Where the fire extinguisher was supposed to be.
    Mandy H.

A Fugazi of Luxury Hotels If you only have 30 seconds to spare for this review, just take my advice: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE ILLUSION OF THIS HOTEL. If you have more time for an in depth review, please read on. The Icona Diamond Beach is listed as a four-star luxury hotel. The website has convincing photography, and the reviews have mostly five stars but it is a lie. The website has a badge declaring it a 2025 Tripadvisor Traveler's Choice award winner, which now has me questioning anything Tripadvisor recommends. Here is what went wrong: The Room and the View: We booked the Premium Studio King, one of only two rooms with "front-facing ocean views," located on the 2nd floor where they store event furniture and linens. The room was old and dirty. There were water stains in the dropped ceiling, stains on the couch, a dresser drawer wouldn't close. The ceiling fixture over the small dining table had a bulb missing. The cabinet below the sink said "fire extinguisher" but the trash can was kept there instead. The internal door flip lock was held on by one screw and there had been clear damage at the top of the door that had been painted over. The A/C unit was an old wall unit, with the plug exposed, and a musty smell. The view is blocked by the roof of the restaurant that extends below and the roof of an event space in between the building and the beach, catching garbage tossed from higher floors. The balcony is a concrete slab wide enough to fit a small chair sideways. The bathroom had an old, faded, navy blue face-towel stuffed inside the bathmat. My first thought was that they left me a rag to clean the bathroom. Then I saw the toiletries wrapped in another towel of the same poor quality and realized these were the towels they intended us to use. If there was one item I could use to prove this luxury brand was a scam, it was these disgusting towels. The window track for our blackout curtains was damaged and did not close all the way, so my husband had to use a nail clipper to MacGyver the curtains closed. The only charger for my phone near the bed was built into the lamp and broken. My phone was dead when I woke up. The bathroom floor was made of linoleum. The Private, Oceanfront Beach: Between the hotel and the water was a large pool, parking lot, outdoor event spaces, beach bar, and a large section of sand. It's roughly 500-1000 feet from the hotel to the beach. The private section is stacked with lounge chairs and it's about 300 feet wide. The water itself is framed by storm sewer pipes, so be careful where the current takes you. The Pool: One of the nicer parts of the hotel, the pool is a decent size and heated. But the towels are no bigger or better than a gym towel you'd find at 24-Hour Fitness. Small, old, used, and gross (on brand with the bathroom towels). You can order food and drinks to the pool, but good luck finding the wait staff and happy hour pricing doesn't apply to the pool, even when Mother Nature sends you winds that make it impossible to use the beach and closes the beach bar early. The Fitness Center: Is more of a fitness closet, containing one rack of dumbbells, a bike and a treadmill, a large TV (blocked view), and a water cooler (the only good thing). The Restaurant: Happy hour includes a limited number of drinks and only applies if you're at the bar. Happy hour food choices are limited to "kids' chicken nuggets" and "a hot dog." Breakfast is supposed to go until 2 p.m. but they ran out of potatoes by noon, so I was forced to substitute with fries or order something else. The Service: 5 minutes after checking, I got a text asking me to rate my stay from 1-10. After seeing the room, I decided I would rate it a 6. Within 48 hours it dropped to a 1, and I vowed to share my experience far and wide to help others avoid wasting their money. If only I had more character space for this review. Just know that the staff knew we were unhappy and never once apologized or tried to accommodate us. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again, if it were free. Don't let the name or website fool you.

My husband and I came here 2 years ago and loved it so much we decided to visit again. Unfortunately this visit was not great. Although we booked the same room style, we were put in an outdated version with a sketchy bathroom. The ceiling tiles were not on properly and the bathtub was gross. What put the nail in the coffin was the roach on the wall right next to me!! I was totally grossed out and afraid of taking one home. The one good thing I can say was the staff was very nice.

The private beach is beautiful. The young men set up our umbrellas, our lounge chairs and gave us each a beach towel. Everyday when we were on the beach , they were friendly and smiled. Alex , Nick & Christian made our beach days so much more pleasant

Last weekend we stayed at Icona for our friend's wedding. The hotel is beautiful and is right on the beach. Each room has a balcony. The pool looked a little small, but you have access to a beautiful private beach. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful! The rooms are clean and the bar makes great drinks. Our friends' wedding was held in the reception hall on the third floor. It has beautiful floor to ceiling windows and the one wall opens to a large balcony that faces the beach. The food was also very well prepared. Wildwood Crest is a dry town and the hotel bar closes around 11. Hit the liquor store on your way in!

It is more of a fine dining experience. Their appetizers are on the smaller side so you don't fill up with them. I had the steak tartar which was very tasty and unique to others I've had. For my main I had rabbit Ragu with homemade pasta that was perfect and the sauce it was cooked in was so tasty and I greatly enjoyed it. Finished the meal with desert which was apple cobbler. It also was very nice that they had a live piano player that would take song requests.

It's easy to get to all the shops and eateries, but you aren't right in the thick of everything, which made for a more calm and relaxing stay. The hotel has complimentary bikes, and we were able to bike to town in just a few minutes. The hotel is small and there are only a few guestrooms. We stayed on the top floor and our window had ocean views which was such a treat. I was worried about the room being hot but the AC was extremely strong. Rooms are a bit dated and the carpet really needs to be replaced. The bed is super comfy and the bathroom is more updated, but new carpet would really make the room - the current carpet is like a funky green. We had to try the restaurant since it gets such great reviews and it definitely lived up to the hype. The lobster fra diavolo was sooo good and came with so much lobster meat. Breakfast is included in the stay and was so delicious. They have a screened in porch that overlooks the ocean and there's really no better way to start off your day. Everyone that works here is friendly and helpful, and there are little cute touches like complimentary drinks and snacks, a wine and cheese hour and beach items like umbrellas and chairs. Overall this is a super cute hotel - it's classy and beautiful and the perfect backdrop for photos, and the oceanfront location is prime.

It was not clear on the website when making reservations that the menus posted were not for the igloos. Even items we asked about on the menus provided were not available (menu said available until 3 pm in igloo, it was 200 but still told no- yet we also couldn't get the steak or rockfish in the igloo. As well, previous igloo visit options provided fondue for 2 (not 5!) and could be altered for one meat and one seafood eater however this time we would've had to at $240 to get both. At minimum $120+$10-$12 extra to add one skewer. Although the ambiance is an "experience" it was not a satisfying culinary experience. As well, it was not clear we couldn't divide our checks up amongst each couple as most all restaurants can do. (Can only do 2 checks, we had 3 couples) It was more cumbersome on the waitress and us than just charging each couple one bill, we weren't sharing food or said put half this on each etc. it was clearly just 3 couples. As for what we did get... if crab dip hadn't had a shell in it I wouldn't have believed it had any crab in it, just cheese flavor. Steak skewer was well done (no choice given) yet veggies were aldente (to say the least). Wine was good but limited selection. I really don't understand why I can eat one think inside yet can't 20' away we would've had a much better experience if some accommodating had been offered on any of the above issues.

The food was hit or miss - starting with the good, the sausage board was tasty but more of a snack situation and the flatbread looked delicious (and my family said it tasted delicious too) but they were out of all the gluten free options unfortunately. The cheese board was definitely the biggest disappointment - it was $50 and came out just lumped with cheese and meat on two boards. For the price I was expecting something special with the accompaniments they mentioned but it was one of the most basic boards I've been served. The cheeses were okay and same with the meats, no prosciutto or fruit or really anything to warrant the $50. Bummer since you want cheese with your wine!

What a beautiful mansion with impeccable grounds & an inviting porch to lounge around on! When selecting your room, if the room is not on the first floor, note that the stairs are quite steep & can be a little difficult to navigate if you are carrying a lot of things or wearing high heels! We stayed in the famous Red Room on the second floor, room 3. It was a lovely room with very high ceiling & a very unusual painting. The bed was very comfortable & I liked that we could control the temperature in our room. The sink for the bathroom is outside the bathroom with hardly any countertop just so you know. Excellent breakfast - you do have to make your selection the night before which is a little difficult since sometimes I want something different when I wake up. food was very good & excellent service. I think a fire pit would be a great thing to add to the property. Other than that, we had an enjoyable experience & I greatly recommend this place!

In our most recent visit we observed the following: 1. Our shower was not as clean as it should be. The grout was black in some areas. 2. There were quite a few areas below the roofline that had rotted wood. 3. Rotted wood was also noticed on the bottom of the siding near the foundation. 4. We found the yellow paint on part of the building vs. the faded paint on the remainder of the building In desperate need of a new paint job. 5. There are missing roof tiles. 6. The gardens that were once beautiful were full of weeds and dried up flowers. It seems that management is restricting watering of the flowers. 7. The outside shower was filthy, it was smelly and the mold was disgusting in the once beautiful shower. 8. The breakfast was not very good and the cook got the order wrong. 9. The lighting that once lit the outline of the buildings are no longer used in the evening. It appears that the owner lost interest in this property and is probably going to sell it. To run it into the ground and in doing so alienating many loyal customers is not just bad business it's a slap in the face to the many families who year after year support this business I am being generous when I say this is a 3 star hotel at best Sorry to say it but we will return.

This little Donald Ross Design has a really nice practice facility including a full length range, short game area to practice your 120 yard wedge game and in and also a chipping green complete with bunkers. Upon walking through the clubhouse and out to the first tee you're greeted by a very helpful staff and a nicely stocked pro shop. The first tee really sets you up with what you'll see while out there for your round. A well maintained tee with tree lined and well defined fairways and the requirement tom move the ball off the tee one way or another. Slightly errant shots easily get you into tree trouble and very errant shots will find lots of trouble. One of the things I don't like here is the use of out of bounds within the property. I understand from a safety point of view why this is done but a hole like the par 5 12th having OB in the left trees (which plays adjacent to the 11th hole) and OB in the right trees makes this hole just dumb. It's already the narrowest driving hole on the course and that OB just makes it even more ridiculous. On top of this issue, getting home in 2 is not really an option because of a strategically placed tree that prevents a quality look into the green. Realistically you need to play this hole 200-225 off the tee, 190-210 for your second and 100 in to have any real chance to score. Leave the driver in the bag. The greens here at Wildwood are superb. Rolling fast and true they are a real treat to play and putt especially if you have any experience with Donald Ross greens, you'll really like them ALOT! Unfortunately for me my day did not include dining at the club so I can't speak for the food or service of the restaurant stuff but the outdoor patio overlooking the practice putting green in the short game area with a nice little view of the first tee does seem like a very nice place to get lunch after your round or come out for a relaxing bite to eat. Wildwood is a really nice golfing experience with fantastic greens and some quirky tee shots. A little course knowledge is a must to score and patience on the greens is a virtue, but that 12th hole is a drag and some of the hidden hazards that can gobble up a seemingly quality tee shot can upset an otherwise good day of golf and beware of the windy days!
