We had a nice dinner here! No wait for two people on a Friday night, and our server was very sweet. The ambiance was exactly what you want from a waterside restaurant. Dark, cozy, and in the summer probably offers great outdoor seating. We liked the fire roasted bacon wrapped shrimp as an appetizer and enjoyed the harvest pizza for dinner. But, the real show-stopper here was the brioche bread pudding for dessert. It was so addictive, I would've ordered more!! Overall, we enjoyed our meal here and would happily come back.

We had a great experience at Lucky Bones Backwater Grill. The service was incredible--everyone was genuinely friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. I had the turkey dinner, and it honestly felt like Thanksgiving in April. The gravy was delicious, and the turkey was cooked perfectly. It was one of those meals that just hits right. We were there later in the evening, but you wouldn't have known it. The staff treated us like we were their first customers of the day, which really stood out. And the bread pudding was the best I've ever had--soft but just crispy enough. Absolutely worth saving room for dessert. Definitely a place I'd go back to.

Service was the highlight of this meal. Scallops wrapped in bacon were delicious but the beet cream sauce didn't taste like anything. The BBQ shrimp wrapped in bacon had too much sauce on it - you couldn't taste the horseradish that was stuffed inside the shrimp at all. The beets in the salad were bland they needed some salt/acid - dressing was good. My husband enjoyed his seafood pasta dish. He said the cheesecake was delicious (made locally by another store). The strawberry sorbet was very sweet and barely tasted like strawberries.

Visiting Cape May for the first time, it's so easy to fall into tourist traps and go to over commercialized restaurants. I'm so glad I did my research and found Lucky Bones, because this was one of the best outcomes for a spontaneous dining experience we could have had. Situated on the main road as you're entering Cape May, Lucky Bones has some amazing seafood options for an affordable price. Their regular menu is plentiful, and they also have an extensive specials menu (that our amazing server, Taylor, was able to recite off memory. How incredible is it she was able to remember 10+ items and explain each one!!) The standout of our meal was the lobster bisque, which my family cannot stop raving about. While many restaurants skimp on the seafood, this place does the complete opposite. We were so surprised at how much lobster meat was actually in their soup, and can say that that a large bowl of it would even be sufficient as a meal. This was definitely one of the top lobster bisques we've had. One member of our party has a blue cheese allergy, so we made this known to our waitress Taylor when ordering the mussels appetizer (which typically comes with Gorgonzola.) She was detailed in explaining to us that the cheese is next to the shellfish in the kitchen, thoughtful in ensuring that there would not be any cross contamination and went above and beyond for us. Skilled waiters and waitresses like herself are such an asset, especially with there being a gluten sensitive menu, I wouldn't have any concerns dining here with an allergy. Every dish we ordered was delicious, and we left happy, full, and already planning our next visit. Did we mention they didn't skimp on the seafood at all? The shrimp wrap was FILLED with shrimp, no fillers at all. Lucky Bones deserves all the stars, is worth all the money, and should be on everyone's Cape May list.

Love only one thing the Peel your own shrimp is good but if they could be peeled n just we peel the tails off it would be better

I have been coming here for many years! This is one of the most consistent food places in the area. My favorite is the rocket salad, but I also frequently get their linguine and clams! The staff is very try knowledgeable and I feel safe coming here with an allergy (GF friendly too!) They have a dining area and a bar area. Both can get a little loud when busy, so I usually prefer a booth when it's crowded to help drown out some of the other noise. They have a great tap menu for any beer lovers. For my GF friends, they give you a special orange menu and orange napkin that designated you are GF. They have a good selection and both my mom and husband have never gotten sick eating here.

Very nice spot! The bartender was amazing. Brussels sprouts were some of the best I've had and I really enjoyed the chicken sandwich too

We had a group of 21 people for a buffet dinner last night. Pizza, nachos, pork slider etc. Food was excellent and the service top notch. I highly recommend Lucky Bones for your next group event.

Our frequent stop when in Cape May. Open all year round. Great menu and drinks. Fun bar. The service is always excellent. The best is they offer gluten free. Yes the orange plates and napkins tell the server you have a gf allergy. Ask for the gf menu when you check in. Food never disappoints

In Cape May, you gotta be sure to have some local seafood. Lucky bones was just the place to get that. Great atmosphere and great service by Bill. Gave good recommendations and was there through the entire meal. Fish and chips were just what the doctor ordered along with some great local beers. Definitely worth the stop to Lucky bones in Cape May.

First time at Lucky Bones. Always hard not to turn left and go to the lobster house but this time we wanted to try Lucky bones. Had a 6:30pm reservation for the dining room, but for some reason, even though there were some open tables, they sat us in the bar. We let it go and figured it would be an interesting atmosphere. Service was very slow. After about 15 minutes of being seated and still waiting for somebody to come by and say hello, I believe the supervisor of the waitresses came by and said she was going to help out. Terry was very nice, attentive, and professional. it was very nice of her to step in when she saw there was an issue. Lots of interesting cocktails and all were at very reasonable prices. The bourbon honey was a huge hit with my wife. Complementary "fresh baked" focaccia bread with dipping sauce, starts you off. Unfortunately, our "fresh baked" came out of the refrigerator and not the oven because it was cold in the middle and barely warm on the top. It was still good though. Directly out of the oven would've been fantastic. Lots of specials, and I had the scallops wrapped and bacon to start which were accompanied by homemade horseradish beet sauce. The scouts were OK, the bacon was exceptional, and I really really couldn't taste the horseradish in the beet sauce. I probably wouldn't order them again. For our entrées, my wife had the margarita pizza which she enjoyed and took most home. She was not a huge fan of the marinara, but she said overall the pizza was pretty good. Lots of basil, but not much mozzarella on it in my opinion. I had the fried oyster platter, which was excellent. The oysters were plump and perfectly cooked and the accompany. French fries were really good. I would definitely recommend the fried oysters if available.

Yummy, well priced food! Service was amazing, all the waiters were friendly and on top of it--checking in on us but not too much where it was overbearing. It was very busy, especially around dinner time (7:30p) so if you're wanting to eat here, I'd suggest booking a reservation.

This place has interesting smoked wings if you haven't tried it you need to try it; it's pretty good! I like their sweet Thai chilly or their mango habanero the most

Yelp Mad Batter…read morereally impressed me. There we were, in Cape May on Thanksgiving Saturday looking for parking nearby. After finally finding a space, we walked up to Mad Batter, where there were already a number of people standing outside. We were a party of seven, so this wasn't looking good for us. Well, we had a Thanksgiving miracle. They had a table ready for us in less that ten minutes! The food and service here were both very good. I had the crab cake sandwich. It was very mild in flavor but still good. I recommend it, but I'll try some of their other offerings before I get it again. My sister-in-law had one of the specials, the Fried Tomato & Cracked Black Pepper Bacon Sandwich. She and my brother agreed that it was messy but delicious. The lobster mayo set it off nicely. Our server was really friendly and accommodating. She made sure we were taken well care of. We pointed out an error in the check, and she was very kind in taking care of it, and gave no attitude. If you can find parking, this place is worth coming to!

The worse possible service ever! TO THE OWNER: Please…read moreremind all waitstaff to ask customers about any allergies before serving food, to ensure their safety and prevent any potential harm. I ordered the harvest salad with candied walnuts. I have no idea what candied walnuts are, so I wish the waiter asked if I had any allergies because they can SOMETIMES contain cinnamon in it and I am allergic to cinnamon. When the salad came out I started to eat the salad and noticed my throat starting to feel funny. I didn't mix the salad well so I just ate the arugula with the sauce and the chicken. Half way through I noticed there were walnuts and I took a bite of it and my throat immediately started to swell and I can feel my face and tongue getting itchy. Thank god I have my allergy medications on me, but what if the next person this happens to doesn't... We immediately told the server about my cinnamon allergy and the waiter looked at me like I was joking because I ate half of it and then asked me "So you're done with that?" and I said, "Yes I can't eat it anymore, I'm allergic to it and it's contaminated with everything else. I felt my throat starting to close up, but I am okay because I have my allergy medicine. " He asked if I wanted anything else and I said no just a hot tea to help with inflammation. I appreciate that the server was trying to help us out, but he still came back with the bill and said the owner is still going to charge me because it says candied walnuts on the menu, implying that it's my fault...I really expected this place to have better service, but looking at past reviews I can see how this place has overpriced underrated food and terrible service. They don't care about their customers and certainly just focused on making money. Hopefully after today they include that their candied walnuts have cinnamon in it! Or at the very least ask the customers if they have any allergies beforehand
