4 1/2 stars but I am rounding up. Pros 1. Free wifi. 2. Personable and genuinely nice owners (John and Lisa). 3. The rooms are nice and the walls are thick (you cannot hear your neighbor). 4. Walking distance to the beach (couple of blocks). 5. Extremely affordable ($169 a night for the room we stayed in). 6. They provide you with beach towels. Cons 1. Off street parking - only certain rooms get to park in the private lot. 2. We had a leaky faucet and by the looks of it, it's been leaking for a while. Really had a great stay here. The owners are super hospitable and nice and really make you feel like you're really staying with a good friend in Cape May instead of at a hotel/B&B. I would 100% recommend staying here to anyone. It's extremely affordable and the owners are some of the friendliest people on the planet. Next time I come to Cape May, I'm coming here.

Ok- Take a weekend that's plans are up in the air and start scrolling through some overnight hot spots in Cape May. If you're lucky like we were, you'll come across this enchanting inn located just a few blocks from the main shopping district, the beach and close to 3.2 million great places to eat! On Friday I reached John, half of an incredible team who owns this charming house on Columbia Ave., and he immediately made me feel that I had made the right choice in calling him. In the off chance we were to get into town early, could we still check in before two p.m.? Of course! When walking into this three story slice of history, you know that there is love poured into this business. The house was built in 1876 and over the years has seen many changes and lots of the kind of care that every proud home owner knows. Inside is decorated meticulously and leaves you feeling all at once relaxed and comfortable. A large dining table and a wrap around porch with many comfortable chairs beckon to you to come, sit and enjoy at the wine and cheese hour from four to five p.m. Strike up a conversation with John and you feel like you've made a new friend within minutes. Smart, hard working and family oriented- and pours all of this into his business. Each room in the house is unique and since there were two rooms available, we were given our choice of room three and four. We chose three because of the stained glass windows and the claw foot tub in the bath (pictures from a previous review do the room justice). Houses in those days were built solid and as such, the room was very quiet and we never heard another guest. On our door when we went out for dinner in the evening was a card asking what we would like for breakfast. Choices included fresh fruit, muffins, french toast and more. Breakfast started at 8am for coffee and muffins followed by a sit down breakfast with all of the other guests at 8:30. There's nothing like breaking bread with strangers in the morning over a cup of coffee to start your day off right. We met some interesting people and John was always eager to please his guests by bringing and clearing plates and joining in the flowing conversation. My only wish was that we had come down for more than just one night. Do yourself a favor when booking a trip to Cape May and consider the Bacchus Inn- you'll be glad you did!!!!

Wine and cheese served every afternoon in the parlor of a Victorian inn? Yes, please! The Bacchus Inn is a top notch painted lady or Victorian home in beautiful Cape May. Hosts John and Lisa provide top service to their guests, whether it be to recommend a restaurant or day trip or serving up their wonderful and creative breakfasts each morning. The Inn's properties consist of the Main House and The Cottage, where my husband and I stayed. Each room has a wine inspired name. We were in the Pinot Noir room. The period antiques and cozy parlor are inviting. There are beach towels and bikes provided for each room. The inn is within walking distance of the beach and the many restaurants in the heart of town. We truly enjoyed our four day stay and will be back again to this lovely B&B.

We were so pleased when we decided to spend a night at the Bacchus Inn. We loved the included use of beach cruiser bikes, tasty food, afternoon snacks, unbelievable atmosphere, and welcoming staff/owners. The breakfast was great and John and Lisa provided great tips on things to do and see in Cape May. I wish we could have stayed for a week or more, but sadly one night was all we had. If I ever go down to Cape May again, I would not stay anywhere other than the Bacchus Inn

For those looking for vintage Victorian charm, you will be pleased with this property. The location cannot be beat, the entire historic district is a very short walk. The beach is not much farther. We stayed in the Renaissance room, a very comfy and roomy king. These were definitely two of the best night's sleep we've had in recent times! The breakfast service here is really excellent with several menu choices. They will also accommodate a range of custom requests (obviously within reason). The staff was great throughout our stay and everything is well thought out. One caveat here is the no parking on premises, there are however parking options close by. We were able to get free on street parking a short walk away. Loading and unloading at the property is also easy. Highly recommend!!

For starters, the Harrison/Pharos Inn does not have a front desk. When you show up for your stay,…read moreyou are not told where to park to unload. Eventually you get out and ring a bell. Someone that is working in the back (housekeeping or kitchen staff), comes to let you in and hands you the paperwork and a quick synopsis of your stay. There is no one to help you with your bags up to the 2nd or 3rd floors. One of the reasons that I chose the Harrison was for its location. For this reason I would give the Inn 3.5 stars rather than 3, but that is not an option. The location was perfect. Close to the center of town and the beach. One could park their car and walk or bike everywhere. However, the photos are misleading. I thought that I was booking a B&B with the old home charm, but one that was also impeccably updated. The rooms had white bedding which is similar to upscale hotels, however other parts of the room were subpar. The carpets need to be replaced. In the hallways and in our room they were filthy (stained and discolored all over). The bathroom shower was a prefabricated shower unit which was underwhelming for the price, but what was most annoying was that the shower regulator was loose and difficult to adjust. The water did not warm up for a few minutes and dripped while in the off position. The TV was small and too far away for the remote to work from the bed which is the only spot in the room that you would watch it from. Perhaps it needed batteries. I suspected this stay experience was going to be different than what I am accustomed to because I was contacted a few days prior to our stay exclusively via an AI messenger. Any questions that AI could not answer, the AI messenger had to escalate the question to the front desk (which did not exist at the inn). If you want to speak with a live person instead of going back and forth with the AI messenger, you have to call the number listed on the website. You are calling a general number. The Harrison/Pharos is a part of a conglomerate of many hotels in Cape May. You must listen to all of the options, and finally pick a number to punch to hopefully speak with a person. I chose housekeeping because there was not a front desk option. I called about how to work the TV because there were no instructions. The housekeeping person was not successful at helping over the phone. We were going out to dinner and after 8PM there is no one to help or stop by. We ended up figuring out some of the issues ourselves and then gave up. In addition, the network to get on the wifi was different than what was listed in the paperwork. Maybe as AI becomes more prevalent, people will become more accepting because we are forced to. In the future, I will make sure to avoid such places as long as I can. I have been to many B&Bs in the past and one of the perks is a fantastic breakfast. The breakfast was good, but not great. The afternoon tea was ok. The cake was dry. If I were eating at a restaurant, I would not go back. We paid for early entry to the room on the day we arrived. I was told that they could take our bags if we arrived early and the room was not ready. We chose to pay to get in two hours early. This is something new to me, but I did it anyway, If we had not, I do not know what they would have done with our bags. There was no one to help. For the amount of money that we paid for the room (about $600 per night after all fees), I expected more. I chose the place because of its location, old house charm, and what I thought was its clean, updated (not dingy) insides. The photos are misleading. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Even at a lower price point for the weekend of June 19th and 20th, much of my dissatisfaction would still be warranted.

It is in a giant Victorian home, and I absolutely loved that they have kept the charm from that time period. We had booked the Decatur suite which is on the second floor. Our room was very spacious, and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud!!! The bathroom had both a standing shower and a jacuzzi tub. (I didn't use the tub so I can't comment on that). The room was very clean, as was the bathroom. We were also supplied with two super comfortable robes, which were so soft!!! The breakfast both mornings we were there was delicious, and both very different! The first morning we had a fruit salad with vanilla dressing, followed by a pineapple coconut oat bar with a side of bacon. I could have eaten the oat bar, which was similar to a baked oatmeal, all day long! It wasn't too sweet, and had the perfect amount of fruit. Our second morning, we had a brûlée banana with fresh berries and Chantilly cream followed by an egg and sausage casserole. It was SO good!!! Amy definitely does an amazing job with breakfast. The little touches that added a lot for me was the Bloody Mary bar at breakfast. I love a good Bloody Mary and The Mason Cottage provides all the fixings to make that happen. Also, in the afternoon from 3pm-4pm they put out some light snacks. We had cheese and crackers the first day, with these amazing creme brûlée tarts, our second day we had chips and salsa, an herb dip, and freshly baked cookies. The location is also phenomenal, you are one block from the beach, and one block from shopping! I am looking forward to our next trip, and we will definitely be staying at The Mason Cottage!
