Went here this past weekend as part of a crab feast/ casino trip . Upon arrival, the establishment from outside appears to be big. Once inside the restaurant, the tables are long and very close together. Not too many table are just 4-tops of which means you'll be seated with others most likely . It was a tight squeeze to get up from the tables due to them being so close . They dump all the crabs and corn on your table which leaves lil space to actually eat them. There are three bathroom stalls for a really big restaurant of which causes a long line every time you need to use the bathroom. Now the crabs themselves were a mix of small & mediums but they were really juicy and had a good taste. The servers were pretty cool although they seemed overwhelmed with the large groups of people. Overall the crabs, corn, clam strips, and fried chicken thighs and shrimp were good. I had first caught wind of Old Mill Crab House about 10 years ago, when a group that included several of my coworkers took a charter to go eat at this location. The next day everybody was talking about how good this place was. They talked about the all you can eat crabs, that same with fried shrimp and chicken that was just out of this world, and it just sounded incredible. I had actually looked it up, and told my wife about it, but it was just to far of a drive without having a day planned around it. We don't really go out to this area, and so after a while it just kind of fell off of our radar. Fortunately for my though, I was invited to a conference at Salisbury University through my employer. I was talking with a friend of mine about the food ion the area, and he brought up a name that I hadn't heard in some time, but it clicked right when he said it. I did my googles and found that we were only 20 minutes from here, and I knew it was now or never. I told 2 of my coworkers about it, and gave them the backstory on how I've been wanting to cone here for years, and they were down. The only thing that came as a drawback was that we had just been given blue crabs at our conference the day before, and I didn't want to sit through another crab picking session, so AYCE wasn't going to be an option for me, but luckily it didn't end up being a problem. When we got here we were seated immediately, that staff was friendly and it smelled amazing as soon as you opened the door. Our sevcer was very accommodating seeing as we had to split the bill 3 ways and she put the alcohol on 3 different checks for us. Anyhow, The food! I got the Snow Crab mini feast, which came with 4 Clusters of Snow Crabs, 1 Piece of Fried Chicken, 1 Ear of Corn, Boat of Fried Shrimp, Boat of Clam Strips, Boat of Hush Puppies. Which was more like 3 pieces of chicken, and shrimp flowing out of the boat. I also got a pitcher of Blue Moon and a Tito's Wildcat which was really good. I could've done without the powdered sugar on top of the hush puppies, but it didn't ruin how good they were. It almost gave off a beignet vibe, they were lighter and fluffier than a lot of the more dense hush puppies I've had, and were still the best hush puppies i've had in a minute. Needless to say I crushed this whole meal, and I was actually considering not even eating the corn. Then I figured I should atleast take a bite, because why not. Best decision ever! I pealed the corn and drizzled melted butter with Old Bay on it, and holy smokes! The best corn i've ever had in my entire, whole, full, complete, total life! Even without the fixings it was sweet and juicy, just good. I would fircking come back from a Corn on the cob mini feast if they had one...lls The only real downside is that on a hot day this place and get pretty stuffy inside. We spoke with our waitress who said the A.C. has a hard time keeping up once the place gets packed, so hopefully thats something they fix in the near future. I had a good time here We were greeted & seated quickly. Our waitress was friendly and checked in on us at properly spaced regular intervals. Place had a decent amount of people there but our waitress made sure to check in on us. Pricing was decent and we did the all you can eat option. I'm not normally a fan of crab but this was good. The crab was surprisingly flavorful. The chicken & hush puppies were surprisingly good! Not sure why I was so surprised by how much I liked my food but I was. They put garbage bins right next to your table. Talk about convenient! As much as I like high end places, I gotta tell you, a bin right next to the table is SO handy! My cousins and I were excited to have a cousins day during the opening week at Old Mill. I traveled 2.5 hours to be disappointed. I left my food as it was not worth a to go box. They did not have any corn so they were substituting this with more hush puppies or shrimp. Not the same as their fried shrimp are always tasteless and never hand breaded always frozen. one ordered the bottomless crabs while the others ordered the mini feasts. The crabs were light weight and barely worth the work. the snow crab legs were tasteless and extremely skimpy. The grease was old and they had not cleaned the fryer good so we were warned that people were returning the shrimp and clam strips and we did the same as they were disgusting you could see the old oil standing on top of the food and smell it. As soon as you enter there's a hospitable burst of energy and a setup that makes you immediately feel as if you are about to feast on the worlds best crabs. I opted for the All you can eat blue crabs and let me tell you; they were the best blue crabs I've ever eaten. Seasoned to perfection. The portions served are definitely not for one person however, you are not permitted to share the All you can eat options. I also enjoyed the hush puppies with confectioners sugar, the corn was scrumptious and the fried chicken had a soulful kick. The Old Mill Crab House - (For epicureans around the world). It would be silly to say that the border between Maryland and Delaware is porous. The only way one can keep track of crossing into another state in the Union is by enabling announcements on the navigator of choice. It must be a major nuisance for people living in Delmar, a town that straddles both states. Maryland is known for two things; A large Naval base in Annapolis and the Maryland Blue Crabs. I would imagine one needs to have a special permit to enter a Naval facility. Nothing is required to eat at the best crab joint. Old Mill Crab House is open to all during the season, but when we rolled into Delmar at 5 PM on a Sunday afternoon on our way to New Jersey, its parking lot looked like that of a soccer stadium on game day. We have been to it a few times over the years and the food has always been delicious. Prices have slowly creeped up since I first set foot in there around 40 years ago. The coveted All-You-Can-Eat crabs bucket went from $14 to $68 over time. For people who love great authentic food, Old Mill Crab House is the perfect destination. In America, one can always fly from point A to point B, but the country opens up to people who take their time to explore and see its places. Highly recommended! read more

We came here for a family birthday party. They do not take reservations and all members of the party must be there before you're seated. I was worried at first we would have a long wait because there were 19 of us, however this allowed us to be seated in only 10 mins on a Saturday afternoon. Our food came out within 20 minutes and my shrimp feast was wonderful (except the corn, it wasn't that good). Loved the hush puppies with the powdered sugar and the shrimp. I ordered AYCE crabs on 09/03/2025. The crabs were horrendous. The meat was mushy and tasteless. The crabs were extremely difficult to open with my lazer sharp knife. Out of 15 crabs served, I received only 5 claws. I was informed today by a knowledgeable insider that the crabs I was served were reheated from the day before. Although it was pretty crowded we were seated immediately. The waitresses were super attentive, they all checked on us even though they were assigned to other tables. We decided to celebrate my aunt's birthday on a Tuesday night. We are locals and know that seating usually isn't an issue through the week. It was around 30 of us. The website said no reservations--first come first served. The restaurant itself is always nice and the servers were reasonably nice-- nothing to brag on but efficient. The food wasn't the best or worst--just ok. My problem was the attitude of the elderly woman that you'll often find sitting at the front of the restaurant!!! She was rude, unfriendly and didn't make any effort to make our patronage feel welcomed or appreciated. There was an entire back room with adequate space to seat us together and she chose to seat us in a manner that was uncomfortable and made it difficult to socialize as a group. As with all things, some businesses think they are above becoming a memory. My message to this business is if you continue treating customers like they owe you something, you'll be one of those businesses. read more

Get here at least an hour early to get in line, especially on a Saturday! Line was already pretty long when we arrived around 2:30 on a very hot and humid day. We were seated and our server put menus on the table and asked what we wanted to drink. She seemed a bit annoyed that we actually took our time to look at the drink menu first. She asked if we knew what we wanted to order and all four of us got the same all-you-can-eat option. Food came out fast and is dumped on your table. This was our second time visiting Old Mill where we noticed some areas for improvement. Being a recent transplant from the DC/Baltimore area crab houses, our visits have been slight disappointments. The first disappointment is when the hosts attempts to seat us at a table that was previously used. Although the table surface was clean, it had a trash can full of the previous party's waste. GROSS!!! Naturally after looking around, we asked the server to seat us at a nearby table that had a fresh and empty trash can. Frankly, I would prefer a smaller clean container on or near the table. Although, it would require the server to empty it periodically, it would ensure we get frequent service checks and hopefully better tips for the server. My wife had fried oysters appetizer with the best Crab Imperial that is highly recommended. Unfortunately, the oysters were covered with too much breading. They did not have any taste and were probably frozen. They clearly were not fresh. I had the AYCE blue crabs. I was planning to order a dozen large or jumbo to hopefully have them cooked to order. The server said the AYCE crabs were mixed sizes including large. Anyway, I was disappointed when I received mostly small crabs that were super light. They barely seemed legal size and had very little meat! Not to mention most of them were barely warm... not hot as expected from most crab houses that I've visited. I didn't eat the shrimp or hush puppies because the shrimp. However, the chicken was served hot and had a great flavour! To me it was the main attraction. The chicken was so good that I was wondering if I read the name of the place wrong. Was it Old Mill Fried Chicken House? This place is magical, everything is delicious. Most crab houses only specialize in crabs (and it shows) everything is well seasoned, hot and fresh at The Old Mill! The bartender is not skimpy on alcohol, the drinks will hit the spot. This has literally become our weekly spot while visiting family (we'll be back next week) ha. We've been able to try almost everything on the menu without disappointment. Everyone's left satisfied - even the pickiest of eaters. Crabs come out before the other food, but the wait is not long. I learned about this place in 2014 so I've had this place on my bucket list of "places to visit" since then. Since I'm a big seafood lover I already knew that if this place lived up to it's stories and verbal reviews I'd surely enjoy myself. So 8 years later I finally found the time and opportunity to venture out and pull up. Upon arriving (2 & 1/2) hours later from Philly I instantly noticed how this place stuck out like a rainbow in the sky after a stormy morning. Although it was a nice drive to get there, I instantly became excited and anxious to get to this legendary seafood that I've heard so much about. After getting seated and settled , my friend and I ordered waters w/lemon and studied the menu while randomly looking around and taking in the scenery. Very chill and family like vibes with a local "go to" feel that accommodated all ages, ethnicities, and felt like a good place to enjoy some good seafood. We already knew that we wanted to go with the "all you can eat " option since it provided all you can eat "blue crabs" or "Alaskan" or "shrimp" that came with "all that you can eat" (chicken wings, hush puppies, clam strips, corn on the cob, and shrimp). Please know that you should get there early because although it's a nice size place, it also fills up pretty fast. Rows and rows of tables with trash cans placed on the side of each guest, it can be a tight squeeze within the aisles. The staff are super attentive and always "on go" bringing out food and checking in to make sure that you have what you need. I'd like to shout out our waiter "Megan" who made our first time there not only welcoming but memorable. She was obviously busy but always found the time to check in and make sure that we were ok and didn't need for anything. Also, shout out to the other waiter who brought us our water w/lemons in the beginning while we waited for "Megan" (team work makes the dream work). Finally, my thoughts on the food and I can't lie. This place not only lived up to it's stories but gained a new supporter because everything was delicious and plentiful. Rounds and rounds of seafood was brought out and at our request so there was never a moment of disappointment. I must admit that towards the end the seafood seemed way more seasoned than before but I was determined to finish everything and even received praises from others for noticing how much we were able to eat. Philly was def in the building and made it known lol. Shout out to the cooks, the bus boys, and of course our amazing waiter "Megan". If you're ever in the area of (Delmar Delaware) and want some life changing seafood then "Old Mill Crab House" is the place to visit. FYI: Our drinks were potent and the perfect compliment to maintain eating so much and the lemons were def necessary lol. When you're in a unfamiliar town or city and you need to find a hot date location to go with Wifey that's not fancy...of course you turn to Yelp. We had a long day out at a track meet where our daughter was competing and we wanted some ice cold beer and crabs...and Old Mill Crab House seemed like it would be a home run. Place was packed, but we were seated almost immediately (place is also huge) and ordered a couple beers while we checked out the menu. Old Mill has a decent beer and specialty drink menu, but after a long day I just wanted cold and tasty so I went with Land Shark. When the waitress arrived with the beers we placed our orders - I ordered the Snow crab mini feast-5 snow crab clusters, a fried chicken breast, 'boat' of fried clam strips, 'boat' of hush puppies, and an ear of corn and Wifey ordered the Crab Daddy Steampot-4 blue crabs, 1lb of steamers, 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp, potatoes and an ear of corn-all dusted with Old Bay. Now I will never admit to being full on crabs because I think I could eat them until I looked and felt like Mr. Creosote (look for it on YouTube if you don't get the reference), but all the extras with this meal definitely filled me up. And every bit of both meals was delicious. My only negative was that we were there way too early in the season for blue crabs...they were too small, but they did give us an extra one to cover the size. Complete waste of time and money, beyond disappointing. We drove here from the Dover area at the recommendation of several people. This is a no frills place that essentially makes you bus your own table (there are trash cans at the end of every table...so it's a little tight to maneuver). We were seated right away and sat down eager to try lots of things. There was a large party next to us that was going to town on the AYCE crabs. Yesterday the AYCE snow crabs were $80 and the Mini Feast was $60. We decided to go with the minis and add on scallops and a crab cake. Our server was very friendly (but that didn't last) and the food came out quickly...but it wasn't hot. It's as if they're constantly cooking to be prepared for refills. We ate the shrimp first...DISAPPOINTED...seemed like something you'd get out of the frozen food aisle rather than restaurant quality. The clam strips were the same and tasted as if they were fried with the same grease as the chicken. The "famous" chicken was a BLAND breast with absolutely no seasoning...not even salt & pepper and the crab legs were DRY. We couldn't figure out if they were dried out from the freezer, from overheating, or from sitting under a heat lamp.... The drawn butter and old bay didn't help. When the server returned to check in, she was offended by our feedback and became borderline rude. She subsequently passed us off to another server. Although I prefaced the feedback with "I know you're not cooking the food" she was clearly offended, leading us to think this is her family's restaurant.
