This restaurant was across the street from The place we were staying. The ambience and the setting was perfection. The table on the porch overlooking the front garden and entrance on a beautiful evening was delightful. Then things fell apart....The menu looked yummy but the execution was lackluster. The foie gras was Not seasoned, came with a waffle the size of a quarter and was extremely disappointing. The mushroom ravioli entree was pedestrian at best. The duck l' orange lacked basic seasoning !! Unbelievable. We opted not to order dessert to prevent further disappointment . This may have been an off night for the Chef. I have been to many fine dining restaurants on both coasts - sadly this is not one I would recommend .

At Maison Bleue in Cape May, The Famous Chef Thomas was treated to a truly exquisite dining experience worthy of the highest praise. The evening began with a halibut dish that was nothing short of masterful--perfectly seared, tender, and delicately perched atop a bed of vibrant watercress salad that added both freshness and balance. The service? Impeccable. Attentive without intrusion, elegant without pretense--an ideal match for the refined yet welcoming ambiance of the restaurant. For dessert, The Famous Chef Thomas indulged in two unforgettable selections: a classic crème brûlée with a flawlessly torched sugar crust and silky custard beneath, followed by the house special--a French toast-inspired creation that redefined comfort and sophistication in a single bite. Maison Bleue is a triumph of French-inspired cuisine along the Cape May coast. Five shining stars from The Famous Chef Thomas.

We ate here over the summer. Got easy reservations 2 days before. The hostess was nice and sat us at a lovely table. The decor was beautiful with art and lights. Waitress was helpful recommending dishes. The food was delicious, I had the scallops and. My husband the filet at poivre. We split oysters for our app. My only complaint was how fast they moved us through the meal, even though they were not full. We were Driving from CT and we made an early reservation so we knew we had dinner plans. We sat at 6:02, and had had apps and finished our entrees by 6:39, we could have stayed longer and had dessert, but at $187 for a 37 min experience felt like a lot. Overall good experience, just wish for it to last longer

02/14/2024 Located in The Hugh B&B, my wife and I, my sister and brother in law all enjoyed a very nice meal... with excellent service. My wife started with the Baked South Bay Salt Oysters, which she raved about for days after. I had the beet salad. Good, but no raving happening. My wife and I both had the Bouillabaisse, which was terrific. My SIL had the Duck l'orange, while my BIL had a 'pasta of the day'. It's a little tight sitting where we were, but the service was terrific. We were a little disappointed that there was no decaf coffee to be had. Not sure if they were out, but it seemed more like decaf just wasn't on the menu. Make plans for this wonderful BYOB restaurant.

Enjoyed a lovely dinner . I had the Duck which I thoroughly enjoyed. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable. The dining room is small, but cleverly decorated. Overall a very good dining experience; currently scheduling our return visit

Moody upscale dining right in downtown Cape May! This brand new spot features fancy French cuisine - something the town was lacking before! I would definitely recommend for a date night or fancy and romantic evening! We started with the steak tartare, which was heavily seasoned with herbs and Dijon, but that I enjoyed nonetheless. The wagyu cheeseburger was delicious. The coq au vin was super flavorful and gigantic! And the prime strip steak's Maitre D'Hotel butter was unforgettable. The definitely know how to do fresh RIGHT! Absolutely on the higher end price wise, and they're still working out some kinks with service, but overall I would still recommend for the only French on the beach and the romantic vibes!

This place was amazing, to die for. This is a must eat place in cape may, just make sure you reserve in advance of going. Everything from here tasted amazing. The tuna tartare was so fresh as well at the chips that came with it. The potato leek soup was so rich and and light at the same time. I would get this again. The muscles and fries were humongous, I definitely should of gotten less appetizers. I would get this again as well, the fries were super crispy and I got it as truffled flavor which was amazing. The muscles were fresh too This is a great date night spot!

The service was great and all the food was exceptional. The beans with the duck confit was a little salty but still good. Such a nice place!

This was the best dinner I've had in such a long while. Very unique dishes on the menu and my meal was delicious. The Endive Salad was tasty. A unusual blend of ingredients. My main course was Fluke cooked with a butter almond sauce and served with roasted potatoes, brussel sprouts and a sweet potato purée.

It was quite chilly while we visited Cape May so we really wanted to sit inside. First, the positive: The place is clean and the staff is nice. The Lobster Roll is delicious and the Shrimp Cesar Salad tasted good, but this is also where it goes bad. It is a huge salad and only had 3 shrimp. The cost of the salad is the same as the Lobster Roll. There is no way a salad should cost 26.99 and only have 3 shrimp. A pound of shrimp market value is approximately $25.99 depending on size & location. When it was expressed to our server, she quoted market price increases and that we could order more shrimp at an upcharge. If market price for shrimp is that bad, take it off the menu or offer alternatives like adding chicken that won't result in an upcharge or advise your customers upon ordering that they'd only get 3 shrimp. Hubs probably would have ordered something else. It's Cape May Fish Market so they should be upfront about their seafood. I didn't really care for the fact that we asked about it and were brushed off. While we'll definitely return to Cape May, we may not return here. .

Reservations are a must and don't forget to BYOB. The vibes are quaint with a very small indoor dining room and an outdoor patio that's a bit larger. I'm really glad we requested a table outside, because the patio was so nice on a warm summer evening. What we ate -- started things off with mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad (on special) and kale cesar. All produce is sourced locally from Beach Plum Farm and both dishes were fab. For our main we shared crab cakes and scallops. Both were so fresh and came with a large portion. Every entree comes with brown rice and house cabbage slaw. Reviews will mention that this is pretty plain, but with the fresh seafood and dipping sauces it's really the perfect accompaniment. The scallops came with a delicious sweet ginger sauce and the crab cakes came with a creamy lemony tartar sauce. The decor is fun and kitschy and the inflatable whale in the bathroom tub made me laugh. Don't forget to grab a chocolate bar at the Louisa's chocolate shop which is adjacent to the restaurant. I'll be thinking about this meal for a while.

Lobster rolls here are cheap compared to ones in other states especially CA. $19 per roll is pretty good. Each roll is pretty small you can say like average size pretty much just like everywhere else with this economy (all lobster rolls shrunk after Covid). They are generous with the chunks of lobster though and it's so juicy and fresh! I also ordered the lobster bisque and that was great too. Bisque had lots of big chunks of lobster and it was creamy how I like it. The fries were big slices of fries and also fresh and yummy. The only thing I can say I wasn't happy about was no Tabasco no hot sauce of any kind! What???!!! I love my Tabasco with all my seafood and it was a disappointment to not be able to enjoy my seafood the way I always do.

You want really, really, really, really good lobster rolls???? Here it is!…read more Prior to visiting Cape May, I did a little research on the food scene and Quincy's immediately came up. At first, we were targeting their Washington Street Mall location, but we realized it wasn't their original spot as the original location was on Beach Ave, just a few blocks away. With Washington Street Mall being so busy and packed, we figured we'd give the original location a try instead since it was away from the buzz of the Mall area. This location was right across from the Cape May convention center, but the strip that the shop was part of was pretty dingy. The tables and chairs outside were all very dirty so make sure to give them a good wipe down first. When we arrived for an early dinner at 5PM on the Friday before Labor Day, we were surprised to see quite a few families sitting at the outdoor tables. How could that be???? It was ONLY 5PM! Luckily, they all finished quickly and we were able to snag a table outside. But there were other tables belonging to other establishments there that were free though. This location of Quincy's was as no frills as it got. It was slightly bigger than a hole in the wall with no indoor seating what so ever. All of the tables and seats were outside and there were only a few. After taking a gander at the menu, we ordered 1 Classic Roll, 1 Connecticut Roll, 1 Lobster Mac and Cheese and 1 Lobster Bisque. Let me just say, I haven't had a lobster roll in a longgggg time, but it was well worth the wait and more. All of the lobster in the rolls were so fresh and delicious. I easily could have eaten 3 of them by myself, but, unfortunately I only had 1. The Lobster Bisque and Lobster Mac & Cheese were very good too, but the Lobster rolls definitely had me wanting much, much more. One thing to note when dining outside is BEWARE OF THE SEAGULLS. Yes, they love lobster too (who or what doesn't????) and they will occasionally fly and land in the vicinity looking for food, so just keep a close eye on your food. As for parking, unfortunately, it's all street parking as Quincy's doesn't have a lot like so many of the Beach Ave establishments. However, if you decide to walk away from the Mall area, Quincy's is an excellent option.

After finally finding a space, we walked up to Mad Batter, where there were already a number of people standing outside. We were a party of seven, so this wasn't looking good for us. Well, we had a Thanksgiving miracle. They had a table ready for us in less that ten minutes! The food and service here were both very good. I had the crab cake sandwich. It was very mild in flavor but still good. I recommend it, but I'll try some of their other offerings before I get it again. My sister-in-law had one of the specials, the Fried Tomato & Cracked Black Pepper Bacon Sandwich. She and my brother agreed that it was messy but delicious. The lobster mayo set it off nicely. Our server was really friendly and accommodating. She made sure we were taken well care of. We pointed out an error in the check, and she was very kind in taking care of it, and gave no attitude. I ordered the harvest salad with candied walnuts. I have no idea what candied walnuts are, so I wish the waiter asked if I had any allergies because they can SOMETIMES contain cinnamon in it and I am allergic to cinnamon. When the salad came out I started to eat the salad and noticed my throat starting to feel funny. I didn't mix the salad well so I just ate the arugula with the sauce and the chicken. Half way through I noticed there were walnuts and I took a bite of it and my throat immediately started to swell and I can feel my face and tongue getting itchy. Thank god I have my allergy medications on me, but what if the next person this happens to doesn't... We immediately told the server about my cinnamon allergy and the waiter looked at me like I was joking because I ate half of it and then asked me "So you're done with that?" and I said, "Yes I can't eat it anymore, I'm allergic to it and it's contaminated with everything else. I felt my throat starting to close up, but I am okay because I have my allergy medicine. " He asked if I wanted anything else and I said no just a hot tea to help with inflammation. I appreciate that the server was trying to help us out, but he still came back with the bill and said the owner is still going to charge me because it says candied walnuts on the menu, implying that it's my fault...I really expected this place to have better service, but looking at past reviews I can see how this place has overpriced underrated food and terrible service. They don't care about their customers and certainly just focused on making money. Hopefully after today they include that their candied walnuts have cinnamon in it! Or at the very least ask the customers if they have any allergies beforehand

For us, the biggest priority is finding truly good gluten-free food, so we can't always afford to be super picky...but this place really delivers. That said, yes... some of the front desk ladies can be a bit not-so-friendly, which isn't ideal. But beyond that, everything else has always been amazing. The food is incredible, and a huge win is that they can make certain dishes gluten-free...and actually safe for people with celiac. They're very careful about cross-contamination, and the GF dishes still taste amazing. It's BYOB (love that), and the liquor store is conveniently right down the block. Parking can be tough, so we always just park in the ACME lot next door. It's super convenient even though it costs around $10-$15 when you're there for over an hour. The servers are kind, the ambiance is lovely...not overly fancy, but absolutely nice enough for a quality "get dressed up a bit" date night. I usually wear a dress when we go. I believe there's a cancellation fee, so definitely make a reservation, but it's worth it. Also, I saw someone complain that the staff "knows nothing about wine." It's BYOB. They only serve one in-house wine. This isn't that ultra-posh, high-end wine-service kind of place, and that's totally fine. They do what they do extremely well!
