Stayed at the Harrison on a recent spring Cape May weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and can easily recommend this B&B. For those looking for vintage Victorian charm, you will be pleased with this property. The location cannot be beat, the entire historic district is a very short walk. The beach is not much farther. We stayed in the Renaissance room, a very comfy and roomy king. These were definitely two of the best night's sleep we've had in recent times! The breakfast service here is really excellent with several menu choices. They will also accommodate a range of custom requests (obviously within reason). The staff was great throughout our stay and everything is well thought out. One caveat here is the no parking on premises, there are however parking options close by. We were able to get free on street parking a short walk away. Loading and unloading at the property is also easy. Highly recommend!! read more

For starters, the Harrison/Pharos Inn does not have a front desk. When you show up for your stay, you are not told where to park to unload. Eventually you get out and ring a bell. Someone that is working in the back (housekeeping or kitchen staff), comes to let you in and hands you the paperwork and a quick synopsis of your stay. There is no one to help you with your bags up to the 2nd or 3rd floors. One of the reasons that I chose the Harrison was for its location. For this reason I would give the Inn 3.5 stars rather than 3, but that is not an option. The location was perfect. Close to the center of town and the beach. One could park their car and walk or bike everywhere. However, the photos are misleading. I thought that I was booking a B&B with the old home charm, but one that was also impeccably updated. The rooms had white bedding which is similar to upscale hotels, however other parts of the room were subpar. The carpets need to be replaced. In the hallways and in our room they were filthy (stained and discolored all over). The bathroom shower was a prefabricated shower unit which was underwhelming for the price, but what was most annoying was that the shower regulator was loose and difficult to adjust. The water did not warm up for a few minutes and dripped while in the off position. The TV was small and too far away for the remote to work from the bed which is the only spot in the room that you would watch it from. Perhaps it needed batteries. I suspected this stay experience was going to be different than what I am accustomed to because I was contacted a few days prior to our stay exclusively via an AI messenger. Any questions that AI could not answer, the AI messenger had to escalate the question to the front desk (which did not exist at the inn). If you want to speak with a live person instead of going back and forth with the AI messenger, you have to call the number listed on the website. You are calling a general number. The Harrison/Pharos is a part of a conglomerate of many hotels in Cape May. You must listen to all of the options, and finally pick a number to punch to hopefully speak with a person. I chose housekeeping because there was not a front desk option. I called about how to work the TV because there were no instructions. The housekeeping person was not successful at helping over the phone. We were going out to dinner and after 8PM there is no one to help or stop by. We ended up figuring out some of the issues ourselves and then gave up. In addition, the network to get on the wifi was different than what was listed in the paperwork. Maybe as AI becomes more prevalent, people will become more accepting because we are forced to. In the future, I will make sure to avoid such places as long as I can. I have been to many B&Bs in the past and one of the perks is a fantastic breakfast. The breakfast was good, but not great. The afternoon tea was ok. The cake was dry. If I were eating at a restaurant, I would not go back. We paid for early entry to the room on the day we arrived. I was told that they could take our bags if we arrived early and the room was not ready. We chose to pay to get in two hours early. This is something new to me, but I did it anyway, If we had not, I do not know what they would have done with our bags. There was no one to help. For the amount of money that we paid for the room (about $600 per night after all fees), I expected more. I chose the place because of its location, old house charm, and what I thought was its clean, updated (not dingy) insides. The photos are misleading. Definitely not worth the price we paid. Even at a lower price point for the weekend of June 19th and 20th, much of my dissatisfaction would still be warranted. read more

Enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at this B&B in August. This place has a main house & a secondary one next door called Pharos. Our room was on the second floor of the Pharos building called Summer Station. First off, the location of this place is perfect - a block from the beach & 2 blocks from the main Washington street mall. The parking....well - that is the worst thing about this place - you have to find your own parking or park in a lot far away with a pass. This place is very clean & the room was perfect for us. The shower in my room was very small so that & the parking are the only negatives. Enjoyed breakfast - boy are they large! Umbrella's are provided for when you need them along w/Beach bags, towels, & chairs. Bikes are located in the back for your use. Really - a great place to stay - definitely I recommend this B&B! read more

The only problem with this B&B is that it ruins you for other B&Bs for the rest of your life (except maybe for other properties that the owners Andrew and Kelly own in Cape May). I'm not kidding. It's so friendly and beautifully decorated that you will compare every other properties to this one and you'll be disappointed. We discovered The Harrison in 2016 and have been coming back every year since in our anniversary. This year, we brought friends to stay with us. The house is a beautifully renovated with white paint covering the gloomy dark wood you find in other Victorian houses. The owner's interior design company, Evan James, really has a remarkable eye for design and decorating, really rivaling anything on HGTV! Lodging: rooms are small, but luxurious. Each bathroom is fully renovated with marble floors and beautiful vanities. The rooms are beautifully decorated with glamorous wallpaper and sparkly/furry pillows. Food: Breakfast is served from 8-10 and each day you get a choice of savory or sweet. Yeah, it's as amazing as the pics look. Afternoon tea is served every day from 4-5 pm, with a scone or cake and homemade cookies. Port and sherry and tea/coffee are available in the pantry, as well as sodas and water in the fridge available 24/7. The staff are also wonderful- Jean has been there in the house through several owners and is full of fun energy! She even sings and dances :)! Susan is also a wonderful host. If you're looking for a romantic weekend away and want to be spoiled, this is the place for you! read more

This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I think I've ruined bed and breakfasts for myself for the rest of my life. I'm not sure that another B&B can live up to my experience at The Harrison. My fiancé and I came into Cape May about 2 hours prior to check-in. We rang the door bell and was greeted warmly by one of the women who work there. She happily said we could keep our bags then suggested we could go to the beach while we waited for our room to be ready. She gave us two beach towels, told us that there were bikes and chairs for use. It was such a warm reception, I was already impressed! Upon entering the main parlor room, I was already taken by the beautiful decor of the parlor and dining areas where they have the afternoon tea and breakfast. I would call the decor like a shabby chic a little more higher end. I loved it. When we finished killing time around Cape May (which, if you've never been, is so lovely), we came back and were given a nice tour of the amenities offered, as well as our room. Our room is in 'Pharos' which is the house next door to the Harrison. There is a nice little kitchen that has water, soda, coffee, tea available 24/7 and there is an adorable little shop that has a mix of beautiful items for purchase. We were told afternoon tea is from 4-5 and breakfast is served every morning from 8-10. I loved our room and although it was small (we stayed in the Mason Dixon), I found it beautiful and still roomy with the full bath and high ceilings. Each room has its own bathroom and own a/c unit, which made the stay very comfortable. It's also very quiet. I didn't hear anything outside (it's located on a fairly busy street) and the only noise I heard from my neighbors is when they opened and closed their doors (which is the same as in a hotel). It was so comfortable and cozy, I slept like a baby, which is very rare for me. I felt like I was waking up in my own bed. Of course, the decor in the room follows that of the rest of the place and is shabby chic and beautiful. It was also very clean, which is greatly appreciated. Food! I love talking about food. I love tasting food. I love eating food. I wish The Harrison was more than just a B&B. I wish it was a B&BLD (bed & breakfast, lunch and dinner). The breakfast was delicious! I had a baked oatmeal with peaches that was sweet but balanced perfectly with the sausages served with it that I ate it slowly to savor each bite because I didn't want it to end. The afternoon tea was nice, having little snacks (iced tea, hot tea, coffee, lemonade, cakes, cobbler, fruit- I think it's different daily) and refreshing having the drinks. I spiked my iced tea with some of the readily available liquor and it tasted divine. Our stay was so lovely, we didn't want to leave and I find myself wishing I was still there. We stayed in the Presidential Suite in the Pharos at the Harrison this past May for a long weekend. It was fantastic... the staff and the owner were quite friendly, making it a point to talk to all of the guests. The room was comfortable, with a fantastic bed and shower. The AC worked well. In both the Pharos and the main house, there was a sitting room with sherry and cognac (I think) and a porch to sit on. In the main house, they served an amazing breakfast (the day before, you select between a savory and a sweet dish) and afternoon tea. We tried not to miss a single one because everything was so good. It is very centrally located, with just a block or two from the beach and downtown. It was the perfect long weekend and I certainly hope we will be back in the future! read more

We stayed at the Pharos at the Harrison over an extended weekend for a Birthday milestone. From the moment we arrived, we were in love. Although it was off-season we never felt neglected by the staff. The hospitality was top-notch and genuine kindness from Kris and Kamala made us feel very welcomed. Everything was extremely clean. The brand new Royalton room was outstanding. The room included a wet bar with a fridge and wine cooler, a fireplace, 2 tvs, a sitting area, a phenomenal bathroom with a jet tub and a private entrance with a sitting area in the garden. This is a prime location within walking distance to the beach and mall. Breakfast and afternoon tea were delicious and a very nice touch. We highly recommend the Pharos and will certainly return to any of the Cape Collection B&Bs. read more

WOW! This place is the real deal, what you see and read about it is really what you get. My wife and I got a gift card for a few nights and came for our 4 year anniversary. It was our first time staying in a B&B and it did not disappoint. Where do I even start... We stayed in the renaissance room and it was beautiful. Amenities in the room were great, the room was extremely clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The thing my wife loved the most was the tea time they hosted every afternoon. They had a wide variety of teas/coffee and the pastries were delightful. We both loved that they offered free vintage beach bikes with locks to ride around town! However, my favorite thing was the breakfast they offered. I had options, it tasted good, and it was a work of art. This place is pricey without a gift card but if you have the money #TreatYoSelf. My partner and I stayed here for a week, and we loved our time here! Everything is so clean, the hospitality is extremely considerate, and the free breakfast and service was so wonderful. We have stayed at Airbnb's in the past and this was our first time staying at the Harrison; we will definitely be back. Phenomenal and memorable experience from start to finish! The manager Kris was so gracious and personable from my very first interaction booking the room to my arrival, and departure. Plus the rest of the staff - Maria and Carla were so friendly and helpful with giving us tips and recommendations around town. The breakfast each day was upscale and offered gluten free options as well. The afternoon tea experience was lovely and had a mix of savory to sweet items for all to choose from. The amenities included everything we needed to enjoy the beach, plus bikes for leisurely rides in the morning. Lastly the location can't be beat- from being a block away from the ocean, and so close to the heart of town- we had one of our best vacations to date! The most beautiful B&B I've ever visited. We stayed at the Harrison-Pharos in the Atlantic room. Every corner of the room (and the whole B&B for that matter) was so lovely and luxuriously appointed. We really did not want for anything. There were bicycles and beach chairs and towels, a fridge fully stocked with beverages, plush linens as well as elegant soaps and toiletries. The beach was only a block away, not to mention several highly rated restaurants. I loved this place and would not only recommend a stay here but would certainly return again myself. They made our 24th wedding anniversary very special. read more

A total rip off. We booked the Summer Cottage or whatever it's called for two nights over Labor Day weekend. $700 a night for a less than average room at that price. Lesson learned with booking based on their website. After our stay I completed a survey at their request and my review initiated a robo response that my review was not what they hoped and they wanted to reach out to me. Have I received a reach out ?? Just 2 dishes to pick from; and both seem to be loaded with dairy, cheese, butter, cream.... Room size: 3. Very small. No room for both my husband and I seat next to each other unless in bed. No we are not heavy set . Amenties options:3.5. But cute rooms. Comfortable bed. However , free bottled water and a few choices of soda in fridge. Kinda nice as it does get hot in the summer day. Coffee in the lobby only between 8 to 10. For the price, I probably will stay elsewhere . However, if you want a very clean, tidy room, and don't mind the cost and plan to go out for breakfast with good options, Harrison is really a good option. read more

Easy to write about the Harrison - it was splendid. we arrived mid afternoon on a Weds just in time for afternoon homemade desserts and a coffee. you can certainly tell the lady of the house is an interior decorator - all the details are in order. her husband andrew is very pleasant as are the staff. the rooms are fantastic and within walking distance of restuarants, bars and the beach. we didn't want to leave, but should we return we'll go back to one of their properties. the breakfasts are fantastic!! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Harrison Memorial Day weekend while celebrating our first wedding anniversary. We were impressed by how updated and modern, yet classic the decor and rooms were! All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, especially the owners Andrew and Kelly. The breakfast each morning truly exceeded my expectations; definitely a lot of time went into preparing both the menu and the meals themselves. The location was a short waking distance to both the beach, as well as all the shops and restaurants. The B&B also had plenty of bikes for the tenants to take out (bike locks included). I stayed here for a weekend with my husband. The breakfast was delicious and more than enough for everyone. There is a warm comforting feel to this place as you enter the room. Although it has the old Victorian charm and history, it's updated features and beautiful designs gives an amazing feel for it's uniqueness. The bed was so comfortable at the Harrison. The Harrison is a B&B located in the Historical District. The excellent staff certainly elevates your experience here. They are extremely helpful and pleasant. Also, the breakfast and tea time adds to a most positive stay with its elegant set up and delicious food. We stayed at the Summer Cottage which is totally renovated with a modern bathroom and spacious shower and really great towels. A large king bed with luxurious bedding is also really nice. However, it is not a "cottage" nor a suite- but a room with two separate entrances. The cottage is attached on one side to the kitchen and the driveway is on the other. You are not permitted to park in the driveway, (a definite minus). This location is an instant alarm clock at 6:30/7 am with a car pulling out early morning and the kitchen activities. It is not a suite either-just a room with two sitting chairs at the foot of the bed. The other entrance is called a "English garden." I suggest to the innkeeper to spruce it up a bit and the outdoor cushions certainly need some cleaning. But-it is historical Cape May and compared to other rooms there, quite spacious and super new. And again, the excellent breakfast and the wonderful tea time and the excellent staff makes The Harrison Inn a definite winner. read more

This place is better than the pictures! Fantastic location (a couple of blocks from the ocean and a short walk to shops and restaurants); easy driving to Sunset beach, the lighthouse, Nature Conservancy...etc ! The B&B is actually three houses, The Harrison, next door Pharos at the Harrison and a few houses down the street Casablanca. We stayed at Pharos, breakfast is served at The Harrison, however you can use the common areas at any of the venues (this is actually very cool). The houses are well decorated, inside and out and very inviting. Not too formal at all. Rooms are very comfortable, private and well appointed. The breakfasts were very elegant and delicious. Two options are offered every morning and all were scrumptious! They seemed to have thought of everything - bikes, beach chairs, beach towels, water and soft drinks for guests.... About the only negatives I can think of are, I'm not there right now and I can see where parking might be an issue in the summer months... parking scarcity is nothing new for Atlantic Ocean beach resort towns. read more

Rooms are spotless, breakfast was delicious, and you have access to almost anything you need. The Innkeepers and staff were all exceptionally courteous and attentive. AMAZING. My boyfriend and I stayed here a couple nights for a weekend escape and it was our first B&B experience and we wanted to stay another night! Someone literally greeted us at the door as we arrived a little past check in time and was so nice explaining everything and showing us our room. Jean (I believe was the manager) was awesome! She's so down-to-earth, funny and attentive. Like someone else previously reviewed: the food here is incredible and we also wish they served lunch and dinner too! The decor is so perfect and not drab like I assumed most B&Bs would be. Walking/biking (free bikes to use!) distance to everything great: shopping, restaurants etc. We definitely want to come back when it's beach weather and I don't think we'd stay anywhere else! The owners also came and chatted with all the guests asking how everything was. All in all a classy, comfortable place, worth every penny and more! read more
