    Crepes with Fresh Strawberries
    Leslie J.

Not one complaint. We were a group of 8 for dinner. No special occasion. My grouper was prepared exactly as requested. My crepes with fresh strawberries was light but sweet enough to end my meal. My drink was quite strong and tasty but I can't remember the name. The service is excellent. The staff is very friendly and met every request without flinching. First time here but won't be my last. Here's the place to bring someone you really want to impress when in Delaware. The entire group agreed!

My husband and I stopped in to Bon Appetit on a Friday on our way to Quantico for a weekend getaway. We were coming from Philly so Seaford was a great spot to eat on the way to the shore. The host and server were friendly and helpful. We each ordered a glass of their red blend and our meals were absolutely delicious. I had one of the daily specials for my appetizer - the fettucine alfredo with mushrooms, and my husband ordered the garlicky escargots. For dinner I ordered the baked salmon with orange beurre blanc and my husband had the broiled sea scallops with lemon and breadcrumbs. For dessert we shared the chocolate mousse per our server's suggestion, which was probably the best I ever tasted! We were even gifted a glass of champagne since I mentioned that it was our anniversary weekend. The whole experience was wonderful - cozy seating, cute decor, and great service. Totally recommend if you are in the area or passing through!

Amazing food ! And love the butter rose . I take it home every time lol

Such a unique place to dine in Seaford! The service was great, but do wish they had more vegetarian options on the menu.

We had a couple of Manhattans, Mom had a red wine and Wifey had her usual vodka and ginger ale. The baguette was delightful and it was just enough. I started with the beef tartare which was seasoned very well and was very tasty. Others had the mussels on special, and an onion soup. Entrees were also very good a trout with almonds and French beans, a pork chop ( I'll try that next time), a beef bourguignon and I had the duck cassoulet. It brought me back to the days when I was making this dish with my owner and mentor JJ Rachou at La Cote Basque. It was a perfect night for it; it delivered and I was so satisfied. The wine that was chosen was very good a French blend, it was so good we had two LOL. The dessert I chose was very nice as well a chambord cake with raspberry ( I did wish it had a touch of chocolate on it, I even asked lol, but no luck). Others had the Creme brûlée and say it was very good as well. A big thank you to the FOH staff as well as the BOH a very nice job all around. Megan Keen ( restauranteur), you have a winner here.

Hard to find an elegant restaurant like this anymore where the food and ambiance are superb. Being a bit "old-school" about fancy restaurants, I like getting dressed up and going to a place that feels special. This is the place. Not only is the food delicious, but expertly presented. An amazing bread basket that I had to refrain from eating too much as I knew my dinner would be rich and filling. Also, the cocktails are superb. Even though many restaurants now serve specialty cocktails, they don't always live up to expectations. Here at Bas Rouge they are mixed beautifully. One should be aware that, although I believe you can order al a carte, it's mainly a three/four or seven course menu. NOTE: I was extremely dismayed to see that they had foie gras on the menu. Especially seeing that this restaurant is named after I believe the owner's breed of dog that he loves, I believe foie gras, as many people do, is animal cruelty to produce. They also serve veal that again, is usually from animals confined to crates that stunt their growth. Sorry for the bummer ending, just stating what I believe is factual.

This year we decided to return for our anniversary and I'm sad to say this was our last visit to Provence. What a disappointment! We started with a $9 bread basket and the inside of the bread was frozen! We told our server and they brought us a new one at the same time as our appetizers. They really should have taken off the bill. We didn't even eat it. The appetizers (mussels, lobster ravioli, and french onion soup with mushrooms) were very good. The entrees were awful. The trout was really salmon (I know the difference although it can be subtle). It was overcooked and served with overcooked cous cous and frozen, shriveled peas. The short rib was over salted and topped with banana pepper slices straight from the jar and some kind of salty chips over a parsnip, mashed potato yuckiness. Also, we noted on the reservation that this was a birthday and anniversary dinner and it wasn't even acknowledged by the staff. It's evident the "chef" was not the same as our last visit. The food and the service were below average at best. It's a shame.

They were fresh, crispy on the outside, and soft and warm on the inside. All three sauces that came with them were out of this world, but I think my favorite one was the raspberry sauce. The prices for what you get aren't too bad either, it was $25 for bread, entree, and drink. I would definitely recommend trying this place at least once for a special occasion.

The cafeteria style wine dispensers could have benefitted from somalier staff to explain what the various labels were and what the wines were about, as well as to recommend pairings. I don't like to be on my phone at a restaurant researching wines, trying to decide which values to explore when I'm unfamiliar with all of them. I think my server was too young to know that much about wines beyond the crib notes. I had the tonno crudo which was a lovely dish, but the olive oil had a bitter metallic taste to it, and since raw tuna and the olive oil were the only two flavors of the dish, the olive oil spoiled the flavor a little bit. I highly recommend McElvoy's superb buttery oil from CA. When you have very few ingredients or processes, as is the case in Italian cooking, each of the ingredients has to be over the top. Perfect . I also had the Pasta Medici with lobster and spinach wrapped up shushi-style in two small sheets of house-made pasta and served upended in a small box. The lobster was good, but the creamed spinach did not taste like Florence's best, and I could taste flour and butter in the undercooked pasta. For a signature dish, I would have expected five star efforts, but on this dish only the lobster was really edible. I really want this place to be a success, and I want to have a great experience there. It feels like a good, well-intentioned crew is still getting its act together and working out the kinks. For a very high-quality food experience the servers also need to be sophisticated to help Interpret the dishes and wine for the diners. Keep trying, Wardroom! You've got a very promising vision. If you could re-introduce humans back into the mix, italian-style, you might have a winner!
