly recommend ordering whatever dessert item is available, or go all out and choose the dessert sampler tray. We shared a slightly warmed piece of oatmeal chocolate chip pie, which was marvelous. I really regret not sampling more desserts, but we were pretty full by the end of the meal. Most of the other menu items sounded like standard lunch-time deli offerings (sandwiches /soups/salads), but the kitchen seems to put extra care in the dishes it sends out and the ingredients taste very fresh. Service was friendly, but they seemed a bit overwhelmed during our busy, packed lunch hour. On Saturday mornings, they open earlier and serve omelettes and brunch. Pickles is seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but is a welcome, quaint stop when exploring the outer limits of Allen and Whitley counties. The wife and I had breakfast there today - she had been recently for a special Fort Wayne "foodie" event, and thought I'd like it... She was right! Specialties are 5 egg omelette and hash. I had the hash and she had biscuits and grave. Both were very tasty! The place is family owned and run, and you could tell. Everyone is super friendly and attentive. The front of the restaurant is a general store which sells little candies, jams, jellies, and meats raised on their own farm right there on the property, which keeps their prices low. Visited today for a girls lunch. The broccoli soup was very tasty and full of chunky vegetables but was only Luke warm. I was very much looking forward to the homemade banana bread but quickly learned it wasn't baked all the way through. . I've had breakfast here multiple times while in Columbia City and all the other times the food has been great. Today I got the Waffle and Sausage and Egg breakfast. Looked great when it came out. The waffles were prepackaged from Costco (I know this because I've eaten the same ones at home. Can't forget that crunch and waffle that tastes more like a cookie. They were good mind you but I can buy a whole box of them for half the price I paid for the meal) the eggs were good. But my sausage wasn't done all the way through. By far one the cutest, most quaint restaurants I've ever been to. The midwestern farmhouse charm of this little hole-in-the-wall eatery exceeds even the most middle American expectations. A sad disappointment. Of the 3 sandwiches we ordered, only one was edible - the smoked salmon panini. Not spectacular, but edible. The deluxe Brie Panini was nothing but 2 pieces of store bought wheat bread, barely toasted, with a small smattering of Brie, avocado and tomato and some jalapeño jam, as shown in the picture. The chicken panini was tasteless as the meat was thick and not seasoned. The mac and cheese and cauliflower soup were good, but not enough to feel we ate lunch. The plum tea was quite delicious, too! Service was fast and friendly. Brought the leftovers home and doctored up the chicken by slicing the big, dry chunks and making a stir fry out of it. $33 later, we came home to see if we could find leftovers in the refrigerator. read more

Where do I start? I love Pickles! The only thing that upsets me is that it is closed on Sundays! Every other day anything I tried from the pick 2 or pick 3 specials has been really amazing! Fresh ingredients and creative and ever changing menu! I love going there for lunch with my girlfriends but also for brunch with my family! It is in an old general store, it is one of the few authentic places in the area and I love to think it's my local precious secret.
