This place is fab! Classic French with a Cape May twist ...Truly delicious French inspired food from start to finish (we had the cassoulet and duck à l'orange ) ... lovely, understated but enthusiastic service and a beautiful room. What more could you want?!!!! Tout va bien! Can't wait to go back!

We found this place and were excited to try. I was impressed. The hostess was nice and seated us in a nice room with black and white leave wallpaper. I enjoyed the decor. The waitress offered great service. The meal was timed nicely. I think they ran out of the fish I originally wanted, but i was happy with my selection. The food was very good! We liked everything we ate. It's a byob. If I had to say anything negative, we thought it was a bit pricey for a byob. Though this place is very good and I am excited we found it. If looking for a nice dinner in Cape May, add it to your list of places to try!

This restaurant was across the street from The place we were staying. The ambience and the setting was perfection. The table on the porch overlooking the front garden and entrance on a beautiful evening was delightful. Then things fell apart....The menu looked yummy but the execution was lackluster. The foie gras was Not seasoned, came with a waffle the size of a quarter and was extremely disappointing. The mushroom ravioli entree was pedestrian at best. The duck l' orange lacked basic seasoning !! Unbelievable. We opted not to order dessert to prevent further disappointment . This may have been an off night for the Chef. I have been to many fine dining restaurants on both coasts - sadly this is not one I would recommend .

We ate here over the summer. Got easy reservations 2 days before. The hostess was nice and sat us at a lovely table. The decor was beautiful with art and lights. Waitress was helpful recommending dishes. The food was delicious, I had the scallops and. My husband the filet at poivre. We split oysters for our app. My only complaint was how fast they moved us through the meal, even though they were not full. We were Driving from CT and we made an early reservation so we knew we had dinner plans. We sat at 6:02, and had had apps and finished our entrees by 6:39, we could have stayed longer and had dessert, but at $187 for a 37 min experience felt like a lot. Overall good experience, just wish for it to last longer

02/14/2024 Located in The Hugh B&B, my wife and I, my sister and brother in law all enjoyed a very nice meal... with excellent service. My wife started with the Baked South Bay Salt Oysters, which she raved about for days after. I had the beet salad. Good, but no raving happening. My wife and I both had the Bouillabaisse, which was terrific. My SIL had the Duck l'orange, while my BIL had a 'pasta of the day'. It's a little tight sitting where we were, but the service was terrific. We were a little disappointed that there was no decaf coffee to be had. Not sure if they were out, but it seemed more like decaf just wasn't on the menu. Make plans for this wonderful BYOB restaurant.

Moody upscale dining right in downtown Cape May! This brand new spot features fancy French cuisine - something the town was lacking before! I would definitely recommend for a date night or fancy and romantic evening! We started with the steak tartare, which was heavily seasoned with herbs and Dijon, but that I enjoyed nonetheless. The wagyu cheeseburger was delicious. The coq au vin was super flavorful and gigantic! And the prime strip steak's Maitre D'Hotel butter was unforgettable. The definitely know how to do fresh RIGHT! Absolutely on the higher end price wise, and they're still working out some kinks with service, but overall I would still recommend for the only French on the beach and the romantic vibes!

Enjoyed a lovely dinner . I had the Duck which I thoroughly enjoyed. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable. The dining room is small, but cleverly decorated. Overall a very good dining experience; currently scheduling our return visit

Potato leek soup

This place was amazing, to die for. This is a must eat place in cape may, just make sure you reserve in advance of going. Everything from here tasted amazing. The tuna tartare was so fresh as well at the chips that came with it. The potato leek soup was so rich and and light at the same time. I would get this again. The muscles and fries were humongous, I definitely should of gotten less appetizers. I would get this again as well, the fries were super crispy and I got it as truffled flavor which was amazing. The muscles were fresh too This is a great date night spot!

The service was great and all the food was exceptional. The beans with the duck confit was a little salty but still good. Such a nice place!

Maison Bleue on Washington Street, Cape May.

This was the best dinner I've had in such a long while. Very unique dishes on the menu and my meal was delicious. The Endive Salad was tasty. A unusual blend of ingredients. My main course was Fluke cooked with a butter almond sauce and served with roasted potatoes, brussel sprouts and a sweet potato purée.

I am still having trouble processing the fact that the dining experience I had last night was not…read morein some remote, vacation destination like Santa Barbara, Paris, or Venice. When I looked around me at the dining room, it did not seem possible that I could be sitting 4 miles away from where I live, or 7 miles away from the house I grew up in. Cape May Court House has never been known for upscale dining; but Provence just arrived here, and I want to thank them for elevating my hometown and bringing some culture and elegance to the South Jersey Shore. We were able to book a reservation because this wonder has not yet been discovered by the summer vacationers from PA, but once NYC gets wind of this place, I know we will not be so lucky. In the meantime, however, I have Provence as an option, and I could not be more euphoric. The Chef's name is Adam Bowen, and he brings to you a six-course tasting menu. The service is exactly perfect in theory, but still has some small issues to work out in practice. This is because this restaurant and B&B just arrived on the planet, and we cannot hold such a new establishment to the same standard as, say, Peter Shields or the Ebbitt Room, who have been serving Cape May diners for decades. What the new servers lack in execution is made up for by Kal, the maître d', who is clearly perfecting the front of the house during Provence's infant stages. Last night was the very first night of the new menu, which changes every two to three weeks, so I was expecting some trial-and-error, some slight imperfections, or missteps. What I got was this: A gorgeous Amuse of Cucumber and Leek Vichyssoise poured over Crabmeat with Mint and Avocado Foam which was followed by "The Bread Course"--something that tasted like a perfect Caprese Salad and a perfect Bruscietta had a baby in heaven. It wasn't either of these things, of course; it was Soft Crostini served with Basil Oil, notes of Boursin Cheese, and Roasted Red Peppers. Then came the first course. It was Octopus, but it was unlike any Octopus you've ever had. It was a Terrine--served cold--with Lemon Foam, Honeyed Hazelnuts, Piquillo Peppers, Frizzled Chickpeas, and a Tomato Marmalade. By this point, I was starting to understand the breathtaken reviews I had read about this restaurant. Course 2 was an absolutely perfect. Risotto with impossibly tender Lamb and Summer Peas. Think Ricotta infused with Lemon and Basil, Mushrooms, and Carrots, in a Green Sauce. Stunning and perfect. For dinner, you choose between the Chilean Sea Bass with Roasted Beets, Cucumbers, and Green Garlic or the Pork Cheek Bourguignon with White Beans, Fennel, and Parsnips. This fish will have you making pleasant sounds. The Pork Cheek may have been the most stunning bite of the night, but who knows when you have been bombarded by flavor since the beginning. The Dessert Course by Chef Allison Seelaus was the perfect end to the perfect meal. Again, you choose between the light and fresh Honey Mascarpone Peach served with Almond Oats and White Wine Reduction or the decadent but approachable Espresso Chocolate Fudge with an Espresso-Mocha Mousse and a Coffee Macaron. This place is BYOB, so don't forget to plan your pairings accordingly when you are ready to have your mind blown by Cape May Court House's new Fine Dining Explosion. You'll see.

This year we decided to return for our anniversary and I'm sad to say this was our last visit to Provence. What a disappointment! We started with a $9 bread basket and the inside of the bread was frozen! We told our server and they brought us a new one at the same time as our appetizers. They really should have taken off the bill. We didn't even eat it. The appetizers (mussels, lobster ravioli, and french onion soup with mushrooms) were very good. The entrees were awful. The trout was really salmon (I know the difference although it can be subtle). It was overcooked and served with overcooked cous cous and frozen, shriveled peas. The short rib was over salted and topped with banana pepper slices straight from the jar and some kind of salty chips over a parsnip, mashed potato yuckiness. Also, we noted on the reservation that this was a birthday and anniversary dinner and it wasn't even acknowledged by the staff. It's evident the "chef" was not the same as our last visit. The food and the service were below average at best. It's a shame.

Casual French dining in Rehoboth? Yes, please. White-tablecloth service, attentive staff, and…read morebeautifully prepared cuisine are what you'll find here. We started by splitting the cream of crab soup. Thumb-sized pieces of crab swimming in a creamy sherry broth were delightful from the first spoonful. I had the steak frites, ordering the New York strip, while my date had the scallops. Her scallops came with lemon-fried cauliflower, which transformed a vegetable I'm usually indifferent to into something surprisingly interesting. The NY strip wasn't quite as tender as it looked, but it was flavorful and satisfying overall. For dessert, my date had the crème brûlée and I had the Chambord cake. The cake can best be described as life-altering. The lightness of the whipped cream was surpassed only by the decadence of the cake and berries. A very enjoyable French dining experience, with the Chambord cake providing an especially memorable finish.

It was my anniversary dinner with my girlfriend and I'd indicated we were celebrating on the online reservation site. This staff here did something I've never seen before, they all signed a card waiting for us at the table when we arrived. Every person greeted us with well wishes. This was mine and my girlfriend's first time in Delaware, a really wonderful day trip at Rehoboth, and yet, despite spending the whole day enjoying ourselves, this restaurant and the staff were all we could talk about on the three hour drive home. To summarize: -food, magnificent (she had the Coquilles St. Jacques and I the Halibut. The Chanbord cake was also a wonderful standout) -atmosphere, beautiful and romantic -staff, perhaps the best we've ever met. You can tell every single person there cares

So I'm a regular at AC, and I never knew this place existed until I saw a video on Instagram of…read morethem and of course, I had to check it out. From the outside, it looks like an average building, but once you get past those door it's like a whole different world. The inside is so beautiful, and I love the open middle concept, especially with the high ceiling, which lets the natural light in, so it makes everything look even more beautiful. It can also be intimate, as they have sections that can be a little private, so it's great for like dates or if you have a family get together. Also, they are close to the outlet as well and have parking too. I do recommend checking out their hours and menu before going, as they kind of have specific menu options that they offer on certain days. For example, on Fridays and Saturdays, they only have a prefix four-course meal, which each person has to pay $68.99 (we went on Friday). But they have a lot of great options, so you still get to try a variety of their fusion menu options. Especially, considering that if you look at the prices separately for the items that were included, I think it's a really great deal, since it comes with your starter bread, appetizer, soup of the day, entree, and dessert, and they don't skimp on the portion size either. Since it's French, when in Rome, you know I had to go with Escargots à la Bourguignone aka Snail, as this is something I've never tried before. It wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't too terrible for a first-time dish like that. Next was the soup of the day, which was a Afghan lentil soup, which we enjoyed. For the entrees, I got the Uzbeki Palau, which is lamb shank with Afghani rice, and oh my goodness, that lamb shank was so delicious, the bone just slid right off the meat. My friend got the Kofta Chalau, which is meatballs in sauce, and it came with rice as well. He really enjoyed that as he finished the whole plate! To finish it off, we were served Firni for dessert, which is an Afghan rice pudding with chocolate mousse and a piece of baklava. We were so stuffed, it was a lot of good food, and I will definitely go back to try their other menu options, which includes vegetarian as well. Also, it's BYOB as they are Afghan and do not serve alcoholic drinks, so you do have the option to bring your own bottle of wine or liquor if you prefer. Drink options were tea, fresh juices, coffee, and water, no mocktails. Overall had a wonderful time. The service was prompt, our waitress (sorry, I forgot her name) was very friendly, informative, and very attentive. The food was amazing, and the atmosphere is just picture and video worthy, very relaxing, and I did not feel rushed at all either. I will definitely go back whenever I'm in AC.

We were celebrating a birthday, and luckily we were one of the first people inside at 5 pm on a Friday. They told us we had only a couple hours, however, before we got booted so to speak, lol. But we didn't feel rushed! The local staff were great. We ate at a normal pace. We ordered the following: veal piccata, grilled NY steak, and specials--Rockfish, swordfish with shrimp sauce. The appetizers we tried were the French onion soup, cream of broccoli, and mushroom cap. The other specials that night were a Brie appetizer and a Maryland soft-shell crab entrée I believe. We also tried some special drinks--pear martini, dark berry mocktail. Overall, I liked the veal and the mushroom cap the most! Those were delectable, even though they had a pretty nice variety of seafood. All the plates came with a broccoli fluffy egg sous vide type of side (see pics, light green & circular). There's a smaller, more intimate area that could fit maybe 8 or 10 folks max for a party. There was some issue with the women's bathroom, but it was fine when I used it. Other than that, it was an overall pleasant experience. I think because of the time frame, we couldn't eat dessert so that sweet treats menu wasn't offered to us unfortunately.

My husband, who has been to Paris and is very particular about his escargot, said it was the closest he has ever had to the real thing. That alone says a lot. We started with the mushroom toast, which was hands down the best toast we have ever had, along with deviled eggs topped with salmon roe that added the perfect burst of flavor. Every bite felt thoughtful and elevated. For our mains, we ordered the coq au vin and duck frites, and both were outstanding. The sauces were rich and balanced, and the meats were cooked perfectly. Dessert sealed the deal with crème brûlée and pot de crème. The crème brûlée, especially, was a masterpiece. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself is small and charming with a cozy, intimate feel. We made our reservation the night before and were off. Entering, you immediately notice only about half a dozen tables in the same room the food is prepared. It's a nice setting that is definitely unique. We started with a tomato bisque. It was creamy, smooth, and a great hot soup to start off a chilly winter evening. My main course was the Duck Frites. A generous helping of fries, with a smaller helping of duck strips. The amount of duck was a little disappointing, but it had a good flavor and a touch chewy. It came with an unusual banyuls aioli sauce on the side, that I quite liked. We finished the evening with a crepe cake that was quite large. I would definitely recommend splitting it, but I found it to be lovely sweet way to end the evening. The crepe was probably about ten layers and soft enough to cut through with a spoon. It came served with a raspberry coulis and powdered sugar. The ends were fired to conclude the dish with a light crunch. All and all, I enjoyed my meal at the Little Hen. If you're in the area, it's a nice place to have an upscale meal or a romantic evening in a small town not all too far outside of Philadelphia.
