Our party of 11 was seated right away which was nice on a crowded tourist evening. The first high chair they brought us for our one year old did not have a belt. The replacement they brought actually had something so sharp on the belt that it cut into my son in law when he was strapping in his son! The staff didn't seem to care- as if that was normal! Great veal parm. Really enjoyed this meal. Good size portion and even included a bit of asparagus on the side. Was a bit disappointed that they charge for extra bread but I can understand it. A beautiful location, food and atmosphere! We all agreed it was a great choice and we would all go back! The wait for a table for 5/6 on a friday night was about an hour, and there was no system to call us back to the restaurant at the end of the wait or when a table was ready so we had to watch ourselves for that time. This Italian restaurant is a staple dining spot for our Cape May summer vacations. The menu is traditional Italian, and the dishes are made from scratch. This year, I had the Chicken Parmigiano, served on a bed of capellini with crushed tomato marinara sauce. It was superb, and the portion was very generous. My daughter had the vegetable lasagna that was a genuine chef's take on this traditional dish. It had yellow squash, zucchini, artichokes, mushrooms, carrots, peppers, onion, and a the perfect accent of mozzarella and Romano cheeses. We had the tomato and mozzarella salad appetizer for two, and a large bottle of San Pelagrino sparkling water. The only minor hiccup was the food came out warm, not hot. Dinner was $93. We are local to Cape May and try to get to A Ca Mia at least 2 times a summer. We had reservations and the table was literally in the entrance to the patio several feet from the hostess stand and amongst people checking in. We would have been surrounded by people so we requested another table. We were put on the inside porch and that was nice, however our server was the rudest inpearsonalble person who should not work with the public. He was abrupt didn't great us, didn't tell us the specials I had to ask and he spoke so quick I had him repeat what he said. He slammed our dishes down. Didn't pour my husband's soda he just put the can on the table. We felt so rushed. From the time we sat until we paid our check of $110 50 mins had passed. Quickest meal!!! Then when he went to slam our check down to sign he knocked into our water glass and broke it. Glass was in the table and he never apologized or asked if we were OK. He just gruffly said "I will get it." yeah I guess so. He broke it. Last time we will ever go there. The host was not nice either. Very rude and abrupt! I give the chicken parm a 3 out of 10. The chicken was too dry. They simply over cooked it.... It was seasoned well but I was eating something overcooked.... 3 people from my party of 5 got chicken parm and everyone said it was overcooked. When you order a drink don't expect a free refill because.... at this elegant restaurant you get... an actual can of soda or can of lemonade etc... $4 for a can of drink. Sad. My son's PASTA AND MEATBALLS looked OK. My wife and I split the salad which was fine. No plate charge to split the salad. In all fairness, I think its tough to find good food in Cape May. Maybe the seasonal business just means your looking far and wide for a chef each year... What great chef works part time? FOOD: The portion size was nice as well as the atmosphere, loved being in Washington Square, but otherwise the food was not. We only ordered takeout desserts from A Ca Mia so this review is for those desserts: mini-cheesecake, 2 tiramisu, and a slice of their chocolate cake. We were in Cape May last week and my husband wanted frozen custard from Kohr Brothers but the rest of us wanted cake. My husband scoffed at our idea we could find cake on Washington Mall but we found A Ca Mia and boy were we glad! In addition to their restaurant, they have a little takeout bakery and we each found what we wanted. It was delicious and so much more affordable than ordering the same items as a takeout from their restaurant menu. The combination of the chocolate cake with the cheesecake and chocolate cake with tiramisu was especially delicious! Came here with my two friends after leaving a previous restaurant due to a lack of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Sat down after confirming that the marinara sauce here is in fact vegan! (And delicious) We ordered the bruschetta to start, it was amazing and crunchy toasted thin bread with the most juicy firm diced tomato pieces with olive oil garlic and basil. We ate every last piece including the lettuce garnish. They also served fresh warm bread and butter which was absolutely divine. My vegetarian friend ordered the zuppa Del Giorno (soup with veggies and pasta, served with cheese on top) - I am pretty sure it would be vegan if asked without the cheese but I would ask first! She absolutely loved it and finished it being completely satisfied by the end. It was nice because she felt kind of sick most of the day after being left to eat mostly fried food at lunch due to the unfortunate yet usual lack of vegetarian options at restaurants nearby. This soup and bread was the perfect healthy and hearty satisfying dinner she needed! "Veggies were perfectly cooked and soft, perfect serving size" - left happy! I am vegan and got spaghetti with Marinara (specified with no cheese garnish). The spaghetti was literally cooked to the perfect al dente level and the marinara sauce was so so good, I would eat it alone with a spoon if I could. My other friend ordered an appetizer as her meal but was extremely satisfied. She got the roasted portobello appetizer, it was severed on a bed of lettuce and bruschetta tomatoes. This was a pleasant dining experience for a party of two. We had a late reservation so the restaurant was not overly crowded. An attentive and friendly wait staff tended to our table. I had a filet mignon that was surprisingly among the best I've had. I never expect much from shore town dining so this was a big win. I forget what my companion had (probably fish of some kind) but I do recall she really liked it. In all, I could recommend this establishment and would return. We spent the afternoon shopping and walking around the Washington Mall. A Ca Mia was at the end of the pedestrian path with outdoor seating, so we stopped in for some lunch. They had a lunch menu which consisted of 3 things: tuna sandwich, vegetable quiche, and a pastrami sandwich. The specials also come with the choice of a soup or salad. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and the quiche along with bowls of the vegetable wedding soup. The soup was very delicious with that homemade taste to it. The quiche came out a bit on the cold side and the sandwich was ok. It served our purposes for a quick lunch stop. The restaurant has a patisserie attached to it and the coffee served was very good. We weren't hungry enough, but would have loved to try one of the pastries or desserts. read more

Nickel and dime pricing upset a decent meal. The diner at A Ca Mia is treated like an ATM, with rules and charges designed to pad the check. 1 No access to the kid menu for over 10s. My daughter is 11 and we weren't even offered a kids menu, and were denied when we asked for one. Result: a lot of wasted food. 2 If you want an extra plate to share an entree, $10 charge. 3 Extra bread. Charge. 4 Auto-Gratuity on tables 4 and up. 20%. Wait staff very friendly, with the exception of the surly hostess, although they'd clearly been trained on how to upsell. Here's an idea: charge for Appetizers, Entrees and Deserts and include all your costs in those prices. I always tip 20%, but when you make it mandatory for small parties, I don't feel like it's been earned. I am giving the review 2 stars, since the food was decent, but the attitude towards their customers left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

We had a large group on a Monday night and they were very accommodating, setting up a big table inside for us all. It started out a little chilly in the room but soon warmed up once it began to fill up and was pleasant by the time we left. Parking is tough around this mall area so be prepared to pay at a lot or at the meters - and/or walk a half mile to a mile or so. Our waitress was friendly but not too much help with the menu. I had the salmon which was really good; everyone else liked what they ordered as well. They wouldn't let the kids order from the kids menu because they didn't look under 10. The menu states that the bread isn't free. It also lets you know that there's a $10 fee to split plates. I guess it's nice that they let you know. There was no corkage fee though and we brought our own beer because they are dry. They only have 1 type of wine glass but that's not a big deal; bring your own if you're that particular. read more

We had a reservation at 7:15. My wife and I got there 15 minutes early. We proceeded to check in at the podium and we were greeted by the rudest, crudest, arrogant, piece of of garbage. He is the restaurants number one problem. If your having a bad day, stay the hell home. We were so disgusted we left. There are so many go restaurants in Cape May, please go elsewhere.
