Very happy that my other dinner plans didn't work out last night and we ended up here at, A Ca Mia! Towards the end of the Cape May mall lies this little hidden gem. We made a quick reservation for 7:30 just a few hours before and had no problem with that. When we arrived we still had to wait about 15 minutes for a table inside. The inside is fairly tiny, but spacious enough. Our waiter was very nice and was handiling a lot of the tables so it took a bit for him to get us started with our meals. The menu is somewhat pricey. I did actually hear people complaining outside that their house salad was $12. Once I was able to look over the menu I saw the clam chowder was $10 which I actually thought was crazy too, but once I ordered it I understood why. It was overly filled with clams! So, so good. It was also a very light clam chowder and not overly heavy. It honestly was one of the bests I've ever had. My husband had the vegetable and he loved it too. For entrees my Dad and I went with the wild salmon. It came with a cold orzo salad and asparagus. The salmon was topped with onions and artichoke. The onions were very vinegary so that threw me a bit off guard, but was still good. Other items ordered were the spaghetti bolognese and the crab cake. Decided to have an early dinner before leaving Cape May. We all ordered from the prefix menu. Which was a choice of an appetizer, one entree, and a dessert. I started off with a salad, which was very good. Fresh mixed greens, walnuts, oranges, and goat cheese, very light and tasty. For my entree I enjoyed the trio ravioli (crab & lobster, cheese, and mushroom) the sauce was very light, not acidy or heavy. The dessert was a chocolate mousse cake, very rich and decadent. Honestly I think Cape May might be the hardest place to get a good meal out these days. So many places are suffering from lack of help they are closed on weekdays during peak season because they are so short staffed. However we were able to wrangle a table at Ca Mia on a Wednesday evening and we ate outside. We made reservations were promptly seated and the waitress took our order. The bread offered was two small dinner rolls but that's fine. I'm too fat and don't need all that bread. We ordered broccoli rabe pasta and sausage and linguine and white clam sauce. It was good. I can't say it was great but it wasn't bad. I'm used to the food we get up north Jersey near NYC where things have a bit more robust flavor. This was on the blandish side but I understand you need to appeal to a wide variety of palates and it's best to play it safe. Overall it was a pleasant meal. I would come back. We enjoyed a delicious meal and excellent service at A Ca Mia. It was prime time in a Saturday evening and many restaurants seem to struggle with staff especially at the beginning of the season. Never got to order our meals. The noise level was so unacceptable that we asked to change tables. We were offered no alternatives and had no choice but to leave. We explained what happened to 2 different people and we're basically ignored. We thought they should at least know we were leaving as we had made reservations days in advance. At least 2 tables by us were also visibility disturbed but had their meals already. Additionally, l have never paid extra for additional bread, really? To add 20 percent to your bill with 4 guests is upsetting. Incentive for good performance is eliminated when you're garenteed the automatic tip weather you've earned it on not. We went to A Ca Mia for dinner. We ate outside at then edge of the mall a d it was lovely. Nice atmosphere. Quiet and special. I would not have wanted to be inside - it seemed noisy and crowded. The outside atmosphere is what separated my review from a 3 to a 4. We had bruschetta appetizer which honestly was just average. The service was impeccable. It truly was a European type ambiance. We each had salads - the insalata with cheese mandarin orange and walnut. It had a refreshing subtly flavored champagne type dressing. Very fresh and nice. This is the most wonderful place. The food is divine, the service is friendly and attentive. My family has gone back to Cape May for eight years in a row now, and we never miss this place. My favorites are the grilled mushroom appetizer and the homemade lasagna which will blow away your opinion of all other lasagnas, guaranteed. They don't have a "liquor" licence. NJ law allows them to serve wine by the bottle, but if you don't want to do that, they'll pour for you anything that you bring yourself, so feel free to do so. They have an espresso machine and I'd recommend topping the evening off with their lovely desert list and a nice cappuccino. :) The restaurant is also connected to a great bakery, both of which are owned by the same people. You'll eat for two-thirds of what you'd pay in the DC Metropolitan area or any other major populous. Also, try their very reasonably priced lunches! read more

After a long travel day, my family and I decided to eat here. Big big big mistake. First day of a 4 day vacation and I got the worst food poisoning I've ever had in my life. I was bed ridden after throwing up 10 times. I had ordered the special. It was some kind of tortellini in a white sauce with prosciutto. The sauce was too thick and dry but I think the prosciutto being abnormally dry and chewy was probably what got me sick. And before anyone says, no I didn't eat anything else that day that would have caused my stomach to become THIS upset. CapeMay 2020. They are doing their best but it's a bit sad. Some places just couldn't adapt to the rules and closed for the year. Not sure why inside seating is banned if social distancing is practiced. It makes it a tough time to enjoy the fare. That said we were able to secure a date night reservation at A-CA-MIA on the Washington Street mall. We were early and were surprisingly accommodated, al be it right at the entrance. No worries! Our server was prompt, friendly and cheerfully popped our BYOB of Merlot. The portobello appetizer was set upon a perfect polenta perch topped with goat cheese and surrounded by seasoned greens and bruschetta. Excellent! A generous bowl-for-two of clam chowder followed. It missed the potatoes that are usually part of authentic New English chowder, but had a bit of cheese in the broth. The warm rolls were a perfect paring. My wife had a tortellini special that was served in a creamy alfredo sauce. Panchetta and peas accented the house made pasta stuffed with cheese. I opted for the Lasagne Bolognese. Layers of meat cheese and noodles. It was too much to finish either entree. We skipped dessert but with a patisserie attached to the restaurant I can only imagine what the offering was. No bar, and BYOB kept the tab well below expectations. I am sure experiences are skewed due to the pandemic but we were more than pleased with the dinner at A-CA-MIA. read more

I've never had a bad meal at A Ca Mia. For the first time my boyfriend and I visited A Ca Mia during the summer. Not only was it summer, it was Labor Day weekend! We were afraid about waiting even with our reservation but it was only about 5 extra minutes for a table. The front patio is tight but cozy in the summer. I was very surprised at the fast service even on this extremely busy holiday weekend. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes for our appetizers and our entrees came out shortly after that. It was a pleasant wait for chit chat and we weren't starving after the generously portioned bruschetta. The food is always delicious, I've never had one issue. There's a bakery next door that serves the coffees and desserts in house, but they have even more options if you're looking to take something home. Can't wait to come back as always! read more

There are so many better places to eat in the Cape May and Wildwood area especially Italian-wise. This place is popular due to its location but the food and service are not that good. The menu is small and basic as well. Fair warning: no French fries for little kids who are picky eaters!! I had a Caesar salad and chicken parm. The Caesar was pretty good but not a wow. The chicken parm is heavily breaded, has very little of the chunky tomato sauce (horrible for people who hat the texture but like the taste of tomatoes, like me), and very little of the cheese as well. The lasagna is simply delicious, I have dined at A Ca Mia, many times but sadly have only had the lasagna as it is so good. It's it served with a blush sauce, and made with veal and ground beef. Service here is good, the only thing holding me back from a full five star review is the host. He could simply be a bit more human, he doesn't welcome or greet you to the restaurant he just asks how many. We recently attended this restaurant during late August on vacation. This was our first time visiting the restaurant after several people recommended this charming Italian restaurant. The staff was courteous kind quick and cautious during Covid. We went early about 530 pm and we were able to get a table within five minutes. We had a lovely view of the Washington Street mall. The food was delicious. We had very good variety of salads salmon pasta and chicken dishes. Both children and adults had it for a variety of choices. Will go again ! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AT A CA MIA. Had a reservation, hostess couldn't find it. Reservation requested a seat indoors. They attempted to give us an outdoors seat where the smokers were walking by the front of the restaurant. Not once, not twice, but three times they tried to give us an outdoor seat. Finally, we are seated inside. Waiting for a waiter to even acknowledge we were there. Five, ten, fifteen minutes later the waiter walks by for the 7th time and says, "I'll be with you in a minute." Waited another five minutes before leaving. If you can not handle a Saturday night crowd, don't overbook the restaurant. This was once one of the go to places in Cape May for a fine italian meal. These days I wouldn't recommend it at all. BTW: It might make sense to have a hostess that speaks better english instead of two hostesses that speak little english. read more
