We shared a salad, which was good; the raspberry vinaigrette was just too sweet. Chicken noodle soup, comfort in a bowl. For our mains, BF had the ribeye steak; I must say, it was cooked perfectly medium and was well-seasoned. So much better than most expensive steak houses we've been to for a fraction of the cost. I had the shrimp scampi; the sauce was good, but the shrimp tasted a little off. And we got the bill, it was inexpensive, and no sales tax? Whoa! This was a great find!

Both times the food was good and the place was very clean. They have an extensive menu Otherwise there were some differences. The lunch was great as we were served quickly and efficiently. We were one of only about eight tables seated so not very busy at all. Our service was quick and extremely friendly and the food arrived very quickly. Made a great first impression. The second time here was durning a Sunday morning breakfast hour. It was seat yourself and there were tables open. The server acknowledged us after about ten minutes and it was at least another 15 minutes before she came and took our drink orders and asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch. After about five minutes we got he menus and then waited awhile again for her to come back so we could order our food. It was all quite a wait for our food to arrive once ordered and the server never checked in us for refills on drinks so this experience was not as a great. I don't know if it is always like this when it is busy but I will shoot for off hours in the future. So, will I come back, yes because the ambiance is nice and the food has consistently been good but I will aim to come at more off hours so maybe I don't run into service issues unless I have lots of extra time.

We were celebrating a birthday, and luckily we were one of the first people inside at 5 pm on a Friday. They told us we had only a couple hours, however, before we got booted so to speak, lol. But we didn't feel rushed! The local staff were great. We ate at a normal pace. We ordered the following: veal piccata, grilled NY steak, and specials--Rockfish, swordfish with shrimp sauce. The appetizers we tried were the French onion soup, cream of broccoli, and mushroom cap. The other specials that night were a Brie appetizer and a Maryland soft-shell crab entrée I believe. We also tried some special drinks--pear martini, dark berry mocktail. Overall, I liked the veal and the mushroom cap the most! Those were delectable, even though they had a pretty nice variety of seafood. All the plates came with a broccoli fluffy egg sous vide type of side (see pics, light green & circular). There's a smaller, more intimate area that could fit maybe 8 or 10 folks max for a party. There was some issue with the women's bathroom, but it was fine when I used it. Other than that, it was an overall pleasant experience. I think because of the time frame, we couldn't eat dessert so that sweet treats menu wasn't offered to us unfortunately.

It is a very small cafe but nicely decorated. It was a Sunday morning and there were a few empty tables so we got seated right away. As far as food and prices, it is a great deal. You get a good quality of food and it was fresh and flavorful. We had western omelets, pancakes, French toast and grits. The two of us that had the omelets took half home for breakfast the next day. The service was friendly although it did take over a half hour from the time we sat down until we got our food so as long as you are not in a hurry I would say it was worth the wait. Give it try!

We started with the shrimp salad on toast points, and I had an outstanding espresso martini. The appetizer was tasty, although it was very creamy such that I could not visibly recognize the shrimp. For dinner, I ordered the seafood Alfredo, and my wife ordered the market-price "Lump Crabcake" entrée. The Alfredo was very good, although the scallops were bay scallops rather than sea scallops, and for the price I expected a little more seafood. Her entrée included vegetables, while I had to order mine separately as an additional side. The biggest disappointment was the crabcakes. Despite being promoted as "lump crabcake," they appeared to be mostly filler with finely shredded crab, with perhaps 15% lump crabmeat. The flavor was good, but not exceptional, and I found the name of the entrée misleading. I am accustomed to a lump crabcake being predominantly lump crab. For dessert, we shared the bread pudding, which seemed unsure whether it wanted to be bread pudding or apple pie. It was fine, but not especially memorable. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere, received excellent service, and thought much of the food was good to very good. However, the crabcakes were quite disappointing, especially given the description and market price. Our bill before tip came close to $150, which was a bit of a shock considering the quality and portions. Calvin and the espresso martini were definite highlights, but the crabcakes did not live up to expectations.
