It was terribly hot outside (we're having a heat wave right now), but it was amazingly comfortable in this very large restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, and taken to a booth where we were immediately welcomed by Lois, the bartender. She shared her recommendations for lunch, and my husband took her advice and ordered the fish tacos, which was delicious and a large portion. I ordered a Caesar salad with a crabcake. While My husband's dish was a good value, I thought the pricing on my Caesar salad and what appeared to me to be a small crabcake was too high. Nevertheless, it was delicious. The homemade lemonade was delicious, Lois was extremely attentive, stopping by regularly to make sure we had everything we wanted. Great service. Mogan's Oyster House was a great find by my wife as we were heading home from Virginia via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel through the DelMarVa Peninsula instead of fighting traffic on I-95. The downtown area of Salisbury and the restaurant were quiet on a Tuesday afternoon when we stopped for lunch. I'm always up for some good seafood and Mogan's is perfect. The service is great and the menu has way more choices than I expected. They have a very substantial beer and wine selection, but we had to get back on the road, so I just had to settle for a sweet iced tea. Our server informed us that Tuesdays is BOGO Lobster Roll Day and who can refuse that? The Lobster Roll is served with fries, normally for $28, but then we get 2 for 1 just because we picked a nice day! The fresh lobster meat was tenderly poached, the roll was nicely buttered and the fries were hot and crispy. We were pretty hungry from being on the road, so we ordered the daily lunch special instead of an appetizer to share, which was a Fish Sandwich, a cup of Veggie Chili and a cookie. The tasty fish was crispy fried and topped with tartar sauce on a bun. The chili was pretty good with plenty of beans and corn in a tomato base. My regret is that we won't have more chances to try all the good things on the menu because this is so out of the way for us. I really want to have some oysters, both raw and cooked. Terrible experience, poor food. My wife made reservations for my birthday at 5pm, so we were excited to visit based on the website and reviews. We had high hopes! We couldn't have been more disappointed. We were greeted by a friendly front-end staff and given a high-chair for our 18-month-old son. Everyone seemed pleasant and courteous, until our waitress showed up. It was obvious she had more important things to do, like utilize her phone and converse with her friends at the host stand. She abruptly cut us off multiple times to leave us to have "more time" before we could order or ask a question, and we had to keep trying to flag her down just to be able to order. She was either on her phone at the host stand, interacting with her friends there, or on her phone by the bar. Note- there were 7 patrons in the dining area including our family, and we were her only table. With that said, and how difficult it was to get her to come back to us, we just ordered everything at once when she finally got tired of talking to her friends and texting. We ordered the $35-$45 special, each for my wife and I, and some shrimp for my son, who had been quietly watching a movie. We thought that ordering from the "special menu" would be faster and easier on her and on us, since we didn't want to spend all night there. Crab dip and calamari, medium-cooked filet and rockfish, and chocolate tort cake and crème brûlée, with some Old Fashioned's and shrimp/fries for our son. We had high hopes, despite the difficulty in just being able to order. Crush n' Run would have tasted better and been easier to eat than the hard-fried and nasty calamari- completely inedible. And I've had all kinds of calamari, but never had a version that was too bad to eat. The crab dip had barely any crab, just lots flour (bread chunks) and filler. The steak came out well-done when I ordered medium, but it was still tasty, so that's a plus! And the rockfish wasn't overcooked and had a good flavor- good job there! But when I asked the server to take the calamari away (respectfully of course) and explained it was terrible, she asked if I wanted it remade, and I said "no thank you" then she disappeared again before we could ask for boxes. No, "sorry about that" or "that's unfortunate", just "ok" and poof-gone. Besides, we had already finished our meals when she came back, so there wasn't much point to have it remade anyway. We flagged her down again, just asked for the check and to have the desserts boxed up so we could get out of there- we didn't have another 10-15 mins for her to decide to come back or not. My hypothesis- we came in with our son and ordered off the "special menu" with the 3- course meals for $35-$45, and we were dismissed by our waitress and back-of-the-house team that could care less about our experience, let alone our food. Restaurant was empty, waitress had one table (ours), and just made it exceptionally difficult to get a decent meal and have a decent time. She still got a good tip, since it's clearly our last visit there. Take my review with a grain of salt, and instead test my hypothesis to prove it wrong- Good luck! read more

The draft beer list had many options to choose from (lagers to IPA's - recommend the "nat Bo" as a very light lager but flavorful. Their Oaxaca old fashioned piqued my interest and was damn smooth (not a mezcal lover but tasty). Celebrated our son's birthday about a week ago at Mogans and had a fantastic meal! Best Hanger steak in town! Love Mogans.

We are 3 friends who were celebrating 2 of our birthdays. 2 of us are return customers; 1 first timer; and we will be back! We had a lovely, leisurely celebration. The food was delicious (lobster rolls overflowing with huge pieces of lobster--no filling--and the daily special of soup and fried flounder sandwich). Scott, our server was wonderful. He was attentive without being intrusive--a perfect balance. We never felt rushed, just thoroughly enjoyed lunch. Scott delivered the 'surprise' birthday desserts beautifully--my friends had no idea they were coming until he arrived, softly singing happy birthday (so they wouldn't be embarrassed) and placing a crème brûle with a small lit candle in front of each of them. One of the 'birthday girls' said it was the best crème brûle she'd ever had--and she is very particular about her food! A final note--the booths are comfortable and make it easy to talk and hear one another. You should come--you won't regret it!! read more

We were passing through on the way to Jane's Island and looking for a place to eat some seafood. Wow what a find. We called and made a reservation in advance due to COVID. Found street parking and got there at 7pm on Friday. It was pretty packed but they have multiple outdoor seating areas and plastic shields between booths. They also had hand sanitizing spray at each table. All servers wore face coverings and gloves. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and service was great!! But most importantly... the food was amazing! We had raw oysters- shucked well and fresh. Baked elote oysters - the most unique rendition of oysters Rockefeller that I've had yet. The pieces of corn, slight spicy kick, and cheese were perfect. My fiancee: "this is the first time I've ever licked an oyster shell [clean]." We also had grilled parmesean lemon butter oysters - loved the crispy shaved cheese. The watermelon arugula salad was refreshing and delicious with light dressing. Finally the crab cake duet was good - the green beans perfectly cooked, and I swapped the mashed potatoes for the corn-mushroom-squash veggie which was a seemingly unusual combination but fantastic. Found this spot via Yelp when in Salisbury and decided to give it a try for lunch. ~ the hostess was lovely, the restaurant was beautiful and the server was quite knowledgeable! There were so many great options on the menu, it was very difficult to make a choice. We decided to try the French onion soup wontons (!) as an appetizer, and we were glad we did ! Crispy on the outside and filled with a little broth, caramelized onion and cheese, they were absolutely delicious. I had a fish sandwich, a nice piece of Mahi with an interesting tarter sauce and fries. I didn't eat the bread, the fish was great and the fries were pretty standard. My friend got the rich boy sandwich made with shrimp, the pineapple salsa included but the curry Mayo on the side. The curry Mayo had quite the kick, neither of us opted to eat it, but the shrimp with the pineapple was delish. Aloha, I was so excited to try Mogans after all the hype from hubby that this was the best in Salisbury. Not sure, but wasn't the greatest meal. We had a party of 10, shared a few appetizers, and ordered our own entrees. I took a bite from pretty much every ones plate, but sorry did not do much for me. Maybe an off night? Different cook? Even hubby said, wasn't the same as last time he was here, oh well, I guess I'll give it another try. Mogan's Oyster House 9/13/24 Hello to all who read my name is Jason Nester. I'm a trained chef who started working my first job at fifteen washing dishes at Waterman's Cove. The cove, as we called it, was a popular, locally owned, seafood house. I quickly worked through every position in a handful of local restaurants, opening two from just the shell of a building to fully operational in my 30 years in hospitality. The only position that I haven't held is that of ownership. I'm rarely 100% satisfied when dining out. It's hard to set aside what I see that doesn't meet my standards and industry standards. My expectations are extremely high. Dining at Mogan's this past friday night on 9/13. Mind you, this was the first time dining there. My expectations of perfection were not only accomplished, they were blown off the charts. The whole experience, from the atmosphere, the most comfortable table booths I have ever sat in with pillows and all. Luke, our waiter, went above and beyond. It seemed so natural that it's like it was his restaurant, and his sole responsibility was our happiness and nothing else. I could go way deeper! Luke, excellent work. Thank you again! We tried seven different courses. The simplest way is that I couldn't have done any better myself. Thanks again to all the kitchen staff! Top notch execution of all dishes!
