HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME !!! My Sir (yes, I literally call him that because he is such a sexy Sicilian gentleman and always dresses to the 9's!) is taking me away here for my birthday. It's my first one with him in my life :) I was blown away when we walked up to the main house, toured inside of ours, had tea, a cozy night and breakfast. He breakfast was nithing shoet of amazing! The star was the Blueberry Stuffed French Toast casserole - like OMG insanely delicious!!! I kind of had three servings! Many other perfect choices too, like English muffins, fruit, yogurt, granola). Our room is done in dark reds and boasts cherrywood. Also, beautiful prints and furniture. We had a romantic evening with the jacuzzi, (gas) fireplace and cloud cozy King sized bed! Stellar service from all - Sam and Amanda in particular. They do A LOT here! We MAY leave the room today, lol. Walking Washington Street is a possibility. MAYBE the Zoo... I lived in Cape May many moons ago. A definite place to visit- you will always have somewhere to go and somewhere to eat! Splurge on the decadence of The Queen Victoria!!! We came here for an Anniversary getaway. Doug & AnnaMarie went above & beyond to make each guest's stay enjoyable. This was our first visit to this charming B&B and it was truly a positive & memorable experience. It's located within the heart of Cape May, so walking distance to a myriad of restaurants and shops and only one block from the beach. The amenities are unbeatable - beach cruiser bikes, beach chairs and towels, lots of outdoor porches to relax on and read, and an outdoor shower. The breakfasts are delicious (we had an egg/cheese entree with ham the first day & a stuffed French toast with sausage patty the 2nd day) The daily morning and afternoon baked goods were delicious (especially the assorted breads with homemade strawberry jam!) The owners (Doug & AnnaMarie) are extremely warm and welcoming and go above and beyond & to ensure every guest felt safe during the COVID pandemic (great social distancing, mask awareness, plastic shields as needed & hand sanitizer). A well stocked 24 hr kitchen with plentiful bottled water as well. Lots of extras that you don't find in other B&Bs. They also immediately alerted us when my wife left her pocketbook behind at breakfast. You can tell that the management truly cares about making this place a great experience for their guests without cutting any corners. It's truly a beautiful property with lots of outdoor space and charming rooms each unique & all very well-maintained, extremely clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. We've been staying here for the past few years now every July 4th. The location is great, only 1 block away from the beach. Room is always clean. We love the breakfasts and tea time snacks. Sometimes we come to get our tea time snack to bring back to the beach! The price is reasonable when other hotels in Cape May have raised their rates to exorbitant amounts. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better birthday present; Queen Victoria delivered on everything! We checked in with Maria, who was super sweet. She let us know they had upgraded us to the Empress suite since the room we had originally booked (Knightsbridge?) had some issues with the heat and was under construction. Oh my god, this room was amazing! Located in the house of royals, we were told that this room books up to a year in advance and it's easy to see why! There's a beautiful king size mahogany bed with a half canopy, high ceilings, electric fireplace, and even a 2 person whirlpool hot tub in addition to a two person shower! There's shutters that can be shut for privacy or opened to let in sunlight. We definitely felt like royalty staying here! At 4pm, they serve afternoon tea which I was really excited about. That day they had a lemon herbal (non-caffeinated) and Paris (black tea with fruit notes I believe). Accompanying the tea was an assortment of crackers and cheese as well as homemade snack bars and even a peach and melon cobbler warm from the oven! Everyone staying at the hotel works their way in and you meet most (if not all) the other guests during tea time. The one couple we met has been coming to the Queen Victoria since 2008 and has visited over 8 times! If that doesn't tell you how great the service is, I don't know what will. We also learned tons about the hotel at that point; I.e. Our building, House of Royals, was a house of ill repute back in its day (drinking, gambling, and the like) and that a female ghost (a prostitute) haunts the house still. Definitely an interesting twist to our quiet little trip! At night, they do a turndown service and I asked if she could leave some extra bath salts for the whirlpool. When we came back from dinner, I had two extra packs! Score! Plus the pantry upstairs is fully stocked with soda, water, tea and coffee that you can grab at your leisure which is nice. (There's also a Keurig in the room for use as well) This morning we had the pleasure of meeting Ann-Marie, one of the owners of the bed and breakfast and she was great. She seemed very sincere and seemed to genuinely care that we had a pleasant stay. Breakfast was a buffet with an assortment of hot and cold items (granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, even ham slices and an egg casserole type offering with salsa on the side.) You could have orange juice, coffee, tea to accompany your breakfast. Check out was equally painless. I can't wait for my next stay at the Queen Victoria! read more

I had the pleasure of going on a work retreat and staying at The Royal Hall. The building was absolutely gorgeous, the rooms are perfect & exceptionally unique. The inn is one block from the beach. The buildings are well maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfasts are abundant.

First off, before we even checked in and just arrived in town we knew we wanted to visit again. The B&B was so lovely and charming & absolutely beautiful. Anna & Doug have really thought of everything. I felt like I went back in time to the 19th century Victorian era. Water, tea, coffee, and juice were always readily available in the pantry. A decanter filled with sherry is also always available. I've never had sherry before and it was strong and delicious. Every time I walked into the room I had to have a glass. And they left out fresh fruit and treats for us to enjoy any time. How lovely. Every afternoon from 4 to 5:30pm there's tea with all kinds of goodies. We were lucky enough to participate in the April birthday celebration. I'm not sure if it's monthly but Saturday they had a cake for everyone in the house born in April. It was so cute. Who does that? Also, I must say everyday breakfast is made fresh and it's so damn GOOD. The garden veggie bake was the best breakfast I've ever had. The food was so good I had to purchase their cookbook. I couldn't wait another 7 months to have their food again! read more

Every Aspect of Our Stay was Meticulously Attended to...It was Such a Welcome Respite especially in our world of rudeness and hurry and appt mix ups!.We were treated courteously and encouraged to use the facilities even after we had checked out...can you imagine any other Hotel or Business encouraging that? Exceptional B&B that is walking distance to pretty much everything. Friendliest owners you can find. Take the time out to converse and make sure you are having a great stay. Clean, comfortable rooms. We spent 4 nights at the beginning of December and stayed in the "Covent Garden". Check-in was like a whirl wind canned speech that the receptionist had made a thousand times. We were given our keys and told where our room was. We have stayed in a lot of B&B's but this was the first time we felt like we were checking into a hotel. Most B&B's will take you to your room, open the door for you and ask if you need anything. Not here. Still, talking to some of the patrons, they come back year after year. The "Queen" has that kind of following. Positives: My wife and I really enjoyed talking with the frequent yearly patrons over tea and sweets. Breakfast was a selection of an Omelette, fresh made sweet bread, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee. Service at breakfast was excellent. Our room was clean and they came by daily to change out towels and refresh the room. Negatives: The #1 issue is "Parking". We went in the off season and we never did find street parking. We were lucky and found parking on the side of the building. We walked (even though it was cold, wet & windy) to most restaurants or to shop because we didn't want to lose our parking space. A couple months earlier, I got an email from the Queen that they would be happy to make dinner reservations during our stay. I sent them a list and waited for a response. I never did receive any kind of response. Eventually I just made my own reservations. This is only suggestions for future new patrons. Be one of the first one's to get to breakfast in the morning. There is limited seating. If you come later most of the desired fresh berry fruit served in the community bowl will be gone. Then you'll be stuck with what's left, usually chopped melon's. read more

Fantastic stay, was here for one night with my wife. The owners were amazing, so sweet and friendly, they prepared an amazing Sunday brunch complete with Beer bread (so good). Very nice job with distancing, cleaning/sanitizing, masks etc. I can't say enough good things. Close to restaurants and Washington mall The breakfast was plentiful and consisted of a wide variety of options and was overall outstanding My only issue is the lack of overnight parking. We had to park 6 blocks from the inn and you once you park you couldn't move it for the fear you could not find any overnight parking. The Queen Victoria is a bed and breakfast. The morning starts out with complimentary breakfast. It was amazing 5 cheese egg omelet/quiche. We were greeted by Doug, one of the owners of the inn. He took the time to explain all of the breakfast options and to learn about us as well. Are stayed in the Crown Jewel. Amazing room. Only room in residence with private outside entrance and private parking as well!!! The room was 2 floors. On the 1st floor was a living room/ fireplace(gas)/ flatscreen. Also full bath with Dual shower head. Kitchenette with microwave/ small fridge, Keurig soda. They provide you with so much. 2nd floor there is a king size bed and a jacuzzi. Went with my girl back in April 2015 right before the "Big Rush" into the area, it was nice and quiet. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this B&B and I will definitely be visiting again next year! Staff was amazing, rooms were very well kept and the area has so much to offer, beautiful NJ beaches without all the hair-gel and douchebaggery normally associated with the Jersey shoreline BRAHHHHH!!!! We love the QV. We've stayed there twice now for our birthdays and both times were treated more like friends by the wonderful innkeepers and all their staff. Our room was cozy, immaculate and beautifully decorated---not cluttered. The queen-size bed was super comfy, and we enjoyed a gas fireplace this year. Breakfast is scrumptious and they serve a different Harney and Sons tea (very high end and exquisitely good) every day at teatime. We rode their bikes every day we were there (during a brief warmish spell after this horrid winter). Cape May is a great place to ride a bike! The sunsets are lovely---it's one of the only places on the East Coast where you can see a sunset on the ocean. We'll be back. :-) read more

The wife and I received a two-night gift certificate as a wedding present and finally got around to taking our "honeymoon." My wife is a Philly girl and spent summers down here as a child, however for this Masshole from Worcester, this was my first time to Cape May and I loved it. Reminds me a lot of Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod. The Queen Victoria was awesome! Staff was excellent, breakfasts were delicious, we loved hanging on the porch swing and rode the beach cruisers all over the island. Oh, and I haven't slept that well in quite some time. My wife and I stayed here for our one year wedding anniversary. I am so glad we found this little gem. The customer service is top notch and I couldn't have asked for better service. They provided sherry for free in their common areas. After a long day of walking around taking in the sites and shops, I was looking forward to sitting in their cozy living room, sipping on some sherry, and having a nice conversation. The room itself was nice and comfortable. I liked the period decor. They did a nice job on keeping with the Victorian look while providing modern amenities. The breakfast was great! This is my second time at the Queen Victoria. The first was for my wife and my honeymoon. The second is for our anniversary. Neither time have we been disappointed. The inn is situated two blocks from the Washington Street Mall and three blocks from the beach. It's an easy walk to either. Street parking can be annoying to find, but once you do find it, you might not need your car again until you leave Cape May. While the Queen Victoria does not have a restaurant, they do provide breakfast and afternoon tea. The former usually consists of a casserole of some type and a side dish along with a selection of fruit and breads and their fantastic homemade granola. They also provide free coffee, tea, soda, and bottled water in their kitchenettes. The two rooms I have been in are very nice, and all the rooms are unique. For instance the Queen Victoria room has a two person walk in shower where as the Prince of Wales room has a large claw foot tub. Somehow, they have found beds that are more comfortable that almost anything I have ever slept in. Each room also has a TV and DVD player. Free Wi-Fi is available. The main building (they have three) has a wonderful common area with Victorian and Edwardian era furniture, and a player piano. At the end of the day, it is nice to sit by the gas fireplace talking to other guests while having a glass of sherry out of the nightcap decanter. My wife and I will come again many times. read more

My mother has been frequenting here for a few years now. She always stays in Prince Albert (only room with double beds). This is my first time here, she treated me to my Bday. I loved it here. It's convenient to the beach and Washington Square. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast buffet they set up is amazing and has something different everyday. They have Tea Time as well. Highly recommend this place. The only downfall (and this goes for majority of the Inns) you have to park on the street. read more

Wonderful! We stayed here off-season and the mid-week winter rate was fantastic! We certainly got our money's worth. The people were friendly. Every room and every building were very clean. Our room was lovely, quiet, and comfortable. We enjoyed the afternoon tea and availed ourselves of the well-stocked beverage/coffee pantry on our floor. Breakfast was delicious with fresh baked goods, an egg dish, and fresh fruit. The location is super, too. Parking is a non-issue in the winter/early spring. Hands down, THE worst experience ever! Bugs ALL OVER our room! Ants swarming in the bathroom. When we told the owner Doug about it, he laughed it off and tried to make some joke about it. I loveeeee this place!!!! We came to celebrate our birthdays and it was the best choice we made. They welcomed us with a persona led picture wishing us a happy birthday..The breakfast is to die for! Very fresh and homemade... Even the orange juice is freshly squeezed.. Ann and Doug are very friendly and take the time to speak to all their guest. I felt comfortable and welcomed. We stayed in the room Prince of Wales and it was perfect!! They are super clean!!!!! We also had tea at 4 and they had yummy treats!!! Everything is walking distance from here... The only negative point is that they don't have private parking but Chris at the front desk directed me to where I could find FREE parking and it was only two blocks away. Diane and I were discussing getting married and we decided to elope and we both knew that there was no other place we would rather have our special day... the very first place we ever stayed together was the Queen Victoria. I contacted Anne Marie and she help us put our lil private ceremony beautifully together. The parlor was full of spring flowers and they placed a beautiful cake, which was made there, and champagne glasses on a small decorated table. Absolutely charming, quaint, & convenient. We stayed 2 nights and upon our arrival we immediately greeted by warm and friendly staff. Doug & Anna Marie were so kind and accommodating, we felt right at home. The breakfast and evening snacks were delicious. The lovely Victorian is located just steps from the beach and shopping area- PERFECT LOCATION! The mattress and love seat could use an update but overall the entire experience was wonderful. The queen Victoria was incredibly impressive in September 2020 when we visited. Their Covid precautions were in place. We felt safe, and they made it easy to socially distance, their meals and procedures for serving them were thoughtful and careful. The room was very clean and ventilated. As a repeat customer I would typically give the Queen Victoria 4-5 stars but an incident during a recent stay causes the 3 star review this trip. My wife & I were up early for a walk on our last morning and then went to breakfast before returning to our room to shower and pack. When we arrived in our room housekeeping was already there preparing the room for the next guests - at 8:45am. This was quite annoying since we were forced to just sit around for 15 minutes when we anxious to shower and pack to get going for a full days drive. In addition, when we left for our walk we placed most of our clothes and bags on the bed to get ready to pack. Housekeeping had to move all of our things in order to make the bed. When I stopped at the front desk to return our keys I mentioned this the QV employee. She acted as if she could care less and never even attempted a half hearted apology. She simply stated all sheets had to be removed in a timely fashion because they needed to be ironed. I mentioned housekeeping had also made the bed (so our sheets were obviously not needed) and questioned why did this need to happen while were we still guests and well early of checkout time. She just stared are me waiting for my wife & I to leave. My wife & I are loyal to a fault when it comes to repeating our business. I used to travel for business in excess of 100,000 miles a year so I'm very aware inconveniences are bound to occur. However, the mark of a good airline, restaurant, hotel (or B&B) is how the staff react. There are many other highly regarded B & B's in Cape May so the math is very simple. $400 per night + a very avoidable inconvenience + staff who could care less = never returning to the Queen Victoria. read more

My husband and I first experienced the QV on our honeymoon on 2006 and have returned 3 times since then. As an older couple with grown kids we enjoy the quieter times in Sept after the summer crowds are gone. Everything about the QV is excellent! The rooms are immaculate with great attention to making you feel at home. The beds are so comfortable you won't want to get out in the morning, but please get out because you don't want to miss the breakfast which is always something different and delish! The porch seems to be the nicest place to enjoy your breakfast and share ideas with the other guests. Unlike some other B&Bs I've been to, the QV has a relaxed buffet style breakfast until 10am so you can sleep later if you desire. The other meal of the day is afternoon tea (iced in summer) with savory and sweet treats to sample every day at 4pm. How very traditional for an English Victorian! The room decor is Victorian but with an emphasis on comfort. We have stayed in the Prince Albert Hall suites but this year decided to upgrade to the Regents Park next door. It is a private stand alone cottage with handicap access and a parking spot in front. Even though we didn't need the handicap room, the parking spot was definitely a plus! Even when we stayed in other suites, we parked the car a few blocks away and never needed to move it. The QV is perfectly located 2 blocks from the beach and shopping and great restaurants in walking distance. Doug and Ann Marie are your hosts. They are full of great ideas and recommendations and willing to go out of their way to accommodate guests. Amenities include beach chairs and bicycles to borrow during your stay. We definitely would recommend the QV to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend or midweek getaway in a quaint historic victorian town at the Jersey shore. read more

What a wonderful B&B! Stayed at the marigold Prince Albert building right next to the main green building, and the Prince Albert building seemed much nicer and peppier. They serve the afternoon tea and breakfast from there and have lots of rocking chairs and seating on the porch. The place is well manicured and taken care of. It seems like there more trees surrounding this property than the rest of the Victorians on Cape May, making it very cool on a hot 4th of July weekend. The staff was indeed very very nice, they served watermelon and crab quiche on 4th of July during tea time, and throughout our stay we were welcome to free beverages and sweets. Free usage of beach chairs, bicycles, and outdoor showers all came in handy, and they weren't stingy or gave us a list of rules to follow either. It was really chill, and we had a great time there. For just one night they let us stay there, and gave us a top floor wonderful room with cold ac and whirlpool tub. Everything in pristine condition for such an old building. We had a whole rooftop next to our room that was ours to use undisturbed as well. A truly great experience and well worth the money for a relaxing stay. read more

We are ending a four day stay at this beautiful B&B and are sorry to leave. The hospitality, the wonderful breakfast, the cleanliness, the magnificent ground and the atmosphere made for a lovely stay. Ann and Doug were very hands on beyond checking guests in and out. They served breakfast and tea, cleared dishes and chatted with guests. The entire staff was so friendly. We stayed in the Gilbert & Sullivan, a two room suite, so we had plenty of room.
