I wanted to like Mad Batter because I heard some good things about it. It's a cute house turned into an Alice in Wonderland themed restaurant. The staff was excellent and we ordered mimosas to drink. I was excited to try the clam chowder since it was free of all of my allergies. I then ordered the arugula and mozzarella salad with an addition of their lobster. The mimosas were excellent! The clam chowder was very good. But the salad was awful and the lobster was rubbery and overcooked. I will come back for the drinks and clam chowder only and I am willing to give them a second try.

This place is a 10 out of 5. Great vibe, great drinks, great food and great service. Bartender was very attentive as well. Oh....and check out the photos.

American style restaurant. Good burgers and breakfast. Located in walking distance of the plaza and beach.

Great breakfast spot with friendly staff from the moment you walk in and great food! I ordered the omelette with loaded fries and the oatmeal pancakes. The omelette was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly, and the oatmeal pancakes were different but surprisingly good and glad I tried them for the first time. The place was clean, and the whole vibe made me feel like Alice in Wonderland...okay not really, but I had to throw that in there with the whole 'Mad Hatter/Batter' reference, ya know. Anyway, go check this place out for breakfast!

No reservations for breakfast or lunch. Went for breakfast and was told the wait would be 20 mins but only waited max 10. Really fast turn around. Great spot. Have always wanted to try it and am so glad we did. Bloody Mary- regular is pretty spicy with a lot of peppercorns and horseradish. Very good and strong. Got a solid buzz. Thick sliced orange and almond French toast- so fluffy with great flavor. Not overly rich. The sweet crunch of the almond slicers are a nice touch Chesapeake Bay Benedict- so much crab meat but not an overpowering fish flavor. Pairs nicely with the capers

I always look forward to visiting. One of the best breakfast spots in the area. We lucked out and didn't even have to wait for a table this time. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and delicious. You can tell that the corned beef hash is homemade but they somehow manage to nail the consistency of canned. Prices are reasonable for the area.

Another Cape May staple - only managed to stop in once this trip - for breakfast - got a great spot in the porch. Service here has always been impeccable & this visit was no exception. I had an Omelet & the GF had the Morgan Rostie - both were awesome! Mad Batter is a great place to sit back & relax while the hubbub goes by out front . Timing was perfect - not a long wait for drinks, food, refills, etc. - but not rushed either. I would highly recommend Mad Batter to any visitor to Cape May!

I enjoyed my breakfast at Mad Batter! I ordered the 3 egg omelette, and the portion was very generous and it tasted great. My friend also enjoyed her eggs Benedict. The food is also very well priced. The resturant is gorgeous - the decor was so pretty and it felt so cozy but also aesthetic at the same time. It is a really beautiful dining experience. The service was also amazing - the food came out very quick. I enjoyed my breakfast here!

My husband and I visited The Mad Batter in Cape May based on a recommendation from a colleague, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the expectations. The food was just okay--not bad, but definitely not worth the price. We started with the cheesesteak egg rolls, which were a real letdown. They were overcooked, and the filling was sparse--mostly crispy shell with barely anything inside. We also ordered the nachos, which lacked flavor and felt like a pile of chips with hardly any cheese or toppings. I did have a bite of my husband's salad, which I actually thought was quite good--fresh and flavorful. In hindsight, I probably should've gone with that instead. What really stuck with us was that later that evening, we ended up ordering cheesesteak egg rolls at another spot because we felt so unsatisfied by the ones we had here. For how expensive the meal was, we left wishing we had chosen a different restaurant altogether.

Gluten free pancakes were pretty dry. Ordered a side of crispy bacon which was delicious. My husband said the Chesapeake bay egg Benedict was good but needed a lot more holladaise sauce - waitress never checked on us after we got our food so he couldn't request it. Service was lacking food ok nothing to write home about.

Stopped in for brunch and was able to sit at the bar right away--no wait, which was great. I ordered a mimosa and a manmosa to start, both were well-made and refreshing. I had the yogurt bowl, which came in a generous portion. The house-made granola was especially good--crunchy and flavorful. It was topped with a ton of fresh fruit, which made it both filling and refreshing. Great brunch spot overall--would definitely come back!

My friend and I made a quick stop in Cape May, so we decided to try this restaurant since it was on all the Cape May itineraries. We visited on a Sunday morning and it was busy but we were able to get a table with only a 5 minute wait. The restaurant is cute, it looks like an older house. We got to sit by the small outdoor patio which was very pretty. To eat, I got the Helsinki, which was so good and had plenty of salmon. I will say, they were busy but the service was so slow. We had to flag down our waitress to get the check because it seemed like she might have forgotten us.

Mad Batter is tucked inside a hotel and is way bigger than you would think from the outside! They don't take reservations for breakfast & lunch but since it's the off season they were able to accommodate my party of 6. They have a big menu and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The vegan and regular wings were both amazing. The crab cake was also delicious. The only downside was that the fries were cold! The service was great and very fast!

The odyssey to finding it was well worth the effort. We had dinner reservations but on a Monday in May, probably did not need them. We both loved our flounder almondine order, despite it being a Monday night (when one does not typically order fish and expect it to be fresh). This really was! Service was top-notch and super-friendly from Jared, who was deeply apologetic when the oyster appetizer we ordered failed to appear - he comped a beer without prompting (and insisted upon it). Even absent this gesture, his attitude and manner made our evening - the excellence of the entrees was a cherry on top. One note and not the fault of the restaurant at all - a number of families with small children were dining at other tables. This is not an especially well-suited restaurant for families with under-5 kids. Their collective noise and behavior was more akin to, well, a Chuck-E-Cheese or MacDonalds. There was nothing anyone could do, of course.

Asked us if we minded sitting on the inside deck. We did mind and were then show to a table inside the restaurant. (If we had our kids with us, then I would have not minded eating on the deck). The table was an awesome tucked away corner table that faced the inner dining room. The decor and experience were top notch. I'm glad I said no to eating outside. The room is absolutely beautiful if you are into vintage looks. I said it looked like Gaston's Tavern. Food and waitress service was good. My sister had the short ribs and they were tasty. I had a burger well done (and it was!) with both fries and a side salad. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and felt it was a good value for the cost. Love, Nicole

These two are the duck wings and the crispy shrimp. Both delicious but the wings VERY good. We also had a swordfish crostini done on a crispy won ton and we both liked that very much. Appetizer with pork belly was incredibly tender and rich, they subbed a shrimp for the scallop and the shrimp was massive and meaty. Choc. Peanut butter cheesecake was so good. Rich but not too sweet and great flavor. Rich thick crust at the bottom was perfect balance. Quiet nice ambiance and again great service.

I recently dined at the Ebbitt Room, and I have never had such a conflicting experience. While the…read morekitchen and bar are clearly talented, the service and management decisions completely ruined the evening. The Positives: I have to give credit where it is due as the food and drinks were genuinely great. We ordered the calamari, celery root soup, scallops, and the chicken breast. Everything came out delicious and perfectly prepared. The drinks were also a highlight specifically the pomegranate margarita and the winter sangria. The bartender clearly knows what they are doing. The Service: Absent and Unprofessional. Unfortunately, the night took a sharp turn regarding the service. Our waitress was virtually non existent. She spent the entire night chatting with another couple, barely sparing a moment for our table outside of taking the initial order. It got to the point where the bartender had to do the waitresses job. Our drinks were sitting on the bar for quite a while until the bartender finally walked them over to us, saying, "I just wanted to drop these off so they wouldn't sit out." Later, we watched the bartender go into the back and run food to the other couple, the very table our waitress was busy socializing with, telling them he, "just wanted to bring this out so it would still be hot." The bartender was acting more like a waiter than our actual server was. Sketchy Billing & Atmosphere: Things got even stranger when the check arrived. We noticed a $24 charge for a "cheeseburger"--an item that isn't even on the menu. We flagged down the waitress, and before we could even explain the issue, she immediately said, "Oh yes, you are right, there is an error, sorry about that." It was an incredibly odd reaction; she knew there was an error before we even vocalized what was wrong. To top it off, the dining room was absolutely freezing. When we asked why, the waitress claimed the heat was broken. However, upon visiting the restroom, the heat was pumping just fine. It felt deliberate--like a corner cutting measure to save money during the off-season rather than a genuine mechanical failure. Overall: Despite the food being delicious, the terrible service, the suspicious billing "error," and the uncomfortable temperature make this a place I cannot recommend. For the price point, you expect a certain level of professionalism and comfort, and Ebbitt Room failed on both counts. I will not be returning.

Food had some definite highs, but unfortunately, a big low. There's a lot going on in the dishes. We ordered two appetizers to start. The Tuna Tartare unfortunately was pretty bland and my wife thought a tad fishy. The Foie Gras by itself was delicious but it was drowned in a sauce that overpowered it. I wouldn't order them again, but there are lots of other options. The pasta course took a really long time to come out. We almost thought they lost the order. When the Radiatori arrived, it was worth the wait. A little spicy but delicious! Definitely recommended but pretty pricey for a small portion at $25. The entrees were delicious!
