What a coincidence Queen is actually my nickname
    Fox E.

I'm a bit of a Queen and I used to date Victoria. So do I qualify to stay here? Lovely bed and breakfast in Cape May which we have stayed in just once. We like the Montreal better but this one is really nice as well. Similarly priced and maybe slightly not as spectacular and homely.

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better birthday present; Queen Victoria delivered on everything! We checked in with Maria, who was super sweet. She let us know they had upgraded us to the Empress suite since the room we had originally booked (Knightsbridge?) had some issues with the heat and was under construction. Oh my god, this room was amazing! Located in the house of royals, we were told that this room books up to a year in advance and it's easy to see why! There's a beautiful king size mahogany bed with a half canopy, high ceilings, electric fireplace, and even a 2 person whirlpool hot tub in addition to a two person shower! There's shutters that can be shut for privacy or opened to let in sunlight. We definitely felt like royalty staying here! At 4pm, they serve afternoon tea which I was really excited about. That day they had a lemon herbal (non-caffeinated) and Paris (black tea with fruit notes I believe). Accompanying the tea was an assortment of crackers and cheese as well as homemade snack bars and even a peach and melon cobbler warm from the oven! Everyone staying at the hotel works their way in and you meet most (if not all) the other guests during tea time. The one couple we met has been coming to the Queen Victoria since 2008 and has visited over 8 times! If that doesn't tell you how great the service is, I don't know what will. We also learned tons about the hotel at that point; I.e. Our building, House of Royals, was a house of ill repute back in its day (drinking, gambling, and the like) and that a female ghost (a prostitute) haunts the house still. Definitely an interesting twist to our quiet little trip! At night, they do a turndown service and I asked if she could leave some extra bath salts for the whirlpool. When we came back from dinner, I had two extra packs! Score! Plus the pantry upstairs is fully stocked with soda, water, tea and coffee that you can grab at your leisure which is nice. (There's also a Keurig in the room for use as well) This morning we had the pleasure of meeting Ann-Marie, one of the owners of the bed and breakfast and she was great. She seemed very sincere and seemed to genuinely care that we had a pleasant stay. Breakfast was a buffet with an assortment of hot and cold items (granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, bagels, even ham slices and an egg casserole type offering with salsa on the side.) You could have orange juice, coffee, tea to accompany your breakfast. Check out was equally painless. I can't wait for my next stay at the Queen Victoria!

Two little chocolates to welcome us...umm one disappeared.

First off, before we even checked in and just arrived in town we knew we wanted to visit again. The B&B was so lovely and charming & absolutely beautiful. Anna & Doug have really thought of everything. I felt like I went back in time to the 19th century Victorian era. Water, tea, coffee, and juice were always readily available in the pantry. A decanter filled with sherry is also always available. I've never had sherry before and it was strong and delicious. Every time I walked into the room I had to have a glass. And they left out fresh fruit and treats for us to enjoy any time. How lovely. Every afternoon from 4 to 5:30pm there's tea with all kinds of goodies. We were lucky enough to participate in the April birthday celebration. I'm not sure if it's monthly but Saturday they had a cake for everyone in the house born in April. It was so cute. Who does that? Also, I must say everyday breakfast is made fresh and it's so damn GOOD. The garden veggie bake was the best breakfast I've ever had. The food was so good I had to purchase their cookbook. I couldn't wait another 7 months to have their food again!

The Queen Victoria is a bed and breakfast. The morning starts out with complimentary breakfast. It was amazing 5 cheese egg omelet/quiche. We were greeted by Doug, one of the owners of the inn. He took the time to explain all of the breakfast options and to learn about us as well. Are stayed in the Crown Jewel. Amazing room. Only room in residence with private outside entrance and private parking as well!!! The room was 2 floors. On the 1st floor was a living room/ fireplace(gas)/ flatscreen. Also full bath with Dual shower head. Kitchenette with microwave/ small fridge, Keurig soda. They provide you with so much. 2nd floor there is a king size bed and a jacuzzi. This is experience that you and your significant other should try at least once...A++

Went with my girl back in April 2015 right before the "Big Rush" into the area, it was nice and quiet. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this B&B and I will definitely be visiting again next year! Staff was amazing, rooms were very well kept and the area has so much to offer, beautiful NJ beaches without all the hair-gel and douchebaggery normally associated with the Jersey shoreline BRAHHHHH!!!! Def go to Blue Pig, stay away from Ugly Mug. Lots of great local shops!

For starters, the Harrison/Pharos Inn does not have a front desk. When you show up for your stay,…read moreyou are not told where to park to unload. Eventually you get out and ring a bell. Someone that is working in the back (housekeeping or kitchen staff), comes to let you in and hands you the paperwork and a quick synopsis of your stay. There is no one to help you with your bags up to the 2nd or 3rd floors. One of the reasons that I chose the Harrison was for its location. For this reason I would give the Inn 3.5 stars rather than 3, but that is not an option. The location was perfect. Close to the center of town and the beach. One could park their car and walk or bike everywhere. However, the photos are misleading. I thought that I was booking a B&B with the old home charm, but one that was also impeccably updated. The rooms had white bedding which is similar to upscale hotels, however other parts of the room were subpar. The carpets need to be replaced. In the hallways and in our room they were filthy (stained and discolored all over). The bathroom shower was a prefabricated shower unit which was underwhelming for the price, but what was most annoying was that the shower regulator was loose and difficult to adjust. The water did not warm up for a few minutes and dripped while in the off position. The TV was small and too far away for the remote to work from the bed which is the only spot in the room that you would watch it from. Perhaps it needed batteries. I suspected this stay experience was going to be different than what I am accustomed to because I was contacted a few days prior to our stay exclusively via an AI messenger. Any questions that AI could not answer, the AI messenger had to escalate the question to the front desk (which did not exist at the inn). If you want to speak with a live person instead of going back and forth with the AI messenger, you have to call the number listed on the website. You are calling a general number. The Harrison/Pharos is a part of a conglomerate of many hotels in Cape May. You must listen to all of the options, and finally pick a number to punch to hopefully speak with a person. I chose housekeeping because there was not a front desk option. I called about how to work the TV because there were no instructions. The housekeeping person was not successful at helping over the phone. We were going out to dinner and after 8PM there is no one to help or stop by. We ended up figuring out some of the issues ourselves and then gave up. In addition, the network to get on the wifi was different than what was listed in the paperwork. Maybe as AI becomes more prevalent, people will become more accepting because we are forced to. In the future, I will make sure to avoid such places as long as I can. I have been to many B&Bs in the past and one of the perks is a fantastic breakfast. The breakfast was good, but not great. The afternoon tea was ok. The cake was dry. If I were eating at a restaurant, I would not go back. We paid for early entry to the room on the day we arrived. I was told that they could take our bags if we arrived early and the room was not ready. We chose to pay to get in two hours early. This is something new to me, but I did it anyway, If we had not, I do not know what they would have done with our bags. There was no one to help. For the amount of money that we paid for the room (about $600 per night after all fees), I expected more. I chose the place because of its location, old house charm, and what I thought was its clean, updated (not dingy) insides. The photos are misleading. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Even at a lower price point for the weekend of June 19th and 20th, much of my dissatisfaction would still be warranted.

It is in a giant Victorian home, and I absolutely loved that they have kept the charm from that time period. We had booked the Decatur suite which is on the second floor. Our room was very spacious, and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud!!! The bathroom had both a standing shower and a jacuzzi tub. (I didn't use the tub so I can't comment on that). The room was very clean, as was the bathroom. We were also supplied with two super comfortable robes, which were so soft!!! The breakfast both mornings we were there was delicious, and both very different! The first morning we had a fruit salad with vanilla dressing, followed by a pineapple coconut oat bar with a side of bacon. I could have eaten the oat bar, which was similar to a baked oatmeal, all day long! It wasn't too sweet, and had the perfect amount of fruit. Our second morning, we had a brûlée banana with fresh berries and Chantilly cream followed by an egg and sausage casserole. It was SO good!!! Amy definitely does an amazing job with breakfast. The little touches that added a lot for me was the Bloody Mary bar at breakfast. I love a good Bloody Mary and The Mason Cottage provides all the fixings to make that happen. Also, in the afternoon from 3pm-4pm they put out some light snacks. We had cheese and crackers the first day, with these amazing creme brûlée tarts, our second day we had chips and salsa, an herb dip, and freshly baked cookies. The location is also phenomenal, you are one block from the beach, and one block from shopping! I am looking forward to our next trip, and we will definitely be staying at The Mason Cottage!
