We've been coming here for 5 years and have experienced a lot of problems. Totally abused by their restaurant which they claimed no responsibility for even though it is their hotel restaurant. There is only one elevator which causes a lot of waiting and sometimes its broken and when you come home from dinner and drinks you have to climb 6 flights of stairs. What's really bothering me this year is all the families with small kids. They take up so much space and make so much noise. Im sure they're all piled into one room and paying the same I am not able to sit at the pool, which is why I come because they let the families take over and run the hotel. I dont know which is worse the annoying kids or their drunk parents doing a shitty job watching them. I saw a drunk man throw and break his kids ipad at the pool and then the grandma came over and there was a fight. I wish these dysfunctional families would just stay home and leave the rest of us to enjoy our vacation or that the hotel would do something to show the hotel values all their guests The showers are shockingly shitty. No full wall to prevent the entire bathroom from flooding when you use it. No water pressure which is especially awful when coming back from the pool or beach. I forget every year just how shitty they are. The restaurant experience was already bad enough last year but with the pool and elevator problems id rather spend more money. After being a long standing customer, 10+ years I was insulted by a $100 credit for them providing me with a pullout bed for my child and her friend covered in blood and what looked like human excrement. I asked management (Mike) to do better and they wouldn't. It was noticed until 11PM when we were going to bed. The front desk was mortified and helpful but after seeing that the girls were skeeved out and hardly slept. This hotel is oceanfront, so you absolutely cannot beat the location. It's also only a 10 minute walk into town. Plus the pool is sweet. There's a nice outdoor bar and they have live music on the weekends. Our room was also spacious and modern with comfortable beds and an amazing balcony with an ocean view. Only reason I'm taking off a star is because they are strict with their guest policy. We had 4 in a room with two queens (which feels normal to do for a trip with friends), and felt like they gave us a weird attitude about it. They also told us we could only keep one car in the lot because the hotel was full. All the while, there were plenty of open spaces in the lot. I think the perk of paying to stay at a hotel with a parking lot is not having to find street parking, so as paying customers we did not appreciate this. There are lots of hotels in Cape May so it can be a bit overwhelming to choose, but I would definitely keep Ocean Club in mind for a future stay. read more

We stayed here for two nights in June and enjoyed our stay. We were allowed access to the pool and the parking lot prior to check in which was nice. The pool had live music and lounge chairs with umbrellas. We were able to order lunch and drinks right by the pool while we waited for our room. The room at itself was spacious and had an ocean view and balcony. We were right over the pool, so it was a little loud with the patio door open but overall it was a very nice. On our second day, we walked to the beach, which is right in front of the hotel, and were able to once again get lounge chairs and an umbrella courtesy of the hotel. It is a bit of a walk to the downtown area and some of the restaurants but it beats a bed-and-breakfast any day. read more

I would give 20 stars if I could. I was not in town under the best circumstances and the staff here treated me and my family with overwhelming compassion, empathy and care. To be able to be personable and professional at the same time is not something that can be taught, you either have it or you don't. Everyone here has it! The cleanliness and beautiful rooms are just a perk. Not only is the staff like this with the guests, but also with one another. It's a great thing to see in today's world. Even if I find a better deal elsewhere, I will gladly pay more to stay here! Thank you to the staff, the management and the owners for such a caring and safe environment. We just got back from a mini vacation of 4 days, 3 nights. We had a blast. Great weather, great location, great venue, beautiful views. The resort is pricey but about the same as any there with amazing views. I opted to spring for a 6th floor penthouse room, oceanfront. I figure I'm going to the ocean. I want to hear it, see it, smell it. I'm going to put up a bazillion photos. The rooms are a tiny bit dated but not bad. Kind of dark but we were only there to sleep. We spent time on the balcony when we weren't at the pool, beach, out to dinner, seeing sights. The rooms were well kept and clean. Great tiki bar. Great drinks. Great breakfasts at the Salt Grass restaurant. We didn't eat dinner there and regret not choosing it for one of the nights. The pool was to die for. Pool service was fabulous. Once you choose your spot, Sammi comes by to set up your towels and put up your umbrella if you so desire. I swam a lot. It was never overcrowded and it was very warm. You can order drinks and food poolside. There is food service on the beach but not drink service. We would go from pool to beach to pool and walk the beach again at night. Beautiful reclining chairs and umbrellas are provided on the beach, complimentary. You don't even have to bring beach chairs. I loved that! I'm only giving it a 4 instead of a 5 because the bathroom was teeny tiny. Not much room on the sink to put toiletries. No room to store toiletries not in use. Hard to even turn around. Usually stay at The Le Mer down the road, always looked at this Hotel whenever we were in town and gave it a try this time, after speaking to Mike D the manager on the phone, my wife , son, and his girlfriend took a 2 room suite which was very nice, rooms very modern, 2 Flat screen TVs and a beautiful terrace view of the beach, got there on Saturday music was playing by the pool, Tiki bar was lively, very nice vibe, they supplied beach passes and chairs, so nice we decided to spend an extra day, once again Mike D, managed to handle all our accommodations, we will be back read more

King Side Ocean View Room- Don't be fooled! If you are on the right side of the hotel, 3rd floor or below, you will NOT have any sort of ocean view. We were charged the additional cost for this "side view" and even showed the front desk a picture of our view- the wall and A/C unit of the neighboring building. They did nothing. The first person we talked to actually was extremely condescending. We explained if we were a floor higher, we wouldn't have an issue. We suggested they simply refund us the difference for the price of a room with no ocean view, and they wouldn't help us. When checking out, we asked the front desk to speak to a manager about this, they said they would definitely have someone contact us. It's been over 2 weeks and nothing. We aren't surprised. This hotel was WAY overpriced for what you get. Location to the beach was decent, but it is FAR walking distance from everything else in downtown Cape May. It honestly feels like you are staying in a roadside motel with an expensive coat of paint on it. One night, it was raining as we were leaving to walk to dinner. We asked the front desk if they had an umbrella to borrow. His response? "We had one at the beginning of the year, but don't anymore." So...why did you only have ONE? And why didn't you replace it?! Perfect laughable moment that really speaks to the "quality" of the hotel. These things combined with the unhelpful staff, made sure we won't EVER come back. I suggest staying at Congress Hall, Virginia Hotel, or a B&B...those seemed fabulous. read more

I only stayed one night since I was in town for the Hallowed Half Marathon. It's a great location with great views and easy access to the beaches. The room rate was very reasonable only because it was off season. They offer a nice tiki bar, trendy restaurant, and pool. Very trendy vibe upon entering. I had a nice large comfortable suite with an enclosed exterior corridor entrance. Everything worked well except for the drain in the tub. It didn't drain quickly and during showers, it would seem like you were taking a bath. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Parking was located in the rear of the hotel and it was included in my rate. Always a plus. I would recommend. read more

Spent Labor Day in Cape May and as we know Cape May never fails to impress. I spent at least a $1000.00 dollars on the beach using the chairs, umbrella's and eating lunches provided by this motel. As the day ended on Sunday, I went to their pool bar to order a drink and close out my tab. Some guy walked up to me and said get out, if you are not staying here you can't drink here. I said okay, I closed out my tab, showed him the $300 bill and said WE will never be back. I guess I got even because I wouldn't leave a tip, I told the bartender's to thank the idiot at the gate. read more

We decided to take a vacation this year and had limited choices of locations because of our last minute booking, so we were very worried about this stay. While I will agree that this place is pricey, considering the amenities (probably the only reason that we didn't give it 5 stars), I have to say that we had a great time here and the STAFF WAS EXCELLENT! They accommodated every request with without fuss. The young man at the front desk was able to provide us a different room, on a higher floor. Our room was expertly cleaned by Dolores, daily. Our king size bed was very comfortable. The Sea Salt restaurant had great food (although our lunch we had was very expensive) I do think that $80 for two appetizers and a couple drinks, was a bit much. However, our dinner the next night, was fantastic. Even though the weather was horrible for most of our stay (obviously no ones fault), I would have to recommend this hotel. read more

This place is 5 Stars all the way. In life you get what you pay for and although a bit expensive, everything is first class. From the beach chairs and umbrellas provided to the pool amenities, everything here is provided for you. Just pack your bags and leave everything to them. The rooms are very nice allowing easily for a family of 4. We never get crammed or on top of each other. Balconies look right over the water ... be sure to be above the 2nd floor.... Views are amazing. They serve lunch to you right on the beach which is a huge perk .... Again, a little pricy however you never have to leave the beach. Well worth it ... Everything in the hotel is super clean and well maintained. Everyone here is super nice and very helpful ... they couldn't do enough for you .... I have one small negative ... the Morning person at the reception area in the restaurant isn't very nice. Each morning when I got my cup of coffee she had this puss on her face a mile long. Almost saying to everyone ... "Don't bother me" Each day the same puss... this industry isn't for her. Lastly ... the coffee price of $4.00 per cup is very expensive ... wish they would reconsider that price. Thank you to the staff for making our vacation wonderful. read more

This is by far the best hotel in Cape May. It's really more of a resort. They provide lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels on the beach. This is not only incredibly convenient, it also makes the beach look nicer! The pool area also has towel service, the most comfortable lounge chairs, and live music (acoustic guitar or steel drums give it an island feel.) There's bar and food service at the pool, and food service at the beach. Everything is clean, modern, and comfortable. The staff is professional and well trained. Food and location are great too. The rooms are spacious and have balconies overlooking the ocean. You can fall asleep listening to the sound of the waves crash. It's paradise! read more

Having grown up close enough to go down the shore every summer, I have come to expect a certain quality that is associated with a Cape May hotel. Especially at the price point that Ocean Club sets themselves at. I have never been more disappointed in a hotel that runs more on the pricey side, per night. Our experience started with being required to put a $300 deposit for incidentals on a credit card for our stay. Mind you, we were attending for a wedding that I was in so we really only were going to be at hotel for sleeping and getting ready. We would not be using the restaurant or the tiki bar, but that was a non-negotiable for the hotel. We put the balance of the room on my card and the incidentals hold on my boyfriend's card, with the understanding that the hold would fall off his card. When we checked out, however, they put the room on his card (after already charging me for the balance, as well.) Now in fairness to Ocean Club, when I called to rectify the situation, they more than happy to help. But this should not have been an issue in the first place. Upon arriving in our room, we were pleased with the size of the room, the shower, and the king sized bed. We were quickly dismayed when we discovered that the bed creaked and sank in the middle and that the shower door was not actually a door, but a half glass wall that didn't keep the water from splashing out all over the floor. One other thing to mention in regards to the room is that the Wi-Fi, while free, was virtually non-existent. Many times we would have to disconnect and reconnect to get a usable signal. For being on vacation, you don't necessarily need to use the Wi-Fi all that often, but my boyfriend was working on homework while I was prepping for the wedding. The reconnecting became more than just a minor inconvenience to him. We also happened to be there during a rain storm, and the hallway, which has rooms on the one side and glass windows over-looking the parking lot on the other, was leaking. The leaks were so bad that there was serious puddling that was severe enough to require towels be placed along the corridor to prevent anyone from slipping. I'm sorry, if I am paying $181 (tax and fees included in this price) I expect a certain caliber from the hotel, and sadly, Ocean Club did NOT live up to our expectations. At all. read more

Beautiful, modern, beach front hotel. We stayed here for a few days and were extremely pleased with both the facilities and the service. The employees at the desk were welcoming and friendly, and helpful with our minor but random requests. The pool was never too crowded, provided you got there before noon. Really only two negative things to say: 1) at the pool, skip the food. We had the sliders and the fish tacos, and neither was enjoyable. Not bad, but I wouldn't recommend either. Drinks at the bar were good, although pricy. 2) the ultra modern hallway has a glass wall, with concrete walls and floors. This means you hear everything outside your door. Rooms to the far left and right sides have carpets in the hall, so they might be a touch more quiet. Overall, the great rooms and friendly staff would be enough for me to come back here again without hesitation. Just be prepared to spend to stay here... We were around $450 a night (plus tax and tourism fee). read more

Access to the beach was great, the beach itself was awesome and the staff on the beach was very accommodating and very gracious. Decent parking lot size, yes they have their own, which is nice if you stayed on the beach down in Cape May before you know parking is very limited and most of the time you have to walk a good distance, that's not the case here. The only thing I can think to be a negative was the rooms were a little outdated but upon leaving we were told that they are renovating the floors one by one starting from the top so I'll be anxious to see next year when we go back how they look. Definitely on the upper end of cost per night but compared to others on the beach well worth it if you can afford it! read more

Last time I was in cape may it was not nice. Like most of cape may, this is a property that was purchased and re done. It's a 1950 style 6 or so story hotel that was totally re done The rooms are very large compared with your typical Marriott hotel room anywhere. The beds are as comfortable as a Marriott product I've seen many comments about the a/c. The hvac is European design. You insert your card key into a wall device that will allow the a/c to turn on. Set it to your temp that you like. Others complained that it makes a noise when it comes on. Mine did not. But if that's an issue set the unit to a/c and to "fan" mode versus "auto" so it is constantly circulating air. The design is great bc when you leave and take your key the a/c goes off. You don't waste energy The room has coffee. The room had an awesome view of the ocean. And a nice balcony to take it all in The tiki bar, pool area is nice. The fish taco is very good. They will provide pool side or tiki side bar and food service The ocean is across the street. The town makes you buy a tag to use it. Once on the beach the hotel has staff that will set you up with towels, chairs and umbrellas. I'm super picky about where I stay. I'd give this a 5 star but I'm a Marriott platinum and I like my reward points and upgrades. And this isn't a Ritz. However, it's all re done. New baths. Big rooms. Great mattresses. Very cool, sexy, Miami-vibe hotel! We aren't into B&Bs at all and searched for an actual normal hotel when we stumbled upon this one. What a great find! Everything is trendy and modern without the incredibly high price tag. We booked through hotels.com. Amazing comfortable bed - we didn't want to wake up! Ocean view room. Bathroom was sleek and modern - only downfall was the odd set up of the shower door which could make you soak the floor if you weren't careful. We went during the off season so didn't experience the AC noise issues other are complaining about. Bar/restaurant downstairs that we didn't try - they had salsa night when we were stumbling in after a night out - looked semi crowded (it was around midnight) but we just got a glass of wine and went to bed. read more

To be honest, I haven't stayed here yet but plan to on my next trip to Cape May. I want to give a shout out to "Melissa" at the front desk. She is very sweet and accommodating. Unfortunately, we are staying at the "Grand" dump a few doors down that has been a nightmare. Tried to get out and they are rude and not accommodating to your needs. Now, the Ocean Club on the other hand makes me want to return to Cape May. Melissa was nice enough to give us a tour and show us the room that we are going to book our next time back. The staff at the front desk is very nice and the hotel is updated beautifully. Again, Melissa was great to talk to and even tried to help me with getting out of the dump we were in. As a service manager for many years, she is someone I would want on my team. "Ocean Club Management", she is a great asset to your business! Look forward to seeing you in the future!!! read more

I read a few bad reviews online BUT I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our room. Which online someone mentioned the rooms were very small. I have to disagree with that. They were average size. We had the pool side cabana room. I was a little nervous how the pool noise would be. Especially that I have a 1 1/2 old that takes naps in the middle of the day. Once again pleasantly surprised that the glass sliding door blocked most of the noise. The staff at the front desk was very accommodating. Stayed here with my boyfriend this past weekend and had a wonderful time. The bed was huge and comfortable, lots of pillows. The room was also very clean and reasonably spacious. The side partial view of the beach was nice, and looked into the Periwinkle Inn. Very close to the beach. Their section gave you free beach chairs, but $10 for an umbrella. The people were also very nice and helpful. Parking is included and we were even able to leave our car in the lot after we checked out while were enjoyed the beach for a couple more hours before leaving. The pool was nice with lounge chairs, complimentary towels and umbrellas. There was also a bar at one end and waiters that would serve you at your chair if you wanted. read more

Well to start, the bed was extremely uncomfortable! Yikes! My main problem was the shower. I expected a whirlpool bath for the price, okay I lived with the disappointment, but who designed the shower? No door but half a glass wall that requires a person to get into the shower before turning it on and adjusting the temperature. It varied between freezing and scalding. Okay let's talk coffee. I need it in the morning and the little Keurig machine just didn't cut it. I went down to the desk at 6:45 in order to get an early start on the day - no coffee. I had to wait until the restaurant opened at 8 or walk 3-4 blocks to a bagel shop. I enjoyed getting the umbrellas and lounges at the beach, until they took them back at 5 pm. Went to the pool it closed at 7? This is summer folks, and BTW it was freezing. I liked Cape May, but seriously I will book any future stays elsewhere. The restaurant was great, and the views were spectacular. I had no problem with the staff, they were very professional. One woman at the desk called several restaurants trying to get us seating, finally talked to the Sea Salt Restaurant and insisted they take care of her ladies! read more

I got charged around $650 for a weekend stay there for 2 Queen Beds (no suite, no microwave, no access to outdoor pool bc its April, and no indoor pool, no jacuzzi, no spa, nothing). The ocean view was fantastic. The guest services were great - we needed towels and we had a noisy neighbor, and they handled that quick. The room walls are thin so you hear everything from laughing to loud talk. In fact I even heard the phone ring in the next door room. Also the security between the doors connecting our rooms is bad, there's no lock. I just dont think its wroth the price, but it was very clean. read more
