A throwback diner with typical floor layout and relaxed vibe. Wait staff is competent. The menu is nicely varied. Their prime rib meal with mashed potatoes and coleslaw is traditional and tasty. I ordered mine medium rare and that's just what I got; some of the time I get served medium and it annoys me -- appreciate the careful attention given to my request. The meatloaf looked unappealing and dry, chicken parmesan tasted decent, clams were tasty but did not have enough, the chicken quesadilla was flavorful and served with a generous amount of condiments, and the flounder was tasty. The salad bar was fresh and plentiful. The dinner rolls were fresh. The homemade desserts were delicious. All-in-all the food prices were quite affordable. The server Christy was friendly and attentive. She appears to enjoy her job and cares about her customer's needs. The atmosphere was comfortable, spacious, and relatively quiet. We have been to stargate many times and never had a bad experience until last night. We ordered a steak and it was ordered medium and came with shrimp. The steak came out and appeared to be cooked on the outside but the inside was not cooked at all it was raw and bloody. they took the plate with shrimp and all back to the kitchen cooked the same piece of steak which then came out overcooked and served it back on the same plate with the shrimp. in my opinion seriously unsanitary. They took the meal off of the bill but still charged for the salad. What crap and what a horrible way to run a restaurant. read more

The specials alone have sold me on this restaurant. The menu is full of all-around options that will have you deliberating on what to get. Let's start with parking. Stargate offers plenty of private parking with abundant handicap parking directly up front. Once inside, you are greeted with a warm and very friendly staff. They offer table or booth seating and plenty of it. Before going to your seat, take a look at the well put together salad bar. I was not ready for the menu, not even close to what I had expected. There are so many delicious meals that I feel that no matter what your craving is, Stargate will deliver. There was a "Wednesday specials" sheet slipped between the pages of the menu that states "with purchase of Special, Pudding or Ice cream is included. I didn't get to the ice cream flavors once I heard "Bread Pudding, Rice Pudding, chocolate pudding, and Tapioca Pudding. I chose the Pulled Turkey plate, which opened my eyes like a child in front of a birthday cake. Oh...my...goodness!!! With this order you can choose 1 side with soup or salad. I chose the stewed tomatoes and the salad bar. Stewed tomatoes can often be really sweet, but not here. There's a hint of sweetness, but it's seasoned like a marinara flavor and just down-right a noise maker; I hope you try it! The dessert chosen was the Rice Pudding with the optional whip cream. Not heavy, not mushy, probably some of the best rice Pudding I've had. Now, let's talk turkey. You are NOT ready nor expecting what's going to be on that plate if you're a first-timer. Make sure you're hungry or ready for leftovers. The plate has a mound of stuffing, covered in juicy pulled/shredded turkey, covered with gravy, and a small cup of cranberry sauce. Belly Buster!!! Oh, I forgot I asked for hot tea which they had. Lipton tea but you get a cup of hot water that you get to put your own tea bag in. In addition to this you get another saucer that has a small teapot full of hot water, ANOTHER tea bag, 2 slices of lemon, annnnnd 2 small covered cups of honey!! This place is just awsome. The staff was on top of it here. Courteous, delightful, engaging, and just present. You never had one of those "Where's the waiter/waitress or staff". I implore you to look up "Stargate Diner, Seaford MD", and look at the menu. You'll see the daily specials area which lists one dish, but there are more in person. The waitress was wonderful. The food was not. I wasn't going to complain, but after spending $30 plus a tip and after driving home I thought about it and changed my mind. We went for lunch. The food was hot, that's a plus, but my sandwich did not taste like a buffalo chicken quesadilla. The second piece I spit out because it had cartilage that I bit into. Grossed me out. My daughter got her lunch and could not eat it because she said it tasted strange. The waitress was very helpful and replaced it with something else. My daughter said the replacement was good. Since writing this review, they have substituted the feta cheese in the salad with some unknown bland look-a-like cheese. It's still real feta in the dressing, but not in the salad. I don't go there anymore. One of the few healthy choices they used to have. read more

Made a pit stop while traveling. Always skeptical of diners . This place did not disappoint! Probably the best omelette I've had anywhere. Along with the hash browns. Eggs were fluffy. Not greasy at all. You could actually taste the omelette . Potatoes were perfect. Again not sitting in grease and salt. There is nothing more gross than food that comes to your table and it's just laying in a plate of oil that taste nothing like what you are eating. Disgusting processed oil. Just a quick review. We have been here several times. The salad bar has a very good selection. The service is always on point and friendly. I had the turkey and gravy. The turkey was nice and tender like fresh out of the Thanksgiving oven. We rarely have to wait more than a couple minutes. I was visiting out of town and looking for a late night meal Stargate diner, set the bill with breakfast all day on the menu. They serve a generous plate, and the staff was very friendly. I had a veggie omelette with hashbrowns and toast with iced tea. It's a kind of place that makes you feel at home. they also have a salad bar, sandwiches, and lots of dinner options. Was driving through Seaford and wanted breakfast. Very clean diner and socially distant tables. Our waitress was really super friendly. I got the 2 eggs with meat. I got scrapple but missed taking a picture but was crispy, a corner piece, and not greasy. Coffee refilled quickly and was really hot and fresh. They have some flavored cream too if you like the French Vanilla or Hazelnut. Eggs cooked fried with cheese (I asked for it) you can choose toast or pancakes. Driving up from Salisbury, MD and looking for something new. We didn't want any of the numerous chains along the way. Thanks to the fellow Yelpers decided to give it a try. Negatives: 1. Took a long time from the time we got our water till server came back to get our orders. Could have been overwhelmed so may not be a regular issue. 2. Busboy comes with a large cart on wheels to clean off tables. It makes a lot of noise while doing so. Remind yourself that this is a diner and diners tend to be noisy, but still was a tad annoying. Perhaps if I didn't have to wait so long to order, I may not have been so annoyed about it. 3. Everything was a hair bland or under seasoned in my opinion. Chicken pastina soup was very good, but could have used a little salt. Turkey Reuben that I ordered was a little bland too. Even the French fries were a little off. It might be that they cater to an older crowd and temper the seasoning and that's okay. Better to error on side of less than too much seasoning. 4. Dinner rolls came out half way through the meal. They were hot and good but someone in the kitchen goofed I guess Positives: 1. Extra large portions! 2. Prices: cheap prices considering what you get. My wife's meal came with soup or salad and two sides and dessert. I had her soup. She got Mac n cheese and stewed tomatoes as sides which she liked. She also got a rice pudding which was very good. All of this for $12.99. She took half her meal home. My turkey melt and fries was 8.99. Dinner for two was $22. Really??? When's the last time that happened. Watching other meals coming out they were large portions too. I would return and try other things for sure. The place is spacious and clean looking Update: went back for breakfast today. Sunday morning crowd made this place busy but we got seated right of way. We both opted for the breakfast buffet for $8.99. Buffet has all the regular breakfast items. Out of everything the only good thing was the sausage and ham which were both very good. Bacon was good and cooked perfectly. Eggs were Bland! No taste at all! Biscuits were dry and tasteless. Pancakes and French toast were below average. Syrup was weak and probably a very inexpensive variety. Service was warm and friendly. Probably won't be back. Great diner right down the road from our home. Nice clean place with some TVs and soft music also playing. It was our first time there and our server Becca was Fabulous and extremely patient and didn't rush us. Great menu selections and daily specials. We had the 2 for $29 dinner special. I Had the pork chop special and my wife had the roasted Turkey dinner. Both dinners came with salad bar which was well stocked and 1 side dish and dessert. My first time visiting this local diner. Nothing special about the decor. There is ample parking in the lot. Arrived at noon to have lunch with a party of 4. Our server was attentive and gave us all of our requests, no questions asked. The portions are HUGE. I ordered the turkey special, complete with stuffing and cranberry sauce! The rolls were warm. The cup of beef vegetable soup was adequate but good. There is a salad bar option but I didn't have it. Two scoops of cookies and cream ice cream was included in the special. Yum! All told I had 3 huge courses, all delicious, I took half of my entree home and paid $14.99. I would definitely recommend and will be back. A few weeks ago, I stopped at the Stargate Diner. I've driven by the diner about 50 times going south. Atmosphere: The outside ha a large sign and is a modern building. It's not an old metallic, shiny, diner, but it looks and appears clean. It had the typical feel of a small-town diner; there are plenty of booths, tables, and even a salad bar. The bathrooms were out of service, and there was a sign that said: "Rotorooter on the way." Haf I desperately needed to go, I would have been forced to leave the restaurant and drive somewhere. Coffee: The coffee was good, but nothing extraordinary.  It was hot and fresh. Food: The Stargate Diner has everything a stereotypical small-town diner would have. From multiple breakfast options to lunch, and dinner, they have it all. There were a few specials as well, but nothing that called my name. Since I was on the road, I wasn't in the mood for anything hot or too heavy and decided to order their greek salad with chicken. The Greek Salad itself was a decent size and had plenty of chicken, olives, grape leaves, and feta cheese. I didn't love their homemade dressing, and it was so thick and salty. The salad itself was decent, and I would order it again. Service: The waiter was friendly, and my food came out fast. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Which is great, because my bladder would not have lasted much longer. Overall Thoughts/Summary: The food at the Stargate Diner wasn't bad, but I don't know if I would come back, due to the bathroom situation. Holy cow! We wanted to go someplace we've never been for breakfast and came across the Stargate just by chance. The diner was packed, the parking lot full, and yet we were seated immediately at the bar. The $8.99 breakfast buffet was amazingly hitting on all cylinders. Yes, you read that right. $8.99. Including coffee. LOTS of variety on the buffet, with some other selections available under the buffet charge, just for the asking. All choices were kept fresh and rotated. The restaurant was absolutely spotless, and tables seemed to be turned VERY FAST. The only thing I would change is to add Pork Roll to the buffet, but that may make it cost more... Kudos to Stargate for a fantastic Sunday breakfast for 2 for under $20. read more

Down in Southern Delaware for a family reunion we were looking for somewhere different to go other than all the places we've tried down there when visiting our relatives. Yelp to the rescue again! As we entered we were really impressed how huge this place was. There looked to be three different sections to eat we so we chose to sit in a sunroom like dining area that had shades on the window and yet we still felt like we could see the outdoors while dining. Outside we had seen a sign that said "homemade cooking " so when we got the menus we were happy to see some really great items. Both of us agreed that the service was absolutely fabulous. Our server and I'm sad I forgot her name was polite ,friendly and totally accurate in her service. She checked on us many times and we kind of felt like we were dining at her home. I listened around other servers and I saw the same thing so you kind of feel like this is real down home dining. Menu: Chicken and Dumplings that was loaded with chicken. If you know anything about Delaware there are so many chicken farms around that when you get chicken it's fresh. The chicken melted in my mouth. Pancake platter. The feminine offspring raved about how great her pancakes were and she said they were the best she ever had. She also loved the bacon.
